This restaurant is so fantastic. We came to Wimberley from Austin for a quick overnight trip to reset and reconnect from the city. The stuffed quail and wagyu burger were outstanding, as was the wine selection. Everyone from the hostess, server and chef were incredibly kind and provided great service. The chef even came out at the end of the night and thanked each table, which I haven't seen in years at a restaurant. It gives Gilmore girl vibes here for sure. My husband and I stopped by longleaf on a weekend getaway to Wimberly and absolutely loved it, our server Laine took amazing care of us and recommended drinks that we typically would not lean in for but by our surprise they were delicious. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and very patient with all the questions we had. Besides the fact that it takes FOREVER to actually get food, the food you get is overpriced and lackluster. My husband order the beef lasagna and it was quite honestly the smallest portion of lasagna I've ever seen. A kids portion at best and for $20!!! I ordered the beef mushroom soup. It really should be called beef broth and mushroom soup because there was absolutely no beef at all! And the soup tasted like water, no joke. Luckily this was only $8 but seriously, NO FLAVOR AT ALL. Such a yummy meal, start to finish. We asked for some changes to the cocktail menu and had no problem getting exactly what we wanted. Appetizers were fried oyster deviled eggs (SO good!) and bruschetta. For dinner we had a fish special, burger, salad with roasted sweet potatoes and more oysters. Everything was delicious and the 4 of us were all more than satisfied. The service was attendant but not overly so and we felt comfortable taking our time (we sat for a long time since we were with friends we hadn't seen in a few years). We are local, however, tonight was our first time to experience Longleaf Craft Kitchen. We started out with the fried oysters. Honestly, I wasn't expecting them to be so moist (I know that word made some of you cringe) with them being fried but they were MOIST and not overcooked. There were 3 of us in our party and each of us tried something different. We had the Wagyu Burger, the Quail and the Red Snapper. While all of them were good the Snapper was over the top INCREDIBLE. Oh how I wish that had been my order. Thankfully my son was willing to at least let us sample. The service also was really exceptional. Julia was our server and she was on top of everything making sure that our food was out on time (super quick service) and that we were pleased. Have been to Longleaf two other times for cocktails, but this past Saturday we went for lunch and drinks with some friends in town. Arrived right after opening so no wait and asked to sit outside. All the tables were open but they put us in a corner facing a fence with half the table in direct sun. We moved our chairs around and made it work. Waitress was super nice but either very new or having a rough day. Took our drink and appetizer order. Ten minutes later she came back to tell us one drink wasn't available. We adjusted, waited another 10 minutes for the drinks to show. It was not our waitress who brought them so we asked the woman to tell our waitress we were ready to order. Another 15 minutes went by and waitress brought our appetizer. We ordered our meal and it came pretty quickly. I ordered the wild rice, avocado, and shrimp salad. When the salad came without the shrimp the waitress told me the salad didn't come with shrimp. When I reminded her the name implied it was a shrimp salad she came back a few minutes later with a few shrimp on a plate. Other than that the food was good if a bit ordinary. We had to flag down someone to find our waitress when we were done to bring the check. The message is service is nice but very slow. Be specific if sitting outside about where you want to be (and ask for bug spray), and expect a good meal overall. read more

When this place originally opened it had an incredible possibility, however, as they have continued operations they have lost much of the charm and quality. Food is a bit above average and the atmosphere is slightly better. However, what is actually going against this restaurant is the over presence of an owner who has not learned to engage with customers in a constructive way. This would have been a go to place for me if it were not for a really awkward presence. I cannot give them above two stars but it is not because of the food, the menu or the employees. We recently visited Longleaf to celebrate my wife's birthday with friends who invited us. After reading the history and reviews we were very excited. We were promptly seated on arrival at 8:30 and welcomed. Our friends joined us. At the table next to us was a couple with an infant. It was late for the infant and he or she screamed with a shrill pitch that hurt. After 20 minutes of this (the place was full) I diplomatically asked our waitress if we could be moved. Not to interrupt the couple and infant. A short time later we were graciously moved into the next room. We ordered a variety of cocktails including a house Margarita and Signature drinks. All great! We ordered fried olives stuffed with anchovies. Unusual and very good. We had a goat cheese and apple tart that was very good. We could see the table where we were. Every time the infant would scream people would grimace. I ordered Gulf Shrimp and Fried Oysters, R ordered the Quail, and our friends the Pork Chop. When food arrived the Oysters were cold. I left our waitress know and it was immediately taken care of. All of our dishes were excellent in preparation and flavor. Our friends had one of their favorite Bordeaux's as there is an excellent wine list in addition to a full bar. Our desserts were very good. Chocolate always wins. We eat at fine dining restaurants often. It is unusual for an infant to be present. Especially that late. The screaming continued until 10:00pm when they left. The parents seemed oblivious to the impact on dining guests as did management. Our server and service was excellent. Our food was excellent. Restaurants make mistakes as we all do and it's how they recover. Like with the Oysters. Immediately. Graciously. To the best of my knowledge, management never intervened with the parents on behalf of a full house. I would have rated 5* had this no continued for over 1.5 hours. We will return. read more

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS PLACE! Me and my friends came to Wimberly for a girls weekend and had already planned to come to this location because of the great reviews. We had an amazing server with such a bubbly personality. I love that the chef came out to speak to us before and after our meal. It really personalized the experience. I deduced on the tomato grilled cheese and the crispy potatoes. Unsure of what cheeses were used on this grilled cheese but YES! This was ooey gooey goodness! The cheese pulls were massive and I didn't want to put it down. The potatoes were crispy and tasted even better in their homemade ketchup. Picked this spot on a whim, since my wife and I were exploring Dripping Springs and met a couple that were from Wimberley. Located in Wimberley Square, Longleaf is a cute restaurant with a rustic atmosphere and a spacious patio area. Service is fine, everyone is welcoming and we were checked on a few times but the food (especially at premium prices) is simply awful. Wife and I shared a wagyu burger (medium) with potatoes and a side of broccolini. Ordered at 7:10pm, waited around 30 minutes before checking with the server, and it finally came out right before 8pm which is closing. Upon first glance, the burger patty looked super packed with hardly any fat... not a good sign, and the bun was nothing special. Once bit into, it was a harder texture and slightly overcooked - is this really wagyu? Frozen low quality Texas wagyu perhaps? It doesn't take a lot to impress me for burgers, but honestly I'd take a $5 whataburger over this $18 thing. Broccolini had zero seasoning and came lukewarm. Crispy potatoes were flavorful, but were the only redeeming part of the meal. I would have asked for a replacement chicken sandwich but it was past closing and we weren't going to wait another 50 minutes. Tl;dr don't do it. The best part of our experience was the crispy potato side and topo chico sparkling water. read more

Great date night bar for my husband and me!! We had a meat and cheese tray that was delightfully intriguing! It had some plums and peaches that were delicious with a Texas honey! The meats and cheese were also great! We tried the Karbach cherry limeade raddler and my husband loved it! It was too sweet for me! They have a nice list of drinks, wine, and craft beers...as well as the more traditional. The garden patio looked nice!! They are almost finished with their outdoor kitchen which will be great! What a great find. Thinking we were going to eat pizza it was serendipity that the pizza place was closed and we found Longleaf on the square. We tried the deviled eggs with a large, fresh, flash fried oyster on top. It was divine. These 4 beautiful eggs were a generous portion and wonderfully prepared. We then ordered the Wagyu burger which was cooked perfectly and shared the plate with a spring greens salad served with homemade creamy balsamic dressing. It was all just perfect. We will be back. I contemplated being very judicious about whom I would share this wonderful find. I decided that was selfish so I'm posting my review for all to see. Do yourself a favor and try it soon. read more

I was expecting luciousness. third time with friends, had the lasagna entree and it was almost shockingly bad. A wierd, dry wedge of I think lasagna, old, very bland, about an inch thick. a side of greens with a thick, kind of balsamic dressing. Ate half. I noticed my friends didn't eat their entire servings.
