This is by far my favorite place to go snowboarding, I'm from Miami and started snowboarding last year, I've been around New England resorts and Loon is definitely the best. The trails are perfect to practice making my trips so much fun. Unlike other mountains resorts like Cannon where the trails are mixed up and very confused, I ended up on a black :( , at Loon if you just follow the green dots (seriously who can't do that) you'll be totally fine, family slopes if you are with your family. The beautiful Ice Castle. They have tubing, parks, so many trails from the bunny slope to the double black, zipline, cross country, daycare . Lunch break at one of the restaurants and at the end of the day you can chill out at the Bar. They have shuttles, from/to the different lodges. I just came back from there, we spent out Valentine's weekend there. Impossible not to be happy about Loon. read more

This is for the ski resort, not the hotel. Great mountain! 51 trails were open with 10 lifts including an enclosed gondola and 3 express quads when we went. The staff was fabulous and they even had tissues when you got off the lift, nice touch. Prices were reasonable, although i do wish they had a half day option. We didn't use it but they have a lift for the tubing area which is great for when you have little ones with you. The area has some nice restaurants as well. I think it's really unfair that people give this place a low ranking because they think it's not for beginners. What about those of us who have been skiing our whole lives?! We like it here. And here's why: 1. South mountain has some great new steep slopes. With some good snow you can't beat jobber and ripsaw. Parking can always be found there (contrary to another review it's open to the public) 2. The terrain is varied and not too difficult - most intermediates would find it to be perfect and experts have a few choices as well. Yes, it's crowded during holidays (where isn't it though?!) but you have to know where to go at certain times - and no I not going to tell you 3. Boyne members can ski at other resorts such as big sky using their season pass! Plus rewards= 15% off in their ski shop 4. The shop, which used to be sport Thoma but no longer is, is much improved 5.friendly staff Maybe they don't have a ton of easy "green" terrain but every other mountain in the area does so please take your terrible beginner skills over there so you don't run into me (Bretton woods, Waterville, or go to NY- hunter, windham). This mountain has tons of little kids so I'm not sure what people mean by it not being a family friendly mountain. If you're a good skier you'll like it here. Is it the size of Sunday river? No. but it does suffice for NH. Ps. The waffles smell MUCH better than they taste and tix are overpriced at $81- why are they charging western prices for a east coast mtn.? read more

Had a very pleasant experience at Loon mountain last Sunday. We had purchased tickets to go up the tram to the top of the mountain, but when we arrived, we realized that it would be a very difficult walk for my disabled mom. On a whim, I popped my head into the health office and asked if there was any way my mom could get some assistance to the lift entrance, and IMMEDIATELY employee Morgan grabbed the keys for the golf cart and met us out front! It was amazing! We are very grateful, and want to make sure Morgan is recognized for his outstanding customer service. I've gone to Loon twice now. As far as skiing going I would say it is 5 stars. There are many different runs for people of all skill levels which is great! The staff on the lifts are friendly and the runs are really pretty as well. As far as the dining goes, a group of us recently at at the Outdoor Paul Bunyan area. It was terrible from the start. We were waiting on line to get to the hostess stand. We had a group of 6. The girl in front of us was next in line to be seated and turned around to our group and offered for us to go ahead as she was still waiting for her group to get there. Super kind, so we said ok. One of the waiters that worked there. Heavier set man with a beard started yelling at our group accusing us of cutting the line. We explained that we did not cut the line and what had happened and it wasn't until the girl who let us go ahead said something he was ok with it. No apology. We were then told that our party of 6 could not sit together so we said ok. The girls were seated at a table first and then the guys. The guys table was right next to another empty table so I decided to go up to the hostess stand to see if we could move tables to be closer to the guys. The hostess who was a 17 year old girl, probably new to the job, told me that we could not move tables. While I was talking to her that same heavy set bearded guy came over and pushed me into the hostess to get a rag and goes EXCUSE ME! For him to put his hands on me, a customer, let alone a woman, is a disgusting and unacceptable. I turned around and said excuse you! Do not put your hands on me. You need to say excuse me and then let the person get out of the way. And he goes " I said excuse me so too bad, that's what you get! " absolutely disgusting. I turned to the hostess and said that was extremely rude and she goes "oh no. That wasn't rude. It's Covid" what??? That makes no sense. Understood it's covid, we were all wearing masks, I was social distancing and just came up to ask a question. Both individuals were completely rude and I am surprised they have jobs there. I asked to speak with the manager. I told her what had happened and she didn't seem to mind at all. She did however let us know that our drinks would be covered...they weren't. We decided not to say anything because we wanted to get out of the disgusting establishment. Our food was extremely cold, not worth the money at all. Service is poor, food is poor, overall rating is poor. Avoid this restaurant at all costs! read more

Not even 5 years ago Loon used to be an extremely fun mountain. Now it is even more overcrowded than in years past. Good luck skiing there on the weekends. This mountain does not have the infrastructure to support the increasing popularity. The one day I've gone there this year we had to wait almost 2 hours just to get a parking spot. Oh yeah and then after we finally parked at escape route, we had to wait another hour just to get on a shuttle. After all the waiting we probably only got a good 4 hours of skiing in. They dumped millions of dollars into an extremely unnecessary new lift where that money could have been used to possibly expand terrain on south peak/spread out the skiers. It would have been worth it to drive the extra hour to get to Sunday River. read more

When to loon on a long weekend trip to NH. We ended up getting super luck that we were being chased up to the motel we were staying at, about 5 minutes from loon, by a blizzard. The first day was a powder day which is awesome; the next 2 were groomer which also made for good riding. The lines were long at the bottom, but if you stayed in the upper regions of the mountain, they had lift midway down. The lines were short to non-existent. A cool thing was that there was a church at the summit. Not really one for going to church but if they were running a service while I was there I probably would have gone. I feel like you're probably closer to whatever god you believe in at the top of a mountain. read more

My Loon is the autumnal version (so if you're looking for comments on skiing or riding, feel free to skip ahead to someone else's review); it's the first thing we see after getting off the Kanc and the last thing we see when we get back on it to head home. The views passing by it, or even stopping to explore it, during those September/October months feeds the foliage addiction quite well, #thankyouverymuch. There's also quite a bit that goes on here (and most other ski resorts in New England) in non-snowy weather. There's an Adventure Center where you can zip line, jump on a bungee trampoline, or try your luck at the rock climbing wall. You can also take a trip on NH's longest gondola ride (up the 2,700+ foot summit of Loon Peak) where you'll see amazing views of the White Mountains (near the peak is also nature trails, a place to pan for gold, glacial caves, and a cafe). It's a bit pricey, though, at $16 per person. Egads! There are also some really fun events: we've been here for the White Mountain Oktoberfest (usually the second weekend of October) and had a great time drinking in the mountain air, and drinking up the sites, and, well, just plain drinking. There was German food, an Oompah-band, games, and it was free to enter (with a valid 21+ ID... a mistake we learned after parking in the lower lot, walking all the way up sans ID's, walking all the way back to the car to get our ID's, and walking all the way back up... never was a beer more needed!). Loon's definitely worth checking out during the non-traditional skiing months if you're looking for some of that infamous New England scenery! read more

Loon Mountain Resort is an enjoyable place to visit even during the summer. We bought the lift and lunch combo ticket and took a nice leisurely gondola ride to the top for a sandwich and soft drink with an unbeatable view. The combo ticket basically just saves you a buck or two depending on the sandwich you order. The cafe at the top is a no frills, cafeteria style lunch counter but offers surprisingly great sandwiches. We wondered how they ever serve customers in the busier ski season. During the summer, sitting outside on the deck is perfect. You can also walk around and climb through some bolder caves or just climb to the top of the outlook tower to get a 360 degree view of the mountains. Beautiful. There are also other summer activities to enjoy which seemed to be focused on families with children. We would love to go back again in any season and take in the breathtaking views again. read more

This is a follow up review to my first which was prior to my kids snowboarding all-day camp. They had a blast! My son was up the lift very quickly being that he was in level 3. After his lessons he moved up to a level 4 and he was ecstatic! He wanted to keep going even after a 7-hour day on the mountain. My daughter was in a younger group and she too loved it! Ahhhh, snowboarding season is fast approaching and anyone who loves the feel of a little shredding will begin to get restless. Last year was my first full season in the area and we started trying out the local talent. I would have to say when talking about CONVENIENCE, Loon is the best so far. Only two hours north in NH, a straight shot up 93 (exit 32 & go east), Loon is easy to get to and offers a lot of entertainment. Its small and since its so close, it can get crowded, especially on the lower slopes, on the weekends - nothing like dodging little grommets as a pre-apres activity. But its run by the same resort company that owns Northstar in Tahoe, so they do a good job trying to keep lines moving and the slopes in good shape. If you can suffer the inane teen banter in the line, the gondola is the best & quickest way to get up the mountain. Then you should stay up. Coming back down to the bottom for lunch or a break is an exercise in annoyance & will take you forever to get up above where the lift-lickers are again. Summit Lodge offers good chili, by the way, so no need to make a break for the base for refueling. You can also go up the Kancamagus Express from the Admas Lodge - there are about 7 good blues off of this run & two easy black runs. There's not a lot of variety in the blues though they are all fun. ( Lower speakeasy is a nice winding, twisty exception). You can traverse over to the East Basin Lift to access Summit Lodge & the runs from it or the North Peak Express to access the peak. Once you're up on the mountain they take care of the bluesies. Lots of intermediate runs, many of them long and grouped together for variety. A bunch to the right of Summit Lodge. There's some freestyle areas to that side as well. That's also the way to get over to the South Peak while on the mountain. A couple new runs are open over there, but it's probably not worth the time yet from two blues & a black. Plus the drop off the lifts are a steep drop off surprise. It probably lets you avoid having to chicken wing it down the mountain on a busy weekend, but it won't keep you occupied for long. North Peak, to the left of Summit Lodge, has some nice runs that are a little more challenging and a nice long blue that begins with a run called Sunset. They have a handfull of glades, but unless it has snowed recently or you particularly want to pick tree bark out of your teeth, they may not be a good choice. If it HAS snowed - hit them early and they are fun. Afternoon ice becomes an face scraping annoyance if you aren't careful on the runs off the North Peak Lift. Sharpen your edges for the day after a warm one. Loon is good at making snow, but the treesy runs don't seem to get a lot of the man made stuff, so those are the runs to avoid if there hasn't been a duster in a while. When you come back down for the day, the run directly below the gondola, Picaroon, doesn't seem to get a lot of traffic and is wide enough for trying some fun turns. You can flip into the Terrain Park early on or near the bottom or just watch the huckers from the side of the trail. Flailing is fun for some. :) Watch out for the crud that never fails to be there at the bottom. It tends to harden up late in the day. Get there early & get a parking spot close to one of the lodges and you can practically board to your car. (They have valet if you want to pay for it, that is steps away from the gondolas. Nothing like stomping in style!) There's not a lot of night life in Lincoln, but Loon is not far from North Conway which is a cool little area full of bed and breakfasts, coffee shops, shopping, etc. and, of course, a few bars. There's a bunch of little mountains over that way, all within a half hour - cheaper lift prices, but smaller. If you want to do an overnighter, there's plenty of nice condos around Loon that are not going to cramp your cash. Its a good time to go up Friday night, relax with friends in the condo after work, hit the mountain early on Saturday, and beat the traffic home. However, rolling on the mountain Sunday afternoon gives you more room to experiement and crater in peace with fewer catcalls from the lifts. Four for convenience and grooming. Three for size and crowds. (Two for apres but since its usually a day trip, that's not really what I'm looking for.) read more

Booked the studio through groupon! It definitely exceeded my expectations. Traveled with my fiance and 2 toddlers.. room was perfect and absolutely immaculate. Full kitchen and murphy beds and an unexpected balcony with a gorgeous mountain view. Food was good, nothing superb. Breakfast was great for the price but didn't have the menu items listed. I was disappointed i was unable to utilize my spa credit due to a wedding and they were fully booked all weekend. I would absolutely return based on the rate we paid for the weekend ($250) i would just book a spa service ahead of time. read more

Well deserved reputation for steep blacks and blues, excellent snow making coverage and plenty of high speed quads and a gondola. Three different peaks with two geared for intermediate to advanced only, the snow is mostly well groomed and not overly skied. Each peak has a base lodge with one halfway up the mountain, good food, quick service and enough room. Frequent shuttles take trips between the various parking areas to the lodges. What a great ski resort! We spent most of our trip on the North Peak trails. North Peak quad is good and fast and leads to 3 of my favorite trails here. Upper and Lower Walking Boss had by far the best snow and conditions. Sunset is really nice too. I especially love the Loon bird sanctuary -- what a hidden gem!! The gondola continually draws in crowds, but the singles line moves along without a horrible wait time. I couldn't understand the train whistle I kept hearing until someone told me about the Loon train. So of course I dragged my boyfriend on the train because I've never seen one used to get from one end of a parking lot to the other. It's wood-fired, really well done and fun to ride! I think Loon has a lot to offer and I can't wait to come back! read more

The rental process took over an hour, they did not have enough people working at the counters or the helping people find the right boots and equipment. They had two people directing people to the computers to fill out paperwork upon entry and I thought that was unnecessary. One of those people could've been working the counters or rental equipment to speed up the process. They also had a perSon standing at the entrance of the lounge area turning people away who had food from the cafeteria downstairs or those underage even though children were still allowed in the area as long as they were accompanied. Just poor staffinG and planning but the choices of trails were still good. Only issue was there was ice in many of the trails which made snowboarding hard. This is mostly because it's early in the season but they should have warnings set up in certain areas etc. read more

Among the avid or extremely proficient, the more barren a mountain, the better. And it makes sense - powder doesn't get skied off, novices aren't barreling into to your frigid, brittle body and there's never a wait for lifts of bread bowl chowder. But then word gets out, and those quiet runs get bogged down with every skill level, and the pros take to new snows. Well, I'm an intermediate skier who rents equipment, approaches blue-blacks with serious caution and spends as much time as he can on the trails. These in mind, Loon has been a great experience every visit. Tips to escape the mad rush: - Go early. On one of only a few snowy weekends, the mountain was practically covered in corduroy from 8:30 til 11am, Saturday and Sunday. - Go mid-week. See above, but for all day. It's worth one of your stacked upon sick days. - Stay near the peak. Biggest crowds assemble at the high-speed gondola quad and most other base lifts. Keep your elevation high, and you can ski blues from Loon (East basin lift) and North (Express Quad) Peaks all day. - Find Cruiser. Take Exodus from Summit Lodge to the Tote Road Quad. That'll dump you off on the East Peak - a very quiet, black diamond assembly including the park's toughest run (Rip Saw). But, break left and find a long, scenic blue that, in this humble rookie's opinion, is the most peacefully fun run on the mountain. And to ease financial woes, consider renting offsite. While the equipment is well maintained, you can find cheaper gear in solid condition just down Main. And don't forget the Unconditional Guarantee! After eight solid hours on a Saturday, we found ourselves wiped out by 10:30a Sunday. Brought our lift tickets to the service window, and they gave us vouchers for a full day lift ticket any day this season - no questions asked. Reading this boss? We just came to go tubing and we had a blast! $18/ person for an hour and we got about 7 runs within that time. Staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely not just a kids tubing area, fun for adults too! I would definitely recommend tubing here to anyone. read more

Skied Loon over 15 years. The change in ownership in the last 5 years have made negative changes. South Mountain is now a privet area, any body can still ski their but not park, walk or enter the area in any way other than a lift, fortunately it's not open much. The once flourishing family mountain now has very few child, beginner friendly areas, most were turned into parks and/or are not open. The ski school thought run well for the very young, offers little more. Very few PSIA instructors and the school is 1/3 the size it was. We tried to take our son on bear claw but the over crowded trail is to dangerous for a child, fortune the ski school had plenty of availability and the everybody was great. The big question is, is Loon worth the money and it's not. The new ownership thinks this is UT or other west coast resort, focusing on long difficult family unfriendly trails. Ignoring the first time vacationers, tourists and adults learning to ski, not to mention the out of shape professionals that are not used to long runs. The worst problem is the easier trails including blue are overcrowded. The no smoking signs are gone and smokers are every were near the lifts, seating areas lodge. While I would still come here during the week if tickets we around $50, it is not worth the current $82 dollar price. Cannon is now better in every way. I came to Loon with my family only because I was given free passes. I will not come here in the future. read more

My parents have had a timeshare at the Village of Loon for nearly as long as they have been married. Every year, right after Christmas, we head up to Lincoln. I agree with the gripes about crowds. Loon caters quite a bit to snowboarders, and the affects the crowd dynamics in a big way. That said, I can always manage to find trails without too many people, mostly because I've been skiing this mountain for almost 30 years at this point. I haven't had problems with lift lines in a long while. I avoid the Gondola and take the faster quad to one of the mid-mountain lifts, since I prefer the terrain up there most days. The new terrain finally opened this year, and even though it's only three trails, it's worth skiing just so you can get the afternoon sun on your side of the mountain. Usually I have to stop skiing at like 2:30 because the sun has gone down past the summit and I JUST CAN'T SEE ANYMORE! Makes it hard to avoid the lines of people stopped in the middle of trails, and the parents teaching their 3-year-olds to ski on black diamonds. I cannot give Loon 4 stars despite my familiarity and their recent improvments. Unfortunately, they are (and have always been) significantly over-priced! Cannon, Black Mountain, Wildcat, and Attitash are all similar size, all around an hour away, and all CHEAPER! read more

Came here twice this season and will give it an OK. Pros: Tons of trails Newer rental equipment and nice people to help with sizing 2 peaks Good snow Easy shuttle bus from overflow lot Gondola Great views Cons: CROWDS!! Not great for beginner trails Lots of walking as trails, lifts and outlets are really spread out Overall, if you are an advanced intermediate-expert and want to do first tracks this is a great option when the snow is perfect and most people haven't arrived. You will love the mountain in those early hours. Otherwise its holy crowds on weekends at least. If you are just learning to ski and want to avoid spending on a full mountain ticket, the options for lower mountain tickets are lame, there is only 1 green trail to take besides the magic carpet lift. The outlet's were really crowded. The lunch and apres ski experience at the upstairs bar was more like a daycare with babies and little kids amongst the 21+'s. Almost like the cafeteria all over again. There was no table service for drinks, you had to go to the bar and bring them back to your table. Lines really piled up with too few bartenders. read more

This is a non-skiing review. Loon Mountain was an occasional stop for my family during peak foliage. It is a tourist epicenter, so there are often crowds. The mountain isn't very high, so the gondola trip to the top is relatively quick. Once up there you can take in the view and drink hot chocolate. You can also explore the top of the mountain, if it isn't too cold for you. Then you can either take the gondola or walk back down. Or fall down the mountain, like one of my sisters famously did. read more

This mountain makes me die a slow painful death each time I visit it. That said, I haven't been there for a few years, but with good reason. 1. The crowds. Good. God. The. Crowds. It's one of the closest big-ish mountains to Boston, and it's the go to for many families. I think they just like the gondola (which is quite fun in the summertime, actually). 2. The crowds. Again. They're that bad. It's like the Kells' dance floor on a Saturday night at 11:30 PM. 3. The prices. Waaayyyyy expensive. I'd rather pay that much for Sunday River, which at least as the terrain is large enough you can find a trail without anyone else on it. Loon would be fun - challenging, a little icey - but for the massive amounts of people. Spend your mula elsewhere. read more

So I'm a little late on writing this review considering it was 70 degrees out today but I will do it anyways. Very nice mountain, not as big as I imagined but still nice. Very challenging but well maintained trails. The lines moved pretty fast & the little train connector at the base was useful--I know I'm lazy. The lodge was pretty good sized and well kept. The bar was packed but fun. The weekend I was there was picturesque and therefore also packed so I got used to the lines. Overall a nice mountain but very expensive for its size. read more

Loon is a great place to go for a day trip from Boston. About a 2 hour car ride for some reasonable skiing. They don't get as much snow as some of the bigger places further north, so be sure to check their site before you go. They do make snow, and are good at focusing on some key top-to-bottom runs when the natural stuff is lacking. It can be crowded on the weekends, but if you can swing a midweek "sick" day, it's well worth it. 3 stars for all of this. The fourth star goes to Loon Mountain First Aid. Should you find yourself twisted and writhing in pain in the middle of a trail on the side of a mountain, you should be thankful you are at Loon. My unfortunate "incident" last winter had Loon Mountain rescuer Judy at my side within 10 minutes of my fall, a quick thinking Loon ski instructor stopped and warded other skiers away from my mangled body, and an unnamed rescuer (he probably told me his name, but I was trying too hard not to scream #*@?!!! at the top of my lungs to remember) strapped me to a sled and deftly delivered me safely to the first aid center. Once inside, I was seen by the doctor on staff--an ORTHOPEDIST! Damn Loon, how good are you to be able to staff an orthopedist on the weekends at your tiny first aid center? What a relief to my now embarrassed self who somehow couldn't make a simple turn the second time I went down a relatively easy run. How mortifying it was to tell Judy that I had probably been down that run 50 times before, and it was my second time that day. Not much help for their efforts to assess dangerous areas on the mountain. They were able to take X-rays on site, give me a brace and crutches, and send me hobbling off. I was so happy that I didn't have to then go sit in an emergency room, and was able to head home and see my PCP the next day. One of the coolest things Loon did was to give me (and my friends!) vouchers for another lift ticket (thankfully good through next season, 'cause my dislocated kneecap kind of took me out for the entirety of the 2006-2007 season). I just felt bad because I couldn't convince my friends to continue skiing while I sat in the bar for the rest of the day (I really could have used some drinks!). And, a few days later, Judy sent me a "get well" postcard (which is really the only way I can remember her name, since the pain and the cold rendered my comprehension skills largely useless). We had a wonderful weekend at the mountain here! The food was fabulous, there were plenty of gluten free options, and the staff was incredibly friendly. For gluten free options there was gluten free pizza and most food options were labeled for ingredients (which is incredibly helpful). I got the steak chili for lunch and there were also many salad options. The ski resort is large with many different lifts and buses from condos to the mountain which is very helpful. The lift tickets on weekends were $98 with $10 off for a student discount. We tried to go tubing but you have to make a reservation to do so! Next time we will keep this in mind! All Loon needs right now is some good natural snow and they'd be all set. I came up from Boston yesterday (2 hrs 15 minutes drive) for the Sunday afternoon ticket ($29). You can't beat that, even if you consider Cannon's two for one offer on Superbowl Sunday. It rained last week, and then the temps dropped. When I saw Loon's site say they would be blowing snow all weekend, I really didn't believe them. But, when I started skiing yesterday I was pelted in the face on just about every run with frozen granular. Most mountains do a little snow making in the over night, spread it out and then leave it to be skied off during the next morning. I think it's clear Loon was doing their best to keep all of their runs open and safe. There were some pretty icy blues though, so I didn't really try skiing the blacks. I started at the Kancamagus Quad and skied over to the East Basin Chair (to avoid gondola traffic). East Basin was a pretty slow chair. Then I was at the South Peak for a few runs. Cruiser was a neat run but I was a little surprised to see such weird hills in the middle of the run. It was like they blew snow but didn't spread it out. About 3PM I took a ride on the gondola and took a right down Upper Speakeasy which was so icy I had to force myself to slow down and literally just ski on the edge of the run to find some kind of snow to turn on. If the conditions were better, my ski day would've been great. If you think the gondola takes too long, I would just start skiing from the North Peak and East Basin chairs to save time. All of the staff member I spoke with at the ticket window, the resort guide (?) on the slopes and the shuttle bus crew were all nice to me and helpful. Wedding Review for Loon Mountain! We were married at Loon Mountain on September 6, 2014. We chose to have our wedding ceremony at the top of the mountain and the reception in the lodge by the Gondola. We had approximately 140 guests. When you choose to have a wedding outdoors you run the risk of rain. We took the risk because we fell in love with Loon as soon as we sat down for our consultation. On the day of our wedding it started misting in the morning. We received a call from Abby, the wedding coordinator, asking if we would like to have our ceremony inside or continue with our wedding on the top of the mountain. We chose to risk it all and stick with the mountain top ceremony. Loon was great and provided 75 umbrellas even though it was not raining as the guests were going up the gondola for the ceremony. When the ceremony started we had a small patch of blue sky above us. My father gave me away to my husband and our ceremony started. As soon as my Aunt started the opening prayer raindrops began to drip down. Then, it was a torrential sideways downpour. Now you might think I am giving a bad review at this point, but no, this was the most amazing thing to happen on our wedding day! It was so much fun, everyone was laughing and smiling, and the show went on! Rain or shine your wedding day feels like the best day of your life and in our situation, the rain only made it better! We then went to the bottom of the mountain to start cocktail hour. We were greeted at the end of the gondola with a table full of towels and Loon staff helping us with anything we asked for. The bridal party was shuttled down to the river to take group photos, soaked and all! The pictures came out amazing! Once we were announced into the reception we were immediately greeted by a server asking if we needed anything to drink. We were able to eat our meals at our sweetheart table and then continued our amazing reception! The meals are incredible! The staff constantly made sure we were taken care of throughout the night. I would highly recommend Loon Mountain as a wedding venue to anyone looking to have an amazing New Hampshire wedding! The staff is unbelievable and the venue is beautiful, rain or shine!! read more

This is a family friendly resort so expect plenty of kids 3 and up. If you have problem with little kids getting in your way in the easier trails by the bunny side, Loon is not for you. I found it fun dodging little kids going down the green - made it more interesting than just go straight down. I found the trails pretty fun for my level - intermediate. It was a blast crisscrossing between the bases. There's a gondola here if you get psyched out by lifts. read more

I've never been to a mountain where they don't have an employee organizing the lift line. It's absolute chaos and a total free for all. I went on school vacation week and you would think with the amount of people there they could ask one of the 3-4 employees chillin in the lift shed to go out and help work the lift line. There were hundreds of people in line and nobody knew when to go which would cause a huge jam every time. You basically just have to be super aggressive and keep pushing forward and cut people off if you ever want to make it to the lift. Either too many people would get to the lift at the same time and not know what to do or there would be multiple chairs in a row with 1 person on them. To add to the chaos every person that tried to get through the card reading gate would spend about a minute waving their card around the machine like they were creating a new tik tok dance just desperately trying to get their card to read. Just an absolute disaster trying to get on the lift when every other mountain makes it so easy. Fix those two very important things and it would be a decent mountain. No chance I go back until then. read more

Beautiful mountain. Great runs a little more challenging for newbies even on greens. However I am not a fan of lifts closing at 4 when it stays sunny late in the season till atleast 6. Also that means they stop serving food at the top of the mountain lodge around 230. everyone was super nice I would def say try it for the weekend but make sure you have 2 days of going up to enjoy it all because 6 and a half hours in good weather driving from NY is not worth it for just one day read more

This would be a 2 star review had I not just skied the new expansion at Loon. Every time I have ever been to Loon I have hated it. So crowded and full of kids and yahoos. We went back this past weekend and things have much improved. The new expansion trails are challenging and long so the kids and yahoos tend to stay on the main mountain. There is a cute little lodge over there with a deck. Very nice. We skied over to the north peak lodge and it was the same old crowded Loon I remember from years past. The main lodge smelled like cow poo outside so sitting in the sun over there was not an option. I'll go back next season and give it another go. Maybe I'll add another star...maybe I'll take one away. One thing I really do like a bout Loon is the adaptive ski program. I can't tell you first hand of the adaptive lessons, since I have not participated in them, but skiing there you can tell it's a great program. There are tons of adaptive students of all sorts on the mountain. read more

SUMMER/FALL REVIEW We decided to take the gondolas up to Loon Mountain and were not disappointed! The views are incredible! From the deck of the cafe you look down onto a beautiful lake and the fall coloured mountain sides. The deck, outfitted w tables, chairs, benches and umbrella is the perfect place to sit and relax w a snack or drink. We climbed up the observatory tower and marveled at the view on the clear day. Mount Washington looked gorgeous on the horizon. The playground was a nice surprise and a big hit with our daughter. We wandered to the short and fun glacial cave hike and had a blast going through the caves. It was a highlight of the day! The views are gorgeous from wherever you are, trails will take you on a long or short hike and the amenities are great. The artisan village was a bit of a disappointment, but we didn't go up there to shop! read more

SUMMER Review: I went here a couple days ago. $15 gets you unlimited gondola rides up the mountain but seeing as there is a shortage of things to do at the top there is no need to go up more then once. At the top they have a cafe style restaurant which serves cheap mixed drinks and an assortment of other things. The deck adjacent to the cafe offers a spectacular view of a lake, mountains and surrounding resorts. Their Artisan "village" consists of one log cabin filled by a womans art work. The woman was laying outside of the cabin in a sleeping bag... weird. There is also what they call a nature trail which is pretty much the circumference of my back yard that consists of informative facts of the trees and wildlife in the area. The nature tail ends with a four story observation tower. There were little bitting bugs EVERYWHERE which made it almost impossible to enjoy anything (even after applying and reapplying bug spray). Loon also offers a few boulder caves that ends at a "gold mine" which is just staged silliness. If you tell the gondola ride operate before going down that you found the gold mine he will give you a plastic piece of gold. All and all I wouldn't go back again during the summer but I gave it two stars because of the spectacular view. I imagine the winter has much much more to offer. read more

We just left the resort today after a two night (too short) stay. The resort is absolutely beautiful, cozy, well-kept, and FUN. Every staff member was extraordinarily nice and went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. One of the front desk attendants gave us wonderful activity recommendations that changed our trip for the better. The restaurants and bar were all great, with delicious fairly priced food. The top of Loon Mountain has a nice cafe (small menu,great food), glacial caves to explore, a small playground, lookout tower, and disc golf (if you have good footwear and are prepared to hike gradually down the mountain) and obviously spectacular 3,000 foot views for miles. We wish we could have stayed longer but look forward to bringing family or friends back one day! read more
