And I was not disappointed this place was so clean the service was amazing it smelled so good. I got the ribs fall off the bone it was so delicious. I'm very picky about my barbecue sauce too But it was so complimentary to everything. I had the 2 combo plate and my second meat was the so tender brisket. My husband and I went to Lone Star BBQ here in Fort Worth. The price was not bad however, the food needs a little work. He got ribs, brisket moist, mac and cheese, along with coleslaw. The best thing on the plate were the ribs. Moving on. I got the frito pie with brisket, beans, bbq sauce, cheese and sour cream. Not the best I have had, but not the worst. We've been frequenting Lone Star for actual decades, from way back in their original location (when they had bluegrass night , a bit of nostalgia fer ya!!), so a yes, long time! We also grew up in the sticks in the 70s/80s, so we know legit bbq. This place is the best for miles around. Family spot, the owners are so pleasant and the staff is great! They have a real wood smoker out back and when it's fired up it smells awesome. Their menu is lean like a proper bbq place, and it has no weak spots, everything is fantastic. As for my favorites, I love the chicken, as typical bbq joints won't have any because of how much they hog up the smoker for less yield compared to the more dense beef and pork. So, it's a mark of a serious bbq place to not exclude it. Getting older, I have come to eat lighter, and am stearing away from so much heavy and red meat, and this is a big deal for me. We sometimes swing in just to grab a whole chicken, to break up into work lunches, etc. A fantastic value. We placed a delivery order via Grubhub. We have been planning to try this place but have not had a chance. All our food was cold, despite being 1.5 miles from the restaurant and prompt delivery. In addition, our order was WRONG. One of the sides was incorrect. We got green beans rather than broccoli casserole. Also, we ordered a pint of banana pudding and got 8 oz. Mistakes happen, and I understand. But this was just too many. We got a partial refund from Grubhub. We called the restaurant manager, and he was rude. We didn't expect them to give us anything. We just wanted to let them know about the problems so they can handle orders with more care. Lone Star BBQ won't get a 2nd chance. read more

I love this place and honestly think the bar-b-q is just about some of the best around. I stop by often and pick up chopped beef or sliced brisket to take home and make our own sandwiches with. I have always found it flavorful and tender. I catered a work lunch for 15 people recently and the food couldn't have been better. We had some of everything and the guys were very good at estimating what I would need for the amount of people I had. They easily stayed within my budget. They aren't far from my office so I picked up the food myself. That worked out great because it was hot when I got it to the office. I don't go in to dine but I go in to pick up my order and it looks light, clean and cheerful. They are always very nice and go out of their way to be helpful. We have picked up sliced brisket from Lone Star Bar-B-Que on several occasions and it has always been great. But this time we picked up 2 1/2 lbs of sliced brisket and we were very surprised to find it to be very tough (Hard to cut with a knife and hard to eat}. I do not like to leave a bad review but this visit was just an obviously blatant rude experience. Two cooks were working on the front door but let me pass by to walk in with no greeting and the restaurant was completely empty beside what looked like the manager working at a table. I stood at the order area for about 10mins while the cooks kept working on the door. Never did they ask if I was ready to order or if someone was helping me and the manager never acknowledged me or got up. So I just politely walked out and told the cooks I guess no one wants to help me and they just looked at me like I was not welcomed. As a bred, born, and raised Texan I know my bbq and I have eaten my fair share in the 60 years that I've been blessed to be on this earth. Lone Stars chopped beef sandwich is alright at best. The potato salad was good as was their sauce. I'll try them again, but will get other meats. As for the chopped beef, I wouldn't order it again as it doesn't have much flavor, but it wasn't nasty, it's just nothing to write home about. That's all I've got to say about that !!! There was also a bird apparently living or just hanging out inside the spot. I think this place has potential if they serve fresh and hot foods and not dry and old reused food with no seasons. Very friendly staff, the chopped brisket had a great flavor, potato salad just average, the ribs are perfectly great smoke flavor and falls off the bone, the spicy sauce was so so good... the coleslaw was average, green beans needed a some seasoning.. this place is more like a 3.5 out of 5 stars. the best part about living in texas are the plentiful bbq spots. This review is only for take out. i ordered a 2 meat plate with 2 sides. I also added a small order of mac n cheese. Honestly, i actually enjoyed the sides more than the meat. The cheese broccoli rice and the sweet slaw were excellent, and what i like about this place are the huge choice of sides... lots to pick from. I ended up getting brisket and pork ribs. Both were good, but i preferred the brisket. The pork ribs were a bit on the dry side, but glad they gave out bbq sauce to boost flavor. I also got a small piece of sweet bread which reminded me of Hawaiian bread. The service was great and it didn't take long at all to get the food. I'll be back when i'm craving BBQ. Visited upon the initial opening at the new location several years ago... I remember it was long awaited and it did not disappoint. The brisket was great then and it's still great now. Plenty of sides to choose from and I chose the steamed veggies and cole slaw (since I'm a Carolina girl). The steamed veggies had more seasoning and flavor than most places where they are lifeless and tasteless, and the slaw was the only thing on my plate that I finished. The sliced brisket had a thick red smoke ring, flavorful, delicious. Wished for a bit more bark and seasoning, but really can't think of any other critiques. Definitely will be back. read more

My husband and I agree that the food was just okay. It was almost as if the meats were not fresh and they were barely warm. Don't expect over the top customer service, they just ask you what you want and that's it. When I asked about the taste of the original sauce he simply said tangy, which doesn't help since most BBQ sauces are "tangy" anyways. The sauce doesn't taste home made, but I'm not sure if it was advertised as being so. I wish I wouldn't have gotten it poured over the meat, but knowledge is hindsight. Stopped in to grab dinner to go yesterday. Got some rib tips and sausage along with potato salad and coleslaw. The rib tips were fantastic, loved them. Sausage was good too. I enjoyed the potato salad, I wish it would have been a tad sweeter but that's my tastes. The coleslaw was really crisp. Again I'd of like it a tad sweeter but it was good as is. Ordered the Hotlinks&Ribs w/ the side of mac&cheese and cole slaw. -Workers didn't really help much w/ saying what kind of sides they had besides just asking what sides you wanted. Assuming you will know from the looks of it. Also didn't really tell me much about the sauces they had so just got the spicy bbq sauce for my meats. -Food looked like they were out for a while too when I arrived so don't expect it tasting fresh when you come on a slow day. -Ribs were okay. Nothing wow'ed me.No special seasoning. Nothing. Straight up bbq ribs. They were soft though which was good. For the hot links, they were okay too but It be better off getting the brisket. -Did not like the mac n cheese at all! Very bland and basic. I expected atleast some kick or something. Looked like something from school lunch. -Atleast the cole slaw was decent. It looked like it was made-inhouse and tasted good to me. - - Overall, Wouldn't come here again because of the lack of food quality as well as the service. My wife knows how much I love a good barbecue restaurant and has been wanting me to try Lone Star for quite a while now. We used the drive through since we were headed to her office. My wife ordered the sliced brisket sandwich (which she has ordered in the past for lunch) and I ordered a hot link sandwich. We decided on regualr potato chips for our side so I can't comment on any of Lone Star's sides. I must say the hot links were not overly spicy but had just enough "kick" to make them interesting. My wife's brisket was very lean and had a great "smoke line" on it, one of the first things I look for at a BBQ establishment. One of this things that that stood out with Lone Star's sandwiches were the buttery toasted buns. The buttery flavor added so much to the sandwich. I was skeptical due to the mixed reviews! But omggggg i sat in and it was very very clean!!! My fiancé and i ordered the pork rib plates and it was amazing! So flavorful! My daughter got the frito pie with the chopped beef and mannnn. I tried some of hers and it was soooo good. The sides were just ok! I actually really enjoyed the potato salad. The bbq beans were average. My daughter loved the broccoli and cheese casserole and honestly i thought it was bomb also. The Mac and cheese was average. But the banana pudding was great. Went here on a Sunday night at about 7pm and they were out of turkey, corn and mac & cheese. I was there placing a delivery order via Postmates and struggled to contact the customer. Long story short there was a minor mistake in how I originally placed the order and I apologized many times for the extra work to fix the order. The staff just had a bad attitude about the situation. It was literally just a matter of replacing a couple of sides but no food was wasted. If I had been a jerk about it I could understand the rudeness but it was totally uncalled for.
