We called ahead at 8:45 PM and were told the wait would be about an hour. We arrived at 9:00 PM and let the host know we were there for our party, and were again told it would be about an hour. When we checked back at 9:45 PM, we were told it would only be another 30 minutes. After already waiting, we were then told they couldn't seat us at all. This was extremely frustrating and a complete waste of our time. The lack of communication and inconsistent wait times made for a very poor experience. If you're not able to accommodate a party, it would be better to say that upfront instead of repeatedly changing expectations. read more

Heartbroken and Disappointed My family and I went to the LongHorn on N. DuPont Hwy in Dover to have dinner and celebrate a special moment after a heartbreaking time for our family. We were all looking forward to being together, sharing a meal, and finding a little bit of comfort. Instead, we were told we couldn't be seated together because there was only one cook working. The host said we would have to sit in groups of six, and the next six could be seated 15 minutes later. Basically, they wanted to split our family apart during a time when we really needed to be together. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was embarrassing, disappointing, and honestly hurtful. Unfortunately, this visit was a poor experience for multiple reasons. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First, the gnats. They are incessant. We sat at a table where 4-5 kept hovering in our faces and the table; this is BEFORE drinks and food was served. We asked to move to another table further away and within the first minute the swarm began to appear again. The entire meal we were constantly swatting them away from our food, drinks, and faces. Very annoying.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service left much to be desired. The wait staff looked to be lean, however our concern was the lack of acknowledgement of our discomfort, and the underdone attitude being displayed. Their demeanor met the requirement of "take orders then provide food", but there was clearly zero desire to provide true customer service. The food was disappointing. The shrimp and lobster chowder is really thin soup. The steaks ordered were very salty and chewy (I understand they are likely USDA Choice, however the fat caps on the ribeyes should have helped with tenderness...they did not help in any way for a well-done (ordered as a medium) steak). A burger was also ordered, and when cut through the crosscut looked like completely uncooked ground beef inside with seared edges. To resolve, the burger was taken back and heated up to cook more instead of properly re-prepared. Food is good , however the host is arrogant . Firstly I was told a table was available by wait staff but just needed to be cleaned . Hung around about 7 mins nobody cleaned the table , then host arrived after about 5 mins later saying table was not available, the front desk was vacant for a while . I was told i had to wait about 15-25 mins , I left and was kindly served at outback steakhouse who had Much more people in there but they always make a plan. Carryout was terrible. They mess up my order often, and the portions are extremely small. I am use to the Longhorn in Wilmington, which is more upscale. This one has bad customer service, burnt my steak, and always missing something in my bag. The managers don't even try to accommodate their mistakes. This location is messing up the franchise prestige and quality. Get it right or close this location to save your brand. I am disappointed because Long Horn is my favorite restaurant, and I spend a lot of money there, and I have told many people to go there. Just not the one in Dover. read more

Soooo....majority of the reviews at this place are legit. We decided to come here, hoping we would get an even better experience. Smh. Not so much. We did sit there for about 20 mins waiting to be GREETED. Not served. Greeted. We were seated at the bar. At one point, a server literally put her head down and tried to walk past us. We went to Longhorn for our daughter's birthday. The hostess was very rude and annoyed that we asked for a booth. Super delicious and super service! We love LongHorn anyway, but while traveling in Delaware we stopped at this one near Dover Downs for a steak dinner, and it was so delicious! Stephen H was our most fabulous server, and greeted us promptly with a loaf of delicious honey wheat bread, hot, crusty outside and soft inside, with butter. He was extremely polite, pleasant, great manners and eye contact, and got everything right, even special requests. My husband said his NY Strip was one of the best he ever had. My rare Renegade was delicious, and the broccoli was done perfectly and seasoned wonderfully. My husband and I went here for lunch the other day. I got a chili with a side of broccoli and he got a burger. It seems like a simple order, however, what we received was terrible. My chili simply tasted like nothing. I tried to add salt but it did nothing for the flavor. The broccoli was good however it's hard to mess up broccoli. My husband's Burger on the other hand was just average. Nothing spectacular and nothing to come back for. When we arrived there weren't very many people in the restaurant so we were hoping that we'd get great service. However, it seemed like our waitresses first day on the job. She never even came back to check on us to make sure the food was okay. It made the experience all that much more dismal. Overall it was overpriced garbage. read more

The boss had a BBQ BACON burger and fries and I had a Crispy Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich. For appetizers we had fried pickles and White Cheddar Stuffed Mushrooms. There were many bugs in the salad, the salmon was very burnt, and the service was not good since she was ignoring us.

Ordered the 12 oz. rib eye which was flavorful, but had too much fat and tough. Told my waiter (John) who was very friendly and attentive. He then offered me a filet which was better, not as tasty as the rib eye but with no fat. It cut like a roast verses a steak. The atmosphere was good up until they put three tables together with a Taekwondo group which then became quite noisy. The artwork was very nice I like the high ceilings I don't like the color of the wood it could be like a cherry which would help to make it look a little bit more brighter and less saloon like. Update February 2020: just went for an early dinner at 4:20 on President's Day. The restaurant was empty, as expected for 4:20. We were promptly seated. And that's where it ended. We sat and waited for 8 minutes for a waiter/waitress to come to our table. No drink order. We've 'been here, done that ' before with this restaurant so we left. The same non responsive manager was there from our last experience so I avoided the additional aggravation of saying anything. Goodness Longhorn management, get your stuff together! Update April 2019: Went for lunch and the service and food was a 'hit' again. The manager still walked by as miserable as always but some other gentleman (dressed as a manager) came over to our table twice checking on things and very friendly. We had the same waitress from the first visit and she was still on point. Our meals arrived hot and as expected. I upgraded the rating from 2-3. Our last visit was so bad that i can't bring myself to 4 stars yet. Glad my husband convinced me to give this place another chance for lunch Hit or miss. Tonight was an absolute miss and the manager is a joke. The waitress was scattered, we waited for waters, the appetizers took FOREVER and when they arrived were cold. The waitress blamed it on the kitchen but the drinks from the bar also didn't come out soooo? When I asked to speak to the manger I was told he was 'busy'. He later showed up to the table and offered to 'comp' the appetizers which weren't even eaten... essentially he did nothing to compensate for the lack of service and how long we were waiting. The first time we went here, it was Saturday night and very busy. The manager was at the front desk and didn't even look up to greet us but looked down as he simply asked 'how many?' Ummm ok, hello to you too and thanks for the warm welcoming. We waited about 45 minutes that day. Once we sat down, the server was great and every single thing from the bar, to the appetizers, to the meal was off the hook delicious. This is why we were so eager to return.
