We were craving Mexican last night and wanted to go somewhere with a patio so we could bring our dog. We had only been to Los Agaves once before but were seated inside. I was impressed with how quickly they were able to seat us despite it being so busy in a Saturday night. We managed to snag the only available table out there. Score! They immediately brought us tortilla chips which were still warm and plenty of salsa. Our server was quick to take our order and return with waters. They were able to accommodate my request to make substitutions to my enchiladas. The food was delicious and we enjoyed the overall experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I have been here a couple of times, and unfortunately, after my experience last night, I don't plan to return. Service was slow and the food was just okay, but what really bothered me was the way gratuity was handled. I was with a party of eight, and I completely understand an automatic 18% gratuity for larger parties. The problem is that the gratuity was not shown on the paper check we were given before paying. My check showed a total in the $60s. The server then took my card and processed it on the handheld device she was holding. I was presented with the option to select a tip, so I selected 20%, believing I was tipping 20% on the total shown on my paper check. It wasn't until the very end that my total suddenly showed $92. Once several people in our group noticed the same discrepancy, we asked about it and learned that an 18% gratuity had already been added. We had essentially tipped on top of an automatic gratuity without realizing it. To their credit, they refunded the additional tips when we asked. What bothered me most was when we asked why the automatic gratuity wasn't included on the paper check, and our waitress responded, 'because some people don't tip.' An automatic gratuity for a large party is perfectly reasonable, but customers should be clearly told about it and should be able to see their actual total, including the gratuity, before their card is processed and they're prompted to add another tip. Unfortunately, this also wasn't my first uncomfortable experience here. The first time I visited with my family, while we were still eating, a staff member asked if they could take the chair my son was sitting in to use at another table. Yes--he was literally still sitting in it. We were so surprised by the request that we asked for our bill and left. I only returned last night because it was a girls' night and someone else had made the reservation. After this experience, I won't be returning again. If you dine here with a larger party, I would strongly recommend checking whether gratuity has already been added before selecting an additional tip. read more

I was in the area for a few days visiting family, and this was close to the hotel. The restaurant offers a discount if you present your hotel key. The lunch menu was great; my parents, who eat a very bland diet, both found things they enjoyed. And the fried ice cream dessert was great. The decor and service were spot on. read more

Food was very good! It was a Friday night and we did not have reservations, but when we walked in we saw 2 open seats at the bar and still had to wait over 15 minutes just to be seated there. Went to Los Agaves with my family (11 people), and we had a really wonderful time! The staff was so kind and did a great job serving our large party, especially with two children under the age of 2yrs old. We went on a Sunday for lunch, and it wasn't too busy when we arrived, so we were seated instantly. I think we arrived just before the lunch rush (around 1:00pm), because it quickly became packed!! The food was pretty good, they did an amazing job navigating our party's dietary restrictions (some gf/df, allergies, and vegetarian), though I will say nothing "stood out" as exceptional to our party menu wise. The prices were very fair! The restaurant was very clean & the vibes were good, a nice blend between casual and classy. I also have a service dog and they were great accommodating her. Gave us the perfect table out of the way of foot traffic so she wasn't in the waiter/guest's ways while they walked by, which is always so helpful!! While visiting with family we dined at Los Agaves Grill a few weekends ago and had a good experience! I felt a little bad we walked in with 3 babies/toddlers and required 3 high chairs and was grateful they were able to accommodate! There were a TON of families there eating with small kids- very family friendly. The menu had a ton of delicious looking options- I ordered the shrimp tacos with a side of black beans- both were really good! My toddler enjoyed my shrimp as well. I will say the service was a little slow- especially when dining with kids and you need it to be a little bit on the speedy side- but all in all was not bad! read more

The food was great, but the service was amazing!! We showed up on a Sunday night with a group of 25. They didn't bat an eye. They gladly seated and served us. Chips were refilled nonstop. We love coming to this place whenever we don't feel like making food at home and want something delicious! This time around, I accidentally ordered tacos that come on flour tortillas by default and did not ask or request corn. When they came out, the servers were so polite and friendly to change the order and quickly brought out new tacos on corn tortillas. This is a nice place in Westfield right near the freeway amongst many other restaurants and eateries around. Really good vibe and extremely family friendly on a Saturday though there's a separate bar too with huge screens. Service was very good and prompt and I enjoyed my Fajita Burrito which included a really delicious flavored rice along with the veggies and shrimp. The shrimp was cooked to perfection and veggies were just right. The portions were huge so we ended up ordering a bean dip on the side with the on the house chips and salsa. We stop here every time we pass it! the food is exceptional. You order at the counter and the waiter brings your food. It's small but cute and the outside patio is beautiful on a warm day. They have a "flight" of salsas they bring with chips, very good. I always have the Stuffed Crab Enchiladas it comes with a little salad with a mango dressing that is to die for and some beans. That's like expecting professional or D1 level Mexican and what you actually get is community college food court. It looks pretty but it was salty, soggy, and the rice had peas. Who puts peas in the rice other than the San Francisco chef for the Rice a Roni back of package recipe. That's just nasty. They don't belong together unless it's poorly made Chinese food, but peas are not meant to sully Mexican food. Anyway I digress. Back to the food. It was salty. The favors were ordinary. The food was cliche and lacked imagination. It was a meme of every other tortilla, bean based burrito establishment in the Midwest. Fresh innovative flavors with Tamarind and Tequila. Salted rim and spiced goodness. I got Pastor Tacos, and the meat was tender, spicy and mexico coty street flavor from slow cooked and shaved to a soft authentic presssed tortillas doubled up and complimented with small pico, rice and some of the best spicy pepper sauce I have had. We have saying... "It has layers". Flavor layers. My date got chicken enchiladas with mole over top. Rich smokey sweet sauce. Love the food here but we waited over 40 minutes for our food which is like waiting 3 hours in a Mexican restaurant where the food usually comes out fast. They said that they had a big catering order to fill. A catering order should never cause someone who comes in and sits down inside the restaurant to wait that long for food. Before I begin my review, let me insert my new "automatic" disclaimer for all Yelp reviews that I write in the post-COVID world: I've noticed that a lot of my reviews have become slightly less enthusiastic compared to how they were two years ago. However, I'm not lowering my standards until you lower my price. As long as restaurants continue charging me full or even inflated prices, then the least I can do is to expect reasonable service and food quality. My experience at Los Agaves was typical: The food was great, but the service was lousy. I arrived as part of a group of eight people from the office. We were welcoming a new employee to the team, and Los Agaves is close to where I work. Our server was inexperienced and disappeared for long, long periods. Drinks ran dry throughout the entire hour-long stay, and one person in our party even took her empty glass up to the greeter at the front door, begging for liquids and/or an antidote to the hot pepper she just ingested. I'm sure I'll be back, but I'm bringing my own water bottle, just in case. read more

This place seems like it is out of the way but it is only 13 min north on 31 from 465. It is also right off of the highway so pretty convenient. The inside is nicely designed and welcoming. When I stopped in it was In between lunch and dinner so not busy but we were not the only table there. The menu is a bit on the pricey side just because I think I only saw a few items under 15$. You get salsa and chips we ended ordering guacamole which I thought was delicious. I actually ate way to many chips and barely made a dent on my food but was happy to have a tasty lunch for the next day. I ordered a lamb chimichanga because I love lamb and hardly ever see it at a Mexican restaurant my husband got the spicy shrimp and said the sauce was legit spicy. This says a lot because he gets things Thai hot all the time. Both dishes were solid I just think the shrimp should have come with tortillas. Los Agavas, has a fully stocked bar with a nice variety of tequilas. They offer both flights of tequila and margaritas. My suggestion is if you get the flight of margaritas make sure you have someone to share them with:). They come in regular sized cups and I thought all 3 were good.
