Realizing that it was going to be a solid 6 weeks until I could get another hair cut, I consulted the Yelps and they led me to Shine. Let me tell you how awesome this place is. Every facet of my experience with Shine was, in a word, perfection. From my phone call, begging for an appointment (which they took cheerfully and got me in to see Ariel right away) to my arrival at the salon, to the shampoo, to my cut, there wasn't a detail that was overlooked and not a moment that I wasn't made to feel special. First off, the space is just beautiful. Housed in a storefront in downtown Ossining, it's an open, airy place with lots of wood and exposed brick; gorgeous. I was given a bottle of spa water (which they make there) with watermelon and mint (delightful on a hot August day) that I could sip while I waited ... which wasn't more than about 45 seconds. Ariel greeted me and took lots of time talking to me about what I liked, what I didn't, taking note of my hair and how it grows, etc. I got shampooed (which included a super-relaxing scalp massage--OMGSONICE) and Ariel got started. She is a MASTER of precision and saw to things with the most exacting detail. My cut is FAN-TASTIC. I love it love it love it. There wasn't a single thing about my experience with Shine that I could make better.

From the moment you walk into Leticia's gorgeous salon you feel at home. It's beautiful wood finish and pristine artistic design that is well lit with natural sunlight feels as if you are stepping into a magical tree house. I have not had good experiences with coloring. I requested blending of grays (I'm growing out the natural gray color and wanted to make the "line" a little less obvious). They did their best, but it was harsh and ruined the ends of my hair to where it now won't curl. It looks ridiculous and I can't wear it down. I just wish I would have been warned that what they were going to do was likely going to damage it. I would have just lived with the current color/gray line. I'll go back. Just never again for coloring.

Broadway in Tarrytown has the sit-down salon side of it with washing stations, nail stations, etc. The opposite side comes across as a separate business- but it's actually wall-to-wall stocked with almost every Aveda product out there. A little out of the way for me, but my tried-and-true hair salon that carries Aveda by me was limited on supply. So Eclipse it is for the win with pleasant staff.
