We came here on a Saturday for a late lunch / early dinner and a couple of tables were full; but, by the time we were leaving, not many tables were empty and they have an extensive dinging area. They also have a private dining room on the second floor that you can book for events. The staff are friendly and helpful although the service could be quite faster as it could be tough to attract the staff's attention. We chose "Dine for Two!" Option which gives you the option of 1 appetizer, 2 mains and 1 dessert (from selected menu) for $59.99 which is a good price. We ordered "Tableside Smashed Guacamole and Chips" for appetizer, "Grilled Chicken Fajitas", "BBQ Back Ribs; 2/3 Rack" for main and "Churros" for dessert. I had decided to come back to see LoneStar when I was healthy. So I came back. Again the staff were very friendly and considerate. They gave me a class of water after I had finished my meal. I appreciated that. As for the meal, i had the chips and salsa . The chips are very good all by themselves. For the main i had the grilled chicken tacos with bacon and sauce. It was a lot of stuff on the tacos but it was very tasty. Of course the southwest rice is totaly rice is totally underated, is pack a solid punch for a side dish. There wasn't much ambience as it was very quiet there and i would not say it is a sports bar but it is a great place to bring a group of people and staff is a big positve to this place. read more

Monday evening around 7pm. This place is full of people. It seemed very busy for a Monday night! However, I was able to get my order in and drinks/food out in no time. Very fast and attentive server. A little on the loud side but it was not an issue for me. Complimentary chips were super yummy. I had too much of them that I was half full before I started to get onto my main dish, fajitas. Steak fajitas, it was absolutely amazing. I did not ask for it but the meat was medium rare, which I would have asked for, came out still sizzling on the plate! We stopped by this location and ordered the fajitas for two combo that was being promoted, that came with extra meat and the service was absolutely horrific. The Service: The service at this location was really slow. We arrived famished and it took them over two hours to bring us our food. It was a work night and we wanted to get our food and be on our way so we could be well rested for the work week. After dining here, neither of us were well rested. The Food: The food was good but the service was so slow and the waitress did not replenish our tortillas and chips the way they would at other locations. Would we Return? Wish we had read the reviews first. We sat at the bar and Cinnamon was our server. She was friendly and efficient. My husband ordered the spicy shrimp tacos with a side of rice and beans. I ordered the chicken chimichanga with a side of rice and beans. The chicken inside was good, but the tortilla shell was completely raw. I mentioned it to the server. She yelled over to Randy and that was that. We were still charged full price. No drinks taken off the bill, absolutely no compensation or acknowledgement. There's something comical about eating "Texas" food in Ontario while being from Texas. The decorations are obnoxious, very over the top Texan but I like that they went all in on the decorations. Unfortunately the food left much to be desired. One of the exceptions was the pickle margarita. It sounded horrible in theory, but I couldn't resist ordering it and it was actually phenomenal. And the gator bites were actually quite tasty, and the chipotle ranch (?) they came with was also really nice and flavorful. The entrees though were awful. The "enchiladas" were hard, stale, and dry. The beans weren't even standard refried beans, they tasted like pork and beans?? My boyfriend described his sandwich as "mid". Service was so-so. Our waitress was nice, but then randomly stopped coming around. I saw her at a table across the way and it looked like she decided to have a shift meal. You do you I guess.. Place is a typical chain - relaxed atmosphere with a bar you can sit at. Staff was very nice and attentive. Got the steak fajitas - they were okay. The subject of fajitas randomly came up one day and we were thinking it had been way too long since we'd eaten the delectable Tex-Mex staple, so it made sense that we found ourselves driving out towards the airport on a recent Saturday morning. We arrived around noon and the place was pretty much empty. We were shown to a booth right next to another booth that already had people sitting in it, which was kind of annoying given how not-crowded the joint was, but it wasn't a huge concern. We knew walking in that we wanted to order fajitas, obviously, so we decided to go with the Grilled Steak & Grilled Chicken option, which also comes with "fresh baked tortillas, house-made Pico de gallo, sour cream, cheddar cheese, lettuce, southwest rice, and guacamole." We also ordered pickled jalapenos on the side. We got our drinks pretty quickly, and I had forgotten that Lone Star gives you complimentary nachos and salsa as a starter. They could easily half-assed this by doing jarred salsa and bagged nachos, but both items are fresh and seriously delicious. I probably could've just eaten that stuff for my main and been happy. The fajitas arrived shortly after and came to the table still sizzling. Who doesn't love that? Anyway, we began building our tacos using the provided components and they absolutely lived up to our craving. Everything was just so good and right on point, although (admittedly) the steak could've been more tender and the chicken was a little dry. But once you include it in a taco with all that other stuff, you don't even notice small little problems like that. Our server was very friendly and helpful, too. Food: All tables receive tortilla chips with salsa, I decided to all try the queso. This came hot - melted cheese and chiili peppers, it was absolutely delicious. Fajitas - they have a variety of different meat selections. We decided to go for the grilled steak & buffalo chicken combo. This was accompanied with all the sides and warm tortilla. I personally was not too fond of the chewy fat pieces on the steak and chicken. There was definitely more onion on the plate than meat. The complete disappointment was the Churros - instant regret once I took the first bite. It was hard to bite and almost hollow inside, the caramel/chocolate sauce could not salvage these churros. We came here on a Saturday night. The hockey game was on so the place was very busy and loud because there are plenty of TVs around the restaurant. We wanted to try to have a reasonably priced, decent steak instead of being gouged by the usual expensive steakhouses nearby. We were seated at a booth which was nice as we were not interested in the game being played on the TVs. Our server was attentive and friendly with a nice smile when she brought the complimentary nacho chips with salsa. We ordered the 11 oz top sirloin, medium rare. One with fries and one with a Caesar salad. The steaks were done perfectly and were served hot and juicy. The cut was not an expensive cut but the taste and texture were pretty darn good. I would rate it 8 out of 10 for texture and taste and 9.5/10 for value for money. Our drinks were well done ( a margarita and a double rum and coke, sorry Julian came with me ). In town for a couple days and decided to try it, there specialty is fajitas, a very large selection of fajitas & they make their tortillas fresh. I had chips, salsa, cheese dip and mushroom and veggie fajitas w/ rice. Pros: restaurant was nice, decent ambience and the staff were all very friendly, I really had a pleasant chat with a couple of the staff. Cons: surprisingly the only real con was the fajitas, remember this is what they're claim to fame; like I said I had the mushroom & veggie fajitas and they were not good! They had an extreme amount of onion, 80%+ onion (see pic) and a very very sparse amount of mushroom, even though mushroom was in the name! They had ZERO flavor, bland, bland, bland! A little salt and pepper would have gone alone way! I can't say these are the worst veggie fajitas I've ever had but they're definitely in the bottom 3, what a disappointing waste of $23! I debate 2 or 3 stars but aside from the fajitas it was alright and I suspect if you order something other than the Mushroom & Veggie fajitas you might have better luck. We started with the dirty Nachos dish. The dish was huge and could have fed 4 people. It was good and tasty. We had the calamari and it was okay. The fajitas dish was diy meal where you assemble the fajitas. It was tasty. Would we go back? I doubt it since it pretty far and the food while good was not outstanding. For a start...staff was great. Onevof our party ordered the BBQ brisket sandwich that was very dry... even asked for some bbq sauce on the side...really did not help. Now when we told the waiter he took the sandwich off the bill.... soooo all good. Not bad food. Went to this location with my family one evening. The food was pretty good. I got the wings and queso with chips. My queso was at first cold but they warmed it up and I was able to enjoy it. I assume it set out while the other larger entrees were being cared for. The queso was a little spicy but I did enjoy it. My mom got the shrimp fajitas which come with endless sides like lettuce, cheese and soup cream. They give you a very small amount at one time but you can continue to get refills. The beverages were okay but nothing to write home about. This is a solid place with a variety of menu items but the focus is tex-mex. I will say when we went the service was very slow. This is my first visit to this location of the Lone Star grill. I ordered a 7" striploin with veggies on the side. Normally this would come with a baked potato, veggies, and onion rings, but I wanted something a little lighter. I ordered my steak rare, and I also ordered the pan fried mushrooms. I eat gluten free, so this gave me some good variety. The steak was tough. It was a real effort to cut through it. I order steaks rare all of the time, but it took considerable effort to cut it and to chew it. The veggies were great. The mushrooms were not. I've had them at other locations, but they were different in that something different was in the sauce. I ended up skipping the mushrooms. The location itself is very large with lots of parking, and has lots of seating. It's clean, and the staff were friendly. The nachos and dip with the cilantro in the nachos were delicious, absolutely no complaints. The fajitas were also generally well flavoured, nicely cooked steak strips with decent amount of toppings (lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheddar, guacamole, rice) however it could have used one extra pita and the rice was extremely dry and bland. Overall the food and service was good but not worth the price of about $33 per person incl tax and tip for half a dirty nachos and the fajitas. The first and only time I had stepped into a Lone Star Texas Grill was about ten years ago. I remember that visit as fairly lackluster and since then hadn't had a strong affinity towards Lone Star Texas Grill and their many locations all over Ontario. However, I have to say that returning here I was honestly blown away by the new look, taste, and flavours of this Tex-Mex chain restaurant. The Coconut Shrimp was great! It was perfectly breaded with coconut shavings and fresh out of the fryer. The Texas Red dipping sauce made it more delicious. The Lone Star Salad was a healthy and fresh salad made with mixed greens, fresh tomatoes, green peppers, sauteed red peppers and onions, glazed pecans, and jack cheese tossed in a honey spiced citrus vinaigrette. I liked this salad because there were elements of raw and semi-cooked items. The honey spiced citrus vinaigrette indeed was a little sweet yet spicy too. The Chicken Fingers were really good too. I also loved the ranch dipping sauce that came with this. I tried three types of fajitas that night. (All of their fajitas arrived on a sizzling skillet of grilled peppers and onions and piled high with the protein of your choice [or veggies] and served with fresh-baked tortillas, southwest rice, shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, and a choice of side.) Despite sharing family style, we did get our own portion of shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and pico de gallo. The fresh-baked tortillas were also served in a container that kept the soft tortillas fresh and hot. The Mesquite-Grilled Chicken was a boneless chicken breast butter brushed and seasoned with a unique blend of Texas spices. It was paired with their original recipe mole, which was so good! The Mesquite-Grilled Steak was a traditional skirt steak seasoned with Lone Star steak salt and then basted and grilled over Mesquite wood. The Veggie Fiesta was a sight to behold because it looked so amazing piled with fresh avocado wedges. There were also Mesquite-grilled Portobello mushrooms and Haloumi cheese with grilled peppers and onions as well as black bean and corn salsa. It was drizzled with traditional chimichurri sauce too. In my fajita, I put some of the skirt steak, chicken strips, and veggies. I put mole sauce, guacamole, and some spicy relish too. I loved how soft the tortilla was! This restoraunt is great. This location is not. Diamond was our server and we had a pretty poor experience. The sizzling fajitas didn't come sizzling or hot for that matter (the only reason we came was for this dish). This is not usually finger food but today it was maybe they should invest in some tongs. We weren't asked how we like the steak so it came out really rare. A resourceful staff member took us To a booth with cushioning which as torn on one side and wet from being freshly wiped. Drinks; marguerita please - "oh, we have run out of padron" but recommend another brand - a Google search drew a blank. Fresh lime - "no, we use a concentrate and dilute it" when asked for a tequila plus limes to do a DIY drink we were given an odd stare. Guacamole - looked like it came from a pump dispenser. Waitress - "Please no sour cheese" - what follows - sour cheese Seriously - perhaps this establishment deserves to have been left to die rather than thrive as a perveyor of "zombie cuisine" ie. This Lone Star Texas Grill is located near the north west intersection of Carlingview and Dixon on the Etobicoke side of the 427. Perhaps a decade? That's the last time I stepped inside this place. I live less than 10 minutes away by car and while the airport strip is close to where I live I don't necessarily dine along Dixon often unless it's the Airport Rd side to go to Zet's. This restaurant is a standalone structure with their own parking lot which is free for patrons and while the establishment has a large bar and dining area (separate) the amount of total seating this place offers is quite staggering and they seem to be able to fill it, at least the evening we were there. It was the choice of the mother of the birthday boy to select this place and while I like Tex/Mex I know this place is a chain type place, you know like Chili's. My problem is that I'm spoiled and I'm not afraid to admit it. I'm spoiled by having good to decent to amazing Mexican food and the Tex/Mex spin well we're nowhere near the Rio Grande so... ya. I get that this place won't be awesome but can it be at least decent? That's what my expectations were coming into this place. Well I ended up ordering the Fajita Fiesta which includes, grilled chicken, grilled steak, shrimp, 4 bones of pork ribs and the other sizzling things on the platter for two which I shared with my wife. The meal comes with all the sides included which are unlimited that you'd also expect like lettuce, tomatoes, cheese etc. Flour tortillas also come in those plastic holding containers and have maybe 4 or 5 in each. Not for anything but honestly there's really nothing special about the food here. Based on the fact that there's some really good Mexican/Central American/South American places here in the city as far as the south of the border (US border that is) it's not like we don't have the capability of having better options up here. This place though I don't know if it's the fact that it's a chain or that they're catering to the broader general public there's absolutely nothing of risk on this menu. The quality of the fajitas, side and everything else honestly tastes like it was made for that type of consumption. From the cheese looking like it came out of those ready shredded bags from Kraft to the blandness of the meat to the hot sauces that are not even remotely hot, yup this place is that type of place. Still, I wasn't expecting the kind of authenticity I'd find in the US but rather exactly what this place is which is a chain Tex/Mex environment. Chichi's back in the day was also a chain Tex/Mex (more Mex perhaps?) and their fried iced cream was actually really good. The version here was a disappointment I'm afraid to say. The crunch was not hot and crunchy but rather cold and soggy. My friend's mom ordered a frozen margarita you know, it's a special event why not have a special drink? It came in a plastic stein type mug, not a stemmed glass with flash. Me, I was just drinking brand name beer. To sum it up going to the Lone Star and expecting good Tex/Mex is like going to Red Lobster or Bubba Gump and expecting good seafood. They're simply "chained" to their own rhythm so don't expect extraordinary, just expect standard status quo. Somehow this has become my go-to Lone Star location. Service here is quick and friendly! The only thing I wish is that they didn't bring the chips and salsa as soon as you are seated because I can eat baskets as they are pretty addictive especially when the chips are hot and the salsa is chunky! They have a couple specials which seem to bring me back regularly, Tuesday is $12.99 chimichanga night for me and Wednesday is a large sized ribs for the price of a regular portion! The 3 amigo margaritas for $9.99 are a tasty treat! You get to pick three different flavors, there is five to choose from! The food here is your average Tex-Mex options. Alot of birthdays seem to happen here everytime I come, also there does seem to be alot of kids that attract here for their birthdays.
