Well firstly, was disappointed they don't take reservations. Absolutely beautiful spot... Unfortunately the only positive thing I can say. I will probably will never return sadly. The service was horrible! We felt we were an inconvenience, felt rushed when they eventually would come to the table. Dishes were literally thrown onto the table, by numerous staff. Asked someone for condiments (salt, pepper, grated cheese) and was told to ask the server(no where to be found). By the time server came, food was cold. Tasteless dishes... The only thing positive was the mussels. Silverware was filthy. After having been at the table for at least 30min hostess called my phone and asked if we were seated yet...? Not a good night. 1st had water spilled on me, handled well accidents happen. Party of 4. Ordered drinks that took forever to come. Noticed they had Fried Calamari wit Fra Diablo sauce. I thought cool, finally a spicy sauce for the calamari. Ordered extra sauce and it came out as only Marinara sauce. Asked the waiter if the sauce was to be Fra Diablo and spicy. He asked if I wanted pepper flakes. Brought a whole dish of pepper flakes. Notice was charged $3 for the "Extra Sauce" on the bill. Ordered another round of drinks and again took over 10 minutes to received. Our wives ordered twin lobster tails with the side being a salad. Our food came out after the appetizers, no salads. Asked where the salads are and the food runner said he would check. Asked the waiter and he gave a lame excuse that they didn't fit on the tray. Asked if we wanted them to go. Six of us ate at Lombardi's on the Bay on Sept 30, 2021. Four of the 6 had eaten at the restaurant a week before. We ordered our food and when it finally was brought to the table, two of the meals were not what was ordered. My husband ordered chicken rollatine in Marsala sauce and my son ordered Shrimp parmigiana. We were given eggplant rollatine and chicken parmigiana. We were told that it would take an extra 15 minutes to get the correct food made, this was after waiting over30 minutes for the food so my husband and som decided to eat what was brought instead of waiting because by the time the correct food would arrive, the others at the table would have been finished eating. When deciding to keep the food, my husband said to the waiter that he expected a discount on the food. When the manager came to the table, he offered free dessert to go. When the bill came, there was no discount ... the waiter told us he took the ordered food off the bill and only charged us for the meals we were served. My husband asked for a discount and the waiter said he had to speak to management. He came back and said the owner consider the free dessert was enough. We remarked to the waiter that they just lost 6 customers. Apparently, they didn't care. We won't be back!!! read more

Came for a Mothers Day brunch, substandard at best When having a Mother's Day brunch and you DO NOT have cups for children, no wait service at the tables, everything was serve yourself at the bar or the center table, you serve watered down Orange Juice, cold coffee, watered down mimosas and then had to wait over 15 minutes and then flag down a manager to have dirty plates removed from our table you should not charge the fee you do or say it's Mother's Day when you do not accommodate for their children. In addition, a member of the staff was playing with their hair while putting out dessert.... Can you say unprofessional? The overall quality of food was below average. Let's start off by saying the food was really good and huge portions. It's a shame because the service was AWFUl!!! Seated immediately, after 20 min asked for a server. 10 min later one arrived. Placed drink order.. took another 15 minutes for drinks. Once drinks placed she wasn't ready to take food order .. this went on throughout the time there. I recently dined at Lombardi's on the Bay. I was celebrating a special occasion for my Dad and wanted to make sure our party was satisfied. I'm so glad I decided to dine here, as my experience was excellent. We were seated promptly and had a beautiful view too! The food was delicious and the service was great. The Manager came by on several occasions to make sure we were receiving great service. He took the extra time to make sure we were treated well. went for dinner Sunday evening. had called for reservation outside, but they don't take made reservations for inside. arrived and was advised our outside table was ready and already set up for 6. pleasant surprise at 630 pm. they weren't crowded at that point was concerned as many not great reviews on food and service all our food was delicious. zucchini flowers, crab salad, rigatoni with seafood, scallops Provençal, mussels with seafood and penne ala vodka we had a pleasant young lady who had been there a week for our waitress. she was unfamiliar with the menu but gladly asked someone a question for us the service was incredibly slow. waited good 1/2 hour for drinks. and same for food. we we're in no hurry and wouldn't have minded if we could have just gotten out drinks. could have sat outside all night. a runner put appetizers on stand by our table, but no one to sevrve so we just helped ourselves don't know why things were so slow, waitress disappeared for long stretches of time all in all a good evening and we actually appreciate that we weren't rushed just needed the drinks out quickly parking was no problem in their lot that evening..guess no catering event going on read more

disappointment. buffet was meh. no background christmas music. scant holiday decorations, would not know it was christmas save for the tree in the lobby. disorganized -- wait staff and manager did not seem to know how to run a smooth operation, running out of clean plates and not replacing empty trays of food. they would not honor Costco discount cards for the buffet. Next time, if we ever went back, we would just sit in the bar restaurant section, order from the restaurant, skip the holiday buffet room and use the discount Costco cards we bought. Why sell Costco discount cards if you don't like people using them? They had a sign on the podium, only two Costco cards per table (when you sit in the restaurant side). That's a problem. We just left Lombardi's on the Bay very disappointed , we were told there was a Happy Hour with drinks for $6 , not so, it ended at 5pm we also had a gift card with a balance of approx. $15.00 on it as per the receipt , only to be told it was ZERO, the last employee that took the card must have made an error, the manager would do nothing about it. He made it seem we were in the wrong, we have been going to that restaurant for years until recently when the dinner we had in November was terrible as was the service! What is going on here, all new people and management, something must have happened to treat paying patrons so badly. If I did not have gift cards that clients gave us , I would never go back. I went on my lunch break at 1 for their lunch special which is from 12-2. We got there and there were two women in front of us wait to be seated. The hostess was on the phone reading the menu to someone who called while we were waiting. After a few minutes, I asked the maite d (may have been a manager) if he could seat us as I was on my lunch break and hostess was one the phone. He sat the two in front of us then us. After several minutes with the menu, I said to him, I hate to bother you again, but we need our server. He said " I'll get someone but its bad timing as they are very busy.". We couldn't believe he said it's bad timing! It's lunch time. He never got someone. We flagged someone else down. Took forever to get everything. When we left an hour later without coffee or dessert because it was too late, the two who sat down before us still didn't get their lunch. Never again. read more

Only redeeming quality was the atmosphere and location. Came for Mother's Day brunch and was wholly disappointed. The Italian food was terrible and clearly reheated (you can tell by how unevenly heated everything was). Had an awesome dinner last night. My dinner companions chose the prefix, and I and my companion chose Ala Carte. Neither disappointed. The portions were generous the waitress, Jenn, was unbelievably pleasant considering the crowd that was there last night. She was friendly, efficient, agreeable, and knew the menu - everything you'd want in a service person Kudos to Jenn! The maître d' came around several times to make sure everything was OK and we were pleased. I would have given this review five stars if not for the fact that I came in personally on Tuesday to make our reservation. Page assisted me. There was only one other reservation on the calendar for the 20th at 6 o'clock, and one as a party for the hour prior. I specifically asked to be seated at a table by the window overlooking the bay. Page did not guarantee me that I'd get it, but she also felt there would be no problem. When we arrived promptly at 6 o'clock and the hostess brought us into the room she sat us at a table inside the room next to the wall! I mentioned I had specifically made a reservation by the window and she quickly said well that's not possible. She did not offer to see how long the occupied tables would be occupied, she did not offer to try to get us closer to the Windows. I do not like to make a scene in front of guests so I said nothing other then, "I'm so glad I made a reservation". I also did not bring this up when the maître d' came by twice, because again I do not like to make a scene and obviously there was nothing he could do about it now. In the long run perhaps looking at it on the bright side, we had Jenn as a waitress which would not have happened had we been by the window. Other than that the food was terrific. Need to work on how one can make a reservation for a specific table in a specific location and know that it will happen. I am a planner, and had expectations based on my plans. When the food finally came, it was disappointing. The fish was ok, but not what I would expect for $26. The sides were lame. The steak ($36+) was terrible. It was not cooked to how we requested. Then when corrected, it had no flavor. Very disappointing. We asked for our money back on the steak only and the manager could care less - he said there was nothing he could do and gave us the ole' "we'll take care of you next time" bit. The only star (since you have to give one) is for the food alone. My husband and I came here tonight with our infant son. We had a gift card we haven't used and we were celebrating something so figured why not come here? We did get married here after all and it's a beautiful day to be by the water. All that's well ends there. Our waiter Anthony was by far the worst waiter I have ever encountered in my life. He was rude, inattentive, you name it that was him. I don't know if he has a problem with children or what being as our son was sleeping most of our time here. I asked for blue cheese dressing on my salad he brought out the house dressing and laughed. Where does $11,500.00 get you....nowhere when dealing with this place. I just had my daughters sweet 16 here this weekend (Sat night). I was so disappointed! When I came to here I was offered a elaborate Princess Package that sounded amazing, well, If your considering this place you will not get what you paid for! Well at least I did not. 8 choices of food buffet style, NOT served by anyone, besides your guest. Trays of food looked skimpy. Food was good, but not presented appropriately. There is NOT a frozen drink bar for your guest. They have ONE blender and make one frozen drink at a time and you will be told NO if its not what is in the blender. Candy Table is appropriate and Ice Cream table also. My cake was blahhhh....My daughter wanted pink cupcakes, was told no problem, then told me it was a 1.00/person fee & I had to buy the cupcake stand...the cake was pink but wrong pink with a few flowers on it. Just a flat sheet cake, with one layer or filling. Blahhh... I was told I would have valet parking and my guest would have their own entrance in the back of the building....nope. NO valet, NO coat check & my guest walked threw the dining room entrance and a few people complained that they were almost taken out by a waiter flying in and out of the kitchen. BUT that was the direction they were told to go to enter the grand ball room. I ran a tab bar, giving $3.00/person nonrefundable deposit. Ended up coming to around $500.00. I thought that would be enough for a beer or two a person, considering this is a sweet 16, half my guest are under age. WELL my tab bar BILL that was handed to me at the end of my night, in front of my guest, was ANOTHER $1500.00!!! I never thought to ask how much a beer, glass of wine, or mixed drink would cost....well it cost me a lot, plus tax AND 20% service charge! and yes that is ON TOP of my already paid $11,500.00.... :( Another thing that gets me, is I was informed when paying my bill I should give the Maitre`d a $3-%4.00/ person tip and I was handed an envelope. The grand ball room was beautiful! But thanks to my personal touch...I brought in pink ostrich feather centerpieces, pink sashes for the chairs, candles and pink up lighting. It was beautiful! Although I was told I could come at 1:00 to set up & then when I got there, no tables were ready and only had half the chairs...supposedly the maitre`d was never told I was coming at 1:00. She did drop everything to help me and start getting the tables ready. I had 145 guest. It was crowded. We chose to have the DJ in the buffet room(closest to water) because my daughter didn't like the fact that their wasn't a distinct dance floor and her friends would feel uncomfortable....her preference, that actually turned out to be a great idea. One last thing...the tiny little closet, I mean "Bridal Suite"...Well if your going to have your 16 yo daughter strip down to her undergarments to put on her dress in here, BE AWARE of the security camera located in the corner on the ceiling. Nothing worse then having your daughter strip down then seeing the camera....who knows who is viewing those videos and where its going..... I just wish the little things would of been presented to me when I signed the contact, this way I would of known I was getting ripped off...well now you know. I'm not saying I didn't have a wonderful time, I'm just saying I could of had a better time, for a lot less. read more

The more important stuff was the food, we came for the buffet which had a great selection, from french toast to fish and chocolate fountain. Up front, I will admit to some technical "fault" on my part so here goes: In a nutshell, 4 of us went here last night. The food was quite good and portions were large, so excuse the pun but I left with a "bad taste in my mouth." We went there solely because I brought a "Living Social" voucher (same as a Groupon). You know - pay $25 to use on $50 worth of food. I read the voucher and scanned all the fine print. Blah...blah...what the hell does it all mean... Now I already paid my $25 cash toward my meal, so seems like I can use it since the highly visible restrictions were only when it expires, and that it has to be used Sunday through Friday only. So, I called to make a reservation and mentioned the Living Social voucher. The woman was familiar with it and said we only needed to be seated before 6pm to use it. That's all! So, it's a Friday and we're there before 6 pm. Seems good. Yeah, it also says "present prior to ordering," ok, you got me, I didn't - but who does? It was never an issue at ANY OTHER RESTAURANT before! Also - when I made the reservation, the woman told me to please bring a printed copy of the voucher because they couldn't scan it off my phone like most places will - so I brought the printout. Seems like I abided by their Rules in advance." So we got there at 5:45 and ordered off the Prixe Fixe menu which they gave us along with the regular menu and which they did not refer to as anything "special." It appeared this was more of a Happy Hour" type menu which they always had before 6pm and which should be fine to order from since we were REQUIRED to be seated during that time anyhow. We all ordered a Prixe Fixe meal, which as I said, was good, and the service was good as well, until the waiter came to ask if we wanted anything else. I asked for the check and then told him I had a voucher for $50. He immediately responded with shock, "Oh no, you can't use this with the Prixe Fixe menu!" He tried to tell me that menu, which they apparently always have before 6 PM, fell under the "special promotions" exclusions. I asked how the hell their own menu was a "special promotion?" It was not advertised as a special promtion. This was not a "Restaurant week" special menu. The fine print which the waiter then snarkily made me read said exactly the following: "Limit 1 per customer, up to 2 additional as gifts * Limit 1 per table per visit * Valid only for dine-in * Excludes holidays * Excludes Saturdays * Valid in-restaurant only; not valid towards catered events * Must be sat by 6 p.m. on Fridyas * Cannot be combined with any other offers, promotions, events, or gift cards * Must be age 21+ with valid ID to consume alcohol * Entire value must be used in a single visit * Alcohol is not discounted more than 50% Except where noted in the Fine Print: Cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion Tax and gratuity are not included" I think that was absurd and asked to speak to the manager. The manager came with an attitude and basically told me tough shit. I explained that I asked about the "Groupon" when I made the reservation, and what I was told by them at that time, and he couldn't care less. So, even though I should have mentioned it up front (where I presume they would have snatched their Prixe Fixe menus away from us), the manager and waiter acted more like they were insulted I tried to present a voucher and had this tough crap - "You should have known better" attitude. Bad business IMO, after I gave them a very reasonable explanation of what I was told when I made a reservation. Yeah, big shot you got me this time on the fact I didn't stick it my waiter's face when I sat down like I was using some food stamps or some questionable coupon I found at the bus stop. You guys win!! Meanwhile I was able to get a refund from Living Social. That's why they're great and Lombardi's is not. Way too many other great places to eat nearby, so I won't give my money to a place with a snooty, "We're the best restaurant in town and don't need your business," attitude. We went for Mother's Day Brunch. If you have children between the ages of 10-20, don't go!!! I believe the restaurant must endorse the idea of socialism What they do is they make you pay full price for children over 10. My daughter who is 12 would only eat the chicken fingers and French fries. I asked if she could not participate in the brunch and order a filet mignone off the main menu. I was told over the phone that I could order it in the restaurant. I came in and tried to order it and the manager came and told me that it is their policy that whoever sits in the brunch section has to pay the brunch price. I asked him if he thought chicken fingers and French fries was worth paying $60. He said he's sorry but that's the policy. Really? So Let me get this straight... everyone who has a child over the age of 10 is essentially paying for the adults who are eating and drinking more than their share. Sounds like Lombardi's on the Bay supports socialism. Let's make those with middle age children pay extra for our over indulgent adults. I told him it was bad business and he said that was their policy. Well, it's my policy to let you know that I will not be returning. We go out to eat every weekday with our children. People often look to me for advice on where to go. I will make sure to tell them not to go to Lombardi's on the Bay. I didn't make the reservation. I was with family so I wasn't aware of the situation till the last minute. I had no choice, I had to pay. Mark my words, you will pay too with my bad mouthing your business. I am so disgusted and disappointed by this place. My friend recommended me to have my birthday here so I made reservations here for my Birthday. The host didn't tell me I can't bring or cut my cake here. So my amazing boyfriend surprised me with a beautiful and the most expensive cake from popular bakery in Astoria. As we checked in for my reservations they refused and told us we couldn't cut my cake here. They gave us a hard time and they were very rude. I strongly suggest not to do your birthday here, there's no point, since they don't allow cutting cake here. I was attending a family celebration dinner, and your bartender came down the entry hallway, and projectile vomited - it went all over, including, my shoe, my bare leg, pants and blouse. Now while the bartender was clearly sick, my complaint is that NOT ONE EMPLOYEE, Manager or otherwise, has contacted me, that night or in any of the days following- To just offer me a simple apology. Let me start off by stating that I am not a nit picky type of diner. I am not easily disappointed by a dining experience no matter how hard the chef's or wait staff try to ruin a dinner. As for my Yelp star ratings I always tend to rate higher than I think the average diner would rate. I think that gives you a good idea of how this is review is going to go..... We went to dinner with another couple last night last night (Saturday night) before heading to a show of Cirque Noel at the Patchogue Theatre. We had reservations and arrived around 6pm. The restaurant was not fully crowded and we were seated at a very cramped table in a corner....while there were plenty of other much larger tables....for four....open. With the bread service on the table...salt pepper shakers....olive oil bottle and then our four drink glasses, four water glasses and bread plates we barely had any room at all. We all just laughed at how cozy we were. Our waitress comes over and introduces herself and the other server. Okay...not a bad start....our drink order was taken by the other server....all good so far. Our waitress comes over with a chalk board menu and explains the specials for the evening. She must have been fairly new and had to go back and correct herself a few times with the descriptions. Our favorite was when she told us about the 21 day dry aged steaks. She explained the dry age flavor as GAMEY.....not a very appetizing way of try to sell a dry aged high priced steak. Now matter how bad her description was of the 21day old dry aged steak that was what I was planning on ordering....a porterhouse cut to be exact. We ordered our appetizers and meals and were told that the appetizers would come first, then the salads. Guess what comes out first....OUR SALADS. Okay no big deal....we start to eat our salads. My wife and my friend each ordered Ceaser Salads...myself and my friends wife order house salads. We are about 3 minutes into our salads....guess what immediately shows up next....OUR APPETIZERS! Now remember how small the table is......we have now added 4 full sized salad plates and 2 large appetizer platters to the table, as well as 4 additional appetizer plates. No apology or anything. To be fair the food was very good. I split the appetizer special GRILLED PULPO (grilled octopus)....it was absolutely delicious!!! My wife and friend shared a baked shrimp appetizer. They said it was okay. Our meals arrived shortly after finishing our salads and appetizers. Our sides arrived first...sautéed shitoke mushrooms and an order of steak fries. For dinner....My wife ordered a medium fillet mignon. My friend ordered a medium well ribeye and I ordered a medium....to medium well 21 day dry aged porterhouse. My friends wife loves the Chilian Sea Bass....she ordered it again and enjoyed it. Okay...so to the steaks....the servers dropped them off at the table and did not ask for us to cut into them for temperature. Usually when you order steak and pay around $50 for it the servers usually wait to make sure it is cooked properly. Low and behold....these were all UNDERCOOKED....ALMOST RAW! My friends steak was supposed to be medium well....it was bloody. Mine was dry aged cut and when cut into was PURPLE!!! My wife's was similar to my friends steak bloody and definitely not medium. We finally got the attention of our server and showed her the steaks....she apologized and sent them back to be recooked. Now my friends wife had her fish and was not eating it because we didn't have our meals. We insisted she eat while it was hot. After about 10 minutes our steaks start to arrive back at our table. Now they are done just fine. Right behind it is a fresh plate of steak fries....so they are hot for our meals. That was the only apology we received....a fresh plate of steak fries. The mushrooms...mind you...were now ice cold. The food itself was very good....but the whole service issue was far to much to overlook...especially when the bill comes out to over $330 for a table of 4. If it were not for the way the meal came out and the service issues I would have easily given this review a higher rating. read more

This is one of the worst place to eat. The food is horrible management is horrible. The only good thing is the view. We went there for a dinner and waited for the food for 80 minutes after finally we got the food it was wrong order and when we told them we got yelled by the manager !!! Went there for our 5 year Wedding Anniversary last night. Made reservations for 8pm on Open Table a month in advance. Walked in last night, table not ready we had a drink at the bar. 1/2 goes by nobody comes up to us table ready. Went to hostess stand to remind them and she goes heres your name, totally clueless. I said I've been here a 1/2 hour waiting. Poor communication to your customer. We ordered baked clams for Appetizer and I order Surf and Turf special which came with a salad, strip steak, and Lobster tail for $ 72.00. Clams come out they were the size of nickel and only came 4 to an order. Steak and Lobster come. Asked for Medium Rare, it was cooked to my liking but it took 20 minutes to cut one piece of meat. It was like Shoe Leather. Felt like the Cook went down the meat aisle at the Supermarket and picked out this Steak. No waiter came over to ask how anything was. I ate the Lobster tail which was tasty. At the end of the meal the waiter finally came over and asked how everything was I said the steak was terrible....took 20 minutes to cut a piece of it off. I had the lunch on the two for 20 menu. The basket of bread was nothing special and the bread was not even warm.The salad was OK and the main entrée ordered was the fillet of sole. It was very disappointing. The fish was swimming in liquid and had absolutely no taste. The potatoes looked delicious but also had no taste. read more

this is one of the most attractive venues on the island with a beautiful view of the water as well as an enticing dinning and catering area. i went for lunch and my party of three could not be happier with the service (rebecca) and the food. we had the meatballs and the hot sausage with peppers, both of which were off the charts. for the main course, my guests were served a plentiful portion of pasta and the fresh fish of the day, which they devoured. i had the ny strip steak, which was perfectly grilled and compatible to many high end steak houses, for a fraction of the cost!. in fact, our meal was so good, that my guests asked to view the party rooms! they were given a detailed, comprehensive tour by the the manager (robert) and as a result, will be booking a 50th anniversary party at lombardi's in february. i asked my guest's for a finders fee for orchestrating the party booking but they declined and left me with the check to boot! it was worth every penny! a great place!! read more

Lunch with a group midweek, had the lobster po'boy. It was yummy. service was good for a large group of 15 or so. desserts were yummy as well & large enough to share. Food was a bit pricey, but good size portions, no one left hungry. great for a special occasion or evening out. Really great view of the bay. I hope Yelp keeps my review at the top for everyone. I'm a guy who enjoys the best steak money can buy but I can also deal with a cheap night out at Fridays. I like to keep it real. Whatever. This place does have spectacular views BUT it also has insanely great prices CONSIDERING the view you have. I laugh when people say they had to wait a long time to be seated. Don't go here if you're rushing and can't enjoy a glass of wine or two while looking directly out at the water or if you don't want to mingle with the other bar patrons. Why go anywhere like this if you're in a rush? The place is beautiful yet crowded (for obvious reasons) and for the money, you aren't going to get better food. Pay $10+ more per plate and yes, you'll get better food. Don't go here thinking it's going to be a quiet, romantic dinner unless you go on an off night. If you go on a weekend, it will be busy and somewhat loud but you absolutely can't beat the view and the prices for what you're getting. Stop being snobs :-) read more
