I went with some family members however, and one of their steaks was way over-salted and undercooked. They were prompt to replace it though and the replacement was good. I've been longing for a good burger and I found myself back at longhorn steak house. Lunch time is the perfect time to come, it's not too busy and I was seated right away. The young host shadea was very nice and My server Colleen was Incredible, kind, and very hospitable. I appreciate her hospitality and if I come back to this location I'll surely ask for her. I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor of both the Mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts, they're definitely a must try. We wanted something quick late night, we stopped in about an hour before closing. The place wasn't extremely busy, the bar area was full though. Upon arrival no one was at the podium, after a few minutes of waiting a girl appeared and walked us to our booth. We already knew what we wanted so we ordered immediately. I ordered the chicken, which came out burnt, and went in really excited to try the lamb chops. Unfortunately, they looked nothing like what was advertised -- completely unappetizing. When we mentioned the issues to our server, he just stood there and said, "Yeah, it's supposed to be similar to the pic, but it's not." No apology, no attempt to fix it, just silence until we awkwardly said, "Okay." For food, we started with the Texas Tonion as an appetizer. There were a lot of pieces and plenty for a table to share. Stopped in for a dinner to celebrate 2 birthdays. We were a group of 7 and called ahead to make sure the wait was not too long. We were told that we could be seated immediately upon arrival so headed up for an early dinner. Upon arrival we did have to wait just a few minutes for the table to be setup (no big deal) and had a larger table towards the back which was nice and out of the way. We could see 2 other larger groups in the restaurant so they didn't have a lot of tables full, but the larger groups was keeping the staff busy. It did take almost 10 minutes before anyone even came by to say they would be right with us. It was about 17-20 minutes before we even got any waters. Once we did get service we were able to place our orders for apps and entrees. The server was very friendly and was as attentive as they could be with the other larger parties. We started with street corn and cheese stuffed mushrooms. Both were good and cooked well. The kids and I went with the filet for our entree. All of us felt that there was too much spice on the steak and it had a black pepper burn in the back of the throat the more your ate. My youngest could not finish her steak because of it, but she was full so we just took the left overs to our pups who did not complain. We did not share the feedback as we were about 1/4 way thru the steaks before the burning really set in and we are not those to send back almost half eaten plates of food. Since college teen wanted steak, we hit this location on Friday night for him. Service was quite good and on the spot with bread and other check backs. The appetizer was nice, onion petals, and made exactly as wanted extra crispy. Son devoured the steak and salad and potato without issue. Appeared to be cooked more medium than medium rare but 8 ounces is NOT huge. Wish they offered one other size like 10 or 12 ounce for protein lovers. Pricing was fair and wife got her favorite too. The room breathed Texas, not the Texas of geography, but of mythology, assembled and exaggerated until it became something near-religious. Skulls of longhorn cattle, bleached into a kind of permanent surrender, watched from the walls, framed by artifacts of a life I suspected no one in the room had lived: boots that had never known mud, hats that had never felt sun, bolo ties looped like ceremonial nooses around the idea of authenticity. It was not Texas. It was memory pretending to be Texas. Or perhaps desire. The music threaded through it all, country songs about loss, about roads, about women who leave and men who pretend they understand why. It filled the space like a sermon no one had asked for but everyone accepted. My companion, a Uruguayan gaucha with a gaze that suggested she had already measured the room and found it both amusing and insufficient, ordered a T-bone steak with baked potato. She did so without irony, without hesitation. She was born on a saddle somewhere in the prairies between Montevideo and Amarillo and had simply decided to embrace the similarities. The host said they were really busy and it might not possible. We understood and waited for the table. Then on the way inside, we saw some tables available. We asked the host if we can use 1 of those, and she said she will ask the manager. Then manager came aggressively and loudly told us that we knew the situation and we still asked for the closer table. That we already skipped a lot of people by making online reservations. This place is tried and true. If you're looking for good food and good service every time, this is your place. I have dined at this location countless times, and I have yet to have a bad experience. There is rarely a wait and if there is, it's minimal. The food is cooked to perfection. I asked it be cooked medium and it came out cooked medium. In my experience with burgers, that doesn't happen often. It's either undercooked or over cooked. It came with onion, tomato, lettuce, bacon, cheese and the burger sauce. I added ketchup and mustard but that's just personal preference. It was a good burger. I ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts for my side alone with a side salad. The Brussels sprouts were SO good! A subtle sweetness mixed with savory. Would definitely order again. Their side salads are one of my favorite items on the menu. It is loaded with salad fixins and their ranch dressing is second to none. Whereas I typically order something different every time, my husband orders their chop steak every time we go. It's his favorite. It has great flavor and comes with a tasty gravy and mushrooms. He ordered the loaded baked potato which is truly loaded and so tasty. Waitress was nice and our orders were taken quickly. Women's bathroom was dirty, toilet stalls had so much paper on the floor as did the main garbage can next to the bathroom door. The waiter was rude. The medium steak was rare.l, cooked only on one side. For the first time in my life, I sent a ssteak back. Fourteen minutes later they brought a steak that was almost raw. Inside they had the lighting low and everyone inside seemed to be having a great time. The server was nice and gave us some of his recommendations which were helpful. Longhorn Steakhouse had opened a location over here on the edge of the Fashion Square Mall and it took me a bit to get to, but I finally made it and I can say that it is a good option for either lunch or dinner. Since it is on the corner of Maguire Road and East Colonial Drive, it is pretty convenient to get to. As I have said, it is an outparcel at the Fashion Square Mall, so parking also will not be a problem. Service here is good and for a mus-level price steakhouse, the steaks are good. In fact, out of the mid-level priced steakhouses (Longhorn, Outback, Roadhouse, etc.), I woukd say that Longhorn is probably my favorite out of them. Not only are the steaks good, I was surprised that the parmesan crusted chicken was pretty stellar. Their loaded baked potato is also a great side, by the way. You walk in the door and, in addition to a not very clean floor, the first thing you see is a trash can which looks like several people have walked by, thrown trash at, and missed. Next to that is the hostess podium on legs which looks like no one has swept under for a week. And the place smells funky right at the front door. They were not busy, so that isn't the excuse. Didn't follow my instincts and leave, because I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt, in addition to dining partner being there before me and already having his tea and bread. I've been to other Longhorns which were good, however, I can't come back here. This has nothing to do with this particular store, but the bread is awful.
