Super cute park. Has a lot of dog park running areas. Basketball counts, Tennis courts and more. This park is connected to the lone mountain trails too.

Big wide, open grassy areas for the dogs to run

We're fortunate to live less than a mile away from this beautiful park, which is actually three parks in one. The south side (east side of the mountain) is the dog park. There are four total sections, (2 for large dogs & 2 for the small dogs) but only two are open at a time, allowing the other two to be fertilized and sanitized. The community here is great, and, of course, the dogs love it! If you follow the path toward Lone Mountain Road, you'll come to a fork. Heading right will take you past the tennis and pickleball courts, and if you keep going, you'll enter Children's Discovery Park. It has a big, wide grassy area, lots of playground equipment, beautifully landscaped and very clean. If you veer left at the fork, you'll pass the equestrian arenas. Continuing left brings you to Upper Lone Mountain, which borders Lone Mountain Road. This is a massive park with at least a dozen gazebos equipped with picnic tables, playground, barbecue grills, a beautiful walking path, and a large central grassy area. There are also tennis courts, basketball courts, bocce ball, and shuffleboard. The entire walk, out and back, covers about three miles. I take my dog here daily, often twice a day. The park is so spacious and varied that we're always able to switch things up and never get bored. And of course, I didn't even mention the mountain itself. There's a path that circles the mountain itself, it's about 3.2 miles. Or if you're very adventurous, you can actually climb the mountain. It's a short climb, but it is steep and there is a lot of loose gravel so coming down can be a little challenging. Suggest wearing hiking shoes and maybe even bring a pole. This park truly is a hidden gem!

Outside of the new dog park! Horse & Dog statue

This park is super duper close to our home, so we come pretty often. Usually we enjoy a walk around the paved path or hike up the mountain for a beautiful sunset view. Note: the mountain hike is short and easy, but very steep, BE CAREFUL! But this most recent visit we came across the BEST DOG PARK EVER! Usually our dog joins us for our walks, but when we take him to a dog park we go to Barkin Basin on Alexander. We were very pleasantly surprised to find Lone Mountain Discovery Park's new dog park! There are two section's, small dogs and large dogs, across from each other. In between is a nice big horse & dog statue. This park has courses for some fun pet training, plenty of green space, and even tennis balls! I couldn't get over how cute the fire hydrant water fountain was! Lone Mountain has been our go-to for walks, hikes, and picnics... but now it's also our go-to for a dog park! Much better and more quiet & clean than Barkin' Basin. Plus the view is incredible.

Beautiful park Lots of opened tables that don't need reservations Great pathway to ride bikes, scooters, skate board, skates, anything with wheels! Plenty of opened green grass to run around. Pickleball courts, Tennis Ball courts. Just a great park by the mountain to go for a hike

It's fantastic to have a park and trail in such close proximity. The park boasts numerous amenities, including tennis courts, pickleball, and ample parking. The trail is exceptional for hiking.

Gorgeous park with lots of playgrounds. Smaller parking lot. Lots of grass and a walking trail. Round statue set up in the middle. There's also tennis fields lots of them. I didn't stay long because some old dude with an aggressive dog ruined the atmosphere. No water playground.

Education at the Park! Fantastic idea! Wish more parks would adopt this concept for kids. Fun day and plenty of space to roam while learning. There's even an Equestrian space for horses, about 4 playgrounds too.

This is a fabulous park to get some cardio and socially distance yourselves during the current coronavirus crisis. Even before the crisis hit, we used the trail that goes around Lone Mountain. It's about a two-mile loop once around and it's a well-groomed gravel path. The park also has tennis courts, a playground, and open fields. There is also an equestrian area where I've seen people working out their horses. Highly recommended for outdoor fun and keeping your sanity.

    Great hike!

This. Park. Is. Amazing! I recently discovered this location and had no idea one could hike up the mountain. They have an awesome trail through the far west side for those who want to hike with minimal effort, an average area through the center on the east side, and a difficult trek on the north side. Something for everyone. You can choose to park closer to the 215, near the Lone Mountain side, or off of Alexander, depending on which route you plan on taking. Once you reach the top... AMAZING. Nothing like it. You have an absolutely breathtaking view of almost the complete Las Vegas Valley with sweeping views of Red Rock Canyon in the west, and Centennial Hills to the north, making it hard to believe you are atop a mountain in the middle of a city. It also includes full basketball courts, which are packed day and night, some adorable play areas for the kiddos, and plenty of grass for your four-legged friends. If I could live at this park I would.

I LOVE THIS PARK! Lone Mountain Discovery Park is a fantastic park right at the foot of Lone Mountain. This is the park that other parks want to be like! I'm so glad I found it accidentally. Here are the highlights of the park: 1. 4 separate playground areas. Each playground has its own feel as well, so it is a new experience at each one. There is one for little people with all appropriately sized playground equipment. This one is also completely fenced in, so the little ones can't escape and get into traffic. The second playground is for bigger kids and is open, so they can run wide and far. The third playground if for the little ones again and has a great shade structure covering the play area. The last playground is for the really big kids. It has awesome climbing webs, several balance types toys, and just funky fun things to play on. With so many different playgrounds, there is always a fun place to play that isn't too crowded. 2. Educational play areas! You won't see these right off the bat, so make sure you explore the far northern side of the park. They have all sorts of math equation walls & measurements, shapes to climb on, and giant map of the world. This whole area has so much crammed in that you know the kids have to be learning things just by playing in the area. 3. A big boulder to climb all over! This is in it's own little area and is surrounded by a soft form covering on the ground. The boulder has all sorts of hand and foot holds, so you can easily climb all over it like a monkey. 4. Lots of places to run! There are a couple nice flat areas to run wild or play ball or something like that. There is also an area that has all sorts of small hills, almost little bumps erupting from the ground that are super fun to run up and down. 5. Lots of seating areas. You never have to walk more than a minute to find a bench or a picnic table or even game tables in this park. This is great because my 2 year old wears me out and I need lots of breaks these days! There are beautiful secluded areas that you can sit and enjoy your surrounds, as well as giant picnic areas to host a party at. There are even a couple amphitheaters scattered around the place, if you wanted to do a little meeting, live music jam, or poetry reading. 6. There is a lot of parking scattered all around the park. This is awesome because the park has to be at least 1/2 mile long, if not longer. It is nice to par close to a certain area, especially if you are carrying a big load of stuff in for the day. 7. The park's location. It is located at the base of Lone Mountain which is automatically awesome. It is off of a small residential street (Jensen), so there isn't a lot of car traffic in the area, so it is nice and quiet. The surrounding neighborhood is on the fancier side, so the area is always clean, free of some of the negative things you find at some other parks, and you just know you will be safe and sound in this park, So if you want a fun park that is good for any age to play at, get to Lone Mountain Discovery Park today!

    Beautiful!

My husband and I got married at Lone Mountain Discovery Park April 24th, 2013. We were able to rent a large covered area for only $50 and the location was beautiful, the bathrooms were in a great location, the grass was well manicured and we had easy access to the playground and the trail! We were blessed with beautiful weather and a beautiful backdrop for our photos.

Great park to take family and friends.

I normally don't leave reviews, but parents deserve to know about our experience here…read more We were visiting with friends and their 5-year-old son was getting ready to play laser tag. While we were helping him get set up, he touched one of the laser tag guns and an employee immediately got irritated and told him in a very rude tone that he "doesn't understand" and couldn't play anymore. He's a young child -- kids that age are still learning and developing at different paces. There was no need to speak to him that way, especially in front of everyone. He ended up in tears. When I calmly approached to understand what happened, the employee continued with the same attitude and dismissive behavior. Instead of de-escalating, she became confrontational, which eventually led to security being called and us being asked to leave. The situation was completely blown out of proportion and handled in a very unprofessional way. This is a children's venue. Staff should be patient, understanding, and trained to communicate appropriately with young kids and their parents. If someone doesn't have the temperament to work around children, this may not be the right environment for them. On top of that, the playground area itself raises safety concerns. There are kids of all ages running full speed through a treehouse-style structure with steep stairs and heavy traffic, which feels like an accident waiting to happen without proper supervision or flow control. Very disappointing experience overall. Parents should be aware of how interactions are handled here.
