Beef ribs Mac n cheese Cabbage
    Stephanie L.

I've been wanting to come here and I'm so happy I finally did! I was greeted immediately when I walked in. There was a bit of a line when I got there and it took some time for me to finally order. Once it was my turn I was greeted politely again by the lady behind the counter. She was as sweet as pie! I ordered the Oxtail dinner with Mac n cheese and candied yams. I also ordered the beef rib dinner with Mac n cheese and cabbage both dinners had a choice of either a dinner roll or cornbread. I also ordered a lemon pound cake - They had an abundance of deserts.. Both were absolutely Delicious! The oxtail was super tender and came over a bed of rice which was a surprise! The beef ribs were also very tender and glazed with bbq sauce, all the sides were yummy! I'm so happy I decided to try this place. You can tell they have a lot of regulars because they knew a lot of people by name. The establishment was clean, the staff were so sweet and accommodating, I'll be back to try some other items for sure! My total came up to about 45, the serving is generous and I felt like it was well worth it!

I'm stretched out on my mom's sofa in a food coma. That's it; that's the review. I ordered oxtail, mac & cheese, and cabbage. It came with jalapeño cheddar cornbread. The oxtail, of course, came with gravy over rice. I managed to eat one of the three oxtail and a few bites each of my sides. The meat was tender and falling off the bone. The gravy paired perfectly with it and complemented the rice. The cabbage was cooked perfectly; not mushy and overcooked, well-seasoned. My mac & cheese had a nice, golden cheesy crust. The jalapeño cheese cornbread was golden with crispy brown edges and huge chunks of the pepper. Everything was perfect. I rarely say that about a meal but seriously it was perfect. I have more than enough left for dinner and possibly a late night snack. Londa's gives you plentiful portions for a great value. I also tried a little of my nephew's broccoli casserole. It was some of the best I've ever had, period. My next visit, I'm definitely getting some casserole. I can't wait to try other entrees but I'm hard pressed to get past anything other than oxtail. I'm determined to try though.

This is my second time ever coming here. This experience was better than the first (taste wise). The customer service was still just as great as the first visit over a year ago. If you're looking for some fresh, southern cooking at a great price, this is your spot. The food was flavorful and seasoned to perfection. The only thing that threw me was the fish tasted more like Tilapia versus Fried Flounder. But the Yams and Mac were noth really good! I love cornbread however their cornbread isn't that great, luckily they don't charge for it.

I don't write reviews while sitting in a restaurant. Today was the exception. I walked in and was greeted kindly. The place is clean and orderly. That's always a nice touch. My vegetable plate included Mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, and greens. I cleaned the plate! I added a little pepper to the greens but other than that, the meal was scrumptious. I will be back (in my A. Schwarzenegger voice)! Oh, the little one got the three wings meal with two sides and ate every bit! Very nice. BTW our meal totaled $20 and some change. Not bad for a meal that was worth every penny. The restaurant was beginning to fil before we left. They are located in a Mountain Island shopping center in the Northwest corner of Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road & Highway 16. Trees may obscure your view but it is there. I found the shopping center to be nice and quiet on a warm Saturday afternoon.

Nice location, easy parking, and seating with ample room.

Londa's Place is a buffet style, soul food restaurant with a good location. I agree with the reviews by Ashley D. and Chris H. Clean facility, courteous staff, wide selection, and decent prices. My fried chicken was lightly breaded (not battered), moist and tasty. Everyone has their riff on mac-n-cheese. Londa's I'd order again. Her collards, however, were good but I'm not keen on the sweetness. Overall, a pleasant experience and looking forward to tasting some of her other fixins. When in the area I say "Give Londa's Place a soulful whirl!"

Wing plate. They only had two left and subd my ast wing with a thigh

Visiting some friends on this side of town and decided to order some takeout. It was on a Sunday around 6ish that we dropped in. Londa's closes at 7PM on Sunday's. With that said, they were out of some things and that was understanable. I ordered the fried wing plate with mac & cheese and collards. For our son, we ordered the baked wing plate (bc they were out of fried wings and fish) with mac n cheese and collards. Both plates came with an option of roll or cornbread. The wing plate usually comes with 3 wings and they only had two fried left and subd my third wing for a chicken thigh. I was totally fine with that. Once they returned we began to dig in. One of the first things I noticed were that the baked wings were a bit dry, so my son didn't really eat it. However, he did enjoy the sides. My plate, the wings were pretty bland and soggy. I went with the wings based on some of the pictures I saw on Yelp and the reviews. Could just be that I literally got the last of the batch in regards to them being soggy. There definitely wasn't any flavor though. The chicken thigh on the other hand was flavorful and dind't seem like the last of the gang. My sides were good too. I'd be open to trying Londa's again, on a not so close to closing visit. The pictures from other patrons look great and the reviews are too. Just wasn't a hit for us that evening.

I ordered a smothered turkey wing over rice, with a side of yams and mashed potatoes with gravy. And a roll. Everything, and I do mean everything was great. The yams wasn't too bland or too sweet. The mashed potatoes had a hint of garlic I believe. For me the turkey wing could have used a pinch of salt but it was still good. I will be back to try other items. And the strawberry cake was very noisy and rich.

Baked dry chicken , yams , green beans and Mac with cheese.

That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

They even still have the 120 year old pews! If you ask your server, you are likely to hear the entire story of the place. It's pretty amazing. They recently received a Michelin recommendation and it's totally deserved. It's a buffet, but most of the hot food is actually served by a person which is something that I particularly appreciate. (I really don't like touching the handles of spoons that hundreds of people have touched.) Some of the stuff is self serve but not any of the hot dishes. Absolutely everything I tried was outstanding. Like everything. There are a few things that they consider "pass around" which means that they are brought over to you by a server at random intervals. For everything else, you just help yourself. I went with a friend of mine who has a deep appreciation for a southern food. He was absolutely amazed. Honestly, I can't think of a better place to have chosen to eat in a short time I had in Charlotte. I've attached a picture of the menu. I tried just about everything. I wasn't disappointed in a single thing, and I was completely wowed by many of them. The servers were wonderful. Very friendly and very willing to talk to us about the history and the food items that were there. Highest recommendation!
