Usually customer service is excellent. Not so much today. Please update your appointment system, Walgreens. We sat waiting for 20 minutes before tech told us they were out of flu shots despite Walgreen's confirmation of our appointment the day before AND 6 am the morning of appointment. The pharmacy tech said they'd called to let us know, before our appointment, they were out of shots but they only left a message at 9:09 am when we were told to be there my 9:15 am! Wasted time for everyone. Recommend Walgreens confirm they have the number of shots required to fill the next day appointments and notify customers of cancellations due to lack of stock the evening before the appointment. Yesterday afternoon (during business hours) we made a flu shot appointment online for 9:30 am today. The Walgreens appointment system confirmed yesterday and emailed a reminder again this morning. The system instructed us to arrive 15 minutes early so we left the house at 9:05 to ensure we'd get there in time/not inconvenience the pharmacy techs by arriving late, etc. Silly us! We arrived a little before 9:15, checked in with the scan code and sat down as instructed by the sign. It also instructed us to let them know if we were still waiting 15 minutes after our appointment. There was no one available behind the counter when we arrived but two people were visible behind the counter after a bit, assisting others. They could see us sitting in the chairs. Another person sitting in the chairs was assisted by the person behind the counter/picked up a prescription. Two couples came in and spoke with the tech - at least one of the couples asked about flu shots and were told no more were available today. Again, we were clearly visible sitting in the chairs as instructed... Because we had an appointment, we'd checked in, and they could see us sitting in the chairs, we didn't think anything of it. I figured they'd just booked all of the 4 or so appointments left when we signed up yesterday. At about 9:35, the tech looked over at us and asked our last name and if we were there for a flu shot. She then told us they didn't have anymore vaccines and that she'd called us this morning to let us know. I was confused because I had been home all morning with my phone and did not receive a phone call before we left the house at 9:05 to ensure arrived by 9:15. I'd left my phone at home when we went for the shot so I couldn't confirm when I was in Walgreens that I'd gotten the call. When I finally returned home almost two hours later, after making an appointment and traveling to the Kaneohe Walgreens for the first appt available at 1040, I saw that the Kailua Walgreens had left a message at 9:09 am that they were out of flu shots! Not much notice given we were instructed to be there at 9:15 for a 9:30 appointment. Not sure why Walgreens doesn't confirm the number of flu shots and appointments the evening prior to appointments Six minutes before show time is not acceptable. Kaneohe Walgreens was excellent. Efficient and easy. No scan code - great customer service. A human acknowledged us immediately and checked us in / confirmed they had the vaccines. I came in tonight trying to do a coupon deal and for whatever reason my coupons weren't coming off of my purchase. Mari was helping me and as always she was so sweet and accommodating. She's always so enthusiastic and makes something as mundane as shopping at the drugstore truly enjoyable. I didn't need to ask and Mari called her manager up (and I am so sorry I didn't catch your name. But I know your hair is bleached!) to help with my transaction. Her manager was also extremely accommodating and we figured out an easy solution to our problem. I've dealt with so many Walgreens locations where I'm not treated with anywhere near as much kindness. I always try to be as polite as possible (I really hope it comes off that way) and I have been known to stand my ground when cashiers and store managers are rude to me. I went in looking for pink-eye drops. A female associate came up and asked me if I needed help. After I told her what I was looking for she proceeded to tell me I wouldn't be able to find pink-eye drops because the "USDA recalled them". First of all, the United States Department of Agriculture doesn't regulate eye drops. That's the FDA, and they only recalled artificial tears of a very specific brand. Not to mention, I found pink eye drops at the target down the road afterward. Please let your employees know they shouldn't say crazy stuff to customers! read more

So they keep on talking to the customers. Which we don't understand what they are saying. LoL Furthermore they are in a closed window and cannot spread Virus from the cash drawers. Every month when I refill my meds, there's some kind of BS that happends to where they can't refill because "waiting for approval " or "we didn't get the order to refill" or like today they said after I've been waiting for a refill for 8 GD days! They said today that " something is wrong with our system and it won't let us refill" This is so frustrating, im beyond pissed at this point. They had me on hold for 30mins than hung up on me. I can't believe how they fail time and time again. Every month they pull the same shit, "its to early for refill" mind you my script is a 8 day supply, and I wait and use my 8 day supply over the course of 30 days, and they still give me problems!!! I was never a fan of Walgreens to begin with, the mark up is ridiculous and the inventory is a bit weird.. they carry the most random brands. BUT, the Employees are wonderful. I've probably come in a hand full of times since they've been open in Kailua and it was because I was desperate. I know this all seems contradicting but hear me out.. first visit I came in for my Passport photo..waited 20 mins? ringing the annoying bell.. this very pleasant Associate finally came by and apologized and helped me promptly, I left super happy. Recently I've stopped by twice in the last month for Disinfectant.. this is after visiting: Target, Walmart, Longs, etc.. I walked in just over it that i can't sniff out the last hand sanitizer left on this island.. I'm just standing there in the aisle and one of the workers who is stocking just starts talking to me, I think she could sense my frustration and went through whatever boxes she was unpacking (at least 10) and found me HAND SANITIZER!! who does that?! I've worked retail and even I didn't go that far outta my way (shame on me I know). I was so thankful.. like I wanted to hug her but Social Distancing and all. I really wish I got her name. She's helped me before and she just always has great energy. Local lady, always smiley. Cashier was friendly too. The store is smaller than the CVS/Long's over at the shopping plaza. Buuuut the positive they have private parking. Kinda humbug to get in to the parking lot though, but not too horrible. You do have the street as well. You get into the store - and yeah not gonna lie - it's tight, definitely not a place to be bringing a side by side stroller. Very clean though. "Reasonable" prices. Ya just really have to pay attention to the ads, and price compare for the things you need to buy! I know milk can be a good deal here at times, and some of the beer. Photo service is fast and easy! The man who answered the phone was the absolute rudest person. I called to let them know that I received a text message that my online order was picked up even though I had not picked it up yet, and instead of explaining how it was an automated message sent after 15 minutes, he was extremely rude saying that my order is being canceled since I wasn't outside by the time the message sent. I felt that I asked for a very simple request that is offered BY Walgreens and he made it difficult and has now effected my plans for the day. For the Pharmacy-I feel like this isn't a chain pharmacy. It feels like a small business type of pharmacy in a good way. The staff is always helpful, friendly and they are alot faster than the other corporate stores. I really appreciate it because there aren't a lot of choices in this area for pharmacies and I always prefer a locally owned business but there aren't any. They make it feel that way. This is the WORST location for prescriptions. I have now had three encounters with the pharmacist and pharmacist technician which have left me irate because of dealing with such rudeness. The technician all but hung up on me in the drive thru when my prescription was not on file even though I had just come from the doctors office, and walked out of sight after rudely telling me I couldn't wait in the drive thru line when there were cars behind me (there were none). Another time I went to pick up a prescription only to find the office closed an hour early due to a holiday even though I arrived at 5:01 and the normal closing time was 6:00. There was no warning it would be closed. And although I was ONE minute late, the front desk told me the pharmacist left "awhile ago". Even worse, I was preparing for major abdominal surgery on a Tuesday and had an appt the Friday before where I discussed with my doctor I was worried about surgery since I had a major cough at the time that had lasted already for two weeks. She assured me she would prescribe me a long acting inhaler and it would likely be gone by Tuesday. I went that day to get the prescription picked up only to be told they didn't carry my medicine and it wouldn't be in until Monday. I asked the technician if they could call the doctor to have something similar prescribed so I could hopefully have SOME relief from this horrible cough I had been dealing with for two weeks, so that by the time I had a c section I could recover and care for a newborn without ripping my stitches open from a cough. He assured me he would talk to the pharmacist. The pharmacist called later to tell me "nothing" was covered by my insurance. I said, "what do you mean nothing, I can't even get like an albuterol?" I threw out the name of a short acting inhaler I had previously used for asthma as a child. He told me "your prescription is for advair and not albuterol" cue the hardest eye roll ever. And me saying that I was well aware but I thought he was going to call the doctor to ask for an alternative that they had in stock. That's his job. To say "hey doctor, we don't have this in stock, I understand she needs it soon, can we substitute X--it acts similarly" He said, "oh ok" as if he wasn't aware he was supposed to do that, and hung up. Later on I received a prescription for albuterol. But then found out a few days later that they DO carry advair in stock, just not the advair hfa like I was prescribed, but the advair diskus. So instead of asking the doctor for an alternate long acting inhaler that WAS in stock, the pharmacist just called to ask for an albuterol for me because I suppose that was what I had thrown out to him on the phone, instead of actually doing his job and suggesting an alternative medicine that worked the same in the body. Long story short: do not come here. The staff is rude and I'm not sure the pharmacist understands how to actually do his job. read more

Rx ready in 30 minutes? no way...3 HOURS later they don't have it; next day they have no info on me--so I have to go back in -in person and I'm high risk covid--w/insurance info even though they filled Rx in the past...and when I asked how much my Rx would COST me, she LAUGHED in my face? WTF? I had an RX that cost $174.00 and could not afford to pick it up. I needed to know if I'd WASTE a trip there AGAIN if this Rx was equally expensive! She could only say the cost w/o insurance and acted as if my request was a bother. When I finally made it back in, they had no record in my insurance--even though I kept telling them they were looking it up wrong--the insurance has 3 types and they looked up the wrong one. Took forever,.The guy was OK; the girl was rude. SHAMEFUL customer service. THEN? They fill it only PARTIALLY--requiring THREE more pick ups and EACH TIME I PAY MY CO-PAY. TOTAL RIP OFF. They gave me only 5 days worth x2 when the Rx was for #150!!! SCAMMERS!!! I will never EVER go there again. Next time? GO TO LONGS! I went into this Walgreens at about 7 PM to get photos printed. The ETA of the printed pics was about 1.5 hours- a long time, but okay. They told me they'd call me when they were done, so I went home. At 9:30, after not receiving the promised call, I called back to check on them. The machines were having "technical difficulties" but my photos should be done about an hour after this. An hour goes by, and it's now 10:30. Still no call. The next day, I go in to pick them up and the photos are BLURRY. I could have printed them better myself. I've always had pretty good experience with Walgreens but this was ridiculous. read more

Not the best attitude when I first came in to be put on the waiting list (required of me in person despite them having the prescription from my Doctor) and when I got called back in for the vaccine the computer said it was policy that I was too young despite my doctor writing the prescription and knowing I am a high risk patient in need of this vaccine...zero help. Conrad made zero offer to do anything at all. Told me to find another pharmacy, which I will definitely do and they will receive zero business from me and my family going forward. read more

It is right across the street from my office so it is more a matter of convenience than anything else. It is not totally bad for a smallish Walgreens. I'm used to much bigger stores in the mainland; however, the staff here is friendly and pretty helpful. They take you to find the things you ask for not just point to a space in the air like many stores in town. The prices are fair to good but when you catch things on sale here wow great deals. Actually a little cheaper than Longs but not quite Target. I friggin' despise Wal-Mart and they slave-labor policies so I won't go there. If you are in the Kailua area give it a check-see read more

I needed to grab dry shampoo and someone had told me that Walgreens Kailua carried it. (That's what happens when you're a color-head like me.) So off I go at 10 pm at night. Walgreens is located on the corner of Oneawa Street and Ulunui. They have a small parking lot and there are metered stalls on the street. They are open 24 hours. We walked in and located the dry shampoo easily. The aisles are clearly labeled. The store is also very bright. As I was comparing two brands of dry shampoo, I was greeted by a clerk. She told me that she could ring me up at the cosmetics counter when ready. After grabbing my shampoo, I took a quick look at the school supplies. There was a BOGO 1/2 off sale, so I grabbed a few Sharpies (new colors). I, also saw some hair clips that were BOGO 1/2, so got some, too. As promised, the clerk rang me up at the cosmetics' counter. As I was about to pay, I noticed that the hair clips didn't ring up at BOGO 1/2. I pointed it out to the clerk. She spent about 5 minutes trying to figure out how to do it and what 1/2 of $3.99 was. She apologized by saying that Walgreens didn't give the clerks calculators. Eventually, I did pay, but when I looked at my receipt, she punched in $1.75 as half of $3.99. Sigh... I was done, so I didn't even go back in. Next time, i will just go a little further down the road to Longs and pick up my dry shampoo. (2) read more

Hire a parking lot attendant instead of randomly picking a car to tow. The store manager was rude and shouldn't have blamed their own pharmacy for supposedly calling the tow truck on my vehicle. We are frequent shoppers & spend a minimum time of 1-2 hours every time we shop & we never ever hear anyone announce if a certain vehicle belonged to someone in the store. If you're trying to make your money that way, then you're definitely doing it wrong. There were more than just my car parked there & were at Zippy's. You know that you'd bank off your tows because you probably get a portion of it. You know where they take the cars & the distance will cost a lot for the owner of the vehicle. If you're going to tow 1 car for parking illegally, tow all of them. I can guarantee you didn't go through the parking lot & write down every single license plate, announce them on the intercom & ask if anyone in the store belonged to each of those vehicles. You have a contract with APM, I get it. But make sure the rep chooses her words correctly. She told me that my car was the easiest car to take off that lot so that's why they took it. How would you feel if your car got towed & when you went to pick it up, they told you that? It's just like saying, "Hey we towed your car because today is National Tow-A-Chevy-from-Walgreens Day". How did you know that we weren't going to come to Walgreens after dinner? Zippy's closes at 10pm now, your store is 24 hours. You'd probably do the same, eat first then stop by the store after. It's common sense. If you know majority of the people who park in your stalls are at Zippy's, why not enforce the security of your parking lot? I was there for quite some time making phone calls & trying to figure out how the hell I was going to get to Kalaeloa from Kailua & find $355, & seen 4-5 more cars park in your parking lot and then go over to Zippy's. Do something next time, maybe secure your lot & the only way to exit is with a minimum $ purchase from your store. I don't know, just provide better parking management. I'd honestly hate to see/hear other people getting towed 'just because'. As for me, it was because my car was the most easiest to get on a dolly & go. read more

This review is mainly for the Pharmacy and Photo Depts. @ Walgreen's. I used to get all my prescriptions @ Longs Drugs - but when a new Walgreens (on Oneawa St) opened up, I switched. They have drive-thru and they are not nearly as crowded as Longs is. The pharmacists and cashiers who work in the back are friendly - more so than one certain person @ Longs, too - she knows who she is. The local (actually mainland) drug stores have basically been tasked with taking up the slack from now-defunct Daiei in Kailua - and while Longs has the more 'local' faire - Walgreen's is my choice for prescription drugs. They also have a good 'rewards' program. I saved a BUNCH when I had to buy a back brace. As a store, Walgreen's is less crowded in the store, but not as well-thought out, cashier-wise. I love their photo department, though. They rock big time! Not happy with the software changes on their website that keeps me from ordering certain things, but otherwise, they're hand's down the best thing Kailua has for 'instant printing' options. Good coupon deals on their website, too. I'll review Longs on a store basis; Longs Pharmacy Dept. gets a '2' from me, and I've never used their photo services. read more

This is the first time I have ever experienced discrimination in my life based on my medical condition. The pharmacist Nelson was very incorporating and impolite in helping me fill my prescription after 2 visits. His best advice was to find a different pharmacy or medication.
