Terrible service. As soon as we walked in, the employee standing at the front, completely ignored us for an entire minute or two while he slowly counted out cash. He looked like the Tiger King, and when he finally looked up at us, he said "4", and we replied yes, then he proceeded to start counting out the money again for another couple of minutes. The restaurant was practically empty, by the way. When he finally seated us, it took another 10 minutes for our waitress to come up to us. When our food arrived, the fries were stale and chewy. The pastrami sandwich was lackluster, the pulled pork tasted stale and old, the garden salad was borderline expired and partially wilted, and the French onion soup was soggy. Extremely disappointing. Oh and last but not least, the bathrooms were disgusting, smelled like urine, dim lights, and the door wouldn't even close all the way. Don't waste your time. read more

If you really like "Hungry Man" sized portions of food then this is the place to go!! Even the kids menu items are hugely portioned. Also if you really like home cooked meals like "mom used to make" then again this is your place! The meals are just ok in taste, since its homemade cooking style....not really big pizazz and bold flavors that wow the palette. My husband and I dropped in for breakfast on a recent weekday morning. A friendly young man showed us to a booth. First thing I noticed was that the seat had a huge rip in it. The server took a few minutes to greet us, but not too long. She was a very quiet young lady. My husband ordered the eggs and waffle plate, and I ordered 2 eggs over medium. After some time, a man brought our order. Presentation was simple but okay. My husband said the waffle was good. His eggs were not quite done enough for his liking. He had requested well done. My eggs were cooked correctly but came out on the cool side. Overall, the food was underwhelming. Lastly, the decor of the restaurant appears cluttered and outdated. I get that they're trying for a western vibe, but it just seems junky, and frankly, unclean. I think there are better places in town to get a good breakfast. read more

Great atmosphere and service! Our waiter was fun and very prompt. There are lots of choices on the menu! The food is ok, careful with a salty burger and very salty fries , tell them to hold the salt. The tortilla soup is loaded with veggies and and meat, but no flavor. The chalula lime steak salad had a wonderful steak on it but the dressing was bland! At 8:45, we had to wait nearly 10 minutes to be seated. Not because there were a lot of people ahead of us, but because of a lack of staff. There were only 3 waitresses, and they had to hostess, take orders, serve, and bus tables. When we walked in, the couple in front of us was being seated. We went nearly 10 min without being acknowledged, and the couple that came in about 5 minutes after us left. Half the food was ok, the other half not worth the price of it was free. My wife had the biscuit and sausage gravey as a side. The sausage gravey was thick, pastey, and lacked flavor. All three of us had hashbrowns that nobody was able to choke down, not even with ketchup. This was our second time in here since mid-March, and both times, they were of the thick cut porkchop. I guess they only order enough for only patron a day. The setting is nice and rustic, and the staff did hustle. But shame on management that was nowhere to be seen or manage. Two out of the three of us wanted to leave. Because of management and only mediocur food, this was our last time here. Lone Spur is a cowboy restaurant in Prescott that has regional sister spots around Colorado and Arizona. The eatery features western and cowboy decor as well as 19th & 20th century nostalgia such as photos, wood rails, license plates and such. The Lone Spur is a breakfast/lunch spot that opens early at 630am and closes early, at 2:00pm. The restaurant has ample seating in two long sections, with nice high back booths in the one section for privacy. The staff greets you kindly and sits you fairly quickly. The menu is primairly what you'd expect with a number of dishes such as chicken fried steak and eggs, french toast special and other typical breakfast fare. They have good burgers for lunch. They also have a few southwest tinged dishes that incorporate some green chiles and sauce to make the locale influence felt. I tried the chicken fried steak and eggs. The quantity was large but the entrée seemed like it was a thin manufactured chicken fried steak patty, not homemade. It was ok, but not real good. My wife chose the french toast for her meal. These were very good, but so small as yo be disappointing. The bacon was good and nicely cooked. The biscuits and gravy were not great because the biscuits were so tough I couldn't cut them with my knife. As a restaurant I would rate it better than a typical Denny's . The staff are friendly and inviting. The decor is what one would expect, mining tools, western clothing, and taxidermy. The food is quintessential country comfort food served in generous portions. This used to be our go to place when we visited Prescott but after this last visit it will be our last. We thought it was odd that the restaurant was so slow on a Saturday morning when in the past it was a good 15-30 minute wait to get in. They didn't have the sirloin for the steak and eggs, the French toast was supposed to be cinnamon raisin bread but it was just white bread and our order probably took 45 minutes to arrive at the table despite the restaurant being 1/3-1/2 full at best. Our food got there and it wasn't hot, it definitely had been sitting for a while before being brought out and the pulled pork sandwich actually made our friend sick that afternoon. I'm sure rating The Lone Spur Cafe anything less than four stars is heresy for any locals, but I just can't get there. I ordered their French toast special, which by definition should be special. And it just... wasn't. The two scrambled eggs had been sitting under a heat lamp too long, as had the bacon. And while I appreciate the fusion concept of raisin bread with corn flake crust for French toast, it just didn't have any flavor. I think they'd do better grinding the corn flakes into much smaller pieces and also using a thicker piece of bread. The bread tasted just like the Sun Maid Raisin Bread my grandma used to toast. I honestly don't understand how this restaurant has any good reviews. I order soup and a half sandwich, roast beef and Swiss on sourdough and the French onion with prime rib soup. Let's start with the soup. It wasn't soup and it wasn't warm. It was soggy croutons and small chunks of what could have been prime rib but looked and tasted more like pot roast. There's wasn't any liquid so I can't imagine how long it had been sitting. The slice of cheese on top was only melted enough to stick to the sides of the cup. It was bad in both flavor, and texture. Now the sandwich. Terrible. Mealy dry bread that tasted as though it may have been sitting out for about as long as the gray roast beef. I ate it because I was starving, but I felt bad about that decision afterward. Also not inspiring was the pickle spear, the only really warm thing I got with the meal. It was room temperature and mushy. My wife got a bacon cheeseburger cooked medium-rare that managed to somehow be dry and that was on a bun that was also mealy and dry. Oh, and falling apart. Our daughter was lucky enough to manage to get a sunny side up egg that wasn't bad and the bacon wasn't terrible. The homemade jam is the one reason I don't feel bad giving one star, I'd give none if I could. That said, the service was good and the atmosphere is rustic. But, we'll not be returning. read more

Third time here for breakfast to take out of town guests. Fabulous food, and service with a fun Western Atmosphere. Premium location across from the Courthouse. Loved the corned beef hash and eggs, omelettes, and the Belgian Waffle with Eggs and bacon was amazing! Oh... did I mention great Bloody Mary's?!!! My husband and took our 4 grandkids here for lunch on Sunday, July 30. Our wait time to be seated wasn't bad, however it took over an hour to get our meals - 3 burgers & fries, a breakfast burrito, a lunch salad, an order of chili, and a cup of tortilla soup. The chili and soup came last, cold, and in paper bowls because they " ran out of bowls and cups". Given the crowd I expected a lot more but it's a basic restaurant with average food and above average portion sizes. The wait is signficant on the weekends so go with patience. They aren't set up for waiting patrons either - you have to wait outside and there's little place to sit or stand, especially given Covid, and we missed the first call for our table so ended up waiting twice. I ordered the soup and sandwich. The soup was good, a little too salty and very different than what I expected from French Onion. It had beef in it - not objectionable but not French Onion. The sandwich bread (sourdough) was so thick as to be difficult to eat and it was folded over deli ham. I had to ask for condiments that one normally gets on a sandwich and those took 10 minutes to arrive. The place was busy - I get it. My family was looking for a great home-cooked breakfast and decided to try Lone Spur Cafe on the Square in Prescott, AZ. After reading the reviews after our visit, it is shocking that the issues we experienced are the same ones customers have been writing about for over a year. Not sure what is going on with ownership/management, but something isn't right. As others have spoken out about, you walk in and there is nobody to even greet you. We saw a few people sitting in the waiting area so figured there was a wait. Then some workers came near us standing at the check-in table but never said a word to us and then walked away. Not even a "somebody will be there to help you". Nothing. Finally after about 5 minutes, a hostess finally walked up and asked for our name. Then she said nothing. No how long the wait will be, how ya'll doing this morning. Zero. We kind of stood there awkwardly thinking is that it and took a seat right there after a couple had been called. We all instantly said why are they having people sit and wait when there are quite a few open tables. We were finally called after a short 5 minute wait. I should have known what kind of experience we were going to have when the hostess quickly picked something off our table with her fingernail. I immediately looked down and there were food crumbs on the table. Either the bus boys didn't clean at all or didn't do a good job. Instead of saying anything, I just knocked the stuff off myself. It took about 5 minutes for a waitress to finally come over and take our drink order. Once we got our drinks, we were ready to order. She then told us that there were items that were not available. At 10 am and they're already sold out of food? We were told they were out of hashbrowns but could get french fries?? Wait, aren't they both made from potatoes? BTW, that is a sign their food is frozen, not homemade as they want us to think. After going back and forth about what foods were available, we finally got our food but our food came out at different times. 5 minutes between each one. Why orders are not brought out together? It was then we realized two things...eggs were not cooked all the way through (raw) and food was lukewarm. French fries were stale. Food went untouched. Also noticed that it looked like bus boys were bringing out people's food. All in all, we were pretty disappointed with our first ever experience here. We came here for a bite to eat with family after popping in to many, many antique stores. I love that they offer breakfast and lunch all day. This is the perfect and only way to do food. So natch I ordered the huevos rancheros and the hubs got a chicken wrap. My aunt and uncle split a Reuben. Huevos are my go to breakfast, lunch and dinner food. I love them. These were a good representation of them. The corn tortillas were a little tough and hard to cut. The eggs were perfectly cooked though and the ranch style pinto beans were a nice touch. I would have liked a better salsa on top. The potatoes were delicious and I could not stop eating them even when I was past the point of full. The rest of the fam liked their meal. The side salad that was up charged for $1 for my aunt and uncle was a sad little affair. Brown lettuce with a dried out baby carrot. On a recent trip to Prescott we tried this place out on a Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. we were promptly seated drink orders were taken the coffee was delicious the ice water was refreshing and quickly replenished. I ordered chicken fried steak and eggs as my craving had hit an all-time high I requested hash browns extra crispy. My plate arrived with three eggs The chicken fried steak was tender great gravy on top The hash browns extra crispy with the most tender interior and quite possibly the best hash browns I'd ever had. I really don't know if it has been that long since I had a great chicken fried steak and delicious hash browns but I will return to this place and I don't know that I would try anything else read more

Prescott definitely has a piece of my heart. The Lone Spur Cafe is one of the several establishments across from the town square. I've only been here for brunch - and each time, I have been thoroughly satisfied. This past visit, we sat outside with our dog. The outdoor accommodations are a bit sparse, and the sidewalks are narrow, but we made do. Could've done without the cigarette smoke from the person sitting on the other side...the inside is a different story, feels like another world with animals heads plastered on the walls. Moving on to the food - we had the breakfast burrito and veggie omelette. Glad that they do have several vegetarian options alongside a plethora of meat options. The food was very filling and the coffee kept on coming. Prices are more than reasonable! And service is very friendly and efficient. Our puppers was even accommodated with a few milk bones. We arrived early morning and wanted breakfast, so we stopped in for bite, boy were they busy! You'd think it was the only place in town, but you'd be wrong. I had an burrito and it was so big, I couldn't finish it all. The place is small and full of history, it seems locals enjoy it just as much as those coming through town. Excellent food, great service, good prices. Every time I'm in Prescott, I make sure I have breakfast here at least twice. Especially if it's a weekday as there's a low price 2, 3 or 4 item, you choose from a list, delicious breakfast with huge pancakes. The weekend dinner has a properly prepared, tasty, selection of either ribeye or prime rib. I've had both and loved them. If you're looking for wonderfully executed, tasty food in a simple, country western atmosphere, this is definitely the place at which to eat frequently!! My only criticism are the forks.
