Had the absolute worst experience EVER at this place in 2018!! Was so bad I won't detail the experience! I changed to another dental group. There are 2 or three dentists that work this office. I had a good dentist in the years that I first started going there. Dr. Papadopoulos. He was awesome. He left and my subsequent visits led me to this middle age asian dentist who should be disbarred!! I'll just share this much...he tried to pull my tooth waaay after the numbing medication had worn off! It was horrible and his assistant was just as bad!! Never again! I hate this place. I never understood why we have to come back multiple times before completing one job. I came in last week and told them I was in pain and I couldn't eat... and what did they do clean my teeth and tOOk an X-ray. No medication no nothing. Then I asked the lady at the front desk why do I always have to come so many times for 1 procedure she says a tooth filling takes a long time and that they have other patients waiting. So they try and get everyone seen in a timely manner. Well I have been to other dentistry and have gotten fully service on 1 visit on most occasions. Not to mention I had my caps put on some years back with long Beach dental and they completely mismatched my teeth color. And when I asked what could we do to correct it, there was nothing. They said they matched them the best they could. I ended up going to South Bay dentistry to get veneers that cost me 10,000. But you know what it was well worth it. I'm switching offices at the beginning of the year. HATE THAT PLACE. read more

If I could give this place a negative star, I would. This is for the experience I had with Dr. Vincent DiLoreto. This is your warning. LEAVE!!! I had an appointment to do a deep cleaning. In the middle of deep cleaning, DiLoreto was so rough, that he took one of my filling off! I had this filling for 10+ years and nothing happen to it. He was so rough that he broke one of the metal scraper thing off while cleaning my teeth! Instead of apologizing, he keep cursing under his breath. They had to do x-ray 3-4 times to make sure no metal was in my mouth or in between my teeth. Ok, accidents happen, i'm not gonna fault him for it. Once I was done, the receptionist made an appointment for me the following week to get the filling that he took off replaced. I came the following week, was on the chair, when he came in and question his dental assistant why I wasn't be charge. She said that was because he took the filling off. He said, "doesn't matter. Still charge her" This is where it was starting to irk me. Why the heck are you gonna charge me when YOU'RE the one that took it off??? Receptionist came in and told me that she was sorry, but she have to charge me. I was like, "No, he took it off, he's gonna replace it" I left and went to another dentist. At the end of my filling with the other dentist, he highly recommend for me to do a deep cleaning. I told him that I just had it done 2 weeks ago. He was surprised. Long story short, I took DiLoreto to court to get my money, I won the case, and now waiting for him to pay up, but he hasn't. If you want a bad dentist, come here. If you want actual work done on your teeth, then take this as a warning! DO NOT COME. I rather pay for a different dentist then use my insurance for DiLoreto to touch my teeth again. read more

My first dentist visit since moving to California... two years in the making. I'm usually pretty good about hitting the 6 month checkups, but after seeing the same dentist for 20 years... change is hard to come by sometimes. I did a proximity search on my insurance's website to get an idea of which would be covered. Long Beach Dental/Dr. Papadopolous came up, so I figured it'd be worth a shot. I waited about 10 minutes in the waiting room, but I was also filling out new-patient forms during that time. The assistant who took the x-rays was very quick, but not rushed (two different things). Dr. P came in, introduced himself, and checked out my x-rays. We talked about prior damage (due to a fall on the ice) and how things were going. He then did a quick cleaning/check on my teeth and said the between his inspection, and the x-rays... everything looked good. No cavities! Yay for Steve. The assistant then cleaned/polished my teeth and I was out of there within an hour. I noticed a few bad reviews, but I have nothing negative to say. They didn't try to sell me on "unneeded procedures", my wait was short, the staff was very friendly and professional. I'm glad I came here... and will be definitely coming back in 6 months! read more

Long story short my husband came home after seeing Dr. Sollitt for a broken denture infuriated. End result: the broken denture was sent to the lab that "repaired" the denture -which no longer fit- so Dr. Sollitt tried to trim the piece and he took so much off that it left a massive gap in the back. This was after the doctor insisted on taking new, unnecessary impressions. Anyways we had to contact our insurance co to make a complaint and urgent switch to a dentist who specializes in dentures- UNLIKE the inexperienced Dr. Sollitt. Beware- there are good and bad in every physician specialty- and this physician is one of the latter! Take your business somewhere else! read more

The first time I came here about 3 years ago, I had a terrible experience. The woman who cleaned my teeth attacked me with the vigor of a famished lioness. I walked away in pain, swearing that I would never return, but my insurance changed and I found myself back here again today. This time I had a wonderful experience (although I was given some very bad news). I didn't wait very long at all, and the woman who cleaned my teeth and did my Xrays (Nancy) was incredibly nice and gentle. I was then seen by Dr. Papadopoulis himself (he's one of the main doctors here), who was very nice, helpful, and informative. Not only did I learn that I have my first cavity (two of them, in fact--I went 26 years without ever having one so this was quite a blow), but I also learned that Listerine really doesn't do anything for gingivitis. The doctor compared it to wearing a wetsuit in the ocean in that the wetsuit keeps the water from seeping in. (In other words, the Listerine doesn't get down under the gums because it's just liquid.) He suggested flossing every day and brushing more instead. Well, now that you know my entire dental history, also know that I had a great experience here today (even though I'm now thoroughly depressed). I've never experienced Novocaine or drilling or fillings before--I'm scared! But I'm definitely going to request Dr. Papadopoulis when the black day of despair comes. read more

Though I was quite frightened since it was my first dental visit since 2012, Dr. Papadopoulos and his crew made me feel VERY comfortable. I got a teeth checkup and cleaning and the discovery of having to get a root canal done. Dr. Papadopoulos called the root canal specialists as quick as possible to send me there because he didn't want me to suffer with anymore pain... very grateful they fit me into their schedule. Overall fantastic experience and I actually can't wait to visit again... who would've thought I'd ever say that about the Dentist. This place deserves 10stars! read more

I came in for a filling on my first cavity with Dr. DiLoreto. I was extremely disappointed with how unfriendly he was. When he first came into the room he immediately began discussing my x-rays. I thought, "there is no way he is talking to me right? I'm a new patient and he'd at least introduce himself right?" NOPE! He just went straight to discussing my teeth without even looking at me or acknowledging that I was another human present in the room! In addition, I witnessed him getting frustrated with the dental assistant several times and being quite rude to her. It seemed she was new to the job and at one point he began yelling into the hallway for the other assistant to come and help her. I found it extremely disrespectful and unprofessional the way he handled the situation. I decided to get over all of this because hey, if he's good at what he does, I don't need him to be cordial with me or others (i guess). Unfortunately, my fill was so close to the nerve that it was still hurting more than a week after the fill. I came in for another check up and once again... Dr. DiLoreto comes into the room and starts talking about my x-rays without saying anything to me. His conclusion is that I should just continue to wait it out and I may need a root canal. I am sitting there listening to his explanation when I notice that... HE HAD CHEWING TOBACCO IN HIS LIP!!!!!!!!!!! What kind of dentist is going to have dip in his lip while working with patients?!?! I was in so much shock I asked the front desk woman to verify that I wasn't seeing things. She hesitated in confirming that he did in fact have dip in his lip... What kind of doctor of the mouth is going to have chewing tobacco in his mouth while speaking to patients???? I called and complained to the office manager and he just tried to play it off like Dr. DiLoreto was that crazy uncle you put up with because he's harmless. I don't know about you, but I expect a little more professionalism and cleanliness from my dentist. read more

After over 20 years of going to this office my dentist ups and leaves with no forwarding info and my mouth with lots of 1/2 done work. Over the past 2 yrs I've only had very bad experiences. One of the greatest was a tooth implant that went wrong and still has not been corrected!!! I've spent countless hours away from work in the office and lab for them to shape and match my one tooth, which has been a monumental FAIL! I finally went to another dental office. What I found there, besides great service, the latest technology and explanations on what they were doing and the reason was that I have Sooo much work that needs to be done and redone! The caveat was going in to pay, what my insurance didn't, and finding I owed $800 more than what I thought I heard them tell me the pay off was!! I just wanted to pay, wash my hands of this place and walk away, but now I must pay the 800. In my opinion, that should be erased for alllllllll the trouble I've been put through there. I needed some local dental services done as my parents' insurance would not cover me after I turn 26 :/. I am so glad I found this place. Dr.Diloretto took care of my needs wisdom tooth extraction, cleaning, fillings, etc all within a month. The front desk did an excellent job with scheduling and respecting my time. I never had to wait more than 10 min after my appointment and I was usually done within an hour from my appointment. Dr. Diloretto knows what he is doing. it took him less than 5 minutes to extract my wisdom tooth. He messed up one of my fillings but he was honest, and totally redid the whole thing. read more

Dr. Diloretto has been my dentist for a long time and he's great, he's funny and very knowledgeable. He's great with kids and loves to talk about sports. He's the reason why I come back, but the front office (or someone) has messed up appointments times too often that give this place a 3. Its convenient that they'll text you an appointment reminder, but say that the time has changed (happened twice to me). They were going to help my wife when she was there early and signed up, she complained and was told that she needed to tell them that she was present. Last year, I got sent home because I was 5 minutes late. It's small (about 3 rooms)and well kept, quaint and moderately priced. Plenty of parking out back. Friendly staff. But some times too many people are booked at the same time and so you are expected to wait at least an extra 30 minutes or more. You get charged if you miss your appointment, but nothing when they mess up yours. read more

I absolutely love Dr. Shapiro...he is the newer dentist and he is very good in my opinion. Explains everything very well, etc. I also like the dental assistants, they always show concern about my dental issues. HOWEVER, the gals at the front desk leave a lot to be desired. They are very rude, especially Annie. She will completely ignore the dentist while he is trying to explain what is going on with the patient standing before her, but she ignores him while she keeps on typing on her computer. Because of this she did not write down what the doctor was saying and therefore did not submit the paperwork to my insurance company to get approval, costs etc. This is the second time they did this to me, where they promised but did not follow through on getting this info from the insurance company. These are just a couple of the things they have screwed up at the front desk. I am at verge of changing dental offices soley based on the front desk! read more

I've been going to this place since I was a kid (mostly because that's where my dental insurance will cover.) My dentist, Dr. Sollitt, is actually quite personable, but the reception staff has changed and they are AWFUL! Afew years ago they misplaced my chart three times in two months! They then tried to blame me, and made me start filling out new-client paperwork before my chart mysteriously reappeared. More recently, I've been having discomfort in my teeth. About a month ago I tried to call to set up an appointment and the receptionist was so rude over the phone, insisting that my dentist worked only between the hours of 1-3, that I gave up trying to make an appointment. Since then I have been dealing with periodic pain in two of my teeth because I can't gather the willpower to talk to one of their receptionists. read more

Still as happy as I've been all along with this dentist, but wanted to take a word to mention Dr. Solitt in particular. As I'm discovering with each dental challenge I walk in with, he is really knowledgeable, not just for facts and technique but a bigger-picture of how all that really ends up working in your teeth and jaw long after you've left his office. I always feel like I get thorough information that outlines all the major and minor factors to consider. Plus, he's really nice about it. Some dentists will lay a big guilt trip on you for not meeting their professional expectations in terms of dental care. Dr. Solitt hasn't done that once to me, though I have probably given him cause to do so. He'll give it to you straight, but with a touch of kindness, and no stern judgments. Completely unrelated to the quality of the work, the location of this office is tres convenient. read more

My work referred me to this place because a fellow coworker goes here. I've been looking for a local dentist for sometime and I figured give it a shot, it can't be that bad, right??? It was really bad. I had scheduled an appointment to get a standard teeth cleaning and they said they would have to take x-rays also on the initial visit. That is fine, do both in the same trip... however they never got around to cleaning my teeth after the x-rays. They told me the doctor had another appointment approaching and that I would have to schedule a follow up to get the cleaning. It's bad enough going to the dentist, but what's even worse is forcing me to return for what should have been done in the initial trip. That is not going to encourage me to come back. But even worse, the doctor (reminded me of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde) who was inspecting my teeth had very little care of where his fingers where before, during, and after sticking them in my mouth for what he should have been doing with an inspection-mirror and other "sterilized" hand tools. I was so disgusted that I could hardly talk on my way out to the parking lot where my natural response was to spit so excessively that you might think I just stumbled over from rounds of beer-pong at the frat house across the street. Hopefully those people that were in the parking lot took my "non-verbal" advise and cancelled their appointments, it would be worth the cancellation fee that this place also charges. He goes in today and the dentist does some X-rays and tells him to make another appointment because they are really busy? How inefficient and unprofessional is that? The reason the appointment was made was to have the tooth fixed in the first place. After this incident I will be changing dentist! Steer clear if you have a cracked tooth or are in pain. The bad news: I had to have my first tooth removed due to a crack under a crown that was unable to be fixed. The good news: I felt some pressure--but absolutely no pain--and I was out of there in a matter of minutes. Apparently there's some pretty standard post-extraction protocol for a case like mine, but Dr. Papadopoulos didn't pressure me into a thing. Long Beach dental is awesome! They have super a really friendly staff! I never have to wait more than 5 minutes for my appointment time and all the staff are so attentive! Dr. Papadopolous is by far the best dentist I've had and I've had many. He makes me feel really comfortable and especially when I have to get shots to numb my mouth! I hate getting shots to numb my mouth But I never feel any shots he gives - he's very gentle and attentive and very thorough! I've been coming here for almost 20 years to doctor Deloretto and he just randomly left so I was recently scheduled to see Dr Tran. First of all he never introduces himself to me during my cleaning never even talked to me about what his findings were. After my cleaning the dental assistant was the one that told me the doctor found 2 cavities. I didn't believe them so I had my X-rays emailed to me and I sent them to my cousin who works at a dental office as an assistant. According to her doctor my X-rays were awful and I had 1 cavity for sure but the X-rays were so bad there was no way to tell if I even had a cavity on the other side. So I called Long Beach Dental Group and scheduled my 1 cavity to be worked on, which I then had double checked by a different dentist and a root canal special. DR Tran did on awful job on my filling, he left a gap between my molars so tons of food gets stuck, the filling was hanging off my tooth it was not filed down to be smooth, and the worst part of it all was the pain I went through for the following week after the filling. I would wake up at 4 am with a throbbing tooth ache, i wasn't able to eat, and now I need to get it fixed. I'm definitely not coming back here again. This was a nightmare ! read more

This is the first dentist that I have been to in my whole life that I feel like I can trust. The reason I found them is because I first saw another dentist because of some tooth pain, and after waiting an hour past my appointment time that dentist told me I needed a root canal and that it would be $2,600. I thought that seemed incorrect seeing as I was not in that much pain, so I went to Long Beach Dental to get a second opinion. LB Dental told me that they could do a crown. I was soooo stoked because it was less expensive and less invasive than a root canal. I went ahead with the crown. The first impression that was sent out was a little off, and I am glad that he did not try to make it work, he said it was not good enough and sent out for a new one. A couple weeks later he put the crown in and my tooth feels brand new. I also really like that he would show me my teeth and explain what was wrong and gave me different options. Either your reviews can be trusted to be unbiased or they are not, and choosing some reviews (which on the first page of discarded reviews, all of them coincidentally, had only one star) has an appearance of bias. I think it is important to leave my review so others can be aware when an office not only provides poor service, but overcharges without ones knowledge. Therefore, I am posting my review again, and hopefully this time you will leave it available for the benefit of Yelp viewers: My father, an 82 year old disabled veteran, had an appointment last September to have a misfitted crown adjusted. The dentist noticed two small cavities in a tooth and she said she would go ahead and fill them. There is no cost for fillings, according to his insurance plan, but when when he got home and reviewed his bill, there was a charge of $110. He called the dental insurer to ask about the charge and he was informed the dentist chose to use an upgraded filling material, without asking his permission, rather than the normal filling material, where there would have been no charge. He filed an appeal. Being on a fixed income, but coming from a household where his own father was a dentist and not feeling comfortable leaving a questionable outstanding debt unpaid, in December he called Long Beach Dental to inquire about the appeal status. Instead of an apology from Long Beach Dental Group for upselling him without his knowledge or permission, they told him they would write off what was their misdeed to begin with, and they no longer wanted him as a patient. He served his country so businesses can have the freedom to choose their customers, but freedom cannot reconcile character and ethics of a business, and how they treat our veterans and senior citizens. This must be what happens when you have so many patients, the volume of patients overtakes the importance of the care of those patients. Shame on you! read more
