Was exploring the Northstar resort and came across this restaurant because of their happy hour sign. It was $5 margaritas so we had to try them. We ordered the nachos as well. In my opinion, the nachos were still a little pricy for it being a happy hour special but I guess it's considered a good price for its location on a ski resort. We tried both the regular and strawberry margaritas. The regular was alright but the strawberry was way too sweet. Honestly, both tasted like the margarita mix from Costco. Though $5 is a great price for a margarita, the quality was not the best. We also ordered their horchata but the flavor was lacking as well. It tasted more like milk with sugar. That was also $5 cause of happy hour. Again, it's still kinda pricy for it being a happy hour special but can't complain cause it's a resort. The nachos were okay too. It could've had more protein and evenly distributed sauces but it held us up until dinner. Service was okay. There wasn't much to really note on. We just ordered and that was it. The restaurant is a bit small. I think we're were only maybe 7 small tables in the back so once it got a little busy we felt like we had to leave fast to give others a seat to eat as well. read more

Ignore the one star reviews. Los Arcos delivers mostly good food at a decent price given a resort setting. It's not the best ever, but it is good. In our party, several had tacos that were good. The tostada salads were also a hit. The only real miss was the chile relleno which my friend referred to as corn dog like. I enjoyed both the hot and medium salsas. The staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. $5 beers during happy hour were also welcome. Los Arcos has one of the worst locations in the Northstar village, being one level below the summer activity that focuses around the roller skating rink and music. There's not much going on at that lower level during the summer so it offered a quiet meal option. read more

Review coming from a foodie: Food is ok, below average. I ordered al pastor (lacks flavor) burrito bowl. Not enough protein literally you can count by hand. Coming from San Francisco Mexican community their food is lack luster. Chips are chewy (a few days old). The only saving grace is the Modelo. I would stay away, not worth your money. I paid $29 for this so don't have to. Got rid of the food. Will not waste my calorie count in this. read more

I should have reviewed the recent reviews before I ordered, as I assumed it was the same Mexican food from a few years ago. After I ordered the food for take out, I saw the poor recent reviews. I think the decent overall review was due to the past owners. The tacos were cold and little meat and the two burritos we ordered were also bland. It wasn't busy and I waited outside for my order to be ready. After a while, I went inside and my order was waiting for me. I would have expected that they would pop their head outside to let me know as they were just sitting around and on their phones. Really wanted to like this place since it's walking distance from our room but I can't. I don't think anyone appreciates when restaurants make their to-go orders wrong. After receiving the to-go order, I walked 15 minutes back to the room and had to put the burrito on the stove to give it actual crisp and color. You could tell upon unwrapping that the tortilla was low quality and that the burrito would burst at any minute due to the cracks in it. Finally sat down to enjoy my $10 bean, rice and cheese burrito but was met with disappointment and a lack of texture. The rice was missing, the beans lacked flavor. I know they closed at 5pm but was hoping I could call and someone would pick up to rectify the issue. Nobody picked up and I was hungry after a day of skiing so I forced myself to eat it even though the lack of texture made me nauseous. Called today and was told the only thing they could offer would be making me a new burrito. I don't think I should have to walk 30+ minutes round trip in the cold and have to eat another poor quality burrito due to their mistake. If you choose to come here, do yourself a favor and eat part of your to-go burrito before leaving so you don't get the same disappointment. read more

Absolute losers! Talked to owner and he said they open at 11:00 am, 10 minutes prior to opening. I come back at 11:05 am doors are locked and I can see them inside. They don't even acknowledge me. Decent burrito place, think of line order style like Chipotle. The burritos were pretty good for mountain food but don't go expecting authentic Mexican flavors The carne asada burrito was good, the flavor you can really taste the oregano or the bay leaves whatever they put inside. I'd recommend putting a salsa for sure because it looks deathly dry without sauce. People working were nice, and the guy in the meat line appreciated that I knew what I wanted. What I didn't like was the limited options for salsa and the relatively bland taste of my carne asada (steak) super burrito. They did have a very limited selection of beer but none of it was mentioned anywhere in the menu leaving you to have to ask when they're obviously trying to churn through the orders. During the week, this is pretty much a lunch only place right now. We've been here for several days and I was finally able to try it. I had the carnitas burrito bowl and it was excellent. It's assembly line, kind of like Chipotle, but to be honest was 100% better than Chipotle. The carnitas were crispy and not overly fatty. All other items were very fresh. For a Mexican restaurant in a resort, this place is pretty good. We ordered the super burrito with al pastor (pork) meat and it was huge. As most restaurants have it, it was too salty for my taste. The shrimp coctel didn't have as much tomato base as I would have liked, but it was still very flavorful. A bit spicy with the diced chiles if you mind spicy. The pozole (hominy) soup was a special on that day and it was delicious. Wish it had radish to garnish but again, it was great for what and where we were looking. While in town staying up in Truckee, we took the gondola down to get some lunch at the village. Sadly it was a weekday so not a lot of options were open. We stopped at this Mexican place, it's like a chipotle where you order what you want and add your toppings. The burrito was pretty good, but the soup did not taste good at all it was just a broth with added chicken. If you are in a bind and need something quick you can go here. Best food at Northstar! If your coming for a day on the slopes for just to hang out in the area make sure to come on by for the best Mexican food in the area! Los Arcos has an amazing build your own bar. You let the staff know what of each ingredient you want and they build your dish right in front of you. Personal favorite is the chimichanga. They have all the meats you could want, beans of choice, rice, cheese and all the toppings from onions to cilantro, avocado (for an extra charge) to a variety of salsa and sauce. This is a individual run restaurant so you epic pass does not get you a discount, but the food is way worth it compared to what the lodge has to offer. They have no draft beer unfortunately, but do have bottle beer. Be prepared for a little line during peak hours since this is the best food in northstar village, and be sure to stop on by next time your taking a lunch break or dinner rest after the slopes. read more

Walked in to order. One of the worker's (owner's?) little kid was crawling all over the counter and opening the lid of some stock/sauce pot and peering in. Also, one of the worker's was eating out of a bowl behind the counter while talking next to the open steam table holding food being served to customers. I saw a chunk of something fly out of her mouth and fall to the floor. Hello:. It is against California law and against safe food hangling practices to be Eating when serving food to customers. - and what is with that kid climbing with his dirty shoes and grimy hands on food areas? So unsanitary!! ...and where is CPS to protect this kid from getting second degree burns? The other workers were too busy talking amongst each other to pay attention to the fact that they had customers. Convenience and the build your own concept is the best thing going for Los Arcos. It's a solid average at best with food, and I go here (and would return) only if staying at the Northstar village. If craving Mexican food, this will satisfy but don't expect anything eye opening. It's reasonably priced for the village (everything is inflated) so that's something to look forward to. $10 for nachos (which are completely loaded by the way) and they use nacho cheese (like that weird liquid orange stuff) which I opted out of. Instead I was able to get shredded cheese which is not heated so it doesn't melt. Hmmm. The enchilada is made to order on the flat top. I thought these are supposed to go in the oven? Food is 6/10; convenience is 9/10; price and value 8/10. Would return because I'm lazy and don't want to make the effort to go into Truckee for Mexican food. read more

Really really good Mexican food!! It's kind of like chipotle, where you can build your own meal as you walk down the counter. I got a tostada salad with white rice (sooo good) black beans, shredded chicken, mixed grilled veggies (bell pepper, tomato and onion), cheese, pico, guac and sour cream. Ok let start with the positives. We ordered the tostada salad, nachos and quesadillas. I am super "meat picky" and absolutely loved the chicken breast on the nachos and salad. The menu selection and customer service was equally great. The only negative and reason I took a star off was the chips in the nachos were very stale and had a bad taste. I was super pooped after a day of skiing and didn't feel like walking back so I just ate the chicken and guacamole off the nachos. Thank goodness that had good flavor. Enchiladas wow those definitely aren't enchilada all they did was warm up a tortilla and put meat inside roll it and put sauce on top ! Food is just plain and I could have done a way better job.
