I'm giving two stars because of the following... Service:NO STARS...Good lord, if you want good service, go somewhere else. If you don't mind waiting for your: water, menu, food of any kind, then this is the place for you! Just dreadful! Our tip reflected it too, which I Hate to leave a poor tip. She's lucky we left anything. (we left 10%, rare for me.) Atmosphere: one star....If you sit on the terrace please note you may encounter children and adults playing Bocce Ball--LOUDLY! They do NOT care if you're are a foot or two away trying to have a nice dinner with your loved one. The Food: I enjoyed the Maine Shrimp and grits. I love Maine Shrimp and they treated them pretty good. Chef's, please don't over cook them! This is why I got pissed at my waitress. I think she let the food sit and then they overcooked. My friend had the seared scallops. I tasted those too and they were very good. Overall: I just can't get past the bad service and the Bocce ball tournement with bad parents, just horrible. I had NO IDEA about the Bocce ball when we sat, otherwise I would have ate in the dining room. It was just such a nice night in Bar Harbor, I wanted a quiet dinner outside on the patio-it never happened. My food was good, the grits were light and fluffy and the Maineshrimp were a nice addition to the grits. My friend enjoyed the scallop dish except for the strange chilled "salad" of turnip on the plate( not so good chef ). I also did not like the grilled kale, too salty and too chewy. Having said this, I would suggest moving on to another restaurant in Bar Harbor. read more

Called to placed a order; two orders of tikka dish that is on their menu. I drive up, pick it up & go back to my hotel. Sit down anticipating a repeat of flavor & aroma that I experienced few days before when I ordered the dish for first time. Shocked to see that it is just a mix of haphazardly thrown together naan/pita, lump of rice & dry chicken. No curry, no legumes ( don't recall what it is) & it looked really disgusting. Called them again & was told they had ran out of the ingredients that make up the dish. Got me thinking why did they accept the order in first place. Anyway drive up to get refunded & this snotty preppy white guy tells me "Am I not refunding your money" among other things when I asked what happened to being honest to your customers. Not a single word about "sorry we screwed up" ! I guess this is how folks do it in small town that gets overwhelmed by tourists in summer & locals are looking to make a quick buck. For $37 I expect more & better service + attitude. This place sucks, at least the folks that deal with customers. read more

Who needs lobster?? Creative appetizers grabbed our attention on the menu outside...WOW!! Brussel Sprouts were outta this world.... teamed up with a Pepita and Beet Salad and some Fritters. Andrew was super friendly and made us outta-towners feel right at home. Great patio and bocce court too! read more

Admittedly, we went in with low expectations for the vegan options. We ended up having a great meal: dilly snack (pickled vegetables), a tofu banh mi (complete with veganaise), and a no-cheese pizza with roasted veggies, garlic and oil. Also, my drink, a Paloma, was so so so strong that it knocked me out for the car ride home. Definitely stop by if you are vegetarian or vegan! read more

We stopped in Bar Harbor for the first time, and someone suggested the Lompoc to us. They said they had great food and a kids menu but that they stopped serving at 9pm. It was 8:40pm and we booked it to get there by 8:42. We had 8 people and 2 kids. One infant who wouldn't be ordering and one 2.5 year old. The hostess went to check with the kitchen and came back shortly and told us they couldn't seat us or serve us because they ran out of food. !!!!!!!!! What? You're in Bar Harbor and you ran out of food to serve 8 people? Mind you, there was a party of 5 behind us and also a party of 4 behind them. For which it appeared they didn't turn away. So sad for them to miss out on a party of 8 because they were too lazy. If I were a server there, I'd be so upset to miss out on a party like that, with most likely an added gratuity as well. I have served in the service industry for more than 10 years and this is just pitiful. Sorry to say I can't write about the food because they were too lazy to even seat us. This is horrible customer service. If they really had run out of food, i would have a manager come out and say, we are so sorry, but these are the items we have run out of. If you see other things on the menu then we'd be happy to seat you. If you don't see what you're looking for, please come try us again. Mind you, they say the 9 people behind us. Soooooooo..... The Lompoc Cafe & Brew Pub is an excellent option for drinks and food. According to the Atlantic Brewing Company, they started in the kitchen of the Lompoc, which explains their excellent choice of local and import brews. The food selection is not extremely broad, but they are VERY good at what they do. The falafel burger is a great choice for vegetarians and meat eaters alike (seriously, you have to try it). The bocce court is a nice touch. All in all, a nice restaurant with good food and ambience. read more

They were out of the BLFGT sandwich and four of the tap beers at 1:00 pm. The waitresses walked past me about 10 times before even taking my drink order despite the place being 1/3 full, and they forgot my appetizer order. The fish sandwich was okay. My Fiancé and I visited the Lompoc on a Wednesday night. We also happened to visit on a trivia night which made for a very fun experience. To eat we had fried ricotta fritters which were to die for. I could have ate many servings. The bartender Caleb was friendly and endured our many questions about the area. Very nice service. When we visit Bar Harbor again we will certainly be hanging out at the Lompoc Cafe. read more

This is another place we always go to in Bar Harbor. Funky and different every time, except the dijon mussels aready noted, are always there. The pork dishes and the sausage ones have been the most memorable. We go late in the season, and the bocce is gone, but the place is always warm. Appears that lots more locals than tourists go there. So glad that we found this place as we needed a change of pace from all the seafoodpalooza. A little further away from the main touristy restaurants lies this hip eclectic restaurant. The Beehive appetizer was phenomenal-- goat cheese layered with garlic and a side of sliced green apple, drizzled in honey. Terrific flavor combination. The FishWich was not your typical fried fish sandwich as it came with this spicy slaw, but it was really good. The crab BLT was good, but lacked in flavor for my preference. The side of fries was perfectly crispy and salted, and the house salad's vinaigrette was so tasty. Our server was also really friendly which made for an overall awesome dining experience. Was really surprised at how good the quality of the food was for the low price. Fantastic atmosphere, wonderful staff, and there was a minimal to no waiting time (at least when we went). The classic American burger was seasoned perfectly and juicy. The bun was toasted to perfection. Everything tasted fresh and was apparently locally farmed and house-made. When it comes to restaurants, I typically want to try new things: restaurants that I haven't been to, or at least different dishes at restaurants that I know. However, Lompoc impressed me so much that I went there twice during my one week in Bar Harbor AND ordered the Friend of the Pod salad both times. Nice place with a pretty outdoor patio and good food and drinks. We went for dinner, and the service was friendly and the price lower than many Bar Harbor restaurants. The mussels were super fresh. We'll be back next year for sure! read more

The food here was decent, but our overall experience underwhelming. I wanted a light dinner, so I ordered a bowl of the day's soup, golden beet with a dollop of feta, plus the Dijon mussels. It was about 7:30 on a Saturday night before the summer season. We'd had to wait a while to even place our order, and eventually the waitress reappeared with the menu to say they'd run out of the mussels. Seriously? The dish that seems to be the house specialty, and they'd run out by 7:30 pm when the place was half empty?? Reluctantly, I spent more time looking over the menu for another option. I also spent time looking at Yelp! for another restaurant, because in all this time, my beer (a very good locally brewed Coal Porter) had not yet appeared. Just as I was about to throw in the towel, our drinks arrived--and my husband had only ordered ice water! I ordered a Greek pizza and changed the bowl of soup to a cup. The soup came eventually, and was nice, but a bit undistinguished. By the time my pizza arrived, along with my husband's chicken pot pie, my beer was almost gone, despite my nursing it along, so I again reluctantly ordered another. I ate half the pizza, was full, and cancelled the second beer, which had still not been brought to the table. The service was appallingly slow and really put a damper on the evening, especially after the shortage issue on the mussels. All in all, a disappointing experience. Plus the place was a bit loud, although not that crowded, and it was hard to converse. read more

Not horrible, but not worth going out of your way for either. The menu is interesting, but the execution seems to be seriously lacking. Three members of our party ordered burgers that were all very over cooked, mine to the point of sending back. When I got the second burger, ordered medium again, it was well done again. The rest of the food was nothing better then okay. The staff is extremely accommodating and friendly and the spot is really cool, but the kitchen really seems to drag this place down. read more

Our worse dinner experience ever. Came in with 2 kids, ordered food, and asked that they would bring whatever is ready, since we're all very hungry, especially the kids. After more than 20 minutes, we asked again, and they said they have a small kitchen and our dishes take time. After another 10 minutes, we lost our patience, with two very hungry kids getting bored, and asked to pay for our drinks and leave. Then, suddenly, it was ready. Food was OK. 10 minutes later we've realized we're still waiting on our main courses. This was getting ridiculous. We said, again, let's just cancel he rest and move on. Then our server explained to us that we got very expensive dishes, and that canceling them will cause a lot of damage to their business. Seriously?? We took them to go and sat at a near by park. The worst service we have ever seen, and all this while making us feel we're to blame of the situation. Save yourselves the time, reserve a table at go the near by side street cafe. The only reason we got here is because they were full. read more

Best food in Bar Harbor, by far! The falafel burger is just phenomenal - get it vegan, the pita bread is vastly better than the bun, which overwhelms the flavor of the hummus and burger by sheer amount of bread. The drinks are good as well - the Dilly Bean Martini is weird, but yummy. The ambiance is nice, not pretentious or too loud, the fairy lights at night are cute, and bocce! The grits are amazing as well, according to my boyfriend, as is the broccoli tempura appetizer. Strongly, strongly recommend! read more
