Edith was our server and was very attentive to our party of 10 for birthday party the drinks were very good , we had the Mango Margaritas Blended and they were served with plenty of alcohol which is very good thank goodness we weren't driving. THE GRUB: We started with the chips and salsa The chips were average 2/5 Stars and the salsa tasted like warm red enchilada sauce no thanks. 0 / Zero stars. The Molcajete Verde had Chicken and Angus beef 3/5 Stars and came with nopales and green enchilada sauce it also came with a side of rice and beans. next we had the Shrimp rancheros 4.5/5 Stars which went up quite a bit in price -.5 stars but we're still very good. This is my very first visit since 2024 and they have dropped off quite a bit from quality and quantity of their Molcajetes from what they used to be. My suggestion is skip the Angus beef and get the Caren Asada in your Molcajete. The flavors of the food still beat any Mexican themed restaurant in Bakersfield that serves Molcajetes. read more

Food is great, the Molcajetes and the New York steak are to die for.. the Molcajetes's come out boiling hot, the Molcajetes suprime is my favorite. Also the New York steak is just mouthwatering every bite is delicious. The service is great, the servers are really nice ladies friendly attentive. We came in with a pretty big group and had such a great experience from start to finish! Everything came out surprisingly fast, especially considering the size of our table, and the food was fresh and delicious. The molcajete was SO good. It came out bubbling hot and was absolutely delicious. We also got dessert, which was also so yummy. Huge shoutout to our server, Grace! She was so sweet, attentive, and did an amazing job taking care of our large group. She made sure everyone had what they needed and was just genuinely great. When we walked in our host was on a personal call seating us didn't greet us or anything, our server was great! She was very attentive, I didn't catch her name but she had glasses and from El Salvador, she kept asking if we needed anything and had refill ready! Food was ok, not authentic flavoring, rice had no flavor, and the beans were ok. I think overall the best part was our server. My husband is a creature of habit and Los Molcajetes has been one of our go to date night spots for many years. It's comforting to be able to come in to a familiar restaurant knowing exactly what we're gonna order - a supreme molcajete with extra queso freso, extra tortillas de harina and 2 Mangoniadas. At this point, I'm not sure if they are actually called mango margaritas, but our servers always know what we're ordering when we come in. This Saturday was a little bit more of a wait than usual, but it was expected. All 3 party tables were full plus all booths, it was a full house! Theres a DJ spinning a variety of tunes, and it's fun to see the servers bring out drinks and desserts to those celebrating their birthdays. Our server did her best to check in periodically and apologized for the wait. We didn't mind, we enjoy our time out and it just gives us a reason to stay out later than usual ;) The only real negative thing I have to say about this place is the rose vendors that come around to your table. I get why they do it, but I remember a time when this was only done at night clubs, not restaurants. read more

Food leaves ALOT To be desired! Went for my daughter's 42 birthday, her choice as she's never eaten there before. we went during happy hour, there was nothing happy about the 2 hours we were there. Five adults and two children were in attendance. We all ordered off the happy hour menu total disappointment. We ordered the combo appetizer platter and was very disappointed. 1 they didn't have the wings had a choice to sub so we ordered extra quesadillas, nachos will never do that again both weren't very appetizing Needless to say we were highly unsatisfied and vowed to never to return I've eaten there before back in the day and it was actually good unfortunately not anymore read more

Came here to eat dinner with friends. We were seated next to some very loud people that were being absolutely obnoxious. Our server, Grace, was very gracious with us. She was very helpful and accommodating to us. Definitely can say that if it wasn't for her, we would've had a not so pleasant experience because of the people next to us. The food was also amazing but there should be more servers like Grace, to make the experience more memorable. Definitely will be back here the next time I'm in Bakersfield. read more

I don't know who is leaving these reviews about the "great" service and servers but considering they all mention the same name it seems like they are family or friends. We went here for a dinner and it was very subpar. While they were not rude, they were definitely not attentive. We got corn tortillas instead of flour. They added shrimp to the molcajete after asking for no shrimp. Our overpriced drinks were served in regular glasses. The waitress Grace dropped the fruit skewer on mine and took it away and wasn't going to replace it apparently since a good ten minutes or so passed until I asked. When it came time to pay, no one came to take our payment. We had to get up to go pay. Not what you'd expect for a sit down restaurant experience. The place was not busy at all, one other table. The food was not good at all. I left most of my enchiladas. The chicken looked undercooked. I had heard they were under new management but I was expecting better since I've been here before and it was a fun and lively experience then. I will not be returning. read more

Went to try them out for the first time but have heard great things about live Mariachi there. It was a lunch so I knew it wasn't likely to have live entertainment but I would say it was very lively! They had a screen playing pop songs with lyrics on one side and espn on the other screen opposite. Food was all tasty, very homemade and fresh. I know they have amazing prices to match but I wouldn't blame them if they raise them soon. Iced tea was freshly filled by a very sweet waitress. Came here expecting a good Mexican meal and left mostly disappointed. The molcajete came out looking promising, but somehow managed to taste like nothing. The steak? Tough, low quality, and felt like it had been cooked more for punishment than for eating. The sauce? Might as well have been water with a little color added. And about the chips, not only were they stingy with the chips they do give you, but they straight-up forgot to bring the chips for my queso and chorizo. So there I was, staring at a bowl of queso with nothing to dip in it. I guess I was supposed to eat it with a spoon? Like they give you like six chips, and then act like you're asking for their firstborn when you want more. The only meal that was decent was the chorizo and queso Service was okay -- not bad, not great. Just kind of... service. And for what they charge, I expected way better food.
