Checked in earlier than thought. The front desk staff has amazing service. They explain everything and let you know the extra things they have available for guest. The room was cleaned and smelt fresh. I love that they have front door parking and good tv channels. Going to add pictures because words can't describe how excited I am to say I'm glad I went with lone oak rather than red roof inn. Plus they offered a cheaper price without me even asking. I would say if you are looking for a nice place to stay that feels like home this is the place. I will definitely be coming back! read more

We got a room for the night off the hotels tonight app and got it for under $90. We we're basically looking for a shower and a place to sleep and we were pleasently surprised! Hotel room was spacious and extremely clean. Only reason for 4 stars is the bathroom could use some upgrading and the towels you could tell we a bit older. read more

We stayed here while we were diving in the bay. This is a very accommodating spot to divers with rinse tubs and drying racks for gear. They also have a hot tub and sauna, perfect for recovery after cold dives. They were full except for one of their cottage suites, but when they heard we were diving with a group they let us have the cottage at a discounted rate. It was older furniture/kitchen but everything is immaculately clean. Loved staying here and would come back in the future. read more

I was a guest on July 14-15, 2022. My daughter reserved the room as a birthday gift and paid a total of approximately $412. I was disappointed. I chose the Lone Oak Lodge, Monterey, based on a prior stay several years ago. This room was not as clean as it could be. The floor was sticky with unidentifiable black marks. I was able to find a cart with cleaning supplies and proceeded to clean the floor myself. The room appeared to be unfinished. There were no hooks on which to hang my clothes -- not even on the bathroom door! The floor of the shower was slippery so I had to place one of the towels on the shower floor so that I wouldn't slip and cause serious injury. I had to ask for soap as there was only one tiny disk of soap at the sink and none for the shower. One chair at the table belonged at the garbage dump. I was afraid to sit in it. The room was set up for two people although I stayed as a single. I didn't complain to my daughter because her gift was very generous...but she did NOT receive *value* for the price of the room. Shame on Lone Oak Lodge management. Bottom line: my stay was a MAJOR disappointment. read more

This is by far one of the best experience and stay I've had in any lodge. The place is in tip top shape and the rooms are well taken care off and very clean and nice. The bet part of this place are definitely the people who own it. It is a family business and Kurt and his wife are just wonderful. They are very nice and friendly and just straight up good people. This is great place for divers and non divers alike. The hotel was very clean and well cared for and loved the special touches like flower boxes and hanging baskets. We stayed in the cottage with a kitchen which helped save money and time. Not one bad thing to say about this lovely motel!! Everything from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out was awesome. Very clean room with a fireplace. Close to everything. Each room has it's own spot so that was nice especially since we were out late and its always annoying trying to find a spot to park. We stayed here for one night during labor day weekend and it wasn't super cheap but wasn't crazy expensive either. It was well worth it and hope to be back again sometime in the future! read more

We had such a wonderful stay! We stayed in the king size room with the fireplace and hot tub. The room was VERY clean! Parking is right in front of your room too. The room had a microwave, coffee maker, and a mini fridge. The beds were comfortable, the fireplace was really nice, and the hot tub was clean and we thoroughly enjoyed using it. Outside, there's an ice, soda, and vending machine. Our room was cleaned every morning. Free wi-fi and AAA discount too! The area is generally pretty quiet. The only things that woke me up while sleeping was a very loud and weird bird (that bird would have woken me up even in my own house) and someone turning their car engine on. But hey, there are cars literally 10 feet from your window, so what can you expect. Noise really wasn't a problem for me, and after the first night the bird and cars didn't wake me. Ear plugs might help light sleepers, but I wouldn't consider noise a problem here. There's a Safeway, CVS, Blockbuster, Bowling alley, and several food places around there too. We would definitely stay here again! Cleanliness is #1 in my book, and we really loved how Lone Oak Lodge took the extra effort to make our stay an enjoyable one. They really thought of everything! i'm not giving this place five stars for its spectacular views or fine linens... in fact if that's what you're going for, steer clear. but if your a diver (or going for your first open water dive), this is the place for you! being a motel allows you to park right in front of your door (no hauling your gear through hallways), and there's even a spot for you to rinse and hang all your gear after your dive. the decor is totally 1950s throwback (they haven't renovated in so long, it's actually WORKING for them now! super fun!) -- rustic, simple, but clean and cozy at the same time. we didn't use it, but there's a hot tub / spa area. looked nice. the stay is ~$90 a night, they're fairly flexible about check-out times, and the lady at the front was super friendly. (she even gave me her last wine key!) a couple people complained of a smoke odor; i didn't notice this at all. will definitely stay again (even if not for a diving trip)! read more

Trashy Hotel - NOT recommended! AAA should pull it from the list Trapped next to cigar smoking old men! Made our reservations several months in advance. Ended up in a room next to a party of loud, cigar smoking and drinking older men. When asking the management for help in keeping the noise and smoke down we were told that " motels are for everyone". Really!???! So we have no rights to a clean, smokeless and quiet stay? Seems as though the owners as well as managers need education in what it it means to run a motel. Hospitality isn't part of their vocabulary. It was only after numerous complaints that we were allowed to move to a quieter room. Although we've stayed here every year for nearly a decade, we won't be coming back. Addendum: This motel also attracts drunks who stay up all night. Perhaps the convenient location of a liquor store across the street helps. NOT a recommended place to stay unless you're an alcoholic! Trash Bag Motel!!! read more

We stayed here for two nights while we were in town getting Scuba certified and it was a really great experience. We stayed in a room with a single queen bed and two twin sized beds. The room was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful! The motel has a whole setup for divers to clean their equipment including three huge bins of liquid and poles for hanging stuff to dry. There's even a hot tub and sauna which are nice after a tiring day of diving! Staying here more than exceeded my expectations and I would not hesitate to stay here again! read more

This isn't some fancy chain hotel or you may not think much of it based on the outside but it's a gem! It's ideally located if you want to visit Cannery Row/The Aquarium. Good places to eat within walking distance. The staff is super nice & very accommodating. The prices are more than reasonable for the area. The chain hotels lack any character that Lone Oak offers. Cleanest room I've ever stayed in, great accommodations (nice shower, coffee maker with excellent coffee/cream, microwave, fridge, ceiling fan, comfortable bed, blu ray player, quiet). Spa and sauna. A little pricey for a 2 star hotel. We did stay over Labor Day, so maybe that is why? Front desk manager was overly friendly and inappropriate in his comments about his own cleaning services. This place was refurbished no tell motel from the 70's with no taste. A big mistake, way over priced with a psycho lady at the front desk. We went down for a pleasant weekend of scuba diving only to find hostile front desk staff and an over priced room; $50 less for the same accomadations down the road... The lodge is fully furnished with a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom. We had plenty of room and enjoyed the jacuzzi and the dry sauna at the lodge. The beds were amazingly comfortable. The only reason for the four stars was due to the retro interior and the heater that made light fluttering noise. We received a warm and helpful welcome here but what impressed us most was how immaculate the room was. Clean, very comfortable, quiet and reasonably priced. The location, on a busy thoroughfare, is not conducive to strolling but allows for a quick car ride to Monterey and Pacific Grove. A real Gem for sure! The price was amazing, had the King with Jacuzzi and fireplace. Ok it's got a few quirks but nothing to complain about....like the old comforter (switch to down and the room would be AWESOME) But it's clean and that's really what matters to me. I loved that the heater was not loud and didn't wake us up. The tub was clean and there were two white robes for us to use. Oh and there were two pretty roses in a vase on the vanity. How sweet is that. Parking is a breeze and they were full so no problems there. Staff / manager was helpful and kind. You can tell they really care about their property. Booked last minute on a sat night at 7pm. The people working at the service desk are personable and accommodating. This is not the Ritz, no free breakfast, but if u want a room reasonably priced by the water with a spa tub in the bedroom this is where u need to go! Clean, friendly and conveniently located. Walking distance to CVS, Denny's, bowling alley, and grandmas kitchen. They have a sauna and work out equipment also. No guests were loud or roudy during our stay. read more

This is a great place to stay at an affordable price. For a three night stay & with my AAA discount my total, with tax came to $333.19. I probably could've gotten even $10 cheaper if I would've booked originally three nights but I only booked two then made a modification later. Not a big deal, still a great price. I stayed in the King Fireplace room which was handicapped accessible. I'm not handicapped but it was all they had at the time of booking. There was a micro/fridge and an in room coffee maker. I stayed here last year in there queen queen room it was nice also. I'll definitely be coming back next year. read more

Amazing stay! Best stay so far in our whole California road trip. Very reasonably priced for the beautiful cottage we stayed in. It was very spacious, two large beds in separate rooms, a cute kitchen with all needed appliances, and 2 tvs. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. I tried booking online a week before my stay, but no rooms were available so it said to call. I called and got a room with two double beds. The place is clean and safe and staff is very friendly and helpful. There is an area to clean your dive gear, and hooks outside the rooms to hang your wet gear to dry. This place is within walking distance to restaurants and close to Breakwater and Cannery Row. Free wifi was also an added bonus. I will definitely book here in the future. read more

Very nice motel..especially if you are a diver...I stayed there this past weekend when on my certification dives. The rooms are basic, but very clean and upkept. Free wi-fi and an awesome hot tub. The jacuzzi room was great also. If you are diver, all the tubs to rinse your gear are provided as well as ample room to hang up your gear when rinsed (including up to 4 hooks, right outside your room). You can park right in front of your room, so no carrying your gear for 100 yrds when moving in and out. The staff was very accomodating also. I will be staying there everytime I go diving in the area. read more

My plan was to stay down in the area with my family for the day then go back home, but I decided I want to stay. I had to think quick on finding a good hotel at a good price since all I wanted out of it was sleep. Found a great deal through Expedia and was booked and confirmed in minutes. Upon arrival we were greeted with a big smile and cheer. Check in was fast and convenient. The room was clean and accommodations were amazing. I've done different types of hotels/motels, but this is one if the best in terms of service, comfort, and hospitality. Doesn't hurt that it's within 5 miles of the piers. Would come back read more
