Delicious!! We decided to go out and explore this thing called Longs Donuts that we'd heard so much about. There were cars parked everywhere at 2p on an unassuming Sunday afternoon. The line was out the door and I heard this was a normal afternoon. We knew we were in the right place. He air smelled of sweet stickiness and the cases were full of delightful treats! I felt I'd been transported to Willy Wonkas or a Longs Bakery equivalent. The line went fairly quickly and we ordered just about 1 of everything. Including cookies. The donuts are delightful and the chocolate dipped yeast donuts were he right balance of sweetness and donut. Some bakeries get this wrong. Longs did not. We have donuts for days and will be happy to return. Make sure to try the Cinnamon and Apple Frys. I'm guessing this is a donut without a hole. Whatever it is, delicious is its name. read more

Half the size of a normal doughnut. 73 cents. Bought a yeast raised chocolate-dipped. 10% larger than a cake. Heh, Long's fans, has it changed over the years? Because I live on the North side of Indy, I don't come here very often, but it's they sort of place that you're always on the lookout to have an excuse to come by. The donuts, of every kind imaginable, are fresh and delicious. I don't know why they are so much better than other donuts, but they are. Both in variety and taste. Oh my fried heaven. Holy crap guys. You have to come here, it's small a bit on a busy day which is almost daily but can you blame them?! Their yeast donuts are clouds of heaven. I literally want to come here daily it's so good but definitely make the trip out here. Be careful though its cash only but I promise it's totally worth the extra trip to the atm! Long's probably makes the best donuts in Indianapolis. I haven't had donuts from all of the donut shops here, so I can't say for certain, but it really seems like you couldn't make a better donut if you tried. The cream filling on the donuts is smooth, sweet (but not overly so) and surprising light. The donuts are light and airy as well. Nice and chewy as you bite into them. Just pretty much perfection. While I like the cream-filled chocolate glazed the best, I wouldn't turn down any of their other varieties. Now if only they were closer to my house ... but I guess it's a good thing they're not as I'd have a tough time maintaining a standard of moderation. Pack your patience if you go on a weekend morning. We stopped in over the summer and the line was out the door even during a strong thunderstorm. A lot of people seemed to think Long's donuts were good enough to risk being struck by lightning. The line moves, but at only a moderate pace. My only minor gripe is the way you order. If you're not familiar with what they have there isn't a great way to scan the selection -- you have to know or listen to others' selections or try to peek through the line at the bakery cases. It's kind of harrowing as a rookie and it suddenly turns pretty fast-paced once it's your turn. They're nice enough and helpful so it all works out, but that part of the experience seems a little challenging to me. read more

Very good donuts, but they limit themselves. It doesn't seem like they have a plan on expansion and growth and are very content just being in business. They should be much bigger. They don't offer delivery, but only accepts cash payment so that prevents services like Grubhub from delivering, which would be useful as they almost always have long lines. They have two locations, but are so far away from the city that it takes real dedication to shop there regularly unless you live close by. Why they don't have a location around downtown Indy is beyond me. I love the donuts. I don't love the accessibility, which is a shame because they could really be huge if they really tried. read more

I heard about Long's Donuts from a Yelp reviewer's Indianapolis Must Go list. Got there around 9 am and there was a hella long line with half of it outside in the freezing cold weather. Since people were waiting in it, I figured it must be good and put on my beanie to go brave the cold wait ahead of me. About 10 minutes later, I stepped inside the small donut store and took a look at all the beetus inducing options. Really, if you're on a diet, you better skip on this place because everything they have is ridiculously sugary looking (I'm looking at you, Alligators). I picked up a couple glazed donuts and a caramel and chocolate long john. The glazed donuts were decent as I ate them right in my car. If they were fresh and warm, they'd be infinitely better. They tasted like less tasty Krispy Kreme donuts, which is a chain that doesn't seem to be in Indy and probably the reason why people like Long's Donuts so much I guess! Krispy Kreme has perfected the yeast donut...Long's Donuts had that "small business, handmade" feel but I still prefer KK donuts over them as they are light, fluffy, and perfectly glazed. Also, you have to eat donuts from Long's the day of! After two days, my donuts were rather dried out and even heating in the microwave couldn't fully save them. I wasn't impressed with the chocolate long john either, since the chocolate coating was this weird, not really chocolate-tasting frosting. I probably won't be back to Long's since I've had better donuts, but for the cheap price, these are a decent option for those looking for a donut fix. read more

The best bakery in town. Amazingly fresh yeast donuts that are good to eat even days later. I've tried other flavors but they all seem way too rich while the yeast is just right. I do wish Long's were in a better neighborhood. The south side location is too far and the west location usually isn't worth the risk to be in the area. read more

The doughnuts aren't what we are used to but definitely worth trying. The Apple cinnamon fries (I think that's what it was called) is delicious ! The glazed is really good also. Will for sure be back by before leaving town from visiting! It is cash only but it is posted everywhere so no inconvenience with that.
