I've been coming to Los Burritos Tapatios for over 15 years, and it's just as good today as it was the first time I walked in. It's one of those places that never disappoints. Their steak burritos are absolutely incredible--honestly one of my favorite foods in the world. The steak is always flavorful, the portions are generous, and every bite reminds me why I keep coming back year after year. And I have to mention the red hot sauce they serve in the restaurant. I'm completely obsessed with it. It has the perfect balance of heat and flavor, and it takes an already amazing meal to another level. If you're looking for consistently great Mexican food with friendly service and food you can't stop thinking about, this is the place. Truly the worst service of any place I've been to in a long time. Been going to to this place for over 5 years and while the burritos are solid (for the western burbs) the service has gone so far down hill. It's not even new people, the same people have been working there ever since I started going. Truly rude and completely don't give a crap about the customer. They have a GARBAGE attitude in general even when ordering and asking a question. My daughter has a peanut allergy and we just called to ask if they use peanuts in their food. A normal response would be Yea, no, we can't guarantee cross contamination or it's in something we don't make here. The first time we called they just said we don't know, stopped talking for about a minute and hung up. The second time they said no, maybe, and then I don't know. When we asked if they could ask a manager they just said we don't know. The last thing I kind of understand but find annoying. They now only give two small cups of salsa (not enough) and charge for additional sauces. I get businesses need margin but you could be nicer about how you tell customers. The food isn't good enough for the crap staff and service they provide. No wonder they have such low ratings. Too bad I can't give a 0 star. read more

This is a solid spot for greasy & delicious Mexican food. The menu is fairly short, but it doesn't need to be long - it has everything you need. If you dine in, they provide free chips and salsa (the bright green one is my favorite!) while you wait for your meal. A word of caution: the large fountain drinks are MASSIVE. You definitely get your money's worth. Inside, it's nothing fancy - not necessarily a first date spot, but it's clean & well maintained. I went to this restaurant and ordered tacos to go, but while they were preparing my food, I decided I wanted to eat there instead. When my order was ready, I asked for the complimentary chips since every other table received them. The waitress told me I couldn't have them because my order was originally placed as takeout. I explained that I was no longer taking the food to go and would be dining in, but she still said I would have to pay for the chips. I ended up buying the chips and sat down to eat. After that, the service was extremely disappointing. The waitress checked on every other table, offered refills, and brought ice water to others, but completely ignored my table the entire time. Extremely disappointing first (and last) experience. I placed an order through UberEats, which said it would be ready by 1:50 PM. I arrived at 2:00 PM only to find that the staff hadn't even looked at the order on their tablet. The employee then manually wrote it down for the cook, and when I asked how long it would take, she told me 10 minutes. I ended up waiting 35 minutes for my food. She also forgot my drink, and I had to wait another 5 minutes while she got distracted with new Uber orders. I then politely asked if I could switch the red salsa for green. Instead of responding, the worker aggressively reached into my bag to grab the salsa, nearly causing my food to spill. I had to stop her and ask, "What are you doing?" She later returned with the green salsa and just placed it on the counter without saying a word. This level of service is unacceptable. The food was mid at best -- no real flavor, nothing memorable. I'm leaving 2 stars because of the service. My son was in earlier in the day asked cilantro and limes, got double cilantro...I came in later placed my order asked for onion and limes on the side..got tomatoes and onions. Maria was SO helpful, the other wicked lady working was rude and mean. This happened on 4/9 orders # 62&64 notice one got and tip and one didn't? Kindness goes a long way? And I still didn't get the limes that we came in twice and ordered smh. The tacos and quesadilla were ok, taco was very fatty and the quesadilla was very small , but it was for a kid so I can't complain. I just wish your cashier was a bit more friendly. When I asked more than once if the limes were included and was assured that the were to only get home and they weren't is very disappointing. Please do better!!! read more

Best Mexican you can get in the downers grove area hands down been a regular since 2017 and it hasn't changed one bit. Good service, clean restaurant, and great food. All the one star reviews are obviously a bunch of lazy cry babies ordering out. If you come here and take a seat I can guarantee a good time with some good food. So my wife told me about this place and my sister in law comes here all the time for their burritos. So I figured I would give it a try. Their steak tacos are pretty good just be prepared if you order lettuce on your tacos they pile it on, their tamales tasted fresh and the rice wasn't to bad. But the Avocado Salsa is amazing. It's fairly priced for the area that the restaurant is located at. We would definitely come again when we carve authentic Mexican food. read more

I've been coming here the better part of 10 years and have not been disappointed. The food is dependable and the service is good. I'm not much of a burrito guy, so I usually go for tacos or tortas. Carne Asada is my jam, and they do it nicely here. Order at the counter and they will bring you your food (you'll pay in advance) - CCs are accepted (thank goodness). The interior is brightly colored (and brightly lit). I'm guessing they are putting their money towards ingredients and staff pay rather than the furniture. Today I tried something on their menu a bit different - the Milanesa Torta. The beef in this sandwich was pounded flat to within an inch of its life, breaded, and fried. The edges were crispy, and the beef had a nice flavor. They used an awful lot of crema (see picture) which became mixed in with the shredded lettuce. Good for now eating, but not so good for later eating. Overall, though, the torta was pretty delicious. There are a few Los Burritos Tapatios in the area, so YMMV if you go to a different location (they might be even better). Recommended. read more

I enjoy the food a lot, it is my favorite spot to get a burrito. I am not going to say it is high-end establishment because that is not what it is. It is a spot for a quick bite that does not break the bank. The food is consistent, the menu is diverse with all sorts of different Mexican favorites. The service is fast, and food comes out quick. I have tried Tortas, Tacos, Burritos, and many other things on the menu but my favorite is always the steak burrito. It is packed with meat, comes out quickly, the house sauces they have are excellent. They range from not spicy at all to very spicy. I was looking for good Mexican food while I was near 75th/Cass Avenue. I didn't find it here. Steak burrito with sour cream and no tomato: Meat was overcooked, a little hard, dry, and crispy, kinda like it's been sitting on the grill for a while but yet somehow it still wasn't hot or even pretty warm. It wasn't cold but certainly not the temp of a freshly cooked burrito. Since the meat wasn't hot or even really that warm the cheese and sour cream stayed cold which gave the burrito an overall cold-ish feel. Not ok. Most of the time a burrito at a joint like this is super greasy and ends up pretty soggy by the end. The meat was so dry there wasn't even a drop of grease on the plate afterwards. Price was reasonable but I'd rather pay more and have a good burrito somewhere else. read more
