giving fantastic flavor in every bite. This bento also comes with a variety of other dishes. Firstly egg & tomato, this one thickened with a cornstarch slurry, with tangy tomatoes mixed in and sheets of egg on top. It's sweet, thick, and savory. There's perfectly tender rice with stewed minced pork belly on top, with the juices dripping down to flavor the rice. There's cabbage that's super flavorful with tons of garlic mixed in. Finally, there's a small portion of corn kernels that are pretty generic as if they came out from a can, but good. Overall I was very impressed with this biandang. (5/5) Oolong Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, 50% Ice w/ Boba ($5.70) - The tea is somewhat fragrant - you can tell it's an oolong, but it's a bit more heavy towards the creamer. Sweetness is fine at 50% maybe a bit too much for people who want "not too sweet" but not overpowering. They give a bit more boba than other places so you can enjoy the pearls until the very last sip. The boba is nice with a good chew. It's just a bit firmer than perfect and they are a bit inconsistent in size. Milk Tea Rating: 4/5 Boba Rating: 4/5 I went back the next week to get another drink Black Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, 50% Ice w/ Boba ($5.70) - The tea taste comes out way more in this drink vs. the oolong. It's very interesting, not very fragrant and without much nuance. The best term I can use to describe the tea is "hollow". It reminds me of Gold Peak, kind of that industrial tea taste, but better. I honestly don't mind it at all in this drink, since it pairs very well with the creamer and sweetness level. The boba this time around is pretty much on the dot, smooth round pearls almost perfectly chewy throughout. Looking For Chai Taiwanese Kitchen is a solid Taiwanese restaurant. I would visit again for both the food and the boba. Food Rating is a 4.5/5 Boba Rating is a 4/5 Final rating of 5/5 is reflective of the food only, rounded up. I've gone back a couple more times for drinks (it's the most convenient boba to get after shopping at Ranch) and I can say that they are very consistent with drink quality. . Granted you have to have some tolerance for fermented and funky foods (e.g. fish sauce, shrimp paste, kimchi). Portion is also really hefty. I've never finished a hot pot yet. But if you're super hungry, it'll fill you up good. I've seen some families splitting a hot pot along with other dishes. The service is up to standard and they also have bubble tea (Yi Fang) if you're wanting to end your meal with something sweet. Overall the ambiance is a family vibe and a place I hope to continue frequenting for decent Taiwanese food.

Great spot, and a nice hidden gem for Taiwanese food! This is not what I would have expected to find in a suburb of Seattle, but it was delicious, and I'm glad we went there for dinner. The restaurant was nice and quiet (especially for an Asian restaurant), which made it great to catch up with friends. Service was nice as well - not too overbearing, but enough so that we weren't left without anything we needed (including constantly filled water glasses). Most importantly, the food was delicious! Looking for Chai Taiwanese Kitchen is tucked in an unassuming corner from 99 Ranch. It came to my attention after a very convincing IG reel from Chaucakes, where it was duly bookmarked. Perfect timing to give it a try via a TGTG double pickup on 3/15/26. It was very rainy Sunday night arriving before closing. We were handed two well packed bags and headed home. What a terrific way to test out the bevs and goods beforehand. The generous TGTG haul including the following: two fruit teas, two milk teas, and two rice bowls. We divvied up the proteins and ended up with very satisfying late night meals. Both had steamed rice topped with succulent chicken wings, well spiced popcorn chicken, bamboo shoots, and flavorful braised cabbage. Definitely we look forward to checking out other menu items and dining onsite in the future. The restaurant shares a large parking lot and accessible via Community Transit. Recommended spot along Hwy 99 in Edmonds!

Wanted to give this place another try. This time I ordered popcorn chicken with medium spice. For $10, the quantity is not a lot. The chicken was decent, it wasn't as crispy as I'd hope but the chicken was pretty moist. We arrived around 1:30 pm on a Tuesday. We ordered the winter special lamb hotpot, which came with so many ingredients that I had to move some off the top to get to the lamb and other items at the bottom. I also enjoyed the oyster pancake and longan-jujube tea. My mom mentioned that the oyster pancake had a bit too much cornstarch though. Overall, the staff was friendly and efficient, and the restaurant was spacious and quiet. Parking was easy, as there's a parking lot for the Ranch 99 Plaza.

One of the rare places that serves stinky tofu if you like it. This chain is amazing for Taiwanese food and they actually have pretty decent tea as well. There's plenty of parking as it shares its lot with the 99 ranch grocery store nearby and the service is really quick. We actually came the other day and I did not know the English name for what I wanted and could not read the Chinese menu and they were nice enough to replace the item when I ordered the wrong thing. Really appreciate this small business and can't wait for the next time I come back

I was shopping for groceries nearby and decided to stop by Looking For Chai Taiwanese Kitchen for lunch. For some reason the main sign outside says YiFang Fruit Tea and Looking for Chai is only displayed on the windows. Kind of strange. Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup ($15.95) - I hesitated to order this dish since other reviews state that the noodles are overcooked and too soft. I'm glad to report that this isn't the case, at least during my visit. The noodles are pretty much perfectly cooked with still a bit of a bite to them. They are topped with a generous portion of stewed beef. Most pieces are soft and tender, with great flavor, but a couple of pieces, especially the tendon, are still very tough and hard to chew. I'm not sure what vegetable they include in the noodles - it reminds me of (and possibly is) A-choy, giving a taste and texture very similar to lettuce, although a bit stemmier. Everything is in a broth that exhibits a fantastic beefy tomato and veggie flavor. While it's not the perfect Taiwanese beef noodle soup, it's pretty dang good. (4/5) Deep Fried Pork Chop Bento ($15.50) - Fantastic fried pork chop. It's moist, juicy and tender, crisp on the outside, with a generous dusting of five spice and white pepper, giving fantastic flavor in every bite. I'm a smidge confused by the signage at this restaurant, which I've always thought was Yi Fang Tea. However, I just learned learned that it's also a Taiwanese restaurant and that Yi Fang is no more. My family and I stopped by for dinner recently. It's always a little overwhelming to order from a new to us restaurant, as well as ordering from a menu that we're unfamiliar with. But we pulled it together like we do and ordered the honey chicken wings, dry noodle with pork sauce, two bento boxes: braised pork belly and popcorn chicken. My daughter likened the chicken wings to the salt & pepper chicken wings we enjoy at Fortune Garden in CID. The noodle dish was flavorful. I like that they have 3 rice options to choose from: Spiced pork rice (not spicy at all), chicken rice and steamed rice. Everything was good! Now that we know this place exists in Edmonds, we will be back!

Firstly, FYI that there are two Looking for Chai and they are owned by different folks. This location specifically added Taiwanese Kitchen to its name to differentiate. Amongst Taiwanese groups, they say this is the more legit location. Also, they eliminated(?) YiFang Fruit Tea. They do sell drinks but not under the franchise. Outside, the YiFang sign still hangs, but no Looking For Chai sign, to confuse or attract would-be diners or tea drinkers. Anyway, we wander in at normal dinner time and sat shortly after. No wait except the time to set up the table. Service is a step above what I call efficient-swift. I asked several questions, and he slowed down to answer. The décor is basic or utilitarian. They are around the corner from the very large Ranch 99 complex, so parking is plentiful. This visit is from March this year. The Food: 刈包 Taiwanese Pork Burger (2 Pcs), $10.95 - 5 Stars This pair is very meaty and filling. For the lighter appetite, this is easily a meal. There is a good mixture of protein and pickled veggies, very classically done. 炸臭豆腐 Taiwanese Stinky Tofu, $12.95 - 3 Stars This is a love it or hate it for many. For the connoisseur, the stinkier, the better. Alas, not stinky enough. The stink comes from the fermentation, which takes time, most places couldn't be bothered and/or doesn't want to scare the adjacent dinners (legit reason). Anyway, this is fried tofu with a light fermentation, and an excellent dollop of pickled veggies, which was the saving grace of this plate. 椒麻脆皮雞 Crispy Chicken with Special Spicy Sauce, $14.50 - 5 Stars This isn't just popcorn chicken. This is crispy fried chicken with a bang-up savory, delicious, spicy sauce. The waiter said this is amongst their most popular dish. Yum! 鐵板牛排 Sizzling Steak (combo sauce), $18.95 - 4 Stars A steak that is not overcooked in a Chinese restaurant. Priceless. The sauce is a combo mushroom and black pepper. It's a healthy appetite dish. The steak is a bit fatty, though. 綜合莓果冰沙 Mixed Berry Smoothies, $6.80 - 3.5 Stars After I had a sip, I felt silly ordering it. It is basically frozen berries and blended, which I make at home, too. But I wanted it in the dead of winter for some crazy reason!

Was there around 4:30 on a Thursday afternoon. Not busy at all so service was quick and friendly. Had stinky tofu and sizzling steak platter. Both were very good. Stinkin tofu had great taste as did the preserved veggies that came with it. The sizzling steak platter def reminded me of Taiwan. It's too bad I'm only in town on business or else I'd be a regular here!

For the most part, the food is still really great, but the one time I DoorDashed a meal, they forgot one order of popcorn chicken and I had to call them to cancel it from my bill. My go-to's are always the beef noodle soup, popcorn chicken and really any of the bentos. I recently tried the fried chicken on the grill with noodles, vegetables, and an egg - that was very tasty but too heavy. Overall, I think you get your bang for your buck here, large portions and decent pricing!

Why you dinner walking into the place didn't seem very clean and looking in every direction appeared to be a disaster. Ordered stir fry with pork and it didn't have any pork and hardly any vegetable. It was just a stack of noodles. No flavor. The Ambiance of the place was terrible because everything was in disarray as they stack all of their supplies among the dining guests. There too many better options than to visit this establishment again.

Came in on a Sunday around 3 or 4. We were promptly seated. We ordered pig ears, braised pork over rice and a small hot pot (Forgot which one) and some drinks. The pig ears were nice and gelatinous. It had sesame oil and probably chili oil which made it slightly spicy. The braised pork could have easily melted in my mouth, it was super tender. The sauce from the braised pork made the rice below it even better. I hate eating plain white rice. The mini hot pot had a really good soup base; very flavorful. The drinks actually took longer come out than the food but honestly when you're hungry that's what you want to happen anyways. I believe I got the milk tea with grass jelly. This review is currently only for the milk tea (specifically the chocolate chip milk tea)! So I've been meaning to come here to test out the drinks since the first time I saw someone with the drinks, which are so cute btw because they look like little plants! I found the milk tea to be surprisingly quite good, with the perfect amount of sweetness and flavor. The cup itself at first looked a little on the small side, but after sitting with it for a little bit, it turned out to be just the perfect size. Besides the drink, the ambience of the restaurant is great, I love the white and black decor and the service was great, everyone who helped us was very kind. I will probably be back sometime to try a different milk tea and their food. Will re-review then as well. read more

Was so excited to finally be able to come here ! I had the mini beef hot pot and it was just ok for the price.... In my opinion boiling points soup is much better. The pork bun was reeeeeally good and very flavorful and also cheap -- 2 for $4.95 My favourite thing was the cookie milk tea ~ I usually prefer more fruity teas but this was super tasty and not too sweet or salty (?) as other reviews had mentioned . The service and location were both good and the place is actually pretty roomy. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend ! read more

I absolutely love their cookie milk tea drink!! It's probably the only reason why I come here and I got my friends hooked on it too. It's a milk tea with a layer of creamer, cookie crumb/powder and a mint leaf to top it off. So adorable! It almost looks like a plant and you can order it hot or cold. Make sure to ask for boba/tapioca because they won't add it if you don't ask. The wait just for a drink sometimes is a bit long, but worth it. I haven't tried much of their food here. Looking for chai?! Keep looking. This place slightly misses the mark on flavor. We ordered popcorn chicken (kinda bland), spicy pork on rice (also bland), pork burger, Taiwanese hot pot, Hokkaido milk tea & Cookie milk tea. I'm not sure how many Taiwanese options are in the North end, but if you're in the Seattle and Bellevue areas don't waste the trip. I prefer the pork burger and popcorn chicken at Facing East & Hard Wok. My boyfriend prefers the hot pot at Boiling Point. And I think the Hokkaido milk tea is better at ShareTea. I give a three star because it didn't WOW me. I've had better at other places, but it wasn't terrible so I could go back. I just wouldn't seek it out. I will say that service is better here than at Boiling Point, Facing East or Hard Wok for sure. Also, the cookie milk tea is definitely unique! It was super cute. Found and came to this place because of the popular plant bubble tea drink. Ended up ordering and eating too much great food that I was too full to get the bubble tea! Ordered two cold small dishes, the seaweed salad and the cucumbers. Both were pre made and not fresh. Would not recommend it. The Tainan noodles were okay but nothing special. My favorite dishes and the dishes that made my meal was the crispy chicken with lemon sauce and the minced pork with chives. The chicken sauce was a perfect blend of sour, sweet and spicy and the minced pork with chives was really spicy but delicious! Overall a great Taiwanese food place! I used to be obsessed with the food here (popcorn chicken and chicken wings especially oh my goodness), but the owner changed the chef, which then changed the menu and increased the price. Since then, I haven't craved the food here as much. However, I am still giving this place 4 stars because they have the highest quality boba in all of the north end of town, in my opinion. Even with regular sweetness, you can still taste the tea and all of the drinks are so smooth. The tapioca also stays chewy and fresh! My go-to is the hokkaido milk tea with boba. This place is always my go to for my bubble tea cravings! read more

3.5 stars. I love the service here... But the food wasn't worth the drive from Seattle to Lynnwood. I think that cookie milk tea drink is hype because it's pretty watered-down and tapiocas are very very chewy! We ordered the spicy chicken which was good. And the beef satay hot pot was tasteless, not much meat too much cabbage (not for for 2 but it was okay...) Went here couple times before and couldn't resist to come back for their crispy chicken and bubble tea! The crispy chicken are well-seasoned and tender. It also comes with meal option (rice and side dishes of corn kernel + eggs and tomato) I've tried some of their drinks but chocolate cookie milk tea never fails me. The top layer of the drink is covered with cream and cookie dust garnished with some sort of leaves resembling a plant in a pot. The pretty appearance also says a lot about the taste. It's creamy, smooth, and not overly sweet! Based on my experience here, the staffs are very friendly and willing to help you with answering questions about the food/drink. read more

I had a higher expectation before going to this restaurant. The service was poor - the male server spoke broken English and his mandarin was one of the worst I've ever heard. The food was bland and it wasn't up to my standard. The milk tea I ordered was cookies milk tea - it was super sweet like drinking a sugar water without any tea flavor. About four years ago around new year, they noticed customer that they will take Tuesday of, after that, the taste of food is changed, and the fried pork chop is changed. Couple years ago, they changed the over rice dishes with different ways of eggs and added different vegetables, but I missed the flavor before. The food taste similar but a little bit different. Probably because the chef is changed, I feel like something is missing. Tip, always make sure if they get the dish correct if you have different tastes such as spicy or any allergy. I have several experience that I ordered with from a third party platform and add notes about what I cannot eat, they didn't pay attention to what I say. My first time at Looking for Chai I went on a limb and ordered Milk with Pumpkin hot pot... best decision ever :) Very tasteful and soothing on a cold day. but I really went for the cookie milk tea. super surpised that it was actually an Earl Grey luckily earl grey is my favorite. I was excited to eat here after reviewing the pictures of the food and the great reviews. It unfortunately didn't leave to my expectations. The service is good though, but the food is not special. We had the hotpot Taiwanese style, popcorn chicken, and fried pork chop. There were just just alright. The soup at boiling point is more superb, whole the popcorn chicken and fried pork chop aren't something that you cannot re-create at home. I gave it a 3-star reviews because the good table service compensates the lack of creativity in their food. read more

It's traditional Taiwanese food, however I don't think the food tasty enough. I feel disappointed on two food: "pork blood and intestine sauté" and "three spiced chicken". The "pork blood and intestine sauté" contains only 7 pcs intestine m(yes I did count) and the blood is very easy to get broken, and the sauce is so so. I feel more disappointed on the "three spiced chicken", it's not cooked dry enough, if you compare with "facing east"(another Taiwanese restaurant in Bellevue), I'll say is only half level. Well, the "Sakura shrimp fried rice" is good, the "sliced beef sautéed with scallops" is OK. Milk tea is on average level. So overall I ordered 5 kind of food and two of them are disappointed, so I put 3 Star here. read more

Stopped here for a snack break. I've been here for dinner once and had a great experience. This time, I got 2 hot milk teas (with no toppings) and one popcorn chicken. Total was $16! Price is definitely a little steep compared with Chinatown. However, the milk tea was good - strong tea flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. They used Ceylon tea, which the Cantonese in me applauded to. The chicken was decent - good seasoning and lightly battered. Unfortunately, they used white meat so it was not as tender as other places (I still like Hardwok Cafe or Oasis in Chinatown better). Overall, this place is good for when I need my milk tea and Taiwanese food fix but be prepared to pay a premium for it. read more

This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem. Since I never tried this place, I ordered a lot of items off the menu which included the famous chocolate chip milk tea, beef noodle soup, Taiwanese style oyster omelette, beef satay hotpot, spiced pork over rice, and the beef wrap. Overall everything I've listed was really good. Nothing on there tasted bad. The portions were share-able with 2-3 people and their service was quick! I must say this place has an amazing pork burger. It did not have a thick layer of fat unlike other places where it was just a cut of pork fat which was disgusting. It had a good amount of actual meat in there with a mixture of salted cabbage, giving it a good balance. Also, their famous cookie milk tea was interesting. it had an interesting texture with the cookie crumbs that I wouldn't expect in my milk tea. I would recommend to try but it wouldn't be a normal type of milk tea that I would get. Definitely a fan of this place and if i'm ever in the neighborhood, I would stop by. read more

My new favorite restaurant! I love getting the minced pork with rice, oyster pancake, pickled cucumber, popcorn shrimp, and chicken pumpkin hot pot! Everything is very well made, presented nicely, and has a good flavor. And milk tea is so well made here with perfect amount of flavor. I come here every week because it is closed to my house and also I love their Chocolate Cookie Milk Tea. Pros: - most of the staffs are nice, friendly. - drinks are good and reasonable price. I had tried there Chocolate Cookie Milk Tea which looks so cute and the Hokkaido Milk Tea. Both of them are really good. - Plenty of parking since it is in the same area with 99 Ranch Market. Cons: - Food are mediocre. Nothing is really special. I ordered the Taiwanese Pork Burger and C4. Pork Burger is just fine, but I prefer this from Hard Wok Cafe (and another place that I cant remember the name). The name for C4 is really fancy: "slice lamb sauteed with Taiwanese Satay Sauce so I was disappointed when I saw the real dish (in the picture). The portion is small (with $12.95 I expected something larger) and it doesn't come with rice, if you want to order rice it will be extra $1.50. - You have to wait during lunch or dinner time because the seats are a little bit limited. Overall, I will just comeback for their drinks . Don't forget to get the stamp too! If you buy 7 drinks, the 8th one will be free :D read more

The pictures for this place really got my partner and I very excited. We were particularly excited for the pork buns but they honestly weren't that good . I was really rooting for this place. I've had a couple of bento boxes here and tried their hot pot a number of times as well as their drinks and overall their food is pretty good. I am from the Bay Area where Taiwanese food is a block away so I can't say this place is super great but it is still fine. The popcorn chicken is just okay. I am used to having a bunch of Thai holy basil, fresh garlic, and a nice amount of seasoning in Taiwanese popcorn chicken as they serve it in places in California but this one just lacks that. It's not that bad though. I usually order the Taiwanese spicy hot pot and that is my favorite dish on the menu. I can really taste the spices and it is neither bland nor salty. I also am a fan of their grass jelly drinks. The dish I don't recommend is the Hainanese chicken rice. It definitely needs work. The rice should be real chicken rice with broth and aromatics. The chicken itself was mediocre. Not tender and not enough flavor. Overall if you are looking for Taiwanese food in the area there really isn't much so this place will do. The staff are also friendly. read more

I bought your food online with grub hub, You drink option didn't have no ice option, so I didn't select ice level at all, why end up having my drink filled up with ice? As good as it gets!... definitely in the north end. I started off not liking this place, but it's grown on me. Their food is consistently delicious and the prices are not too expensive. I'm consistently fat and happy when I leave. That's a good thing because my wife always wants to go back. It's my second favorite Taiwanese place in the Seattle area. Facing East and their tax cheating ways is still number one. But I live in Seattle, floating bridges means traffic or tolls. I dislike both. More reasons to go to Looking for Chai. read more

One of my fav taiwanese food spot! Great food and awesome bubble tea/ milk tea selection. Took off one star because I recently went there and was told they got rid of many dishes due to the expansion of a new location in bellevue (where they serve full menu). The edmonds location only has a few meal items and the hot pots, many stir fry dishes are not being served. read more

Menu pictured might not be updated. New menu is condensed and they don't serve stir fry items anymore. They didn't even have the Taiwanese burger that I wanted to order :( Items on the chalkboard sometimes is available weekends only. Wish they would bring back the original menu. read more

This used to be my must go restaurant twice a month. I m sorry i have never left a good review for you but i want his to remind everyone that there is a big change in the restaurant. Most dishes are gone now, recipe changed for the famous Taiwanese Beef noodle soup. The staff said the menu changed 2 months ago and now it is narrowed down to one page. I am not sure if the Bellevue location is affected but i dont think i will be coming back again : ( i miss their food. read more

This place offers a variety of Taiwanese appetizers, soup, hotspot, main dishes and bubble teas. It is always pretty busy, but the service is good. THIS PLACE IS SO AFFORDABLE. You can do personal dish, family style or hot pot here. I don't think their hot pot is better than most hot pot specialties. I love their braised pork, chicken and cookie & cream bubble tea. They also offer special of the day that you can choose from. Parking is not a problem since the restaurant is part of a shopping plaza. I wish I had access to this restaurant back in college. read more

After our broths boiled for a few minutes staff offered to snuff our flames. The ingredients soaked up most of the broth, although the blood was over cooked the fish cake, vermicelli, and mushrooms were good. Best part was the lemon qq jelly at the end, not too sweet with a little sour note and basil seeds.

There is plenty on the menu beyond sushi but we admit to coming here for one reason only so I can't speak to much else (although the green salad is very nice, as is dessert.) Plenty of wine, cocktail and sake options. I remember the many years we didn't have a sushi restaurant in downtown Edmonds so I never take an evening here for granted. I had passed this several times driving along 205th. This was the former Colonial Diner (never been) and now the site for the two month old (as I was told upon inquiry) Trini's Pantry. The music overhead was a throwback to the 1950s-1960s, think Elvis Presley, The Carpenters, Dean Martin, Frankie Valli, Paul Anka. Welcoming owner or manager upon entering, upbeat waitstaff, and an experienced kitchen chef dealing with all the incoming orders and working both sides of the line. I had a birds eye view of the pass through, orders in & orders out at a good pace. I ordered the 3 egg Meat Lovers omelette, which was generously filled with bacon, ham, and sausage plus melty cheese. This came with perfect breakfast potatoes, crisp exterior and fluffy soft interior, and a slice of toast. Just take care with the hot plate, and yes, I was forewarned. I like my food piping hot, temperature appropriate. I was pleased and satisfied with my meal and boxed up the rest of my omelette. During my leisurely meal onsite, I was checked on twice, able to close out my check, and not feel rushed. They plan to eventually expand their hours and incorporate dinner service. In the meantime, Trini's Pantry is a great northend spot for breakfast and brunch!

Best Taiwanese food in town. I'm a cook and I know that they use Chinese woks to cook their food. That's why their food is cooked right! I love their crispy chicken with special sauce, pig ear salad, stir fried veggie with lamb, etc. The staff are friendly and quick. I have two kids and the servers always bring utensils, bowls and water in kid cups without asking. My family and I used to go to Facing East in Bellevue but we stopped going since we found Lookibg for Chai. Really recommended! read more
