Today was a cold, lazy Sunday, and we were craving some delicious comfort food. We've been to Los Gallos Taqueria several times before and have always left satisfied, so it was an easy choice. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, and it did not disappoint! There was a generous amount of shrimp, and the cucumber and onion were perfectly crunchy. As always, everything tasted incredibly fresh. We also ordered the carne asada California burritos, which we absolutely love. The fries inside are such a great touch and make the burrito extra delicious. Of course, we had to get the carne asada fries too. This is a family favorite and everyone always ends up picking at them while saying "mmmmm" with every bite. The fries themselves are seriously so good. I placed the order over the phone for pickup, and the gentleman who helped me was very friendly and made sure everything was correct before I hung up. When I arrived a bit early, I sat inside and noticed the restaurant was clean and the staff was welcoming. Great food, great service, and consistently a wonderful experience. Tacos are big and good price the marinated chicken has really good flavor same with the grilled chicken. I got the Tijuana tacos and I'm not sure if it was the salsa or guacamole but it was pretty spicy. Menu has good variety. The chile relleno plate was good portion and flavorful. If you're from the Newark area, you know there are two very similar taquerias right across the street from each other. You have the OG "Taqueria Los Gallos" on Newark Boulevard and then you have the newer "Los Gallos Taqueria" on Jarvis. The menu and food are almost identical so I assume they are connected somehow. This particular place (Los Gallos Taqueria) doesn't have all the salsa options as the OG one and strangely offers Asian food in addition to the Mexican food which is kinda weird. I had the loaded fries shrimp and they were the best! I was expecting the usual charge you extra for shrimp and get 2-3 shrimp hiding somewhere but there were tons of shrimp. Some fries were crispy some were deliciously soaked with sour cream, guacamole and smothered with cheese. I was only able to get through half of the giant portion and had the rest for another meal. Ordering was quick and easy and the person taking the order was super friendly. The restaurant itself is really nicely done, clean and pretty big. Great place to hang and have a meal. We didn't use the drive through but it's an option if you don't want to go in. I would highly recommend it and will be returning. read more

We appreciate the occasional DoorDash deals! I wish DoorDash made it easier to DoubleDash EZBACHI (Newark) and Los Gallos Taqueria. Tijuana Style tacos with Al Pastor meat are go-to. It's easy to get here from the from Union City BART station on the AC transit 200 bus. The drive thru service is convenient for online order pickups. read more

TACO TUESDAY? HOW ABOUT QUESABIRRIA WEEKEND Two is better than one. Why have one specific item for one day when you can have a specific item for two days? Lately what's luring me to Mexican cuisine is quesabirria, which for me is becoming an addition. The reason is quesabirria is not served at every Mexican eatery. If quesabirria is available I'm going to order it. Los Gallos Taqueria is a prime example as this eatery doesn't serve quesabirria every day, but only on Saturdays and Sundays. The first time I came to Los Gallos Taqueria was the last Sunday for breakfast before New Year's Day. I was planning to order quesabirrias only. When I looked at the menu it also lists birria bowl. I asked the cashier what is in this dish. Even though she described it I wasn't sure what consisted of a birria bowl, but I decided to order it. Why not try something new? Besides the birria bowl I ordered three quesabirrias. When the quesabirrias and birria bowl were served at the same time I was shocked what I ordered. The birria bowl was a soup that consists ingredients of the quesabirria without the cheese. However hot corn tortillas are served with the birria bowl. For breakfast I ordered a big bowl of hot soup and three quesabirrias. How was I going to finish eating both items? The birria bowl was refreshing item because that Sunday morning was cold. The quesabirrias had that crunchy texture I'm accustomed. At the end I finished eating the three quesabirrias, but not the birria bowl, which I took home along with the corn tortillas. I came back to Los Gallos Taqueria two weeks later on a Saturday for lunch. I asked the cashier what is a birria plate. She said beans and rice. Even though I didn't envision what the birria plate looked like I ordered it. As my last visit I ordered three quesabirrias. As with the birria bowl the birria plate also included hot corn tortillas. The birria plate wasn't as intimating as the birria bowl in terms of portion. In fact I finished eating the whole birria plate. The quesabirrias I ate were better than last time because the consommé was more flavorful than my last visit. I mainly came to Los Gallos Taqueria because of the quesabirria yet I was presently surprised by the other item. In terms of the birria items served only on Saturdays and Sundays at Los Gallos Taqueria I would rate them in this order: 1) Quesabirria 2) Birria Bowl 3) Birria Plate If I am craving for quesabirria on a weekend or birria bowl on a cold weekend morning I will go to Los Gallos Taqueria. read more

We live across the bridge and we come here just for their delicious food! Their service is amazing and all of the workers are super friendly and approachable. My favorite foods come from the EZBACHI menu but every now and then we order the tacos Tijuana style and they never disappoint. Better than I expected! Was not expecting much since it is a chain, but quality and taste was good. The tacos are a decent size and they don't skimp on the meat. The pastor had good flavor and the asada wasn't dry. The quesabirria meat was a little dry and the taco did get a bit soggy after a while. The consome had good flavor. My only complaint is that their salsas really suck!! It's very liquid-y and bland and not spicy at all!! I mean you do get free chips so I guess you can't complain. After going on a ride along with my Hubby to one of the properties he manages and assessing the damage caused by the recent rains, nothing makes you feel better than a taco! So tacos we shall have. I ordered the al a carte beef taco and my Hubby ordered the taco bowl. The service was quick and the cashier was very friendly. I did notice the dining area was tidy. Hubs got the vegetarian taco bowl which had tomatoes, beans, salsa and cheese. He totally enjoyed the bowl and was pleasantly pleased to find he was full after eating it. Of course not too full to finish my last few bites of taco. I ordered the taco which came with a crunchy taco shell, cheese, onions, cilantro and shredded beef. The side was a rich beef broth with fresh chopped onions and cilantro. As I took my first bite, the flavor was so absolutely devine, I felt like I wanted to burst into tears. I have had tacos birria before, but the texture and flavor of the meat, to the crunch of the onions had my head spinning. My Hubby is stopping by the same property today to follow up on the repairs being made. I told him don't think about coming home without a heavenly taco or he's in trouble.
