Very disappointed with the quality of work from Veteran Air…read more I called Veteran Air before a major cold snap to have our heat pump checked out. Their technician, Jonathan Scholtz, diagnosed a corroded indoor evaporator coil and low system pressure. He also tried to upsell me on replacing the entire unit -- I should have realized that was a warning sign. Instead, they replaced just the coil. I paid the full amount ($3,233.85 after the veteran discount) and hoped that would be the end of it. About five months later, I started noticing the condensate pan overflowing and draining outside the house. I tried clearing the lines myself, but the dripping continued. Since it took Lisa from Veteran Air several hours to respond, I went ahead and called another HVAC company for help. They charged me a $150 on-site visit fee. The other technician was shocked by what he found: when Veteran Air replaced the coil, they never reinstalled the baffles around it and didn't even secure the coil properly in the brackets. There was basically no way for the condensation to drain correctly. He also confirmed the system pressure was still extremely low. The other techs could have fixed it right then, but they didn't want me to be out of pocket for repairs that should be covered under warranty. They recommended I call Veteran Air back to make it right. Here are pictures of what the other HVAC tech saw. I'm really disappointed -- I expected better, especially from a company that serves veterans. I wouldn NOT recommend Veteran Air based on this experience.

There are some underlying duct layout inconsistencies in my particular system but the valve issue was found and they are taking care of it. Aside from that, they really do have great service. All the techs have been thorough and pleasant. The owner, Henry, personally came out to look at my system after the ongoing issues and explained everything to me in an easy to understand way. It's clear now that I've chosen the right company to do business with. Last night, I was pissed because my system was having issues. Today, I feel confident that they found the problem and solution. They're making it right. That is how to turn a bad experience into a good one. Will give them 5 stars as soon as everything is up and running and no other issues arise. Service and ownership is rock solid.

Every the same issue would pop up and the guy would tell me the last guy did something wrong. By this point I'd gotten enough education around a/c issues that I decided I needed to just call someone completely new and see if he'll listen. Tommy listened and walked me through some things first to help. Then he got someone out to tell me what's going on. He was honest about everything before work started. Hit a snag later on but let me know not to worry he'd make sure we got air going. He did that and the price was fair and not a cent more then what he told me it would be. the house is finally cooling like it did when I bought it.

We used Competition A/C & Heat to replace a duct from our ac to our bedroom. They then patched the hole and scheduled to come back a few days later and replaced the duct without issue for an affordable price. I had called three other companies and had them all over to evaluate and replace the duct and each company kept quoting me a whole new AC. I appreciate Competition because they saw the issue and fixed it, not trying to upsell or try to convince me my working AC is a dud. They are a family business, who do the work. I talked to Tommy to schedule, and then his sons came and completed the work. Thank you!

When done I have an outdoor unit that is not the same brand, color or install. Are you kidding me? What a hodgepodge. On other work we even paid more, due to a mistake on Mr. Dodson's end. We treated him more than fair. They didn't even remove the dilapidated pad under the old condenser. I asked for them to put a new one. When they came out they slapped the new on top of the old one. This is the dodgiest work I have ever seen and I have been in construction 30 years. Please do yourself a favor and call a more experienced and seasoned professional who won't yell curse words at you after you paid him 100% for a quality job but will not honor the original quote request you asked him to do.

My experience is completely different than the other reviews here…read more Killenair was assigned to me by my Home Warrantee company and the tech showed up promptly, but I had not received a phone call to arranged the appointment, still - in the middle of a 100° heat wave (heat indexes ~ 110), I was grateful, as I have a medical condition (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) that makes this an emergency, not an inconvenience or discomfort. I specifically purchased and maintain a home warrantee because I cannot tolerate my A/C-Heating going out. The tech told me that due to the age of the system (1982) he was recommending replacement. This was on Thursday. I was told he would have his report in that day, that it normally took a day or two for them to approve things, that the system could be ordered in a day or so, and then it would take 4-5 hours to install. They were paid their $75 service call fee by check. When I had not heard anything by Tuesday, I called the home warrantee folks who said they had not heard back from Killenair at all. They bumped my claim to emergency priority status due to my medical condition and said they would contact Killenair to follow up. By Wednesday night, Killenair had not returned multiple phone calls and emails from the home warrantee company or me. Home warrantee work does not pay as well as "normal" work for these companies, during slow times it helps pay the bills, while during high demand times like this it is easy to let it take a back seat, but willfully ignoring work you have accepted-especially in a case like this where there are medical issues is inexcusable and unethical for any business. A second company had to be called in, a full week after Killenair completely failed in their commitments to both this customer and to the home warrantee company. I certainly hope they do better than Killenair (it's virtually impossible to do worse). Now, with another weekend intervening, it will likely be almost 2 full weeks before this gets resolved -at best. This is catastrophic for me, and I can not describe the pain it creates & may well send me to the ER. I would think not just twice, but three times before ever calling or using Killenair for any type of service. They certainly deserve to lose their contract with Old Republic Home Protection.

The "somewhat" fixed it but I think they were short staffed and not as knowledgeable. Another company owner recommended Geoff and 7K Mechanical after having her company mini split repaired successfully. From the first call to the correctly repaired unit everything was so professional and correct. Date and time was set for repair and was told I would receive a text on pending arrival which I did and an ETA. Geoff was on time and truck was clean, fully stocked and most of all he was delightful, knowledgeable and very thorough in detection and repairs. I called to get our main a/c also repaired at a later date that had been worked on by 3 or 4 different companies all saying they could not find the Freon leak but gladly charged to to replace the missing Freon. (We had one on that unit too!) Again, Geoff arrived on time, was extremely thorough and checked everything including the inside unit to make sure no additional leaks were found after finding the culprit. Geoff even mentioned a part that would extend the life of our unit which we gladly added. Prices were very fair! We are so grateful to have found a company that places ethics, honesty and knowledge above all else. It's a wonderful feeling to have a company to call on to make sure we stay warm and cool that has such integrity!
