As a Vietnam Veteran and with many deployments under my belt, not much riles me! This display did! What I saw was the U.S. FLAG improperly displayed up against the wall. It appeared like someone had stapled the flag to the wall. Upon inspection, two sides of the Flag were being held to a piece of wood by Spring clips. The Flag might also have been touching the floor! But I discovered that it was touching the Base of the staff. Not good! It upset me. I called over the Manager, a very nice Lady who provides superb Customer Service. I explained my military background and mentioned that 3 Generations have served our Country. We are proud Americans who served America in many Wars and Conflicts. She was not aware of the Flag Display problem. She stated her Son was serving in the Air Force and that she would bring the Flag display up to higher Management. It's amazing to me that no one saw that, including me and my wife as we have dined here at least every few weeks. I pray the Display will be corrected properly. The U.S. Flag must hang freely and NOT touch anything, including the ground. If anyone is not sure about how to Display the Flag, ask the Boys Scouts or a WWII, Korea or Vietnam Veteran. My qualifications as an Expert and Experienced Food and Service Critic; I have over 65 years of Management Experience. I have a College Degree with a BS in Management and have been trained in two Culinary Schools, to include on the job training at other venues. I've managed full service as well as fast food restaurants and have had my own successful Catering business. We went to eat here tonight. The service was not great. We ordered an appetizer but didn't get it until just before the food was coming out. Our waitress was consumed by the people at the table next to us. Apparently people she knew so she obviously forgot about us. So we said to her we really wanted our appetizer before the meal and she looked at us and said mmmhmmm and tried to turn and walk away and I said well we would like to have it taken off our bill. She looked at us and grabbed the appetizer off our table and threw it in the trash. While we watched her. I thought it was rude and unprofessional. Which I don't know why I should expect something better but I did. She gave no explanation said no apology and just dismissed what we were saying. I don't know that I would go back because of the bad service. I might go back for the food but it wasn't great either. read more

We have been coming to Rockport for vacation for over 15 years, and I have always looked forward to coming to Los Comales for a really good margarita. That is NO LONGER the case. Now under new management since 2013, Los Comales is no longer the place to come for even an average margarita. The former management offered an extensive tequila menu and custom made each margarita to order; the current management makes the margarita in a mediocre batch mix and serves them to customers. We asked about the margaritas and they told us they no longer did the custom drinks. So disappointing to see that this is no longer a selling feature of the restaurant. If you come to town looking for an excellent margarita, don't bother coming here. Los Comales food is still reasonably good under the new management, and the chips and salsa are fresh. read more

This place seems to be hit or miss lately. I've always enjoyed the food, but the service is sometimes lacking. A couple of times I've been 15 - 30 minutes before closing and they said the kitchen was CLOSED!! What's up with that?? Food was ok, but they charge too much for too little. I got the enchiladas, they sauce wasn;t very good, the rest was just alright. The server wasn't very friendly. Honestly, if you want GOOD mexican food tha's TWICE as cheap here in rockport, go to Jalisco's. They are delicious and cheap! read more
