I had the pear margarita. Apparently they ran out of oranges so the drink arrived without any garnishment so no photo worthy pic obtained. It was just ok. I ordered an old fashioned with bullit rye whiskey, and it was terrific. We could also order food from Wolfie's Grill, so I ordered the hot honey pepperoni pizza. It was a wonderful pizza. The highlight of our experience was hanging out on the deck watching the view of the Geist Reservoir on a beautiful day. Delmonte roll, Toro (tuna belly!) absolutely wonderful and I enjoyed it to the last bite. Lobster roll, lots of lobster in a light dressing of kimchi mayo on top of the veggie roll. Presentation, all of the dishes came out looking very appetizing. Dessert, Lemon Possette, is fabulous! Custard like but creamier/looser towards the bottom with jam and fresh tanneries on top. It's difficult to stop eating! Chris, the owner, took the time to stop at our table and have a lovely conversation with us and we're so glad he created this touch of Monterey (CA) here in central Indiana. Yet as we reached the top of the stairs to the lobby I was immediately disappointed that there was no fire lit in the fireplace. There were only three parties in the place. One was around the corner in the adjoining sitting area and may or may not have been drinking. There were two couples at the bar, where we considered also sitting. But the only empty spot for two had two dirty drink glasses from a previous patron still sitting. So we opted for the leather couch and chair in the main area just across from the bar. And that's where we waited, and waited, for almost 30 minutes, before giving up on getting served (or acknowledged). There was only one bartender, so we were fine with going up to order but communication would have been helpful. We stood at the bar while she chatted with the two couples, who'd all been served. We couldn't really figure out what she was doing as she seemed busy-ish yet wasn't serving, or clearing, or washing, and we were chatting between ourselves and didn't really give it much thought. Then she said she was out of something and was leaving the bar to go fetch it. We asked her to let us know when she was ready to serve us, and we took our seats to resume our conversation. The bartender returned after a while, and she served one of the original couples ... for another 10 minutes at least. Again we were talking so, while an irritation, it was in the background. About 50 minutes into our visit, she came over and took our drink order. This was my third or fourth visit, and I'd ordered my drink, an old fashioned, before and knew what to expect: bourbon of choice, Luxardo cherry, and a dehydrated orange slice. Ten minutes later we got our drinks. Now mind you, my friend ordered a glass of wine. Nothing time consuming about that. She noted that her pour was smaller than the other times she'd been there. Mine came with the whisky cube already on its way to melted, a broken (a.k.a. piece of) cherry and a twist. What? Where's my glorious little crunchy orange wheel of goodness? I had spied them on the bar earlier. No soup for me! Also, and I can't be sure 100% sure of this, but I tasted neither bitters nor syrup. Was this really just a bourbon rocks? It took a minute but we realized this gal cannot tend and talk at the same time. My friend commented that she had no idea what will happen when the place gets busy, as it has been every other time I've been there. We left after 8:00, after one drink, and for me, $21 lighter. Yeah, it's pricey. And the Carmichael crowd is a discriminating one. So we expected better. Much, much better.

I personally prefer the "patio" seating, which is covered/shaded, but it's so pretty when they pull the drapes up and you can look outside. This was our first time at 1933 Lounge. We are snobs when it comes to steaks and the way they are cooked. However, we were blown away at how good our steaks were. Each bite was perfectly seasoned, tender, and just melts in your mouth! I believe we ordered the USDA Prime Strip Steak and the Bone-in Dry Aged Ribeye with the Bearnaise sauce, but I feel like you can't go wrong with any of the steaks on their menu when it's cooked with such precision. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about all items on the menu. Per his recommendation, we ordered the St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail with their spicy, signature cocktail sauce and the Crème Corn Brulee. For starters, the Crème Corn Brulee was unlike anything we've ever tried. The crunchy, caramelized top coat and sweetness of the corn went so well with our savory steaks. It's an absolute MUST-TRY!!! But back to the St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail. WHY would you not warn people that the spicy signature sauce consists of freshly grated horseradish? We took the biggest freaking bite of the shrimp with a heaping amount of sauce and just about died. I didn't know what to do with myself in that moment. My eyes were watering and my nasal passages felt like they were burning off. The saltine crackers definitely helped, but I was questioning every life decision in that moment. If you are a first-timer, PLEASE order the sauce on the side. DON'T BE LIKE ME AND GO IN BLINDLY FOR A LARGE BITE! There should be a warning label on the menu lol. It took me a few minutes to recover. Lastly, the lobster bisque was divine. Espresso martini was 10/10. I think we will be back in the future, but next time we will skip on the St. Elmo Shrimp cocktail.

They also have a gorgeous little side wine room that you can rent for parties of 6-8 for dinner. And there's a little bar area that seats maybe 4-6. We had reservations for 6pm, so there were only 2 or 3 other tables occupied when we got there, but they filled throughout the night (& we left close to 8pm). Our server Shaunda was delightful, and the owner Dan came around and checked on all the tables a few times as well. We were presented with a cous cous amuse bouche, a nice refreshing bite to start the evening. Hubs had an Italian Old Fashioned and I asked our server to pair wine for me, so it was a Decoy Sauv Blanc with our first course - the mussels. We asked for extra crostinis in order to soak up more of the delicious sauce they came in. Next was the beet arugula salad, so good! For entrees, hubs had the pappardelle bolognaise and got an iced T, and I had the short ribs with risotto, paired with a glass of cab franc. The fish itself was very fresh, with just the right amount of breading. Service: This is a counter-service type of restaurant, so service was fine for that type of setting. Orders are brought out to your table after ordering, on an aluminum tray. Ambiance: It's nicely decorated and everything is still brand new, but there were two things that could easily be improved: a) Considering the relatively high prices of everything, I would expect real fountain soft drinks with free refills, but instead, you get a can of soda and a glass of ice. ?!?!?!? The canned soda with no refills is inconsistent with the otherwise higher-end nature of this restaurant. Canned Coke is what I expect when I ask for a beverage at a food truck or when I'm at a carnival, not after I just dropped upwards of $30 for fish & chips and cole slaw. b) We arrived right at noon, with only one other customer there, and yet we were told that all soups were already "sold out". Not believable. It sounds more like someone forgot to order more soup ingredients, and/or they just didn't have anything heated-up.
