It started with a long drive to seemingly nowhere and finished at an elegant winery sitting on top of a hill with great views in almost every direction you looked. What was our most anticipated tasting of our trip to Walla Walla ended with a little disappointment. I had read about gathering some of the world's most renowned winemakers and have them focus on just one wine and the reviews were glowing. The tasting room was very eclectic with walls of windows and very modern art throughout. When we were seated, they explained how the tasting would go as we were able to taste all of the wines. Our letdown came with the server. She was pleasant and courteous but not prone to conversation as we wanted to learn about the wines and the winemaker. She poured, provided some details about the wine, and then left. She also spaced the time between tastings too long as we found ourselves waiting far longer than expected. These were minor inconveniences though and the overall experience was good. I think with a few minor adjustments it could be great. I still recommend checking this place out as the wines were really good. read more

Disappointing. This winery came highly recommended and our group was excited to visit the tasting room - three of us planning to join their wine club. We were greeted by a very rude tasting room attended who stopped us at the door and stated they did not have room for us. We understand tasting rooms can be crazy on weekends, and understand that they could have definitely not had room for us, but the manner in which we were treated was unacceptable. read more

Our family spent a wonderful afternoon with Alex for a tour of the beautiful Longshadows facility. Everyone in our group was very impressed by their wines, but just as impressed by Alex-his wine knowledge, his gracious attitude and his dedication to making sure we had a fun experience. Our sons and a fiancé-all in their 20's-and my 70 something in-laws left with a greater appreciation of winemaking and an understanding of why Longshadows is in a class by itself creating truly beautiful wines. Devin the guy who served our party caused some unpleasant experience at the vineyard. He did not explain at all upfront that the tasting fee credit does not apply to white wines (never heard of this thing at any winery). He also charged our group twice on credit card transaction and refused to refund and was very rude. The management should do something about this to improve the tasting experience. Summary: good wines but the staff is too inexperienced to work in the tasting room. read more

Great service by Alex, being from Napa and working in the winery industry, I was seeking some education on the WA AVA's. Alex made it a very casual, fun and educational experience. Remarkable winemakers are part of this project, every wine really well made and extremely reasonably priced. Certainly recommend Long Shadows to any consumer from the state and out of state. All the wines have great tannin structure and depth and certainly will age gracefully for the next decade or so. Purchased a variety of wines however the Saggi really stood out for me, Sangiovese, Cabernet and Syrah blend. Great hospitality and excellent wines. read more

My favorite wines and great tasting experience. We hadn't made a tasting appointment since we didn't know how the timing would work out for a girls' trip, but when we were tasting on the west side and had a little time we called and they were able to welcome us in shortly after. The setting of the winery is beautiful and so is the modern tasting room. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The tasting room overlooks their production area, so it's fun to watch as you taste. The tasting fee is $15, but you get generous pours of incredible wines. Nobody was using the bucket here.... All the wines are great, you can't go wrong with any one of them, you can tell that they take great pride in their quality. Don't skip this one! read more

You would need to make an appointment for you to taste at their tasting room but it was definitely worth it. I loved how each bottle of wine had a different winemaker so you get to taste all the different style of wines that they have to offer. The tasting room is beautiful with glass art work. Buyer beware !!!!!!!!! We had heard so much about this winery and were passing by so stopped to purchase a couple bottles of wine as gifts. We asked the front desk person for a recommendations which he gave and we agreed to purchasing two bottles for $75.00. Two days later we are in a wine store see the same exact wines for $15.00 per bottle not $37.50, I do not mind a business making a profit but this is over board so taste but buy elsewhere. read more

What a great experience. Looks to be a fairly new facility with great views overlooking the valley. The format is a bit unusual, they seat you in a lounge and bring the wines out to you. The pace is very relaxed and the personnel are knowledgeable. The wine making style is also unique with each wine having a different wine maker, who is usually from a different country. No complaints about the wine, but the service was sluggish, aloof and snobby. We didn't have an appointment, because the voicemail neglected to mention this requirement - and even after we alerted the host about this omission, he told us we were wrong. Then he reluctantly seated us, and proceeded to ignore us for about 20 minutes between each pour, even though they didn't appear to be slammed. After we (diplomatically) pointed out his spotty service, he refused to waive our tasting fee. Very disappointing experience. read more

The best thing about this tasting room is the Chihuly glass. I called ahead to see if the tasting room could accommodate my party of 12. of course they could not because they had several other large parties coming in. Okay I can understand and was not irritated as it was a last minute request. based on that answer our group split up and 3 of us went to Long Shadows...Upon entering we were greeted by a receptionist who by the look on her face was not happy with our appearance or dress as she gave us quite the critical stare (only beaten by Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada). when asked if we had a reservation, we said no. she then proceeded to tell us that you can only taste their wines with an appointment and that she would accommodate us the following week! I said we were from Seattle and wouldn't be in Walla Walla later in the week. So I asked if I could walk through the tasting room as I heard they had some Chihuly pieces. She said that would be fine. I walked through and did see the glass art; which was beautiful. I also saw only four people tasting and about 10 empty tables. The LONG drive to their property and the snootiness of the staff was a complete turnoff and I am telling all my friends don't waste your time! There is just as good and even BETTER at #markryan; #baselcellars and #sleightofhand. All of which will gladly welcome you with friendly faces (no appointment required); charming conversation and delicious wine. The person who said they couldn't accommodate my large party on the phone, could have taken a few extra seconds to tell me that their winery is by appointment only and that they were full. The woodinville tasting room is a better bet; but now I will not bring guests to that location either. $20 tasting fee refunded with $40 purchase. Apparently there is a dress code and reservations required. Save yourself the boredom and head to Basel or Sleight of Hand. read more

2nd stop in Walla Walla and had an amazing experience trying all of their wines! Not only were the wines amazing and among the best we had in Walla Walla but the service was phenomenal. Alex was our wine tour guide and provided great conversation and information on the wine. If not for Alex I probably would of dropped a star off as he made the experience for us. In early October 2013 we tasted 6 wines and all were absolutely fantastic! Would highly recommend a visit here. After 4 days of tastings in the Walla Walla, Horse Heaven Hills, Yakima and Rattlesnake Hills areas, Long Shadows was clearly the best! Go online and read how world-class winemakers are brought in from all over the world to make various wines. Very impressive and it shows in their wines. The tasting room is quite elegant, with Chihuly glass art, but not so as to make us "average Joe's" feel unwelcome. Our server was very nice and quite knowledgeable. My husband and I recently spent a weekend in Walla Walla with friends, and visiting Long Shadows was definitely a highlight! It would be impossible to choose a favorite wine from the incredible range they offer-from a fantastic Riesling to a beautiful Rosé to so many great reds, each made from local grapes in partnership with world renown winemakers. We just returned from a weekend of wine tasting in Walla Walla and had a wonderful time. We visited seven wineries, and Long Shadows was our favorite. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. There is a beautiful tasting room with a view of the production facilities where we sampled all the Long Shadow wines. Each one was amazing; some of the best we've ever drank. I suggest arriving at sunset and take pictures on the gorgeous outdoor terrace. read more

The new Long Shadows winery and tasting room are dramatically located on a hill with a grand view of surrounding countryside with very simple modern architecture highlighted by Dale Chihuly's glass art including a chandelier and several large organic pieces. It helps that Long Shadows wines are spectacular. Started with Poet's Leap riesling followed by reds including Saggi, Feather, Pedestel, Pirouette, and Chester Kidder and siphoned tastings from new barrels of cab and merlot. The finish was Poet's Leap botrytis...yum. Toured the library of Long Shadows wines. Other visitors to the winery were great company making for a very pleasant 2 hours. Visting the winery is far better than the Library Tasting Room in Woodinville and worth the long drive east from Seattle and there are other wineries to visit around Walla Walla but Long Shadows took best of trip. Call ahead. Reservations are highly recommended or required. read more
