Hollow Wood Burger is an alright place overall. The burgers are decent--not amazing, but not bad either. It wasn't very busy when I went, and the place felt pretty empty. Unfortunately, the service wasn't great; the man working there wasn't very nice, which took away from the experience. I was iffy about trying this place since it is a little more expensive and you can get a burger anywhere. Glad I did, though. The bad part of my experience is that the burger patty is way too big for the sandwich and the bulgogi had so much grease that the bottom bun was getting very soggy and very quick, so literally had to turn the burger upside down up effectively eat it and then the bulgogi kept trying to fall out. Other that this, it was a very good burger. They have a little condiment bar, so you can put toppings on it or just ignore this she just eat it plain. It had enough toppings for plain to be fine. I ordered the Bulgogi burger and it will very good and had a lot of flavor. Added BBQ sauce, pickles, and red onions to it. Other than it not being the easiest thing to eat (look at first paragraph), was very good. For a side, I ordered the kimchi cheese fries and they are very good, except some of the fries weren't fully cooked. Overall, though, these were very good as well. It is a little more expensive than I like to spend on lunch, though. The burger was $9 and the kimchi fried were another $6, so ended up being a $16 meal. So I would def eat here again... There's nothing like a made to order burger and a warm greeting at the door. I ordered the #2 Superstar to go, along with a small portion of fries for ~$10.00. First off, fresh off the grill it looked amazing and the small fries? It could easily be mistakened for a large so SCORE. After the order is completed you're able to help yourself to the condiment bar where you can add lettuce and other veggies. I loved that they provided small containers for the mayo and mustard/ sauces of your choosing so that you could add it when you get home. Overall the taste of the burger was perfect, seasoned well and the beef cooked perfectly...they even toast the buns! The superstar had sauteed mushrooms and onions along with bacon and cheese as seen in the attached photos. The fries were lightly seasoned with salt and some of their special seasoning that isn't spicy but it adds a great flavor that makes the fries addicting. People told me about this place so I had to try it out. I had a bacon cheese burger and the kimchi fries I read about...I did like them alot. I never had any kimchi before. It had some kick to it but I was able to handle it. You pick up your burger and put your own tomato, pickles, onions and stuff on it. This location is the older of the 2 they have ( the other one is on Beach Street) It was not crowded when I was here (saturday afternoon) The place looked clean and the cashier was friendly. This is Pops' favorite place, and that is most likely because it's past his work. That, and the fact that he can add as many toppings to his burger as he pleases. At Hollywood Burger, instead of the cooks preparing the fixings themselves, they allow diners to add whatever vegetables they want. That is not particularly a new thing in restaurants, however it is something that I nor Pops' have seen before at any burger joint. The burgers were absolutely delicious. Not only were they cooked to order, but also packed with flavor. The Hollywood, which is the burger Pops and I chose, had a generous portion of grilled onions, mushrooms, and jalapenos. The toasted bun was easy to grasp and held all in the innards well. It was a tasty meal and worth the price. The fries, albeit a bit small, were pretty good. I recommend adding some seasoning near the topping line to give it a bit more flavor. The onion rings we ordered were the best we have ever had. They were crisp and definitely go well as an appetizer for two. The atmosphere definitely felt like Hollywood, and was clean enough. Pops favored all the celebrity pictures hung up on the walls. What really sparked was the service. They were happy to serve us from start to finish. Pops usually takes a little while to place an order, and the cashier helped him choosing a meal. However amazing the burgers are, the employees and people there are not. Two weeks ago I went with my coworker and we ordered separately for the first time. 10 minutes later I'm enjoying my good and he's not. Frustrating experience all round. I ordered the #15 (I can't pronounce it). It has spicy pork slices, grilled onions, jalapeños & provolone. When it came out, it was the #14 with bulgogi, grilled onions and provolone. I alerted the young lady that there had been a mistake in my order and she proceeded to tell me that I ordered the bulgogi and not the number 15. So therein lies the fundamental disagreement about the entire thing. Not wanting to be a bother, I was willing to eat the mistake - I just wanted my jalapenos. I explained there was obviously a miscommunication in the ordering process and was willing to eat the burger, I just wanted a few jalapeños. She told me that'll be an extra dollar... At this point I'm blown away and baffled. I'm really trying to work with these people. I'm willing to eat the mistake I just wanted some jalapeño - and the young lady stood her ground and insisted I paid another dollar for the jalapeños. That was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back. I asked for a refund and left & will not come back. If you're willing to fight a customer over .10 cents worth of jalapeños &/or not fix your mistake - I have zero interest in doing business with you. read more

Very good and juicy burger, competitive pricing. The meat was a fresh handmade patty, no frozen prefab here. Fries were thin and hot. I was pleasantly surprised by the condiment bar. I could choose my own condiment, two types of onion, two types of lettuce, all the pickles and tomatoes I wanted. Very nice and clean, bathrooms were very clean also. Although I love the burgers here and have eaten a few since my first review, I have to say that every time I eat here I get an awful upset stomach afterwards along with all the crap that comes with it. I'm not sure if it's because the meat isn't stored at a cold enough temperature before cooking or what. The burger is always thoroughly cooked with no pink inside so I don't know what it is but I had to quit this place sadly. This is burger heaven for me. They make an almost perfect burger on a perfectly baked bun. You order the burger of your choice and when it's ready, you take it to their salad/fixins' bar. They've got such a variety at this self-service bar, that you can add as much as you want. If you're a fan of shredded lettuce over leaf lettuce, they've got both. If you like 5 slices of tomatoes, you can get it and it's all very fresh! I understand the owners have a Korean background and they offer some basic Korean dishes, but they also make Kimchi fries. Kimchi is spicy-fermented cabbage. It may sound a bit weird, but when it's on the fries, it is very good. I love that a "burger joint" can let you experience another culture other than just American. They also offer chicken, but the burgers are the star! If I want a burger and I'm within 10 miles, I'm eating here.
