A lot of people in and out to visit and hospice was there almost every day. They were so welcoming and accommodating and kind with everyone. More important was the incredible care they gave our dad. They couldn't have treated him with more attention, love, and skilled care. They consistently reported back to us how things were going in detail and were in lock-step with hospice. We felt so relieved to have him in such a wonderful place. And, it is clean, has a large parking area... a very comforting and homey feel.

Dealing with management was a nightmare, and the care given my mother was minimal, at best. If micromanaging every aspect of your loved one's care is how you want to spend your time, then, by all means, choose BO. However, if you require real care for your loved one, there is another assisted living facility in town that is exceptional, Sodalas of Buda. The FIRST day we moved mom in, after several instances of communication, BO forgot that she was arriving!! We had even postponed the move-in a day, and BO was notified, and they couldn't even get that right! And, when I first asked about visiting her, I was told that I needed to inform them at least the day before each visit. In retrospect, I should have turned and run then, but I felt that with COVID (This was June, 2021), that maybe they were taking extra precautions, and that was hopefully a good sign. I ended up asking them to put me down for visits every day, and it never came up again. As far as the business office, it was a nightmare to work with. Perhaps because of her ineptness, the executive director was more often than not passive aggressive with her correspondence (both written and in-person) with my brother and myself. Mistake after mistake after mistake, and NEVER an apology. We were always told that anything she did was "as a courtesy." Numerous billing errors, non-working fax machines, vaccine mix-up's, miscommunication across the board, among many other issues were experienced not once, but often at BO. The NUMBER ONE reason anyone lives in assisted living is because he/she can no longer independently take care of him/herself. In other words, this person no longer has the mental facilities and/or physical capabilities of self-care. When I would visit my mom, she would often be unkempt and unclean. Her hair was messy, dirty, and uncombed, and her body would often smell. The rotating staff (they couldn't keep anyone) would tell me that she refused to bathe, or if it was to go to dinner, she refused to go to dinner, or for anything else they didn't want to do, they would use the excuse that she refused to cooperate and they couldn't force her. I understand that they couldn't force her to do anything she didn't want to do, but, as I discussed several times with the wellness director, the employees should be trained to work with assisted living residents. When working with children or those with diminished capacities, one who is properly trained or has any common sense, doesn't ask if they want their diaper changed or a shower, the caretaker, in a nice, but firm manner, tells them what they're going to do. It works! The day before we moved my mom out, my daughter and I had come to BO @ 11:15 am to pack things up. My mom was still in bed with one leg on the floor, unable to get up. She said she was ok, but finally, we helped her up about 12:30ish, and when she weakly walked to the bathroom, her Depends were sagging below her knees and urine was dripping out onto the floor. I called down to see why she hadn't had breakfast, AND why no one had come to get her for lunch. She had no water, no food at least that morning, and I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't have any Saturday (the day before) also. She was dehydrated, yet her Depends were so full, they were dripping. This is DEFINITELY elderly neglect. If a child isn't given food (even though he/she says, "No!," and his/her diaper isn't changed for over a day, society would call that child neglect and even child abuse.) A little later, a really hateful girl brought a horrible lunch with no drink and no apologies from anyone. Once again, they said she didn't want to go eat. UNACCEPTABLE! From the beginning, housekeeping at BO was poor. Trash was to be removed daily-I often did it myself. Laundry was to be done at least weekly; the first four-five months when I was visiting, when her laundry basket would be overflowing and smelly, I actually would do her laundry myself. After numerous complaints, it finally was addressed and did improve the last few months she lived there. Her apartment also smelled terribly; I would actually open the window, whether cold or warm outside just to remove the smell. This was also addressed numerous times with management, and it did improve a little at the end. With Sodalis, my mother's apartment has NEVER had a bad odor. We encountered problems on EVERY level of care at BO, and my brother and I can finally relax as we no longer have to manage all aspects of my mom's care or lack of it. We still will be actively involved, but at my mom's new home, Sodalis Buda, the staff and management have earned both my respect and my trust.

Meals are delicious & staff seemed organized when feeding & giving meds to residents in dining room. First full day at Auberge I visited my husband. I located him in the activities room, in his wheelchair w/his head hanging low. He was unresponsive. A staff member approached me & advised he had been in this state for a long time. Nurse was called & he was rushed to the hospital for a 2-day stay. My Husband was given wrong medication which had been discontinued. Auberge advised this was not their fault but the pharmacy's fault. My husband was sent back to Auberge and perished several days later. Heartbroken! I paid over $7000 for the first month. Upon my husband's death, I was advised there will be a refund of some kind. Apparently the Contract I signed states an Additional 2-weeks will be charged when resident dies. My refund will be less than $2000 which means I'm paying over $4000 for a 1-week stay minus the 2 days in hospital. I understand mandatory two weeks charge upon death if resident had a lengthy stay, BUT my husband was there for 7 days (minus the days in hospital cause by, in my opinion, improperly medicating)! Unhappy!! Experience from Friday, 8/30/24 through Friday, 09/06/24.

The best aspect of The Auberge is hands down the staff. Between the Administrative staff and the care givers I know my mom is well cared for and looked after. They are patient, attentive and provide stimulation for all of the residents throughout the day. Her room is always very clean and her hygiene is of upmost importance. Before moving my mom to The Auberge at Bee Cave, she was living in a different Assisted Living community. I struggled with clear communication and follow up because my mom is nonverbal. The staff at The Auberge Bee Cave is very sensitive to this condition. They all are very communicative and anytime there is a question or an incident they call me immediately. It is such a relief knowing that my mom is safe and in a caring community that truly looks after her needs.

Moving into The Reserve is the best thing I ever did. I got…read more a one bedroom apartment with a kitchen equipped with a large refrigerator and a microwave oven. Plenty of cabinet space and drawers. The kitchen also has a large double stainless steel sink and faucet. The wall across from the kitchen has a large closet for storage and also a full size GE washing machine and dryer. The living room has plenty of room for a large recliner, a grandfather clock, a 65 inch Samsung TV and a large double door cabinet where I have my 27 inch iMac computer. Between the recliner and outside wall I also have a 36"x36" pedestal table, where I have a large hammered copper lamp with shade. The two walls forming the corner behind the recliner and grandfather clock, have two large glass windows covered by Venetian blinds. Moving through the lockable door into the bedroom there is room enough for a queen sized bed, and a three drawer cabinet with lamp. The outside wall has a large window covered with Venetian blinds. Sliding double doors lead into a closet with plenty of room for hanging shirts, and with shelves that hold baskets for socks, and underwear. Under the shelf on the right there is room for a large four drawer cabinet where I can store pajamas and a large collection of various shoes. A single sliding door leads into a spacious bathroom, complete with a shower, toilet, and lavatory. There are two spacious cabinets and drawers next to the shower. Another reason I picked this third floor apartment is that it is located next to the fire escape stairs. I never use the elevators because I like the exercise I get walking up and down the stairs. My apartment is also located at the very end of this wing of The Reserve apartment complex. Consequently I don't hear or see any of my neighbors. Thanks for your time and attention. My husband and I came here over two years ago, and he passed away in March. I've chosen to stay here. We used every level of service as he deteriorated. My family and I believe he was as happy, loved, entertained and comforted more here than any other place we could have found. I have felt very protected since Covid 19 started with all protocols enforced. No place is perfect; not even at home. But I don't believe we could have found a place that met our needs better than The Belmont at West Lake Hills. If I did, I'd move.

They entertained him all day, went along with his silly stories, and took such great care of him. My dad had Lewy body Dementia and was in the highest level of care they provided. He ultimately had a stroke last week and passed away. Thankfully, they let us be with him in his last few days and provided support and privacy and lots of comfort. So many of the caregivers, staff, and others who worked there stopped in, some with tears, and told us sweet memories and funny stories about our dad. We love this place and would recommend it to anyone. Also, dad loved their food and often got seconds. Thank you to everyone who cared for him.

The Grove is different than other luxury communities in that if a person moves into Independent Living and experiences a decline in health necessitating increased care (Assisted Living or Memory Care) the additional services come to the resident, and the resident does not have to relocate to a new apartment in Assisted Living or Memory Care. This is a very nice accommodation! Also, the Grove employs their own "Nursing Staff" who can attend to residents when there is a fall, skin tear, etc. The resident does not have to go to the doctor or an ER to get checked out. The nursing staff comes to see the resident in their apartment. The Grove is centrally located in Austin and has several restaurants within walking distance of the community. The streets are well-lit, and the sidewalks are new and wide enough to accommodate individuals who use walkers or wheelchairs and there seems to be plenty of parking. Many more pluses in the services offered in this community. Well worth stopping by to see if this community is fit for your family member or loved one.
