    Chili rellano burrito
    Tauna M.

Delicious food. It's been on my radar for a bit as I've noticed this restaurant when I've driven by. Best chili rellano burrito I've ever had. My family had a vegetarian plate (I tasted it) it was so fresh, cooked to perfection and delicious. Beautifully seasoned. We also ordered a chicken taco plate. The chicken meat wasn't heavily seasoned but it was a generous portion and was very satisfying. The salsas are really good too. Chips and salsa are served if you eat there. Large dining room and a parking lot. Good service. I highly recommend. Fresh food, generous portions and very tasty meals.

lowkey fire - went thanksgiving at like 9, only place open, pleasantly surprised. salsa was weird but everything else hit. gf got a burrito and was "rlly good"

Everything we had was bland, bland, bland! Asada nachos, pupusas, as well as the rice and beans. All of it was just sad. We ate half our food and left very unsatisfied.

Craving oysters (when did we become these people?!), we stopped in for lunch, ordered a half dozen (and later, another half dozen), plus the Rockfish and Chips, and the Hot and Crispy Fish Sando. Everything was enjoyable: the sando was reminiscent of an upscale Fish Filet (I mean that in a positive way) with a tiny bit of heat; the Rockfish were fried in a salt-and-pepper-y seasoned batter that paired well; and the oysters, of course, were a particular highlight, as previously mentioned, since a second set was ordered to finish off the meal. The only disappointing thing about the whole meal was a rather uninspired spicy Bloody Mary, which didn't really do much for me, sadly. Service was friendly and attentive, and the covered outdoor dining area was spacious, well-lit, and warm enough to be welcoming and comfortable. There's also a secondary covered and fenced dining patio that is dog-friendly, which is another perk! And lastly, the market and bar inside boasts a heaping helping of fresh fish finery coming in many forms: fresh, frozen, 'frigerated, filleted and fried, either served over the counter, or available to-go. Lots of smoked salmon options as well! Very cool place, and one that my wife in particular has fallen in love with. We'll definitely be returning, likely for dinner next time, to see if the menu is expanded with additional options such as scallops, swordfish, steelhead and other seasonal selections.

You'll thank me later because we had 5:00pm reservations and arrived to a line standing out the door that was at least 20-30ppl deep at 4:45pm. One to check in for food/drinks, one delivering drinks and one bringing food to the table. All very knowledgable about what they were presenting. The happy hour (5-6pm) is amazing here for the value. $1/each oysters specifically. And these are amazing oysters, probably best I've ever had. The balance of the menu is a mixture of small plates. We had the squash, halibut and lobster roll dishes and they were all professionally plated and crafted with a unique spin on traditional dishes. You would see that it's going to a motel, you would think to add the silverware. Fortunately, I was able to get silverware from my motel's breakfast room. The lumpia were very good. They were not greasy at all. They are smaller than standard eggrolls, but because they use more meat and less veggies than your standard eggroll, they pack a lot more flavor. Everything inside was seasoned well, and I really enjoyed them. They came with a vinegar based dipping sauce that I liked The "garlic Ponzu" salmon poke? No, not nearly as good. For the price they were charging, it was not a very big portion. Besides that, it just wasn't that good. A good salmon is normally pink to orange. This salmon was barely pink. I couldn't taste the garlic or the Ponzu at all. The veggies were crisp, the rice was a good quality, but there was just no seasoning. The salmon was very bland. I didn't know if it was just because of the seasoning, maybe they used a low quality or a previously, frozen salmon. I love good salmon. This was not good salmon. For the price I paid, not counting the DoorDash fees because those are added in anyway, I just felt I didn't get my moneys worth. Next time I'm in the area, I will find another place. Thanks anyway.

We were genuinely excited and looking forward to a special evening. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short, especially given the price point and strong Yelp rating. The oxtail croquettes arrived cold, which was surprising for a fried item and set a disappointing tone early. The biggest issue was the hamachi crudo. It had a strong fishy smell with clear hints of ammonia and tasted far from fresh, bordering on spoiled. There was a lingering aftertaste that unfortunately affected everyone's palate for the rest of the meal. We sent it back due to quality concerns. My family and I grew up eating liver and mousse from our own family recipes and from many different culinary traditions. The chicken liver mousse here was creamy in texture but lacked depth and subtle sweetness, and tasted overly mineralized. It was the first chicken liver mousse I have ever not finished. The crab beignets were acceptable, though they could have used more crab. The accompanying sauce was well executed. The miso deviled eggs were tasty, and the anchovy add-on worked nicely. The Parisienne gnocchi, at $40, was not memorable and leaned heavily salty. Steak frites were standard, a dish that is generally hard to fumble. Unfortunately drinks. The shift in service after we sent back the hamachi was obviously uncomfortable and noticeable. The energy dramatically changed. There was little interest in engaging with our feedback. For a meal that totaled over $200, we left disappointed and still hungry. Portland offers many stronger dining options at this price point that deliver both quality and hospitality. Disappointing feels like an understatement. I am genuinely puzzled by the high rating based on the food quality and service we experienced. We will not be returning, nor would I recommend it based on this visit.

I also got their espresso month martini which was great, but I do want to try the rest of their martini menu - for $7, you can get them in mini size and try more of them! Service was friendly. They do the standard Kachka automatic gratuity but in this case it's warranted. We felt taken care of and left very happy! The dumplings are very Kachka-style and a bit controversial: if you're from Russia, they may feel cafeteria-level, but still decent. The service was painfully slow. This wasn't my first visit. The first time, I waited about 10 minutes at the entrance while the host finished a phone call, only to be told they were full. This time was technically better -- we waited only 5 minutes before being seated. The restaurant was half empty, yet everything took forever. Oysters took about 25 minutes to arrive, and the rest of the food took even longer. One young bartender was clearly hustling and moving quickly, while others seemed remarkably skilled at ignoring customers. At one point, staff spent 7-10 minutes chatting while several tables were actively trying to get their attention. I'm sure it was work-related, but it was hard not to notice. Especially because the staff at the original Kachka operates at lightning speed -- otherwise that place simply wouldn't function. Also, the music was loud -- I measured over 90 dB while waiting for food, which is way beyond safe noise levels. Overall: a great bar and a welcome addition to the Kachka family, with strong drinks and good food -- but I really wish the staff seemed more engaged.

The Toxica was basically guava passion fruit sorbet, but the smear of house made strawberry chamoy gave it a fun kick and the cornflake crunch was the texture it needed. We both really enjoyed it.
