The smell of cooking oil when I walked through the door was nostalgic for me. Anyone that has been to a Long John Silver's before knows exactly what I mean. I hadn't been to a LJ's in years. We saw this one and had to make a stop. The manager on duty was taking orders. He was so friendly. I spent some time reminiscing with him about other LJ's locations that have closed. He took time to have a general conversation and I really appreciated that. I ordered the two piece fish platter. Now listen, don't go to Long John's expecting a true seafood experience because you will be highly disappointed. You go to Long John's for the hush puppies, the tartar sauce on the overly bartered fish and for the little batter crumbs with your meal. And that's exactly what I got. They are a tad greasy but in a good way! Recently I got her the thick cut fish sandwich and she enjoyed it. The fries are fair, but the Cole slaw and hush puppies are good! Ask for extra "crumbs" because these crispy pieces of breading are crunchy and delish... worth the carbs! They are generous with their sauces and condiments! This is by far the best LJS location in Virginia, maybe the whole east coast. I love LJS and usually have been disappointed on how much a particular location has gone down hill in quality BUT NOT THIS LOCATION! Here the fish are big portions, flakey, and fresh. Yes, it's fried, so don't go thinking healthy. It just the traditional buttermilk deep fried deliciousness of yesteryear. I go about once a month and I never have an issue with the food, I always get the fish, so I can't speak to the chicken or shrimp. When they have a fish special I'll load up and have leftovers... if I can stop myself from pigging out! Nationally LJS is not doing that great and they are closing left and right. So, do yourself a favor and check it out... before this restaurant is gone. read more

The quality of the fish they offer has diminished and I now drive 45 minutes round trip to eat at this LJS. The food is consistently fresh, the restaurant is clean and well managed. During our trip to Western VA my wife wanted to detour thru Richmond just to stop at LJS. For some reason the LJS fish is the only fish she will eat. Anyways, we arrived and the inside of the store was closed because of the covid and we preceded to the drive thru. We had plenty of time to look at the menu and make some choices because there were a few orders ahead of us and the line didn't move for some time. They're cooking the food as its ordered. We were committed to order and we ordered Fish,chicken and hush puppies, $60 worth, or two and a half days worth hahaha. So when we received our freshly cooked order we drove to a parking lot nearby and ate as much as we could. It was a tasty treat. All the food was cooked to perfection and we had some leftovers for our cabin trip. The food was good, the employees were nice and helpful. Me and my family went there (Long John Silvers) on 6/28/21 at 1:44 pm through the Drive Thru. The man operating the Drive Thru was EXTREMELY RUDE AND DISPLAYED HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! He was loud and kept cutting us off. He was extremely impatient and we had to repeat our orders numerous times. We will never go there again! A horrible experience. What can I say! When I left Chicago to relocate to RVA 9 months ago, I didn't think I'd ever see a Long John Silvers again but boy oh boy, was I wrong. This is something familiar for me in a new city and state, so seeing this place brought me so much joy. I love LJS and took the thirty minute drive from home to get me some fish. When I arrived the line was long but I'm okay with that. Everything is different now with the pandemic, so patience is key! It took about 25 minutes total to place my order and get my food. I ordered the fish and shrimp platter with hush puppies fries and coleslaw, plus a couple extra pieces of fish to take home for later. I pulled into a nice spot in the parking lot and proceeded to enjoy my parking lot lunch. Everything was so delicious and hot EXCEPT my French Fries. They weren't hot which I couldn't, for the life of me, understand how this could be possible with such a long wait. So why weren't the fries fresh?? So I just won't get fries again. I'll get double Cole slaw next time because the cole slaw was so cold and fresh. It was a great meal and I'll definitely be back. Wanna try the fish tacos next. read more

Food was okay but service was awful. One employee seemed to be arguing with her trainer about everything. She was rude and dismissive. She gave me the merchant copy of the receipt. I asked for tea and finally got it when the man brought it out. Her comment: "I told her I would get her tea!" Good for her, but her follow through was limited. Definitely will not return! Extremely pissed with LJS. All the fish, chicken, and fries me and my husband had were over cooked. I paid $9.00 for my meal and most went into the trash. so here is my LJS stop; part of my fast food bucket list :D this is my first time eating at an LJS period and i liked it i got the plater which came with 3 shrimp, chicken and 2 fish, hush puppies and corn and cole slaw. it was around 7 or 8 bucks. i could have gotten a free drink, as they currently have a promotion but opted to just have water. the food was great, hot and tasty. everything was super crispy and they gave plenty of deep fried batter bits which i love! the counter staff were friendly and patient the place was clean, and there is plenty of parking definitely, worth trying read more
