I couldn't wait to try Toast & Tonique because everything I read about it made it sound like the type of place we so desperately need in Newark. We've had a serious lack of restaurants with an interesting menu that serve alcohol, have reasonable prices, and can deliver on ambiance with an attractive, upscale decor. They even serve weekend brunch which was our first experience here. This is where things went slightly downhill with well-prepared but under-seasoned food. I tried their fluffy, cheesy Curry Omelette which was delicious but served along with cold, bland (but well-cooked) country potatoes. My husband described his Birria Skillet more like a Pot Roast Skillet which was also well-cooked but missing the seasonings he was expecting. We also noted that service was a bit slow but not inattentive. They stopped by several times to keep us posted that our food was in the works, so that was appreciated. The bottom line is that this is a low 4 for now, but I couldn't see giving it less when it has so much potential. We heard from the servers that kinks are still being worked out in the kitchen over the menu and we'll definitely be back to enjoy the evolution.

We had a great experience here! We first noticed that it was tastefully decorated and the host and server were friendly. In fact, all of the employees seemed to have a very good attitude and work ethic. They told us that they recently expanded their menu and were very accommodating to requests. I ordered the garden skillet, I think it was called. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito. Everything tasted delicious and fresh and I really appreciated the big mushroom pieces. I also enjoyed my chai latte. Would love to come back for dinner and try their alcoholic drinks!

Any time you try something new that's less than a month old there's a chance it may not go well. That was not the case at Toast & Tonique. This place is a future gem for Newark and something this town hasn't had in forever. The pictures online don't do this place justice. It looks like a simple diner but in reality it's the closest thing to fine dining that you'll find in Newark. The menu isn't overwhelming but they offer so many different cuisines. We started off with the pork belly bao buns and the Mexi-Cali wings. Both were incredible and blew us away. Especially the wings. They offer several different types of wings which is just another reason to keep coming back. My main was the Bombay Sliders which were made with lamb. The lamb was cooked perfectly. My only gripe would be the amount of sauce made it somewhat difficult to eat. The highlight of the evening, beyond the food, was the service from Megan. She knew the menu well and was conversational with us. She was incredibly friendly as was the rest of the staff. The manager, Eric, came by and chatted with us for a bit as well. I really hope Toast & Tonique succeeds and stays in Newark for a long time. I know we'll do our part to keep this place going. We can't wait to come back and try more of this menu!

For my 1st time and on Mother's day kudos to my son and girlfriend . Just opened and I must say, the ambiance is like a cool breeze very cool! Food is very tasty, delicious...leaving you with "next time I'll try this.." I enjoyed their mexi-cal skillet and my son Chilaquiles verde sauce and gf a kimchi, egg w/chicken burrito they loved it. Give it a try!

We came here for brunch, which is served from 8-12 (the rest of the menu can only be preferred after 12). There's a long bar inside and nice booth seating, and the windows let in a nice amount of natural lighting. Service did take a little while, especially for how empty the place was when we arrived. We ordered the Banana Espresso, the Korean Loaded skillet, and a Spanish Omelette. The Banana Espresso was very nice, with a clear espresso flavor that wasn't overpowered with sweetness that other places might do. The Spanish Omelette was refreshing as well. It's made of egg whites and some veggies, so I wouldn't expect something like a Spanish tortilla. But the egg white omelette is a light flavor, and the fresh jalapeños layered on top add a nice kick of spice. The Loaded Korean skillet was interesting, but as a breakfast food for me it was heavier than I'd personally like. Two sunny-side up fried eggs layered on top of mini-pancakes, Korean fried chicken, kimchi, American cheese, and a bed of tatter tots sounds like a good time, but I felt like the flavors didn't mesh as well as I'd like when put all together. We asked for ketchup and hot sauce, which arrived in separate small trays. The hot sauce was gochujang, and wasn't as spicy as I'd like.

Sometimes you come across a hidden gem but the timing for new restaurants to make their debut is often based on luck. Now is a risky time to start a restaurant business with all the tech lay offs taking place in the Bay Area. I really hope this one makes it. The bar is beautiful and spacious. The interior is well designed. The food is different from what's being served by other eateries in that plaza. This restaurant offers everything from Hawaiian Loco Moco to Mexican, Indian, Korean cuisine, and to my surprise...even American breakfast items. Food is good. Prices are acceptable. Servers are friendly and kind. Give this place a try. You may be pleasantly surprised.

We visited Toast & Tonique recently, and everything--from the food to the drinks--was fantastic. We ordered the elote, cauliflower ceviche toast, Eden tacos, Alfredo pasta, and crispy tenders, and every dish was a hit. The kids especially loved the pasta and tenders. I also have to mention the pineapple upside-down dessert--it was incredible. We barely got a taste before the kids finished it, so we had to order another one. Absolutely loved it! I was not able to take the pictures of all the dishes.

Don't be fooled by the exterior.

We needed a place like this one! The ambiance, the service, and the food were fantastic. We went here for brunch and it did not disappoint. Our server, Joy, was attentive, made great recommendations, and had a fun personality. The menu is well-rounded with flavors that can satisfy all walks of life in the Tri-City area. I started with an iced banana foam espresso followed by an order of Chiliquiles. My husband had the Ultimate Skillet with pork belly that melted in your mouth! Chef Edward is kind and after we complimented his cooking, he shared that he has experience working at Michelin Star restaurants. No wonder the food was so delicious! Highly recommend checking this place out. You won't regret it! We will definitely be back for dinner and cocktails!

Indian, Korean and Mexican fusion spot and WOW what a treat it was to dine there! The decor is nice and inviting, the food is amazing, the drinks are off the hook but the friendly staff made it PERFECT! Upon entering we were greeted by a gentleman with a great smile who took us to our table. Then came Joy to take our orders. She suggested a cocktail called Beullubeli which has vodka and their house made blueberry syrup -- DEEEELISH!! I wanted to have more but didn't. Hubby had the Spicy Margarita and he ordered a second and asked for a bigger glass LOL. He loved it! For appetizers, we ordered the Elote and shrimp ceviche - both went so good together! For mains, I got the Bombay Sliders which were lamb and it was very tasty. Hubby got wings....you MUST have the wings, it's sooooo good! Tender & juicy on the inside; crispy and flavorful on the outside. Throughout the entire time, Joy checked up on us. She was super friendly and enlightened our experience. Thank you Joy - can't wait to see you again! YES, we will be back cause I wanna try the butter chicken tacos!

Went this morning in hopes to try brunch items, but unfortunately missed it But our waitress Joy, hooked us up with her awesome recommendations and her service was very attentive despite being pretty busy !! Joy's recommendations and service redeemed my experience despite missing brunch, def coming back in time next time !!

    Unopened menu.

I wanted to enjoy this place so bad.. it was very nice inside and the server was fantastic I wish I remembered her name. Anyway the edamame was not cooked all the way... that can really make someone's stomach messed up. The corn was good but I mean I feel like all Hispanic corn is good. I really want to give this place another chance because they are new and trying to get accustomed to the menu. Which the menu was all over the place a whole bunch of different types of food.

Once you enter in the bar, go to the right, they'll give you a stamp on your hand, and then you can head downstairs. There are many lounge areas, and small tables & chairs to sit and drink at. There are also pool tables to use for free! There's also a DJ that plays GOOD r&b, hip hop, pop, and even some throwbacks too! The DJ that night took song requests and even gave a shoutout to the birthday girl in our group too. The cocktails were good, and I'm sad I didn't take pictures of it (had too much fun). The waitress will come to your table and you can order there OR you can also order at the bar. When I ordered at the bar, the waitress was so nice and helped me bring the drinks over to our table. I also had a taste of the fries, and the cups and guac and it was tasty too! There's some parking right infront or a parking lot behind the bar. I will definitely come back!

They were about 10-15 other guests but the places so big and spacious that it almost felt like we had a place to ourselves. There's a spot for a DJ/music and I can only imagine that they have some great shows here. The bartender was attentive, and while they weren't very personable you could tell that they knew several of the regulars. I didn't drink anything fancy, bourbon neat, but it was a fair pour. You order food separately. We are fish tacos, wings & nachos. The fish was fried and coleslaw had a touch of mayonnaise but not too much. This was my favorite dish. The wings of the nachos or what you expect, definitely flavorful and cooked well. We liked the crowd and will definitely be back to listen to some music and check out the lounge downstairs.
