I happen to be in Kaneohe and went to this CVS Longs Drugs at Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center. This Kaneohe store was almost empty which I thought was unusual as I normally shop at CVS Longs Drugs at Pali Highway... which is always busy. Anyhow I have two items and I go up to an open register #7. To reiterate I rarely go to this Kaneohe Longs Drugs and it hardly had any customers that day. The cashier (#2900924) accused me of cutting in line. I'm confused because register #7 looked open as I saw no one near by. She then pointed to a sign further back that says "Line starts here". There was one customer waiting there. Ok my bad. I did not see the sign and was unaware about that. I did not notice the one customer standing further back at the "Line starts here" sign. I've been to other Longs where you just go up to any open register. In fact... I was just at Pali Highway Longs that very morning where customers just go up to any open register. I did not like the way this Kaneohe Longs cashier handled the situation. Accusing me of cutting in line and giving me the third degree. She could have understood that people who don't normally shop at Kaneohe Longs might be unaware of that. This Longs has a wide area with the registers spread out. Unless one is already aware... that "Line starts here" sign is easy to miss. It's just the way the store is so wide open and how the layout of the things are that I did not notice. Other stores like Target and City Mill has a "Line start here" sign... but there are partitions near the checkout counters to make it obvious and hard to miss. Kaneohe Longs don't have any partitions near the checkout counters... so it is easy to miss in the wide open layout of this store. It was an honest mistake on my part. All that cashier needed to do was inform me "The line starts back there by the sign". And I would have been good with that. This was a misunderstanding that could have been better handled with simple courtesy and understanding. There was no need to make accusations in order to make me feel bad. That was uncalled for. I've later heard from other people who live in Kaneohe tell me of similar issues concerning the lack of courtesy at this Longs Drugs at Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center. Probably no wonder why the store was empty of customers. I will never come back here again and will stick to shopping at the other CVS Longs Drugs elsewhere. read more

Longs has its upside, but customer care is not it. Their restroom seems to always be out of order. I do many errands and need access to a restroom. Tonight I had to cut my trip short. Safeway will happily take my trip tomorrow. I'm rethinking where I shop for my incidentals....we have more options now, stores that want us to shop on a regular basis. read more

Possibly the worst Longs/CVS. The staff, or lack thereof, are not verse in the product. Nor do they know where to find products. Lines are long with two sometimes one cashier. "Aunty Pat" has to start yelling on the PA for assist. The assistant manager (heavy set lady with ridiculous eyelashes) is condescending and if you bring up a concern or complaint, she starts yelling at you. Then there's the pharmacy. The staff are unfriendly, uninformed and DO NOT TRUST the pharmacist Kolton. He has a chip on his shoulders, hates when customers have inquiries and just as condescending as the assistant manager. If you need to go to Long's, take a 5 minute drive to the other Long's. That store has self check out, friendly staff, a trusted pharmacy that doesn't run out of prescriptions and a much organized store. Long's has seen its days and it's time to shut down. read more

As far as I can remember, I have shopped at Longs Drugs (LD) for many, many years. My fondest memories would be during the late summers as I'd have a list of school supplies to get before the new school year started. I still find myself choosing LD as my preferred store for shopping. I am in Kaneohe a lot and this location is convenient for its 24/7 hours. I can come late in the evening to see a fairly empty store for the ideal quick in-and-out shopping. Once I started to experience a semi-bruised ankle at work with 4 hours left in my shift. I came here to get Advil. I made it through my shift without further injury. This pharmacy has good customer service. For the last 2 years I've gotten my flu shot here and has helped me survive the flu season. There was a hiccup this last go around. A Kaneohe staff called my cell TWICE with a courtesy reminder for the flu shot. I could have easily gone to Longs at Kam Shopping Center or the Pali location, where both are close to my home. But I decided to patronize Kaneohe location and was sadly disappointed. I first went to the pharmacy prescription line only to have me stand in the long line because the staff searched high and low and couldn't locate my flu shot papers. Why would Kaneohe Longs call me TWICE to have me come down for the flu shot? I didn't say anything and I stood in this long line deep with about 10 people. I waited patiently for my turn to have the staff produce my papers. I then was advised to stand in line AGAIN at the prescription line and was informed to wait as a staff needed to verify my insurance coverage. I was about to lose my cool but the young female staff was apologetic and went back and forth both register lines trying to expedite my request. I sat down and waited patiently again but this time sitting next to people who were obviously sick. Coughing, sneezing, blowing their noses.......yikes!!! Gosh, it was nerve-racking fearing that I would catch their germs. To kill time, my cell phone kept me company and waited over 20 minutes until my name was finally called. I did my best not to lose my cool when the pharmacist came out to administer my shot. It wasn't his fault that I had this extensive 30+ min wait. If you recall previous reviews, I had a really bad experience with needles as an adult that was mentally scarring. I feared the shot but the pharmacist was sincere and performed the shot without me realizing he had already inserted the needle. With a sigh of relief, I was happy it was done and off I went. Some people would penalize the business with a hiccup like this but I was overall impressed on how the staff attended to my issue. A shout out to the young Asian female staff who went the extra mile going back and forth both registers to speed up the process. read more

If I need a lei last minute, a card, pen, paper, even a snack as well as regular planned shopping, their weekly specials are a good reason to go regularly. Would get 5 stars if the employees looked happier but since CVS took over I think it lost a little of the aloha spirit. Also, I see alot of signs of theft and once saw someone walk out with 2 cases of beer and no one stopped him. This is my go-to Long's when on the Waianae coast. I stopped in last minute to stock up on Halloween Candy. They had large bags on sale, awesome. Saved me a few bucks. I took advantage of the BOGO 1/2 off halloween decorations and got me a light up headband and a garland. The headband wouldn't light up in the store, none of the 3 would, so I figured the batteries needed to adjusted. Nope! Won't light up at all! Disappointing! $7 down the drain!!!! read more

The Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center Long's Drugs has a really helpful staff. The staff are very friendly and always helps me out when I need helping with questions of products and info of products. The cashiers are friendly and efficient on checking me out from the store. The item selection isn't too bad at this store. This store pretty much has everything that I need when I go to the store. If they run out of a certain item that I would want, they've got a good "raincheck" system that'll let you pay the price for the item you want at that time when the item comes in later. The managers are friendly here at this location too. Especially one manager is really helpful and friendly that personifies Aloha...Aunty Pat is AWESOME! I recommend this Long's and will always go back and shop here. read more

This Kaneohe store has changed since CVS took over but gradually they have local kine foods etc again and have good sale prices as well. They honor rainchecks with NO EXPIRATION date, unlike Safeway who never has what's on sale and limits raincheck amounts and is a total hassle trying to USE them. Longs is a breath of fresh air. I asked about CVS benefits and the employees say it's OK and they have not lost out with the take over. This location is actually closest to the house. All I needed was nail clippers and wasn't sure if they carried them in stock. Running short on time, I ended up asking for assistance to locate the item. (It was a big store and I was unfamiliar with the layout.) Once finding the clippers, I only had to wait a few minutes for the next cashier. Overall, I had a great experience and would shop here again. read more

Shout out to Paige, who was working the cash register when my girlfriends and I came through the store. It was a late-ish evening on a Thursday night and we were on the hunt for some everyday household items--you know, shampoo, conditioner, face washes, etc. Paige was awesome at helping find everything we needed. She was patient and kind all throughout out visit--even when it came to helping us get our coupons to work. LOL cue embarrassed faces. The store itself is pretty clean, bright, and all in all, safe. Everything we needed was easy to find and the store itself was easy to navigate. Can't complain here. Long's has been a staple in Hawaii for as long as I can remember from goodies and snacks to getting my annual flu shot, prescriptions from the doctor at the pharmacy, and things for the house. read more

It's great that every neighborhood has a Longs. What happened to the good old days of Longs, now that Longs is owned by CVS? They re-did and re-organized their store and made shopping more complicated to try find and shop things and most of their items are now a CVS brand. If you don't shop on the first day of their sale, likely you will be out of luck and will have to request for a rain check. And without a CVS card or a phone number, you won't be able to secure the sale price. Some stores carry different merchandise so it's also good to drive around the island to check out the other longs. Make Longs a part of your day! read more

Had the worse experience with the Longs self check out machine. Bought a bunch of items (2 pks frozen hot dogs, 3 boxes Zips chili, 5 pkgs Sapporo Ramen) and put it in the tiny bagging area and the items kept falling off the platform. They need to extend the bagging area to have a barrier that extends upward to keep the items from falling. Unless you have 1 or 2 items, this machine is not something I will use again. I do not know where I will shop when they get rid of the cashiers because companies don't want to pay the increase in minimum wage. read more

A cashier named Steve refused to help my grandmother bag her cart full of items, claiming "it's against the law" and "he knows his rights." Meanwhile, the line continued to grow whilst he stood there and my grandmother frantically tried to bag her items. The floor manager came by to help asking why Steve didn't help her, and he snapped at the floor manager! My grandmother asked his name so she could speak to the manager, and he rudely replied, "What's your name?" He then said he was going to take my grandmother's picture and record her when she was leaving the store. Are these the kinds of employees Longs is hiring? I understand with Covid-19, everyone is under a different stress level; however, with people fighting to keep a job, why are people like Steve still employed? My family has been shopping at Longs for over 50 years, but we will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

Came to Hawaii to look at some homes for sale and happy to be back on the islands as I come quite often. Had planned on going to see the Sunrise at a nearby beach so was awake early. Jeanette, the Night shift manager was so rude to me. I walk in the store at 5:00am as I saw it's Open 24 hours and decided to go see what souvenir items they have as it sometimes differs store to store. After almost 30 min of filling my cart with many items, i went to the register to ask the girl at the register to use their bathroom first as I suddenly had to urinate. I told her it will be quick and she said there's no one to watch the back storage but will go ask her manager Jeanette. Jeanette is standing around but had been keeping an eye on me the whole time I'm there, my cart is full of prob $100 plus dollars of items but she walks by the aisle here and there to see what I'm doing. Her employee went to ask her and Jeanette tells me "no you can go to Safeway, they are open" I said oh it'll be quick i just need to go and I said please I'm not done shopping and I even said she can stand by the door to wait for me as it will be fast. She said go to Safeway and she continually refused!! And I was the ONLY customer in there at the time!!! Her employee seemed embarrassed and said she and Jeanette had been there all night. Her employee said it's because the bathroom is near storage and there are homeless they want to prevent using the bathroom. I said I'm not homeless, I didn't see homeless in this area Kaneohe, it would be quick. I pointed out the employee and Jeanette they weren't doing anything at the moment but Jeanette said bathrooms don't open till 7am(?) and just storms out the front door and walks towards Starbucks or where her car was parked. So very rude and no Aloha spirit. She sees that I have several snack items, 2023 calendars, souvenirs, etc in my cart and won't let me go urinate? It was a case of rudeness, power trip, and laziness on Jeanette's part. Sometimes managers need to think outside of the box and not judge others (I was wearing tshirt and yoga pants to go to the sunrise) and look at the situation. I left the store and didn't purchase the items. Later that day went to another Longs where I told them the story and said they would have let me use the bathroom especially because it was an empty store and they were not busy . I hope the manager of Jeanette reads this and gives her feedback. I understand rules but it's her rude demeanor, her tone, and the fact that she doesn't care to think of situations on a case by case basis. Theist pathetic part is she is had a power trip as manager of longs that instead of walking me to the restroom, she storms out the door to go across the driveway to Starbucks or her car. Since it just turned 1:30 (their lunch break) the pharmacist decided to come and just prescribe me a new one that took less than a minute to do. I grew up going to Longs. It was like a ritual every week. Go to church, then go to Longs. So I just got used to doing all my pharmacy shopping at Longs. I grew up thinking that Longs was a local company. Was I surprised to find out that they were all over Northern California! But yet I continued shopping at Longs. Now that CVS has taken over Longs, I've noticed that some brands are no longer carried by them. Some of those products are from local companies so I'm quotes disturbed that they are dropping the local products in favor of others. Bummer. But since I'm getting old and set in my ways, I'll continue to shop at Longs. Plus I always feel like I'm in prison when I go to Walgreens. This Longs is typical of all Longs. The only thing that is special is that the pharmacy is open 24 hours. So if you have wacko hours like I do, you really appreciate being able to pick up meds at 3 am. read more

I work midnight shift, so I appreciate the 24 hour convenience and the fact that every employee is so nice, especially when I am sleep deprived and feel so grouchy! They always make my shopping experience a pleasant one! For example, I kinda lost track of time and noticed that homes around me had a kadomatsu. Where did the year go? I went to Safeway for groceries and lo and behold. ..they had some scrawny dried up kadomatsu! The clerk didn't e en know what it was! No price tag or anything, so I suggested he give it to me for free! No such luck. He was gonna charge me $7.99! What? For that sad thing? I'll pass. Since Longs is nearby, I just happened to look. ..and there it was...the exact same kadomatsu. ..no price tag, scrawny and dried up. The clerk didn't know what it was either and I tried again to get it for free, but she called the manager on the phone, held it up for the camera to see, and she announced a $2.00 amount! SOLD! So now, thanks to Longs, my house is blessed and ready for the Year of the Horse! Have a good one, everybody! read more

Yelp 365 Challenge #104/365 I had to make a stop here for my grandson's medicine and to pick up baby food for him because he is able to eat baby food! YAY! So, while his mommy is standing in line for his medicine at the pharmacy. I am browsing the baby food section. I picked each fruit and vegetable of the Gerber's 1st Year's. Then, I move alittle down the aisle to choose spoons and bowls for him. As I am paying up front, the cashier is super friendly and she shares, "Just an FYI, some of the baby items will be 50% off. Don't forget to check the ads." I love it. This location is at the Kaneohe Shopping Center across the Windward Mall. I am hoping that I have the correct name of the Shopping Center but this Shopping Center has evolved throughout the years to maintain it's nice and clean look. We passed by there last night and the only way I can explain it is, it has a nice, suburban shopping center feel to it that is welcoming and friendly. I believe this store has been renovated as well because many of the Longs stores has been renovated throughout the island. Everything seems roomier without looking sparce. Longs Drug sales are hands down the best especially their value book sales. With Longs Drugs and it's customer service within this shopping center, it adds to the appeal of the center and Longs Drugs itself. This will be my choice of a drug store whenever I am on this side of the island of Oahu. read more

I've lived in Kaneohe for more than 25 years. The managers of this store are extremely helpful and accommodating. On numerous occasions, they have assisted me with locating items at other locations that they might have limited quantities of, such as marked down seasonal items. They have actually helped me call other locations to help me obtain the quantity that I needed. There are always employees around who are willing to assist whenever I have a question or need help reaching something off the top shelf. The pharmacy staff is always friendly and patient in answering questions and making me feel valued. The helpfulness of the staff and the cleanliness of the store is what makes me continue to choose this 24-hour Longs over Walgreens every time. read more

I remember Longs Drugs before it became part of a large chain of drug stores, and I do miss the old Longs Drugs. Now, the arrangement of goods is confusing and if something is on sale, you need to hunt down the end cap or kiosk where its been relocated because it won't be found on the shelf where it ordinarily belongs. The selection of goods at Longs remains adequate, if a lot less interesting than in old days. And the biggest irony of the post-merger Longs is that their name has become synonymous with their receipts, which are LONG and if they don't reach the floor with coupons and ads, then it only means it got torn off the register too soon! read more

I was at longs yesterday, 3/26/2018. There was a customer ahead of me in line. This man was buying beer and a couple of other things. He kept entering his phone number wrong and when the cashier repeatedly tried to help him he lashed out at her. He was so rude, and made comments toward her like how much coffee did YOU HAVE TODAY" as if to say her cheerfulness was over the top. Let me tell you...deseree handled that man like a champ. I was very upset with man but deseree kept her smile and continued to help him as if unaffected. I was next in line and congratated her on her excellent customer service! Worst customer service I have experienced in quite a while. Refused to refill my prescription for no other reason than the dumb pharmacist didn't understand the instructions. My physician discussed the instructions with me and I understand them. Now, this third party person has the power to withhold needed medication? He is not a part of this equation. Every time I come here I spend around 15- 20 minutes waiting in line. I've been here a handful of times and it seems like the cashiers can't get any faster or something. I went there yesterday and only had 2 people in front of me and I was still stuck in line forever. Do they get paid by how long they keep us in line or something? I dunno if this is the right Long's Drugs to review because I don't live in Hawaii. My bf lives in Kaneohe and we went to a Longs together so this might be the one. Regardless, holy moly snack isle. We went here to prepare for our camping trip and I think we spent a good 30 minutes in one isle just like marveling at all the different snacks. Literally. Being half, I'm pretty familiar with arare and sembei and stuff like that, but not with li hing! When he came to visit me in Japan he brought me gummi's from hawaii one time(I LOVE GUMMIS) but they weren't ordinary ones, they had this powder on them. I never tried it. He told me they put li hing on everything in Hawaii. This snack isle in longs proved that to be true. I was amazed. I got a bunch of li hing gummi candies and he got ika and some arare and called it a day. They had a 3 or 5 snack deal so that was swuhweet. I only bought stuff for our camping trip and wanted to revisit longs to get my friends omiyage for bringing back home. DIdn't ever make it back though. Sad day. read more
