We had wanted some can lights put in and they told us up front that since the beams in our ceiling were lined up with the existing light, the cans would be off-centered, so we opted not to do them. This was a majority of the project too. On the lights they did hang, it was efficiently done and priced well below competitors. They were able to give quotes, including for the electrical charger sight-unseen, which many other could not do. And they stuck with the price. Then installers came in and installed the stove but could not push it back to the wall. They told me the gas pipe was "in the way." I called Glen and he responded quickly, came out to the house, pulled the stove out, and determined that the gas line was NOT in the way . . . that the 220-line outlet was oriented and positioned on the wall so that the stiff appliance cord kinked against the stove and was even pulling out of the outlet when the stove was pushed back. Glen's excellent attention to detail; investigative, analysis, and problem resolution skills; his calm and professional attitude: and the thoroughness of his work inspire confidence. Ok . . . so you know how you sometimes read a review about a company . . . and the writer of the…read morereview gushes so much that the review seems fake so you dismiss it? Like most people, that's how I feel - so I am going to try to restrain myself in this review - lest potential customers dismiss the review because the review seems too good to be true. Our HVAC completely stopped working sometime on Wednesday and by 10pm, the house was 90 degrees. With the humidity - it felt closer to 100 degrees. I checked Google, Nextdoor and Yelp. Made several phone calls checking prices for diagnostics on Thu and Friday. Had a company come out (I won't name here - but if you're interested - check my historical reviews) and the rep, Chad, was nice and polite - but he had NO interest in repairing my unit. He said the circuit board / mother board housed in the furnace was 'fried' and the unit was a 1999 model (which I found odd - since the entire unit - both inside and out was replaced in 2008) and that he couldn't get parts for it. He said he could replace the furnace only (the only way to get a new motherboard) for $5,030. On probably my seventh phone call on Friday, I spoke to Randy. When he answered the phone - he sounded like one of those smooth-listening radio DJ's from the 90's - and I don't mean that in a bad way. His voice was soothing - but I mention it because I definitely felt like he was a 'sales' guy and not an actual technician. Little did I know - I was WRONG: Randy answered my questions - but more importantly - he ASKED me questions. He was so kind and patient, even though my phone energy wasn't the greatest (I was tired, worried and I was HOT. Hotter than I have ever been in my entire life. My eyelids were sweating). When I confessed the diagnostic info from previous technician - he said that it didn't make sense to him because - even when a system is obsolete, there are always 'universal' boards that can be used as compatible replacements. He told me that he would send someone out to take a look that same day. He followed up by texting me the name and phone number of my technician. Less than an hour later, my technician, Daniel - called me to let me know he was en route and to provide ETA. (I had actually left the house to pick up portable AC and I was worried I would be a little late getting back to the house - I called them to let them know I was going to be a little late and they said 'no problem.') Daniel waited on me. And guess what - Randy was there waiting too! When I expressed my surprise that the owner, himself, was coming out on service visits - Randy explained his business philosophy to me. I won't repeat it here - I urge you to call him - and hear it from the horse's mouth. It's simple and beautiful. Lol. When I confessed the diagnostic info from previous technician - he said that it didn't make sense to him because - even when a system is obsolete, there are always 'universal' boards that can be used as compatible replacements. I've typed a novel at this point - so I'll try to wrap up and hit the important bullets - 1) Initially they thought, like the other company, that it was a circuit board - so they left to get a new one and came back later to replace it. He said parts and labor for my unit would be $268. Turns out - it was NOT the circuit board. They didn't charge me. Even though the house was over 95 degrees at this point and we were all covered in sweat during the initial visit - Randy, Daniel and the other technician were extremely friendly, polite and patient. 2) The next potential issue was the thermostat (Nest - giving a Y and R error codes). So they installed a new thermostat - at this point - it's 8:30pm on Friday night. But Randy was able to determine that with the new circuit board and new (non-smart, non-programmable thermostat) - it had to be the contactor - in the condenser (outside). He said he would be back at 7:30am the next day - with a new contactor. 3) By 8am the next morning (Saturday) - the new contactor was installed and the AC was working again. When I asked for the amount owed - I was shocked at the cost. Suffice it to say - it was less than half the $268 quoted for the circuit board. I paid him and tipped him generously because ultimately - with the amount of time he spent, 3 visits total, (late hours on Friday - coupled with early morning Saturday work) - even if they had billed me $10 per hour - it would have cost me more than my final price. I am 100% a forever-fan of this company. I have passed this info on to my relatives, friends, and clients. And now - I'm spreading it on to you - my Yelp family. I simply cannot say enough good things about these guys. It will soon be time for us to replace our HVAC - and I will ABSOLUTELY be using these guys when it's time. This company embodies everything a homeowner looks for in a service provider: Knowledge, honesty, integrity and conscientiousness. This company is extraordinary.
