3.5 stars for me. I know a lot of you 4 and 5 starred it but, I guess I just didn't receive 4 and 5 food and drinks that day. The service was a 4 or 5 though, our waiter was great. To me the food just tasted like Mexican food, good but not *especial* lol I think 3.5 stars is a pretty good rating for this place. The fajitas and molcajetes keep us coming back. The beans and rice are not authentic, they don't pair well with the food. The micheladas don't disappoint! They are prepared perfect. Every time! someone needs to sit the owners down and let them know their food is sad, overpriced and the service is slow. the salsa or should we call it watered-down salsa koolaid is bland and barely spicy. steak fajitas were cold no freaking sizzle. beans and rice are OK and probably the only thing on the menu with flavor. molcajetes were dry and cheap on the proteins. to think I waited over an hour for this. the waitress wasn't any good made us feel like an inconvenience. well I hope whoever reads this hears this warning find a taco truck it'll be better. read more

I no longer dread going to Bakersfield and eating shitty Mexican food with the in-laws. Los Molcajetes changed all of that. We came here to celebrate a birthday party with the fam. I would suggest making reservations fri and sat nights because it was packed with people waiting when we arrived. We were smart enough to call ahead and make reservations. Also, the small parking lot gets full quickly so you may need to find a spot on the street or across at the shops. We started off with chips, salsa, and a large bowl of guacamole. The salsa had a nice kick to it and the guac was simple and fresh with a mixture of avocados, tomatoes, and jalapenos just the way i like it. The combos($12.95) are huge and reasonably priced. A few in our group ordered burritos, shrimp enchiladas and other goodies. We opted to share the molcajetes with green salsa that comes in a large stone mortar bubbling with chicken, beef, chorizo, and nopales in a green salsa. It also comes with rice, beans, sour cream, and corn or flour tortillas. I had noticed that they also served a lengua molcajetes, so i asked them to see if they could include a side of the lengua with our order and they happily said yes. Everything was great except for the margaritas ($7). They tend to be a bit weak and loaded with sweet & sour mix. Ive had house margaritas that had more tequila at other places. Los Molcajetes also has a bar area if you just want to grab a beer, mixed drink, or even a margarita but you may want to ask for a double instead. The only reason I am giving them a one star is because they were very nice there and had respectful manners. I had ordered a Kids cheese pizza. We were not informed that before ordering it that they had ran out of frozen cheese pizzas. Instead , they decided to tell us/me when all my other parties food had gotten out that they ran out of the cheeses. So, I had to get pepperoni instead. They also had brought out the pizza with four slices and they were all the size of my pinky. The music was so loud that you could not have a proper conversation with your group/family/friends. Great place. They kept refilling my chips and salsa as i waited for my molcajete. Whenever I see other molcajetes i can smell the aroma. I had the supreme for $19.99, out of all the meats in there, shrimp was my favorite. I tried the cactus and it was ok had a slight sharp sour taste, but the rest was amazing especially the sauce/soup. There was a drink that I wanted to try that was blue and smoked up like dry ice. Dropped in randomly during lunch when driving down Stockdale Hwy. Ordered a fajita burrito (beef) to go. The lunch meal comes with rice, beans, chips & salsa. Total check was about $7.51. Generous size burrito - this is probably the 2nd Mexican restaurant I've been to in town. The wrap size was a bit too much, so I ended up picking out the meat inside and eating some of the tortilla wrap (not all). While I was waiting, they brought out some chips & salsa :) nice of them! Last Sunday at 11 o'clock nine members of my family sat down to celebrate my sisters birthday .The service was a little slow , and a strong stench of raw meat made it unbearable . My brother-in-law and I ordered Pasole and we were surprised when we found out that they were out. So, we tried ordering menudo , and to our surprise again they were out. We came here my sisters birthday on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was not packed however the dinner started bad from the beginning. We got no drinks for the first 20 minutes the chips were choking up the whole family. Finally after ordering our drinks they got 3 out of 8 wrong. After a bout a 45 min wait for food our Parillada came and it was COLD. They got two orders wrong and to top it off no silverware or tortillas for about another 10 minutes after the food was at our table. I've came here before about 3 times but after this time I will not be back. Cold food bad service and the worst part is that the owner is the one that got our order. she had no idea over her own menu when we asked her any question. I have never had the worst service ever. We sat there for 35 min with not one time for refills. The employees were more concerned about what video they were gonna play next than attending to the needs of customers. Owner needs to invest in a customer service training for all the employees. I've been here plenty of times and it's a very fun experience. For the price that you pay, the portion is definitely huge. I've been here for countless birthday dinners and it's a really fun experience. I definitely suggest hosting a birthday dinner here. As far as I can remember, each of the birthday celebrants have left drunk as a stump, in tears, and without their shoes. The food is really delicious. They work really well with large groups as well. I ordered takeout and waited about an hour until i got my food. I spent $91 at this location so it would of been great to get my moneys worth. It was really disappointing to have spent $10 on a Mixed Tostada Cocktail that was way too small of a portion and to have found a hair deep in the dish. Anyhow I finally started going back and of course it did not take long to start to regret my long time without coming here. The food here is good, we love the fajitas, all types. Enchiladas are excellent as well as the shrimp dishes. But the molcajetes are just so good. We order them when it is not so hot. The chips are fresh, the salsa good. Service is on point and the music is nice too, I will just be sure to not wait another twelve years in between visits. I ordered beef fajita. I expected it to come out sizzling but was not. Both mine and my husband's dinner were only warm. The flavor was okay. The menu clearly says tomatoes, onions and bell peppers but they do not put tomatoes on it. The Mariachis came to our corner and we're super loud. the trumpet was right in my ear. They began playing during chips and salsa and we're still playing by time we left. Somebody enjoyed it but we weren't a big a fan. It was our first time there so first impression is that it's a party place but we got there around 7. A lady told us when we left that if you get there before 5 it's not so crazy loud I would probably try it one more time but it won't be the first place I think of to go to when I want Mexican food. Best place in town to go for a good time! They make you feel important and special when you come in with a reason to celebrate. I've been in for so many birthdays, random dinners, and a bachelorette party dinner with my bridesmaids. They have given us free drinks and a little gift from a party next to us who was also celebrating their last night of being single. How sweet!! Great Mexican food in town.
