My daughters wanted a breakfast restaurant and I had heard of Zekes. They did not disappoint. I had the chicken fried steak (cfs) and it had the perfect texture. Gravy. Which is made of few simple ingredients, is rarely made this perfect. It was rich and full of sausage flavour, smooth silky texture, and did not sit too heavy after. We shared pancakes and they were perfectly cooked and had a fluffy interior. The bacon was crispy and soft at the same time. One of our party ordered a burger and it was a good medium cook and season just right. The breakfast dishes came with skillet potatoes which were the most perfect breakfast potatoes we have had. Our first time eating at Zeke's!We've driven by it many times when in town, so now that we're back, we invited our friends to join us and try it out. It's a quite large place. Its walls are decorated with a lot of Cowboy photos and farm type decorations. Three of us had breakfast and one of us had lunch. My husband and his friend had bacon and eggs, and there was a LOT of food. My girlfriend had biscuits and gravy, and I had a junior cheeseburger, and fries,,which was the size of a regular sized cheeseburger. Everything was great! Tasted really good. Walking into Zeke's Eating Place you can immediately tell how popular it is since nearly every table was full even on a weekday morning. The western-themed decor adds charm without being over the top and I thought the wood-style ceiling fan was a unique touch. The food came out quickly and hot. The kids crunchy French toast was delicious and the one wheel pancake was massive almost the size of a pizza. It was a little dry but nothing that some syrup and butter couldn't fix. This was the best pulled pork I have had in the Quad Cities area, it was perfectly tender, smoky and the BBQ sauce was just right, not sweet. They also have sauces and seasonings at the tables which you can add: BBQ, mustard based BBQ, Cajun (try this!), and a dry spice mix that you can shake on. The potato salad was divine, totally fresh, and the beans were also excellent. They have home made cornbread mini loaves that come with any plate order. I have eyes bigger than stomach syndrome badly and i ate a little over half my food. My GF ate less of hers, not because it wasn't good, but it was HUGE! I love Zeke's. The Granite Mountain Outlaws, as well as the Whiskey Row Ranger's meet there every Thrursday morning to have breakfast and to discuss life and Cowboy Action Shooting. We take up about 6 tables, sometimes more and the staff is as kind as they can be. The place is great for S.A.S.S. members to hang out. With pictures of John Wayne and other famous cowboy actors hanging on the wall, it makes us all feel right at home When I was first asked to join, I didn't know what to expect. The portions are HUGE and quite tasty. I always take mine home and eat on it for a couple day's. It' a greathard-workingg man's food.
