The quality of the food and drink at Old Town Tap is outstanding. They make pizza that they bake in a Neapolitan style wood oven, and the quality of the operation is apparent in the product. The crust is almost cracker thin and crisp, the toppings are made from the best versions of local produce and meats. But it doesn't stop there: they have a fantastic Caesar salad (made with fresh romaine and radicchio) that is lightly dressed with a creamy dressing (that has a wonderful hint of a bite of raw garlic) and topped with a dusting of breadcrumbs and Parmesan. They serve roasted bone marrow, accompanied by a complete set of cornichons, mustard, and a caper jelly (as well as some arugula). Their Mac and cheese has a decadent béchamel sauce, and uses large shell pasta to absorb the rich cheeseiness of the dish. What's more, they offer high end soft serve ice cream with really nice toppings like cocoa nibs or hot fudge (very similar to the dessert offering at Zero Zero in SF) which is just delightful to have. They also have a majorly impressive selection of liquors (and especially mezcal). The cocktails that I've had here have been great.

Came on a Friday night, the wait times for a group of 4 was about an hour and for a table of 2 was about 30 minutes. The beers and drinks are good, the food is okay.

Super Fast Service and Great Pizza. Warm olive appetizers were good, but be aware ALL of the Olives still had their pits, so eating them was a bit tedious.

Wow, wow WOW, our first bites in Truckee and it did not disappoint. We came around 3pm on a Friday afternoon. The inside is quite dimmed but good, because it was a hot summer day. The AC was sooooo appreciated. We ordered a lot! And no complaints about anything. Not one bit! -bone marrow -mushroom Mac and cheese -Brussels sprouts -Caesar salad (anchovies on top were so good) Service was great and so attentive. Street paid parking.

mediocre by any other standards. by tahoe standards I suppose good. Pizza dough pretty cardboardy. real simple pies. the sausage and meatball were just there. the bacon egg I thought would give carbonara but was more like breakfast. I wanted to try the salmon but they were out sad. I liked the caesar but hated the chicken. was expecting a grilled chicken but received cold deli chicken cut into thick strips. server and hostess was nice and good came out in time even tho it was a packed house. I liked the soft sere but it wasn't that creamy was more iced soft serve.

Chain control for those Tahoe bound seemed to be a hit or miss this past winter. Even though you may be traveling through on a sunny day, if it's right after a storm, chain control may not lift over the summit until late afternoon. A normal 4 hours from the Bay Area can easily become over 9 hours like it was for us. I haven't stopped at Truckee for 30 years, but it was such a nice break for a late lunch at Old Town Tap. Sausage and kale Mac n cheese and mushroom pizza being pulled from the oven I had a view of from our table were both excellent and was the warming comfort food I needed before continuing the trek.

Solid spot in Truckee! Tons of good options to choose from and solid ambiance for date night or if you want to come and check out a game! The Caeser salad was very good and all the pizzas looked very solid!

What a beautiful Day to sit outside and soak up the sun and delicious food. We started with Sauvigon Blanc, lucky dog and warm olives. Moved on to Daou Cab, meatball pizza and a kale/quinoa salad. Server (Sean) was AMAZING and never felt rushed. 10/10

Interior was relatively clean, service was friendly. The Brussels sprouts were good (4/5) and the pizza was fair (3/5). The cheese, sauce, and meatballs had good flavor but the crust was bland. We're unlikely to return in the future.

$33 cheese and charcuterie board. Rather sparse

I came here with girlfriends for a friends birthday lunch. To start, we got the cheese and charcuterie board with flatbread. For $33, it seemed rather sparse- a huge board with not a ton on it. We each got drinks- the margaritas were enjoyable, and I got a glass of wine. For entrees, we split a pizza, another got Mac and cheese and I got the kale salad. I should've read the salad description better because the dressing was really spicy! I didn't recall reading about anything spicy but later saw that it said a shisito vinaigrette. The dressing ruined it in my opinion, if I ordered again, I'd ask for a different dressing. Service was average. We sat outside and the ambiance was lovely- people watching and also enjoying talking with each other

Stopped here for lunch during a recent trip to Tahoe and they were able to accommodate a group of 12 easily and very quickly! Very spacious interior and friendly staff. Food came out very fast and service was quick. Prices were fairly reasonable although portions / pizza size was smaller than I expected. I liked the sausage and kale mac and cheese -- it was super flavorful and the top was crispy. Thought the potato pizza was okay (too salty on bites with bacon and flavorless otherwise) and the potato chunks were a bit random. The crust wasn't as flavorful as I expected either.

Shawn is an amazing bartender, craft cocktail ninja with exceptional customer service skills and a tremendous presence when my girl and I walked through the door. They hired the right man. It's this kind of customer service and feel like your family that makes a restaurant iconic. To also make a restaurant Iconic is the taste and texture of their food. They have an insane sourdough bread recipe that they put on their pizzas is off the chain. Pizza is competition grade world MainStage worthy. I got the Margarita and added double topping pepperoni. A1 taste and texture. I eat at 100s of restaurants and I'm a food retard. I only review restaurants that aren insanely good or restaurants that I want to burn down. This restaurant is not the latter. 5 STARS ACROSS THE BOARD. mn

The interior is dimly lit, calm, and still very inviting--something you really have to experience in person. The drinks and mocktails are so well crafted that it's almost shocking--you take a sip, then look back at the menu like, "Wait... that's all it cost?" and then back at the bartender like, "Hold on... you made this perfectly for me?" We sat at the bar top and, like everyone else, got caught up in our phones trying to post everything in real time. But Amanda, who was making our drinks, could spark a conversation out of thin air. She was a total pro at keeping us engaged and enjoying our time, all while making drinks and taking care of everyone else around us.

The standout of…read morethe night was definitely Amanda the mixologist--she was absolutely great, incredibly fun to talk to, and an overall delight to be around while making our drinks. The atmosphere itself is on the smaller side, but it fits the cozy, hidden speakeasy vibe perfectly. That being said, the pricing is a bit tough to swallow. I ordered a drink for $22 that tasted good, but overall, the drinks here are just way too expensive for what you get. They also had live music playing during our visit; it was good lounge background music that added a nice vibe to the room, but it wasn't anything spectacular or something to get overly excited about. It's a cool spot to check out for the ambiance, but the high drink prices keep it at a flat three stars for me.

I'll say right off, I'm giving them 4-stars since I had time to just grab one drink and a snack. I'm sure when I come back and can hang out for longer, the next review will easily bump up to the 5-star level. Firstly, this is a cool hole in the wall, very nice ambiance, and set back in a way that makes it feel a bit like a speakeasy. The decor is very stylish and atmospheric, with plenty of comfy chairs and spaces at the bar, and the staff were quite friendly. And while I'm not the biggest fan of these in here, the bar has many countertop video poker machines, should you be inclined to play. This is a full bar, so they have plenty of selections for wine, beer, and spirits. But the main attraction are their house cocktails. Only had time to try one on this visit, but that Saffron Sazerac was very interesting indeed, and definitely makes me want to swing by and try more of their menu. And should you need something to snack on, they also have a small menu of bar bites, which is just enough to hit the spot. And as for prices, I found them pretty darn reasonable, especially given this is Tahoe, we're talking about. So yeah, all said, I have been fairly impressed with Gaviota. Definitely going to keep them on my short list of drinking spots on North Shore, and I think anyone looking for a classy beverage will love it here too. Hope to swing by again soon.
