Whenever we want a real good burger and a cocktail we would come here but today for Father's Day I decided to try their breakfast menu. OMG...talk about nice portions and it was delicious! We had the special which was the 2x2x2 (2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, and 2 blueberry pancakes), chicken fried steak with country potatoes and sourdough toast, and the biscuits and gravy which four of us shared. Looks a little scary from the outside and the inside isn't much better, but DANG! Good burgers! Went there for lunch once (good!) and for drinks after work one day. They had a limited beer selection (about half of the beers they had on tap were unavailable for some reason), but it might have been an issue for that day only(I don't really drink beer, so I didn't care, still don't). Ok I never ever review anything but I'm so appalled at the "sandwich" I just received. I don't know if it's my luck or what but EVERY time order from LB it's terrible. This just takes the cake, I wouldn't present this to anyone. I'll starve before I eat it. 1 all it is is a big cut of meat crudely thrown on a bun with an excessive amount of mayonnaise coating it. It would have been better had the meat been cut or hell, even cutting the sandwich in half. And why with all the mayonnaise? But the worst part was the excessive, and I mean massively to the point of inedible, amount of fat and gristle in the steak. Perfectly cold, crisp beer. A burger put together so expertly that the bun doesn't get soggy from the juicy burger patty. Fries that are crunchy with a tender center. Football. The Long branch saloon is everything a dive bar should be dark with a jukebox full of good tunes and pool tables. Great beers on tap and a fantastic menu from appetizers two entrées especially their burgers. I had the pastrami burger which was the special of the day it was fantastic had just the right mix of pastrami to burger lettuce tomato and fries are fresh cut potatoes double cooked very crispy very tasty I highly recommend this place to anybody looking for a good meal and a good time read more

Just experienced the absolute magical Long Branch Burger. There is a reason this place has been around for so many years. Let me tell you not only is this burger my favorite in town but I firmly believe this burger can compete with anyone around the country. Not to mention the amazing fries it comes with. I always go with the Black and Blue burger but anything you order there will be worth your while. They have amazing appetizers and other sandwiches. On top of an awesome draft selection and the best serving staff around. If you have not tried a LB burger you are truly missing out. If you are looking for a great burger this is the place! No frills, just doggone awesome burger. Seriously, there is no place in anchorage that I have eaten at that even comes close. We eat here at least 2 times a month and have never had a bad meal. The only thing I personally dont care for is the chili but I don't go there for the chili. This used to be my favorite place! I frequented this place 2 to 3 times a week. The last few weeks the service has gone to shit! The food is still ok, but the new bartender is dirty & doesn't know shit!(cant make mixed drinks) Watched her dig something out of trash that she dropped in it, then (without washing her hands) grab someone's food order. The week before I seen her wearing fingerless cotton gloves wiping tables then serve food without washing or removing her gloves that she just washed down the tables with. This is a nice place to go get a great burger. The food is great and the service is on point. I had the Philly Cheese steak and my wife had the Bacon Cheeseburger. Both were excellent. It had been awhile since I'd been here for a burger. They used to be one of the best places in town to get one for many years. Their buns used to be so much better and the patties used to be thick and hand pressed. I moved to Anchorage from Sacramento about 3 weeks ago and was blessed to have ever stepped into this place! The people....patrons and staff make this the best place I have ever had the pleasure to eat and drink in. That's saying alot from a guy from outside Philadelphia who has walked and hitchiked his way from Miami, FL to Cali. The Philly Cheesesteak is one of the BEST I have ever tasted! This is coming from a guy who ate his share of Pat's and a few Geno's in his day and tries a Philly wherever it's served. Blows Milano's away! It has all the best qualities of an original...The homemade hoagie style SOFT buns are exactly the way they should be. Hard toasted rolls are the first sign of imitations and the Long Branch is not an imitation in any sort of way. Fresh Long Cut Potatoes make the fries which are Awesome! I've ate the Philly 6 times in 3 weeks...Its that Good! Plus its only like 10 bucks! I love coming to Long Branch for a jalapeño cheeseburger and hand-cut fries! The service is so friendly too, it's like eating at a place in the small town I grew up in. Don't come here if you're offended when a server calls you honey. It's so busy that you might have to wait a little bit to order. But worth it! The dive-bar aesthetic is the perfect backdrop for their real-deal burger: juicy patty, super-fresh homemade bun, and a ton of jalapeños and cheese (American and Swiss come by default on the jalapeño burger so I ask for American and cheddar)! I put enough ketchup on there to satisfy my inner preschooler and burger bliss out. Giant sodas and iced teas. Two-for-one coupons in the Northern Lights coupon book and sometimes in Valpak too. Warning new chef! Been here a lot over the years and loved it. We always had wonderful food but went today and the food was not even close to previous standards. Our over easy eggs came out solid as a rock, sent them back and they came out solid the second time too. The gravy was like eating flour out of the bag and the toast wasn't toasted. Female bartender will make fun of you and charge you double when she "doesn't want to make your drinks". The food is amazing! The service is amazing, today we had Lesley and she was wonderful (how she put up with the bartender today is BEYOND me). So really this review should have 5 stars, but today really upset me! Since they have such a large selection of booze we thought we would try some fun mixed drinks. We have been there before and the mixed drinks were always delicious. However, today the bartender didn't want to make drinks for us. She loudly made fun of us and our drinks in front of other customers (we were in the back and could hear her quite well even though the place was full). Then quite loudly told the waitress she had to charge us double because "she didn't want to make them". I kid you not. They were pretty simple mixed drinks, we have ordered more involved mixed drinks in the past here and they were fabulous. We have always loved this going to this place, it is our local place. However, getting charged double and getting made fun of is totally unacceptable. We only order mixed drinks because they have such an extensive bar (what dive bars do you know have 15 year old scotch?!!... none!). Being new to Anchorage, I wanted try different burger spots. So with a Groupon in hand, my partner and I went into the Long Branch Saloon. I was not deterred by the dive bar appearance or unpolished ambiance, thanks to previous Yelpers. The NCAA Women's Basketball semi-finals were on the big screen TV featuring Louisville and Tennessee, so that was a plus. We ordered the Mushroom Swiss burger and the Black and Bleu burger. Both came out fast and fresh - and tasty! The home made buns are a nice touch. The fries are similar to Five Guys - skinny and skin on. Our server, Dawn R. was very nice and attentive. We had a satisfying meal. Thinking it would be a good hangout for a big game or something. If you like dark and loud atmospheres, this place will not disappoint. read more

This dive bar is off the beaten path, just the way I like it. Easy to find but not crowded with tourists. Went with a group of five and not one of us had a single complaint. As it has already been said, burgers and fries are phenomenal. Freshly cut fries and homemade buns are something special. A few of us even had a side salad which also did not disappoint...somewhat surprising for a dive bar huh? Lots of TVs (both big and small) which allowed us to watch the Olympics. Overall, nice portions at a good price with friendly staff who brought the food out quickly despite being so busy. I'm not real sure where the idea that they have the best burgers in town is coming from. We went based on the recommendations of family and friends and I'd have to say none of us (there were four of us) were impressed. We all ordered the Black and Bleu burgers and they were pretty disgusting. The meat was very dry and had zero flavor and it seemed like they were trying to mask that with copious amounts of low-quality bleu cheese. The best part about it was the bun. The service was quick and friendly and the drinks were great. The fries were pretty good. Maybe I just need to try a different burger, but first impressions usually kill second chances for me. read more

I work down the street from Long Branch and wanted to try them out for lunch. I had a Chicken Caesar Salad and got a burger for later. Both were off the charts! AMAZING burgers, and we were able to catch the Broncos game on one of the many screens (though, expect the place to be dominated by the Seahawks and 49ers fans). The locals chattered and yammered. And I was in a sensory focus. It was a very enjoyable burger. ... Mmm. Best in anchorage. Top 5. But not the top.
