OMG...what a wonderful surprise and I'm glad those negative reviews were wrong. We had a fabulous meal today. The Lobster Bisque was exquisite and the Beet salad just perfect. The service was outstanding with Steve monitoring every aspect. The prices are fair, about $25-$30 each with Appetizer, Entree, Dessert and coffee (fresh and tasty). I work for an airline, over 30 years traveling worldwide, and I can honestly say this is a hidden gem on Long Island. The view of the Bay, the upscaled, luxurious restaurant setting are the perfect combination for lunch or dinner. Frankly, I was impressed. The good, the margarita and the steak. The bad, the service was embarrassing. The hostess, some blond woman, totally ignored me and some other guy who was just walking around ignored me also. I asked a busboy who do I talk to to get seated, it wasn't busy, he didn't know. I couldn't understand my waiter. My gift card was for 100 but only 50 went towards my bill. Don't order from the price fix menu during the week. The chicken parm was disgusting; tasted like old chicken cutlets smothered in sauce/cheese. Lombardis on the bay is fantastic! My fiancé and I were engaged here 3 weeks ago and he said the entire wait staff knew about it because he called ahead to let them know. Our server was very attentive and I never knew anything about the proposal because everyone there was so great about not saying or doing anything to mess it up. They brought us champagne and dessert on the house afterwards! And the hosts and wait staff got beautiful pictures and video of the proposal. The food was unbelievable. If you enjoy seafood and are looking for a nice night out with beautiful water views then this is the place to go. We are now looking to book our wedding here. We went there for our New Year's Eve dinner, we were a party of 15. Our waiter was completely overwhelmed and stressed and it showed. I have never been out and spent so much money on food to be treated so poorly by the waiter. He made us feel afraid to ask for ANYTHING! He had an attitude and was acting like we were annoying. I ordered the pork tenderloin in a Madeira wine sauce with mushrooms. It was old and tough, my son couldn't find the crab meat anywhere in his dinner. We waited forever for anyone to see if we needed drinks. For the money they charge for this awful dining experience they should be ashamed of themselves!!! I felt like I was robbed. Then to make matters worse the waiter claimed we owed him for a corona beer we never ordered and fought with us about it, then huffed off complaining that he would pay for it himself!!! Very unprofessional...we were a party of 15, we ate and drank and weren't trying to steal a $5.00 beer!!!! We just just ate tonight at Mama Lombardi's And it was AMAZING! Perfect service, the food was to die for and the prices were fair. I don't know what's going on over on "THE BAY" but they are a far cry for the original! Once again the should be ashamed. Dined here for a date night not our first time, this time was different our waiter Anthony was amazing he made us feel welcomed, like we were part of the Lombardi family. He recommended twin lobster tails & a stuff veal chop that was his favorite and he was soon right it was more than we expected. First let me get the good out of the way. The food was amazing! The guys at the valet were great. Bus boys invisible so that means they were great. Out waitresses, who explained that she was new did a fine job. My major issue with this place is that the entire floor staff ran and were run as though the customers were a total footnote to getting the job done. The waiters calling out instructions or requests to each other across tables was very distracting. The floor manager walking next to the tables discussing what I am sure are the typical logistics of running a dinner service but I don't want to hear it while I'm trying to eat dinner and have my own conversation. Dinner was served and what usually gets me started happened...Know who is getting what before you serve it. I ordered once, and so while in the middle of a conversation I don't want to have to stop and tell you what I ordered again. Again, management has made a conscious choice not to insist on the simple procedure of letting the runners know who is getting what. VERY frustrating. To top it all off, a couple at the bar, we were seated next to, had ordered a fish dish that is de-boned table side. Well apparently this must be quite the spectacle because not only was the maître de watching but so were two other waiters all yucking it up over how amazing the third waiter was at serving the fish. All while standing next to our table. Any time I have to speak up to be heard over the waiters next to me it's a problem. The last straw was when one of the waiters decided to get comfortable and lean up against one of the unused chairs at our table. My head just about explode and almost told him he should take it, just make himself comfortable and sit. Cleary he couldn't care less. Unfortunately management does not have the first clue about treating guests as anything other than incidental to moving the food. If they did this would not have been going in across the board. For a guest to feel completely incidental to the running of the food service is unacceptable, unwelcoming and unprofessional. Like I said, food was great. It was pricey but the large portions somewhat made up for it. Will never go back though. Oh....And the music from wedding reception next door competing with differant music in the restaurant....come on Lombardi's....Someone needs to get a clue over there!! read more

2 stars when you compare value for your meal. Way overpriced with a $30 pasta when you get $2 worth of pasta and $10 worth of seafood, maybe. A $15 wedge salad, give me a break. $32 for a flounder filet with crab meat and no sides. No wonder the place was empty, $73 dollars per person for pasta, a salad and coffee. My finance and I live in Howard Beach and took a trip to Patchouge for an open viewing for a potential wedding venue. There, we met someone who recommended that we check out Lombardi's. When we arrived I politely explained that we were interested in finding our information on their wedding packages and since we did not have an appointment we would be happy to set one. After the chap at the front desk spoke with the banquet manager he asked if we could wait for a "short" while; I was sure to ask what his sense of "short" was and he explained about a half hour. They had us waiting for an hour 1/2 at the bar, with no one checking with us to update us on status of wait time. Though a beautiful place- as a business, we were disappointed in the lack of customer courtesy and respect for our time. We got up and left. On the way out they apologized and said that someone would call with all the wedding package information. We have yet to receive that call. Any shrewd professional would have the common sense to reach out to potential big ticket customers - especially after waiting 11/2 hours to show appreciation for the business and place a good foot forward to show desire for the business. I would not recommend Lombardi's and take this time to give anyone considering this place a Caveot Emptor!!!! read more

I have been to all the Lombardi's restaurants and this location is my favorite...beautiful, clean and good food.

Thank goodness for the beautiful view! The food is usually consistent and good. Majority of the staff is well intended, but like there other locations this restaurant is typically leaderless and zero focus on creating a great customer experience. Phillip is the one manager/leader who keeps things running great...but he oversees different restaurants on different nights. Not sure why I do it to myself (the view i guess). Last night was another disappointment, 50 minutes before any food hit the table other then bread. The apps did not come out together and first appetizer that came were the mussels which came out cold. They came back out about 15 minutes later, but they reheated the original order that we sent back cold...who reheats mussels??? No reason to take you through the rest of the experience. The manager did not once come to the table, too busy being self absorbed. He spent much of the night perched atop the balcony overlooking the staff...truthfully not sure what he does, must be family or friend of family. He was quite aware of the poor experience unfolding as he kept directing our poor waiter on what to do and say next...How about speaking to the guests yourself??!!! In short, if the weather is nice and you're interested in a cocktail and a great view, go for it. But if you're looking for more, keep your expectations low so you won't be disappointed. read more

Went here for early dinner on Fourth of July , about 3:30 pm. I ordered drinks and apps, I was getting pulpo salad with string beans and potato's, instead I got grilled pulpo with caper's. For the meal I ordered the porterhouse for two, was supposed to come with a small side salad, potato's and cream spinach, as per our waiter Sal. The steak came at about 5pm the sides came about 15 minutes later. The restaurant was not crowded when we got there, but as more people came we heard more complaints. read more

Took my family here the other night for some authentic Italian cuisine. It is a beautiful venue with views of the water and that old school Italian restaurant feel. Everyone raved about the food and it was surely no disappointment! All in all excellent service, excellent food, and a great time with family and friends! Unfortunately I didn't have the most pleasant experience here, I came with a party of four and the wait time was a whole lot longer than she initially said. I called ahead and asked if she could put my name down and the lady said of course and asked for my name but once I arrived the manager told us he didn't take phone reservation which was already a red flag, as in who did I speak to on the phone then? Anyways we finally sit down at our table and our waiter was not friendly. He would take forever to get simple things, such as our lemons or sodas etc. We order raw clams and weren't given a cocktail fork and when we asked our waiter for one he just said oh yes sure. No like omg I'm sorry I forgot or anything. The view is definitely stunning and it's very nice sitting outside, however the food was very mediocre and pretty slow unfriendly service. On Saturday, Dec 17 2016, we hosted our company Holiday Party at Lombardi's on the Bay. We paid a surcharge on the complete dinner menu so our guests could choose the NY STRIP STEAK. The few guests that ordered the steak were served TOP ROUND or another cheap cut of meat! That is NOT what we paid EXTRA for! The cake that was served for dessert arrived half frozen and tasted stale! Everyone left it untouched on the table! This dinner was an EMBARRASSMENT for us. We have been hosting Holiday Dinners for 15 yrs with no complaints . We reached out to the management, but they have not responded. DO NOT PLAN A PARTY HERE! Today, I planned on attending the Sunday brunch with my friend while visiting my daughter; however, my decision to stay or even come back is indefinite. As I walked into the congested entrance and made my way to the front, I was hardly greeted by a rude, tall, fit man with a beard standing at the hostess stand. He was clearly in charge, yet did not give the time day to make me feel welcomed at the restaurant. While simply asking for guidance of seating, he swiftly pushed my need for assistance aside while i awkwardly stood confused as to where to go. I continued to inquire whether i should wait for a table or sit at the bar. It was my first time attending, obviously I am not going to know how Sunday brunch at Lombardi's on the Bay works.... I will NEVER go there again, nor will i ever recommend anyone to sit at this poorly managed establishment. Thank you. read more

After arriving for a special Birthday dinner with friends, we were seated outside on the deck. The view along the bay is wonderful. Apps and drinks were served in a timely manner...so far so good. Then the wait began. After 30 minutes of waiting for dinner we were told, your dinner will be right out. 15 minutes later, sorry, your dinner will be right out. Guess what, 15 minutes later, dinner will be right out. When we asked a manager why our dinner, was delayed, while other tables were eating (after arriving after us), we were looked at like we had 3 heads and told with a shrug "it's busy". WHAT??? You should be used to being busy! After a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes of waiting, we canceled our dinner and asked for the check for our apps. Of course management was shocked. Shocked that a table would not take this treatment from the great Lombardi's. The arrogance of this establishement is amazing. Any other restaurant would at least by us a drink. Not this one. This treatment does not end here. Mama Lombardi's in Holbrook is the same way. Good food does not justify this arrogance. Ciao Lombardi's we are done with you!!! read more

Attended an event at this venue for a volunteer group. Starting with Cocktail Hour: Not enough seating for all attendees. Food was especially spicy. Bartenders didn't know how to make rather common drinks. Bar was covered with dirty glasses. On to the dinner portion of the evening: Again, insufficient seating for number of attendees. VIP guests had no table. Table set up at last minute blocking an exit door. Not enough servers (3) for a room of approximately 130 people. Service so poor that some tables were just getting served as other tables were getting picked up. Quality of food left alot to be desired. Undercooked chicken served, beef was dry even though it was cooked to medium level. Guest requested a vegetarian meal, looked as though it was thrown together from whatever was in the "kitchen" that looked green. Never again!! read more

Although it is a beautiful setting, which is why we are drawn here, it is evident that the staff is miserable and under the direction of an abrasive management team, which makes for an uncomfortable dining experience. Great food. Horrible management. After being told it would be a 35 minute wait, my family and I proceeded to wait at the bar for TWO HOURS, being told it would just be another 15 minutes for the majority of that time. Complaining to the manager was useless as he just stared past you with a glazed over, unaffected look on his face. No offer of a round of drinks at the bar or a free appetizer was mentioned, nor was any sort of accomodating effort by the restaurant whatsoever. And it wasnt just us, it seemed that everyone in the waiting area, bar, and even the bathroom were complaining about how long they'd been waiting even though the hostess kept saying it'd be "just another 15 minutes". Its one thing to have a two hour wait, in fact good for you if you do, but to lie to customers for two hours is just ridiculous and evidence of an extremely poorly run restaurant. We were there for my mothers 60th birthday, an occasion that she wanted to be special, but instead was basically ruined due to the frustration we all experienced. Finally we got seated, but it was in the back, loud bar area that would probably be great in the summer but was cold and completely lacking any and all ambiance that you would expect from the "fine-dining experience" of a Lombardis restaurant. Our waiter was fine, obviously flustered by the nights heavy business and all the angry, hungry patrons, so I can't complain about him and thankfully the food was delicious after all the wait. Luckily, we wound up having a lovely time with each others company, but the runaround we experienced from the management staff and the ridiculous wait was enough for basically everyone in my family to hate this place. Its really a shame that such an established restaurant family would have such poor management, especially at one of their nicest locations but thats their own problem.
