Located in the "ilani" casino, this Japanese restaurant serves up quality that will satisfy your hankering for sushi. Though their menu is smaller than most, they do have one or two vegetarian rolls, and a few cooked rolls for those that don't want Raw. They also have an interesting cocktail offering. I was tempted to order a cocktail that used wasabi, maybe next time. At the sushi bar, we met a couple that said Longhouse was their favorite sushi house, even considering places in Portland. Well... I didn't come to the same conclusion. I give the place an 87% overall. The chairs at the dining tables had no back rest (being a casino restaurant, my guess is they want high turn over on tables). The wait staff could have been better. I do like that the place is open until 11pm, even weekdays. All that said, I enjoyed a very satisfying meal with my wife. I'd go back for more. read more

This was our first time coming to Ilani and we thought the Longhouse would be great for dinner. It wasn't exceptionally busy but we were seated within a couple of minutes (despite two guys who cut us off and tried to jump the line and way after we had arrived). We waited almost 15 minutes before we even got service -- and that's because we finally flagged someone down who wasn't even our server. Meanwhile, the two guys who tried to cut us off were already drinking and getting their food. By 25 minutes, we finally got our drinks. We had to request water, 10 minutes later we got it. Between three people, we ordered two rolls, a nigiri, a bowl of ramen, vegetarian fried rolls, and duck potstickers. The ramen and fried appetizers came out first. The nigiri order came out as sashimi. Then 20-25 minutes later, the rolls eventually came out. Overall, we were here for over an hour and a half for what we thought would be a reasonably quick meal. The table across from us was waiting for their change when we sat down and was still waiting for about 15 minutes after we were sat. So: service was practically nonexistent. They got the nigiri order wrong. Also, on the menu they marked the veggie roll as vegetarian even though it came with unagi (eel) sauce -- that's NOT vegetarian. I ordered it without and was disappointed-- it was a basically a rice-heavy greasy vegetable tempura role with sesame oil. The ramen had fatty pork chunks that were inedible. Overall, this was extremely disappointing. The servers knew that we had been waiting for too long and seemed apologetic but little indication of them carIng existed. They could have said in the beginning, "oh, sorry we are so busy but we'll help you out soon!" But didn't. Not even a mediocre discount. I worked in food service for ten years and I would be so embarrassed by this service. Plus, a server dropped and shattered dirty plates behind us, splashing the area with sauces and food stuffs. Broken chunks of dishes fell under our seats. No one even checked to see if we were okay. We thoroughly checked our selves and jackets to make sure we weren't stained with food and shards of dishes. The icing on the cake was when we left, there were three employees idly standing at the entrance to bid goodbye, while the overworked sole waitress was running about. I do not recommend. For an almost $100 bill, I expected at least an acceptable level of service and time. I expected our orders to come out correct and relatively tasty, but it was neither. I will not return. read more

Great atmosphere with native steel artwork. Cozy tables for two and ample sushi bar seats. Wait staff way friendly, prompt and accommodating. I found the 4 Pork sumo and the Miami and sashimi a little pricy but the rolls and bowls where reasonably priced. It was a little bit chilly out side so I ordered warm traditional saki, that warmed my belly right up!!! I left feeling full and satisfied. It's a must try if you enjoy Sushi. I never would have thought that I'd find amazing Japanese/Asian food in a casino in Washington. The shrimp tempura was perfectly battered (unlike so many places that have way more batter than shrimp). And my boyfriend mentioned that the bao buns reminded him of his visits to China. What keeps it from being a 5-star rating was the consistency. The shoyu ramen was ok (proper traditional toppings like enoki mushrooms, but the broth was a little bland); and the fillings for the pork shumai was on the dry side. The service was awesome. Friendly, efficient and just enough attention without being intrusive. Would definitely come here again, and maybe try the sushi that others are recommending. read more

The food was great. The waitress was superb. The cook staff and bartender could use some help. Food and beverage 101: Being that I helped write the Last Frontier's standard operating procedures I think I can speak well on areas they could make changes. 1. Tickets that come out for cooks need to be up on a rack so they don't loose track of their order of arrival. The longhouse cooks did not work together to make sure my wife's and my meals came out together. Mine took 30 minutes and hers took and hour. When we came in the cooks had no orders and we were first to order. Everyone after us got their food before my wife. She was a bit mad but I was observing closely so I could give constructive feedback. 2. My "signature " front menu drink took 15 minutes to arrive and the bartender admitted he had never made one. That needs to be addressed. With a missing fish tank and no tv's the Long House would make a great spot for bartender with flair training. Have a person to put on a show and kill it there. The waitress did take off my wife's meal as a show of good practice for making her wait so long while I ate my entire meal. So that was plus. 3. I do feel bad for all the employees. No one should have to work that tightly together. It makes for unsanitary conditions bumping into your coworkers , unsafe, and just plain dumb. I hope they get a remodel and this is taken care of one day soon. 4. The centered food distribution point for waitresses to get their food was right next to my right arm. That gives me access to someone's food that I shouldn't have. Highly unsanitary and I could easily bumped and dumped a plate. So that is all I have at this time and I do like the place for all the good tastes and beautiful counter top. It just needs some more character with professional practices that will make it even better. This is just one man's opinion. I am open to return anytime for another review. This restaurant is located in ilani casino. My cousins took me here and at first it seemed really skeptical because usually food inside a casino is not that great. I was very highly satisfied with the customer service at this restaurant. It was absolutely amazing and I ordered myself some ramen (forgot the name) and it was so good. The broth was so savory, the noodles tasted so fresh and the chasu meat was absolutely amazing. My brother got a sushi dish and it tasted so fresh, the fish didn't have a funky smell, and it was the right amount of pieces for a decent roll. This restaurant also serve some other dishes that looked really amazing and the next time that I come here I will definitely explore their sushi menu more. read more

For being the only late night place to eat it rates only fair in my book. We had wings and beef and broccoli noodles. Basically like top Raman with a few pieces of beef and other veggies. The service was a little weird. The wings were not very meaty and the flavor was ok. The waitress gave me a fork and then gave my bf chop sticks for his wings. A little puzzling. Then heard me over talk about it and brought me chop sticks in a little bit of a snarky attitude. We frequent the casino at least once or twice a week. Out of all the restaurants this one rates at the bottom. We will leave before we eat there again. read more

I've eaten here a few times hoping it would improve. It never has. The rolls aren't tight, don't taste fresh or overcooked. Their chicken in their dishes tastes reheated and tough. The fried rice isn't all that great. The General Tso's is a joke. You wouldn't know it was General Tso's if you hadn't ordered it. Some of their other dishes don't add up to a good meal. She went above and beyond and she had to put up with a real waste of a Life customer who ordered an expensive plate of sushi and then got all crappie about it but not making clear what he didn't like. She didn't even bat an eye and was very professional and still served us and was fabulous. Never had a problem here even though you have to wait once in awhile cuz they get busy. Im gluten free and dairy free which makes going out to eat difficult. However here their waitress was sweet enough to have the sushi chef come over to us and ask what kind of sushi I liked. Our first time at the Long House. We sat up at the bar right in front of the sushi fish display case. I didn't order any Sushi because the thermometer read 42 degrees in the case( you can't take culinary schooling and temp. control out of a girl). I opted for a ramen dish and my husband teriyaki chicken. His food came, however mine was made wrong and had to be remade. The service person apologized and offered us a discount that never happened. Waters were never refilled as promised and food was o.k. but not spectacular. Wouldn't eat there again. Pretty pricey too. read more

Horrible Horrible service. Ordered take out and was first told we'd have to call back in 30 minutes because they were out of rice. Okay no big deal. Called back, was instantly put on hold, Then we finally get to order, and clearly said NO CRAB, due to an allergy. Get home, and there is crab ALL over our Sushi. I called back to ask if it was imitation or not and Anna (the rude gal who took our order) said "well I told them No crab so that's the chef's fault not mine." It's a DEADLY crab allergy. I don't care who's fault it is. And after checking our receipt it doesn't say anything about a crab allergy. So clearly it was Anna who didn't let the chef know. Nothing was offered. No refund, No replacement, just a quick "sorry about that" then hung up. If it wasn't so late, I would have driven back to have a chat. read more

This place gets 3 stars, which according to Yelp is A-OK! I thought the food was great! My friend and I were at the casino for his birthday and wanted some snacks & drinks to help hold us over till our late dinner plans. Saturday around 3pm we enjoyed martinis, shrimp cocktail, tempura, and wings. I found the food quite delicious and the bartender made a great cocktail. Our issue was with the service and I see some of the other reviews mention it. It's not going into all the details but needless to say we had a poor experience, part of which required my friend being instructed to go up to the Casino's guest service counter to figure something out, only to be sent back to the restaurant and it still being an issue... The manager did eventually make it right after my conversation with her, and for that, the review of the restaurant gets brought up to 3 stars instead of 1 star. I appreciate her making the moment right for me, listening and empathizing with the situation. I hope she works on improving her team's customer service capabilities. I don't live near here so doubt I'll ever eat here again, but you never know. I would recommend it for drinks and snacks, but maybe you should sit at the bar. read more

This place is a tiny treasure! We were seated immediately during dinner rush on a Friday night. We started with the cry baby and the veggie tempura which was so delicious and portions were huge. My husband ordered the pho and I ordered a couple classic sushi rolls. The pho was really good, the sushi was kind of generic but I was already pretty full from our appetizers anyway. I also ordered the sparkling beauty to drink and it was a perfect light and bubbly side to my dinner and ending with a nice boozey soaked strawberry in the bottom. My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Monday. We went during the week to avoid any potential crowds. As we had hoped the restaurant was nearly empty so there was a good chance of getting our food relatively quickly, we thought. Everything took a very long time, from initial greeting to first actual food being tabled was excruciating long. My wife's beef and broccoli rice bowl was okay at $12, it needed some seasoning or something to raise it above fair. She did ask for some sriracha which as you might have guessed took forever to get. She kept picking at her dish while waiting for the sriracha and by the time it arrived, half of her meal was gone and rest was cold. The sushi dragon roll we orderd was very bland and arrived several minutes after the sriracha. My wife being nearly done with her meal when this $15 appetizer arrived had lost interest in it but did try a couple of bites. Neither she nor I was impressed. However, I was just glad to see food in front of me by this point. Several minutes later my nigiri arrived. It consisted of 8 pieces; 2 Escolar, 2 big eye, 2 Maguro and 2 Salmon for $28. The fish was all just fine, in fact better than most places in or near the Couve. The rice was really an under performer though. So much potential lost here, a little good rice wine vinegar added to that rice would have been a game changer. The place is clean and pleasant enough but the music from the casino is off putting if you are looking for a relaxing dining experience. I can not recommend this place based on this experience and I won't be giving it a second chance. read more

Updated review: I absolutely adore the sushi at longhouse, but since they have expanded the restaurant it has become so much better! Plenty of room to sit and visit with friends while enjoying amazing sushi, pho , Ramen or many other options. Great place to try some Japanese whiskey's as well! The food at Longhouse is a five-star, but I had to lower the score due to flagrantly terrible service last Friday (9/27). We only come to Ilani for this restaurant, we eat here 1-2 times a month, and consistently spend $100 for two people. Right from the start the service was terrible. When the waiter brought out our first plate of sushi. He sets it down and then as an after-thought, asks "did you want soy sauce with that?" Which to a sushi lover is a silly question. However we politely said "yes, please." So then he proceeded to clear tables and fill water glasses in the dining room, eventually bringing soy sauce. From there he continued to suck: couldn't be bothered to clear plates, and just avoided us until the check - quickly closing out our bill, rather than (upselling?) asking if we'd like anything else to drink (we had tea and a glass of sake). There were plenty of empty tables, so it wasn't as if people were waiting for ours to be available. The sushi? Delicious as always. The service was so terrible that we'll probably only get it to go in the future. Additional note: glad they've expanded their dining room - however the acoustics are horrid - difficult to hear table conversations due to noise. read more

This was our first visit here, food was decent and the sushi was very fresh. A little pricey, $28 for a Lobster Boom roll. Eek. Drinks were delicious, I had the yuzu haze, a citrus sake cocktail that was awesome. Pork shumai was ok, not my favorite. Shrimp cocktail was great, huge shrimp and on happy hour. Veggie tempura was nice, all sauces with our dishes were excellent. Seating is a little odd, mainly for parties of two it seems, also bar top dining is available. We also had a California roll and an Oh Henry roll, both great. And the lemon dessert was perfect! We would definitely return. read more

Sushi rolls are huge! I can normally eat two but one is more than enough here. I almost always order the Hoison Wings. They never disappoint. I wish seating was more comfortable here but what can you do. It's an extremely small space. I am not a fan of their ramen but wings and sushi are delicious. read more

atmosphere: pretty! i have a soft spot for casinos, having visited las vegas often as a child and teenager to just generally absorb my wealthier family members' luxurious hotels. clean, lots of LEDS and such. service: good, waitress was attentive. i'm only 20 so there isn't much to say otherwise. food: not poison. half the stuff was clearly from a package you could get at any east-asian market or world market, priced upwards an insane amount. the sushi was good, not memorable. the ramen was pretty gross, about as gross as a maruchan or top ramen packet. which is to say, not something you should be eating at a restaurant. i say this as someone who ate top ramen brand ramen for a good part of my life. the pork that came with it, however, was actually extremely tasty and whoever made it clearly knew what they were doing. the shumai was also pretty nasty, somehow more bland than fatty. i'm sure it would have tasted great if i was hammered; the texture and presentation was nice. it tasted mostly like nothingness and vague fishiness, despite being a pork dumpling. all and all, functional if you're at the casino, have extra money, and it's close by. the sushi isn't bad and everything is cleanly, but you're really paying for atmosphere and everything that comes with it being in a casino. read more

Poké is not worth ordering. Service is not bad, but not great either. Unfortunately longhouse didn't live up to its hype.

We've had several Moms Night Out events at the casino and always end up finishing the night with some sushi. The food is amazing! So flavorful and fresh. My one issue is the cost of a sushi roll. I order an avocado roll and it's $8. Wow! Must be some gold rolled in there somewhere for that price. Regardless, we will be back as the food is yummy. read more

So, an update for LongHouse Sushi . . . meh . . . The quality and portion size is All over the map . . . I always get the Poke Ahi, 3 Oysters on the half shell and a sushi roll (usually made with tuna) . . . just, like I said, ya never know how fresh its gonna be or how its garnished and served . . Ordered a Premium Saki flight last week and they served it cold ? ? . . . not all Saki's should be warned but I've never had rpremium rice saki served cold before. read more

First time dining at the longhouse with my son and it was very good. The California rolls were outstanding and larger than normal with plenty of flavor. The dragon roll was another fine choice as well as the salmon eggs-Ikura. Additionally, the service was great, patient and very friendly. I highly recommend this resturaunt and will definetly return. And amidst the issues with covid they are open for in-door dining which is the way it should be everywhere. The longhouse was very clean and the seating design is comfortable and roomy. This is a great resturaunt to support whether during a pandemic or not. read more
