Y'all I was craving some good seasoned shrimp but didn't want to have to call order and go in. I thought about Long John's like it's been years, since I had them like only in my home state. I never had it in Fl, so I called them to ask if they seasoned the shrimp with anything and baby they did !! I said I'm on my way, I ordered via drive-through & got the shrimp well seasoned well cooked platter with the Mac and cheese and coleslaw the Mac was different but in a good way I liked the crunchiness the coleslaw tasted like kfc cousin it was good had a light refreshing taste and the shrimp tasted like I made it at home. I popped in after years of staying away and learned they upgraded. There happened to be 3 administrators in addition to Mr. Willie John Jr, the General Manager on site during my luncheon visit. Talking about culture and climate? They aced it, interacted with the dining guests, whose traffic remained steadfast, some stayed in, others took their food with them: actually asked about our pleasure with food and customer service and listened attentively to what we had to say. It was a fun dining experience. One of the cooks was magnanimous when told her food was not just delicious, especially the salmon, but also pretty! The cashier and servers were exceptional, their delivery to our tables seemed instantaneous. Everything was so perfect, I wondered if I was in an alternate universe! Look, drop in for yourself. Super clean, great customer service and delicious seafood! We were so glad to find this Long John Silver's in Oakland Park because we no longer have one in our area. My husband has been hankering for their fried fish that he grew up on so we had to make a stop. We found the restaurant to be very clean, paint & decor updated & well maintained and a pristine restroom. We were greeted by a helpful young lady who took our order, answered our questions and quickly brought us our meals. Our fried fished was amazing and tasted just like we remembered. Glad LJS has maintained their food quality & taste! I don't usually get dessert but they offer 3 flavors Cheesecake Factory cheesecake so we have to order one to share. Five-star fast food! Not to be confused with a five-star diner or a five-star fine dining establishment. The quiet-greasy meal I ordered was exactly what I wanted and anticipated. Fish is healthy, right?! The food was perfectly prepared and at a reasonable price compared to other fast food establishments. It was also delivered with exactly the right amount of condiments and napkins and a straw, as one should expect, but rarely get elsewhere. The service was perfect. The person who took the order was polite, attentive and clearly wanting to do a good job, efficiently. Even the tray was presented properly with the placemat facing the customer and with a smile. The ambiance is the same as LJS has always been. It feels like the same place I remember from long ago. There aren't many left so this location is appreciated partly for existing but also because it seems to celebrate it just a bit. It's clean, well-cared for and not beat up or run down. Sure, there are things I could pick at so it's not perfect but it's pleasant. I will return more often but it's only when I get the taste for extra LJS cooking oil in my diet, once or twice a year. read more

I guess, this has to depending on which crew you have on duty, & what manager, plus time of the day or just the day in general. All of the above makes customers nervous about visiting a restaurant that is inconsistent. I found my visit on a Monday around noon, to be a very pleasant experience. I upgraded to off the menu of 3 piece fish & chips. The fish & French fries were cooked fresh & delicious. The Mac & cheese w/ crumbles was ok, didn't like the crumbles which seem like, old batter pieces on top of the Mac n cheese, I will ask for no crumbles. The fish was good size, white & flaky, when asking the cashier type of fish it was? She said Alaskan Pollack, but on a graphic in the restaurant it said Cod? So I'm not sure ? I enjoyed the malt vinegar on the fish than the pre packaged tarter soft. I found the service to be very good, the food very good and everything looked in good shape and clean. Oh Long John Silver (LJS)! I've been eating at this location for about 10 years since I moved to Broward and I have to admit the change I've seen these past few years from the Ownership just brings warmth to my hospitality heart. It first started with the Customer Service and each time the drive thru and dine in was a better experience. Then over the past year the food quality got even better. The tables were cleaned almost immediately and while the building is on the more outdated side love is still put into it. Best of all no employees on cell phones all engaged in work! Today's visit took this LJS location to another level when a gentleman in a long black dress shirt and wearing a LJS hat who I presumed was part of Ownership/Management walked around knowing everyone's orders and striking up conversations with each table. I took notice of the faces and it almost seemed like each person was not only surprised but were in appreciation...almost as if they needed this brief encounter to break away from whatever they had going on in their life. A moment like this gives me hope not just for the LJS brand but for the community as a whole read more

For some reason, my wife and I started discussing LONG JOHN SILVERS. I told her about the uncomfortable visit I had years ago. When the cashier on duty asked me " Do you want Long John's price. Or mommas price" and with the other employees looking at me in silence. I said "Mommas". And they burst out in laughter. Took my money and stuffed it into their pockets! I hadn't been back since. I'd actually assumed that they'd gone out of business. The food was OK. Just ok. The shrimp was room temperature, and a few pieces were not whole shrimp. Just chunks. The chicken and the fish was indistinguishable. And the hush puppies tasted and smelled like a sour dish rag. The place is rundown. It's probably exactly how MOMMA and her crew left it. I see no reason to return. It's a shame. The place used to be great in the 1990s. There's a reason why locations are almost non existing. read more

We had visited this location last year when in the area and it was very good. We went again while in the area this year and it was so good we went two nights in a row. The drive through server was very friendly and got our order correct. The food was amazing. Never have we had such fresh, hot, crunchy fish, chicken, fries and hush puppies from a Long John's before. And the new cheese bites were really good. We told the drive through server the second time we went to the let her manager know that this location is awesome. We even went about an hour prior to closing and we had to wait a bit for the food but it was still amazingly fresh, hot and crunchy. Keep up the great work! read more

These folks never answers their phone when I call to ask questions. Last Saturday I was driving up to Oakland Park from Miami bcuz it is now the only South FL location left. I asked them if I could use a coupon, they said they don't know how to ring it up. Come back Monday to see Manager. I said to them I wanted Fish today not Monday. I decided to leave and went over to Miami Subs on Oakland Park and Powerline Road bcuz they happen to have Arthur Treacher's fish and chips w/ hush puppies for $6.99. Nice folks BTW. He has to be the worst run business in South Florida and there are a lot of them. Been there a few times all three times I could not get waited on I had to walk out. Today was the same thing. So I went inside because I saw the drive-thru had four cars in there. For people there were waiting for the food with tickets in their hand and three other ladies at the counter which they couldn't get waited on the kid kept saying 1 second This is exactly what's happened the other three times I was there. Then I figure well I'll go through the drive-thru I went to the drive-thru I waited 10 minutes at the speaker of the kid kept saying I'll be there in a second I'll be there in a second.. well I asked the people behind me to please back up so I can leave again. You should either close this place or staff this place whatever. I won't try it a fifth time. I don't know how you people even do any business there? It's the same keep looking the counter and the drive-thru at the same time Nobody at the front counter there may be one cook and that's it He is so far behind it was unbelievable. Exact circumstance I've seen the other three times. trying to go look at the dining room if you want to call it a dining room you people haven't put $0.10 in remodeling in there for probably 20 years. The paint's chipping it's disgusting tables are broken ceiling is filthy. That's why Long John silver's is a dying brand. Have been slowly building up my visits at LJS til today. Went to the location at 9 pm website clearly says 10 pm closing and they were closed and shooed me away. Very good service, very quick cooking, it's a pleasure every time I come here because they treat you with respect. I ordered a family meal & got it within five minutes! The only thing bad about the restaurant is how it's falling apart. All Long John Silver's seem to be in this condition. First time at this LJS location. The food was great and served hot and fast. We were the only ones in the restaurant and my husband had doubts about the place. Great customer service! It was my first time trying Long John Silver's and I was surprised for the great seafood meal at a good price??? Also, this location was super clean and the atmosphere wasn't loud. I'm not a fan of spicy food and I tried the "taco trio" which was a little spicy but I would order it again. It was great! They have sweet deals every day and I highly recommend it! Their customer service was really good (which I wasn't expecting it at all because of the area). It was my first time eating here. It was a Monday and night shift. In regards to the staff, I felt as if I were eating at a friend's house and their kids were being forced to serve me food. Made me wait in line while they talked. Not such a great customer service experience. Please encourage customer service courses or more training.
