LA Pool Builders did a meticulous job building our hillside pool in 2019. They are widely regarded as the best pool construction company in Los Angeles. Our project was extensive and involved expansion of our yard, installation of numerous 30' pilings into untouched hillside to support a very large pool, and the addition of a large concrete tiled deck. It was completed in about 9 months and was coordinated with an extensive door and window remodel with a general contractor which was also seamless with Brad's careful coordination. Brad and his crew were respectful, professional, on time and on budget. Brad was and has been incredibly responsive throughout the process and in the years afterwards. Whenever we have a question he answers immediately and follows through until our concerns are addressed. I had to reach out to him recently with a question about our pool lights and even though it has been 4 years he was still so kind and thorough which reminded me to write this review. It is not surprising that his company considered the best pool builder in all of Los Angeles. I would highly recommend them without reservation. read more

I'm leaving two stars because I didn't have a pool built by them. But communication was extremely poor and annoying and has a left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't normally write poor reviews. About two weeks ago, I sent a detailed Yelp message with the work I needed. Brad sent back with a pro forma message to "call the office to schedule something." I did and spoke to someone, but they didn't schedule anything and told me I would get a call. Two weeks later and haven't heard anything. I even followed up again on Yelp which went ignored. I tried to resolve the issue in good faith and even expressed my concern that I was being forced to jump through a lot of hoops just to schedule an appointment. I feel I've given them multiple chances to deliver better customer service, so won't be removing my review. read more

We love LA Pool Builders (LAPB)! Our old, chipped out kidney bean pool needed to be completely jackhammered out, re-shaped into a rectangle with a new raised hot tub in one corner, the equipment jungle needed to be relocated to an unseen spot, 100s of feet of heavy glass tile installed on vertical faces -- you name it, LAPB handled it. Permit delays, they drove them through. 100* weather, they were on site, on time, chugging water and working their butts off. It took a year (with one 3-month permit delay in there, so really 9 mos of labor), and our backyard is now a paradise. The pix of the pool, hot tub, and walking pavers are all LAPB. The Ipe wood deck, poured concrete bench, and all living landscape are by Creative Vision Landscaping. read more

It's rare I will take time out in my day to write a review. In this situation for the Los Angels Pool Builders and especial Aaron Hixson I find it a pleasure and a duty. After undergoing multiple construction projects in my life this was truly the easiest and the most brainless thing I have ever done. My pool literally took less than six weeks. I was involved in the beginning with what I wanted and then when it was time to choose tile and at the end when reviewing how to work the tech aspects. The quality of our pool is second to none I've seen. The professionalism of Aaron's team was beyond expectation, and the all around stress free aspect of it was truly a surprise. We have done several construction projects across multiple homes and working with LA Pool Builders has by far been the most challenging. Throughout the process, they did not guide us as to next steps leaving us panicked and unprepared. There was no schedule or timeline, just us having to check in endlessly to see where things stood. Perhaps the worst part of all is the extremely rude manner in which our texts and messages were answered. At times a simple, could you update us on where we are in the process, was answered with stop harassing me! Literally. We couldn't believe that spending so much money on a pool would leave us feeling like hostages. The stress that this caused was beyond anything that anyone would have to deal with while building a pool and spending hundreds of thousands. I could go on and on but I will simply say, if you could avoid using LA Pool Builders, I strongly urge you to do so. Perhaps the uptick in pandemic business made some of them feel like they could treat their clients however they see fit but hopefully that won't last. Above all the attention to detail was subpar. Back and forth on what's available and what's not along with a shabby finish on the hardscape. The best part - it's over. read more

Let me start off by saying we did not have a pool built by them. My review is just on how communications or lack of communications went. I was excited to reach out to them and possibly work with them since they had such high ratings. But communication was terrible. I reached out 3 times, phone calls and messaging (yelp and their website). The first time I emailed I received a reply (Christine) to provide my address in which I did so quickly on the same day 6/26, alas no response. I tried again and even messaged Brad on Yelp on 7/13 that I had called and left a message on their main line. No complaints about Brad. Followup on 7/17 to find out when someone would reach out. I received a text and I think missed call from Aaron. I informed him that email would be a better way to communicate for me during work hours. In which I emailed him first and he replied by addressing me as "G", so not the most professional way to address a potential client but I went with it. So after just a few emails and then again waiting a week for reply to schedule a site visit, I reached out again. I decided not to go with them. Mostly because communication was frustrating and that to me represents how future dealings will go and this was not promising. Secondly they charged for designs and layout plans, in which I received 2 free ones from other companies. Aaron did provide good information on quotes but I felt the delayed responses had already hindered my decision to work with them. read more

This is the first contractor I have worked with that was timely, professional and did an amazing job with 0 problems, i repeat 0 problems. a rare find! Quality - If you want the best then you shouldnt look any further. My wife and I wanted a very complicated contemporary pool with a huge baja and jets. We didnt really know what we wanted and Brad really helped our decision and designed an amazing looking pool. The quality in tiles, and work were unmatched. We were speechless with the quality of his workers. They cleaned up after themselves and delivered everything seamlessly. Professionals - these guys are really good at what they do. Brad's crew was always on time, always professional and cleaned up after to make sure. They were overly cautious even apologizing to neighbors for some construction noise! After all was said and done they trained me on all the equipment. Price - you pay for what you get. These guys were very competitive. They werent the cheapest and they shouldnt be given the quality work they did. My friend had almost the same build I did and paid 5k less and his project is still ongoing lol while we are enjoying the summer heat! Service - I cant say more about this. We had an amazing, positive experience working with Brad and Miranda at LA Pool Builders. We started a full home and yard remodeling project, and soon found that the "home" portion of our budget was eating up the "yard" portion. We halted midstream, and contacted LA Pool Builders to see if they could help us with our dream yard/pool without breaking the bank. They were able to give us a very detailed plan with a clear budget that outlined all costs. The end result is gorgeous. Brad has an amazing eye, and is so knowledgeable. I used LA Pool Builders when I did a complete back yard remodel. The owner, Brad, came and actually sat down in my back yard and looked at the pool area with my wife and I for an HOUR to help decide what to so with an unusual space we needed to work with. I built my entire pool with LA Pool Builders and specifically Jeff Rohrer. He was on time, so friendly, did a great job (exactly what I wanted), he came over to my site within hours every time I called, did a perfect job, no problems. This is saying a lot when you're building a house. He was one of the only sub contractors I used that I had zero problems with and did the work exactly as I asked. Years later, he still comes out to check and fix anything - usually the same day I text him. I wouldn't use anyone else if building a pool. Great product and great service. read more

Wouldn't recommend these guys as much as I hate giving bad reviews ..they promise not to change your quote but did .. they "forgot" to bill us for our equipment supposedly and 3 mos after completing the job asked for a more money .. since we were just moving in to the house I was unable to find all the original documents so we just paid them to stop the harassment ..we have had our pool for 8 mos and it looks terrible the work was Mickey Mouse and it shows ..never saw or heard from brad which is disappointing since I heard he was great .. the guy on our job billed us for work never done and we had to press him to get him to admit it after several months and finally reverse those charges and they never corrected mistakes made so we deal with them ourselves on a regular basis .. the only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the pool holds water lol read more

LA Pool Builders handled all aspects of the project. It was so easy to work with their team- Aaron and Miranda were quick to respond, open and honest about cost and any changes we wanted to make, and responsive to our needs and concerns. They worked fast- the project took two months from when they broke ground- and kept us updated on any delays. We are thrilled with the quality of all their work. Suppose my wife put it best. "For someone as particular but frugal as you are, you're lucky you found Aaron H. and LA Pool Builders." (She may have actually used the words "demanding" and "cheap", but I'm the one writing this review.) Point being, we love our backyard. From the beautiful pool, to the half court, to the putting green, we actually have a space that can pull the kids away from their ipads and play outside. The team is full service from start to finish, having listened to our design wants and budget considerations. Unlike stories friends have shared about their pool building experiences, felt we had constant contact with the team leads who stayed on schedule and regularly presented options or suggestions when hurdles occurred. My job supervisor was Aaron. He is a true professional and a gentleman, and a man of his word. No phony promises or hype. He helped me plan out the pool design, gave me helpful suggestions on every aspect. I'm pretty detail oriented and fussy, but he answered all of my question patiently and explained each phase. I normally don't give bad reviews I just let the issue slide by, but this particular company felt somewhat racist to me. I called to try and get an estimate for a pool installation the guy that answered took my address within 1 minute and told me that he does not go west of the 10 freeway. I immediately telling him I'm 5 minutes from the 10 freeway off of La Brea in Los Angeles he then proceeded to tell me your area is too far for our company we don't service that area. I told him we're in the main Heart of Los Angeles and your company says Los Angeles builders and you're in West Hollywood? We're 15 to 20 minutes from West Hollywood I'm confused, he then proceeded to tell me look we don't service your area. The reason I felt this was racist is because I live in a predominantly upscale black area known as View Park, Ladera Heights and Windsor Hills. He must have looked at the area and felt that he did not want to deal with an African American family, felt very strange and bizarre to not want to give us an estimate. read more

We just completed a major remodel of our pool, spa, and waterfall with Los Angeles Pool Builders. If we could give them more than 5 stars we would! EXACTLY on time, on budget--and beautifully and professionally executed! We waited 2 years to find the right pool contractors after reading terrible reviews about other companies. We were so afraid that our backyard would be torn up with no end in sight. Finally we made a call--to Aaron Hixson at Los Angeles Pool Builders. He came out the very next day and gave us an estimate. Within a few weeks they had started, and in 2 months the whole project was completed. This included complicated tile work, new equipment, new waterfall design--pretty much everything was redone except digging the hole. Every day we had the same team of people working--led by hardworking foreperson Jerry-all in masks and company shirts. Replaced all equipment for (very) dated pool. Spent a lot of time (months) researching companies online, then on-site evaluations, estimates etc. Just replacing equipment seemed to be a job "too small" for most companies. LA Pool Builders was our pick...no job too small or too big (check out their amazing work/pics for big jobs). Focus is on service and simply being outstanding. So, we got the best equipment (did our research here, too), best customer service, excellent price. We got all the bells and whistles, automatic everything (run it all from smart phone). Jeff Heister was our point person with Brad as needed for software "whispering". They made it fun! Whole system installed in 48 hours, no issues. Importantly, and as a true test of any company, once they were finished and all the bills were paid, a few minor issues came up over the next several weeks. I have been calling around pool building companies to get ideas on how I can make an existing pool smaller or potentially demo the pool. I spoke to Patrick and he was very informative. I told him where my house was and unfortunately this company doesn't build pools in my area. However, Patrick still shared his extensive knowledge on the process for making a pool smaller, the range of costs, and what my options are. It's rare that someone spends the time sharing knowledge and cost estimates when they know that they won't be doing the job. I am very grateful for Patrick's time and if I lived in an area that this company did work in, I would certainly strongly consider hiring them. read more

We have done several construction projects on a couple of different properties and we can say without reservation that Brad is the best contractor we've ever worked with. Some have been good at their jobs - but a pain in the behind. Others have been nice guys, but terrible builders. Brad is that rare combination - a meticulous, tasteful, skilled, fairly-priced contractor and an incredibly calm, patient, all-round good guy. When someone is coming to your home almost every day for a couple of months or more, that's not a small point! He helped us design our infinity pool, and (patiently!) helped to choose the tiles, plaster colors and stucco colors as well as handling all of the hard-scaping including two retaining walls and a fire pit with built-in seating. We're delighted with all of it and it looks amazing. His team is just as professional and easy to work with as Brad is too. We have no "cons" to add to this list of "pros". We met with 8 pool contractors before going with LA Pool Builders. They were not the most expensive or the cheapest, but right in the middle. I can't say enough about the sales rep Jeff and his customer service that he provided to us prior to the build of the pool, as well as, throughout the process was exceptional! During the build of the pool, the second Jeff (project manager) provided the same level of customer experience as Jeff the sales rep. All of the sub-contractors were great as well! Our pool turned out better than expected and everyone talks about it. I can't recommend this company enough for you to choose for your pool build or any changes you may be doing for your pool.
