On Saturday a girlfriend and I went to Los Comales for lunch before we headed out to Market Days and some shopping. As always they didn't disappoint. I ordered the small queso, mainly because of their flour tortilla chips for both of us. I had the large beef fajita nachos. They have the best fajitas in town, always tender and cooked perfectly! Which I know better than to order because I never eat the entire plate and I always forget my leftovers in the car or on the table. This time it was the former. She ordered the shrimp cocktail and the small order of shrimp stuffed jalapenos. Of course I couldnt go and not order the frozen margarita! Service was also as always fast and great! read more

It is some sort of store bought bag chips that are basically TONS of broken pieces. The red salsa was the only thing good about our whole meal . We were visiting Rockport and we're in the mood for margaritas. Wow! It was a perfect blend of tequila, lime, and etc. and the food was worth the wait (it was totally crowded). I had the gigantic flautas and my boyfriend had the carne guisada. But before any of that arrived we were treated to the best chips and salsa I've had in a long time. We ended up trying this place because we were staying locally and this was the highest rated Mexican Restaurant around. It wasn't the worst, but it definitely wasn't as good as what you can find in Austin or San Antonio. My Mom ordered the chicken and beef fajitas which came as slices of unseasoned beef and chicken breast served over a bed of onions. Had they cooked the meat with the onions and thrown in some peppers, it probably would have been more enjoyable. My food, the Mexican Plate, was not bad per se. They just got the order wrong and I ended up with three components of ground beef, which was not what I was looking for when I ordered a combination plate. We received cold fajitas, cold rice, tasteless charro beans. Do not order the prickly pear Margarita it was just syrup with no liquor and the service was horrible tables that arrived after us were served ahead of us. We ordered a large Combo Fajitas to split between the two of us and it was a HUGE order! Horrible experience at Los Comales. Waiter was rude, messy and all over the place. We ordered an appetizer and it came out with all of our food. We were rarely checked on and not until I finally got up to speak with a manager was the waiter helping us for to go boxes. Had to ask the manager for the check because our waiter was no where to be found and to top it off when bringing up the issue to the manager she didn't seem to care. No apology just a quick "I'll talk to her". Unacceptable treatment! Never going back this place doesn't even deserve the star rating. read more

Came here during vacation and glad that we did. The person at the front was not really feeling it but past that this place is a legit 5 stars. The food is great, the waitress was awesome and the service was quick. Margarita (frozen and rocks) didn't suck at all. Both salsas were a hit (red was spicer than green). Picked this place at random and boy, oh boy, was it good. All 3 dinners were great. Shrimp stuffed jalapeños were huge. Only 4 in a large dinner but still too much to eat. Each one was as big as an apple and loaded with cheese and a big shrimp. Nice crunchy crust. Flauntas were a surprise. Not hard and dry like at most places and they had cheese inside too. Very tasty and so were the beans and rice. Also ordered our "safe" order of cheese enchiladas and they were as good as everything else. Chips and salsa were I clouded and were very good. Can't wait to drive all the way back from Houston just to eat there again. So good! Plus the girl who took our order over the phone couldn't have been nicer. All around great experience. read more

Came in on Sunday to order a simple taco, had to wait a fricking hour to even get sat, once I was in, waited 20 minutes to even get a drink of FLAT SODA, my waitress was less than hospitle, even agressive, couldn't even access their "free" WiFi after I had to ask for a password to use it, as apparently it want up in the main room, only their bar section, once I got my taco it wasn't what I ordered, and the one guguy they had serving the food who looked like he was about to collapse cause he was the ONLY one serving food, even though they had 3 waitresses sitting at the front just gossiping with one another was nice enough to fix it for me in a flash, when I got the CORRECT version of what I ordered, the meat tasted gamey, old, and barely passable for what they would serve in a prison!
