My wife and I have visited Los Comales a few times. Always with a fantastic experience. I recently took my son and daughter here. It was my son's second time. He loved it as much as his first visit. There was a live band playing. Anna was our server. Between her and Benny the experience was incredible. Anna is such a good server! Sweet, attentive, knowledgeable, and funny. Benny is also attentive to any concerns or needs. He is a pleasure to talk to. We ordered Cameron's A La Diana, Chimichangas, and Quesabirrias. Along with margaritas. The food was prepared, excellently with a great flavor. The margaritas were delicious. No complaints! The mood in the whole restaurant with the band playing was a great vibe. Some family members told me how good this place is. So we decided to try it and order online. On Cinco de Mayo, I kind of knew Mexican restaurants would be busy, so I ordered online at 6:30pm and knew there would be a delay. The service they use told gave me an ETA of 7:05pm. I arrived about 7:15pm and the place had so many people lining up outside. I was able to get in and ask about my order.I was told it wasn't ready yet. I waiting quite a while and ended up talking to another customer who placed her order at 6:50pm. We were checking our orders on our phones and my order never changed the time it would be ready. I actually got a notification that my order was confirmed by the restuarant at that it would be ready soon. The other customer I was speaking to said her phone told her that her order would be ready tomorrow! We waited a bit and then her order was ready... I was not happy. At this point I had asked different people if my order was ready. At 7:40pm someone finally said my order was being packed up. It was 8:00pm, when my order was handed to me... I was very disappointed by the ordering. They weren't able to keep up with the orders they received. It seemed to me that the smaller orders were finished before the larger orders. When we got home, the food was not great. I ordered shrimo fajitas and while the shrimp was cooked, the vegetables (onions and bell peppers) were all raw... the sopes my kid got were soggy all the way though... Suffice to say... Poor Food Quality and Even Worse Customer Service. 03/13/2026 I ordered a veggie chimichanga and was very clear about my requests. I explained that I do not eat meat and asked for grilled vegetables (bell peppers and onions) as a substitute. I specifically requested that the tortilla be fried longer so it would be crispy because I did not want a soggy burrito. I also asked for very light refried beans and no sour cream. What I received was the complete opposite. The chimichanga was greasy, soggy, and falling apart the moment I unwrapped it. I paid for sloppy nasty mess! I literally had to hold it with two hands because it was tearing like a wet paper towel. When I picked it up to take a bite, it came apart. That is unacceptable for something that is supposed to be fried and crispy. The vegetables were not grilled, they were slimy and raw NOT GRILLED as requested. There were barely any beans, and ingredients I did not request were added. Overall, it was a tasteless sloppy mess. I took two bites, tried to give it a chance, even put it in the oven to try to salvage it, and it was still a bunch of SLIMY SLOP. I ended up throwing it away. When I called to explain the issue, I spoke directly with the manager and had to explain the situation multiple times. Instead of offering to remake the order properly or provide a refund, I was told to dig the food out of my trash and take a picture and bring the picture the next day. That response was rude and dismissive and completely unaccommodating. A manager should be focused on resolving issues, not making customers feel disregarded. I paid $12.39 for what was supposed to be a treat. Instead, I received one of the worst chimichangas I've ever had. Customers who clearly communicate their order deserve to receive what they asked for especially when specific requests are acknowledged and agreed to. Very disappointed and beyond disgusted. I'm so glad I ignored the bad reviews and gave this place a try! It's an unassuming taqueria in a strip mall. I visited on a Saturday at lunch, and service was exceptional. The salsa that comes to the table with the chips is so good, and the tacos are on point! Hidden in a strip mall, this Mexican restaurant serves up great food and great service. Server, Martin, was very nice. He started us out with chips and phenomenal salsa. We had a grilled chicken burrito, and tacos (one steak and one chicken). Both of us added rice and beans for a $2.50 upcharge. Everything was awesome. Generous portions. One note --actual prices charged were slightly higher than what they had on the menu. Nothing drastic, but just an fyi. Restaurant was immaculate. Don't like to leave any (-) review but this restaurant has NOT been consistent since it opened. Initially it was outstanding but then each time I visited, the size, portion, display but more importantly the flavor has been different, no consistency and worse, each time it has been more and more awful. This should never happen with a restaurant. When you/we go back to revisit, it should be the same if not better. Sadly, there is no consistency at all. The flavors change the textures change. Example: Carne en su Hugo. .... It's a Mexican staple but this dish never has large chunks of Chipotle. What is that BTW!!?? I don't know WTH is happening with this restaurant. Updating my review to 4 stars. The reason I gave 5 before is because the quesobirria tacos were amazing with the cheese melted on the outside and seemed like something I could not get anywhere else. After ordering them several more times after they first opened, they stopped doing the outside in cheese and then they're just ok. I like that this place has promotions (sometimes through Instacart). Their tacos are good, but if you order the regular ones, they are quite small. It's an upgraded charge for flour or large corn tortilla. Now that they took over the old Krave space, there's plenty of space to sit down and wait for a takeout order. I haven't yet dined in. read more

LEFT HIGH AND DRY This Mexican restaurant on Weber Rd made one too many carryout mistakes, then compounded matters with mediocre food. While my in-laws are in town, my wife and I wanted to treat them to some tasty local Mexican fare. I (perhaps foolishly) suggested trying a new place--Los Comales in Bolingbrook. And why not? They're close by and opened August 2024 in a strip mall between a shawarma place and Fry the Coop. After returning home with a $70 to-go order, it immediately became apparent that they'd forgotten my order of grilled jalapeños. In the grand scheme of things, it was a $2 loss but the cost of my mental and emotional anguish was easily in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Will they ever compensate me for my pain & suffering due to lack of jalapeños? Doubtful. Moving on, the queso fundido con chorizo ($6) was dry and seemed light on actual cheese. Worse yet, it didn't come with chips or tortillas so we had no choice but to improvise. Thankfully, I found an extra burrito wrap in the pantry and was able to divvy it up amongst us so we could eat the queso fundido with something other than a goddamn fork. (( sidenote: on Grubhub the queso fundido con chorizo appears as "cheese fondue with chorizo", which I've never in my life seen described that way. Somewhere, some Mexican abuela is feigning a heart attack because of this horrifying menu description. Queso fundido is absolutely NOT fondue, Grubhub, you gringo idiotas! )) The quesabirria was also dry, even though the dipping juice was delicious (so good, in fact, that I opted to keep 2 extra tubs of the birria "gravy" in the fridge for a future meal). The dinner came with rice & beans and wasn't a bad value for $18. The general consensus was that we've all had better birria elsewhere. Tacos al pastor were fine ($3/ea). On Tuesdays, they have tacos on special but the stipulations are cash-only and dine-in only, and since neither myself nor my wife roll with enough paper currency to take advantage of this promo, it's unlikely we'll ever know how much $$ we'd save by doing this. The elote ($4.50) was dry too, unsurprising considering the rest of the meal. It tasted so-so, not bad enough to warrant being thrown out, but not good enough to be shared with the group. Perhaps the only thing that wasn't dry was the flan ($4.50), which we thought was average at best. * TL;DR * First impressions make a difference, and my first impression of Los Comales is that they need to do better. A lot better. I can find it within me to forgive them for all the other minor whoopsies and indiscretions (semi-dry food, no silverware) but I CANNOT forgive them for completely spacing on my 'jalapeños toreados'. I wanted them so badly, got charged for them, and was left hanging. BOOOOOOOO. *angry white boy noise* It's obvious they didn't bother to double-check the carryout bag or verify that the order receipt matched the contents. Not being given anything to eat the queso fundido with was a huge oversight. Dry or flavorless food originates with the kitchen, but forgetting stuff with an order is squarely the fault of management. Maybe we'll have a better experience at Dos Bros down the street.....or we could just continue hitting up Taco Dale, the gold standard for Mexican food around these parts. With enough options in the area, I see no need to roll the dice by coming back here. read more

Been here many times, from when they first opened and I always thought they were very good, but now this will be my last time going there, I have been very disappointed the last couple of visits, the meat is now just crumbles of burnt ends like it was the last of the pile of meat they put on grill no taste at all, and some of us know Los Comales for their Jalapeños, carrots and cauliflower, that is now gone, it's sad but I know other places where the meat is very flavorful and not burnt ends. Some of you will need to try Los Comales for yourself, I hope you are more satisfied then I was good luck. read more

I had a very disappointing experience here this past Saturday. It took a long time for a waiter to even come to our table to take our order. When my food finally arrived, the steak in my torta was burnt and the bread was extremely dry. It was not enjoyable at all. My son ordered fries and we were told they had run out -- yet just two minutes later, another waitress brought out plates of fries to a different table. That was frustrating and confusing. To make matters worse, I was charged for double meat even though I never requested it on my other son's tacos. Didn't realize it until I saw the receipt the following day and actually paid attention that there was a charge for double meat. The cashier also failed to mention that there is a surcharge for using a credit card, which should absolutely be disclosed upfront. Overall, the service, food quality, and transparency were very disappointing. I won't be returning. read more

The quesebirria taco was super cheesy, flavorful and the consumme was so so good! A diner I loved is gone--RIP diners, they're becoming dinosaurs--and now it's Los Camales, a Mexican spot. I got the chicken taco salad--healthy, solid. My daughter got a quesadilla, but it was a bit small for a dinner. My wife tried one of their house dishes (can't remember the name, but she liked it). The bar looks like a great spot--margaritas probably good, could see watching the Bears game here. I have not been able to go in person, however I contacted Los Comales Bolingbrook for a private event and both their customer service and food was amazing! In the early conversations of the event, Roxana was very kind and attentive at answering all of my questions. On the day of the event, the taco truck arrived on time as planned and made sure to stay for the duration as contracted. Our guests loved the food and the concept of walking up to the taco truck. We had the pleasure of dinning at this establishment and I must say it was outstanding. From the food , service and atmosphere it is one of the best in the area. I have a child with food allergies and the owners Roxanna and Manuel along with their manager benny went above and beyond to accomidate her. Most mexican resuturants turn us away but they made sure she would be able to eat and joy. The entire family enjoyed their meals. I had the steak tacos, barbacoa and cured(cecina) steak. My daughters had the quesabirria and steak tacos. We slammed them down. Their house made sauces and salsa is the best iv had. Well we have visited Los Comales 4 times now and have been consistently pleased with our meal so we thought it is time for a review. The food seems authentic and seasoned very well. OMG!! Killer new little Mexican restaurant in Bolingbrook! I think their prices were great for everything you got. I got their Quesabirria tacos with the little consommé dipping sauce which was fantastic! My husband got their cheese quesadillas with the rice and beans which were just great as well. They really need a good place to go to to pick up the food. Seemed a little awkward standing around the front counter waiting with all the people running back and forth and people standing waiting to order. Just a suggestion.. The food was great and we were having a really good experience at first, but that changed when I found multiple hairs inside the ice cube of my drink. When I brought it to the manager's attention, he didn't seem to believe me, nor did he appear to care. Instead of trying to address the situation, he continued with his night and never checked back on our table. Dined here for the first time on a Saturday night around 9:30pm and the place was packed. You seat yourself and we lucked out and got a table before the restaurant was completely filled. The food came quickly and piping hot which I appreciated given how busy they were. The staff and service were excellent and the servers did an awesome job clearing away the finished plates in a timely fashion. My friend and I started with the steak nachos which came piled high with meat and toppings - they were some of the best nachos I've ever had. We then got a quesabirria taco, fish taco (I got grilled and my friend got battered), barbacoa taco, and a steak flauta. The quesabirria was rich and flavorful. The barbacoa taco was tender and yummy. Both of our fish tacos left much to be desired - I wasn't crazy about the tilapia and there was a lot going on with the toppings and chipotle sauce which caused the tortilla to get soggy. The flauta was bland given how many other flavorful dishes we ordered. We also had the horchata which was delicious! When I went to pay at the counter, there was nowhere to sign or leave a tip so next time I would bring some cash or ask if I can leave a tip on the card. Overall, great service, generous portions, reasonable prices, and tasty food. Love having a late-night dining option that isn't fast food! Los Comales is exactly what Bolingbrook needed! read more
