Walk-Up service fails to package complete order. Have had missing items two times in a row. Frustrating.

I need to upgrade my review for this LongHorn Steakhouse. I noticed I left a 2-star review back in…read more2017 after a disappointing experience. I've returned several times since then and my experiences have been consistently positive. Restaurants tend to have high employee turnover rates, and can have personnel issues from time to time - especially on challenging days when they're getting slammed like on that Mother's Day. So here's my redemption review... This LongHorn Steakhouse is located on the north side of Interstate 2 (Expressway 83) in Weslaco, in front of the JCP and Academy stores and in between Texas Blvd. And N. Bridge Road. The current management has maintained the property well. It is a handsome building with the trademark stonework facade, nicely landscaped, with ample, well lit parking. It is handicapped accessible, and high chairs for toddlers are available. It would be good for small groups as well as family get-togethers, and business lunch or date night. They offer their signature steaks, burgers, salmon, chicken, some comfort food like their excellent mac n cheese, salads, and more. I met some friends here for a late lunch on a Saturday around 4 PM. There was no wait. Our server did an incredible job, was friendly, attentive, and checked back on us several times. She kept our drinks filled and even offered a to-go cup as we were wrapping up. The fresh baked bread and butter was delicious, served along with our drinks while we looked over the menu. I ordered the 8 ounce sirloin, a loaded baked potato, and the crispy Brussels sprouts. I noticed the potato had a lot of salt encrusted on the skin, but since I did not eat the skin, it was not a problem - though it could be an issue for those on low-sodium diets. The Brussels Sprouts were crispy on the outside for the most part... I would have enjoyed them more a bit crisper and with some Balsamic vinager, but they were still pretty good. The steak was cooked as requested and delicious. My friends also enjoyed their orders. There was some background music, but it was at a decent level so it did not hinder our conversation. I really enjoyed this visit and dining experience, recommend this LongHorn Steakhouse, and based on my last three visits am awarding them the full five stars.

I was extremely excited…read moreto spend my afternoon in the presence of a great restaurant, I was thrilled to be here. We got sat down and ordered our drinks. I got a tea and the hubby ordered a beer. I was undecided at to what I wanted for my birthday lunch (I didn't tell the staff it was my birthday at any point during our visit and I wanted to keep it that way). The waitress came back a while later and we ordered our food. I was finished with my tea and the hubby with is beer. The waitress never appeared to asks us if we wanted refills. So our food came about 20-30 minuets later. At that point she asked if we wanted refills. We said yes, of course we do. I got the fajita plate, It was warm-cold at best. I was hoping it be pipping hot. It's fajitas so it was a BIG turn off BAD!!!!!!?I put my fajita plate to the side and it took a while for the waitress to come back, I wanted to order another plate. I got the Flounder that was stuffed with crab meat. I was excited by the sound of flounder (my favorite type of fish with crab meat) my mouth was watering! When the fish came out to the table and it had no flavor WHATSOEVER!!!!! I'm a seafood lover and I can tell you that it was a disappointment! I really was disappointed with the whole experience. Of all days, my birthday.........at your restaurant! It was also a disappointment that I only got 2 refills of iced tea. I have patronized your establishment so many time and never have I been disappointed as much as I was today, on my birthday! As my husband and I were Checking out at the front desk, cause the waitress never came over to give us are bill, I told the manger or whomever it was at the front desk how LACK LUSTER our experience was. Never out of the years we have eaten there, have we a bad experience like this. Anytime we do go, we always ask for Jorge, he is our go to waiter. He is a wonderful waiter very receptive and curious. We have had other waiter/waitresses and they are so good as well, never had a problem with anyone. I don't know if this waitress was new or in a bad frame of mind but we weren't happy at all, or at least I wasn't happy. I will continue to go to your establishment because it is good food and I like the environment, and one instance shouldn't determine the inadequacies. We enjoy the atmosphere and really love the food. We enjoy Jorge and everyone else that waits on us. We are generous with tips, just ask Jorge, he will tell you. BTW, we did pay for all our food even the two plates that weren't to my expectation. We do genuinely like eating here and will go back again in the future.

There were probably like 3 tables with people. So no reason for the employees not to be attending customers walking in. But the waiter was nice and tried his best to keep track of every table. When I needed assistance he was not available. I only saw two people working. The food took long. The kids meals was disappointing. The tacos were greasy and the tortillas were stale. The meat was flavorful. Plus really over cooked. It was my first time at this establishment. I definitely will not go again.

The service has been good the times we have visited and our orders come out in a timely manner. The vibe is pretty cool, they do have loud music playing and this past weekend they had someone singing live music. We tried the nachos (half order)- I would rate them a 5/10. They serve a good portion however our chips were stale. We have also tried the papa with the meat- 7/10 pretty good, great portions. My fiancé really liked it. This would be a repeat order for him, for me personally, I would try something else. Lastly, 9/10 is the giant quesadilla. This is what you go to El Plebe for! It is delicious and definitely a shareable. You can share it between 2-3 persons. The flavor is fantastic and unmatched. You cannot go wrong with this order. We add crushed takis to the taco. It's sooo good!

I requested beef fajitas, two cheddar cheese enchiladas, a crispy corn taco with ground beef filling. The plate included rice and beans, guacamole and a choice of tortillas. I asked for flour. When my plate arrived the food looked hot, tasty and freshly made. After giving everything on my plate a try, here is my subjective assessment of the meal. Again, this was my only visit so I didn't try anything else. Service: 5 out 5, servers were friendly, helpful and attentive. You can tell they take pride in their jobs. They all wore matching black T-shirts. They refilled my drink and stopped by to ask if I needed anything else. Atmosphere: 5 out 5, not fancy but who cares. It was clean, comfortable and inviting. It feels like it's been there since 1972. Food: 3 out 5, although the items on my plate looked fresh and tasty, I felt only two items really stood out. The crispy taco was the best item on my plate. It was crunchy and delicious. The flour tortillas were freshly made and delicious. However, the beef fajitas were bland and chewy. The cheese enchiladas seriously lacked flavor. The cheese filling and enchilada sauce could and should have been better. The rice and refied beans were flavorless. Overall, the flavors were muted and I would say needed more seasoning. I wanted to give it a higher rating. I may try going again in the future but I'll order something different. They serve breakfast too.
