Still as amazing as every other time we have eaten there! Their molcajete is our go to. The waitress was very sweet and efficient.

Another great meal here at Los Potrillos. Husband and I always eat here when visiting Santa Fe. More authentic Old-style Mexican food and atmosphere rather than New Mexican, which is a nice change from time to time.

Stopped in here last night while driving through town. We were hungry for Mexican food and the reviews were good. We were seated right away and the service was fast and friendly. The chips and salsa were ok. The green salsa was tasty but the red sauce was overly chipotle flavored. I had Enchiladas de Colores and hubby had shredded beef tacos. The enchiladas were too salty to eat and hubby switched with me. The tacos were tastier.

Loved everything from the food to the service! My fajitas were tender and my salsa was smokey, highly recommend. The interior is decorated in a rustic Mexican decor which I absolutely loved snd the servers were great.

A hidden gem with authentic decor, excellent food, and the fastest service I've experienced in a long time. I ordered the enchiladas suizas, which were just the way I like them, with grilled chicken and a lovely tomatillo/jalapeño sauce. Tjefrozen mango margarita hit the spot after a day on the road. Will be back!

Loved my meal at Los Potrillos! We were quickly seated and served chips and salsa. The salsas could have been a bit spicier (personal preference) but the flavor was great! Smoky green and red salsas were yummy. I ordered the Gorditas Zacatecas (1 beef, 1 chicken, and 1 rajas con queso). My favorite was the rajas con queso! It was so cheesy, and the gordita breading had great texture and flavor. I ate the gorditas with the leftover salsa we had from the chips. The plate honestly doesn't look like that much food, but I was STUFFED afterwards. I definitely want to try more of the dishes they have on the menu! I'm excited to visit again.

Named for the graceful foals which line their lobby wall, I promise the food is vastly superior to equestrian!

To culminate our first full day in scenic Santa Fe, our oldest brother and his lovely wife treated my brother and I to their favorite New Mexican style restaurant. Los Portrillos may be named for the foals, or baby horses, that line their lobby walls, but for the ingenuity and culinary craftsmanship shown in their show stopping specialties this place may as well be named after the greatest horse to ever race- Secretariat! Our trio of brothers contented ourselves with stiff margaritas and a trio of entrees pulled straight from the Chef's Specialties: Enchiladas Del Colores, Pechuga de Pollo en Nuez and my Gorditas de Zacatecas. The first featured the Christmas (red and green) salsas that all self-respecting New Mexican restaurants employ. Number two positively sang with an inventive savory-sweet sauce gleaned from walnuts. And the latter stuffed three chubby gorditas with chicken, cheese and shredded beef. But our momentary delight almost derailed when my sister in law's dish arrived. Mayra had ordered the Chiles de Nogada, and it swiftly had us three brothers gnashing our teeth in culinary covetedness! Imagine plump chiles poblanos blanketed with a novel sauce comprised of ground beef, pecans and raisins?! Combine the licking-our-plates fervor with stout, generously poured drinks and efficient service and a festive crowd that doesn't mind waiting because they KNOW they're about to go on a true culinary odyssey. Aboard the Secretariat of Santa Fe New Mexican cuisine.

Service was excellent and food delicious. Casual atmosphere and it was a beautiful day and cool so we sat outside. Definitely recommend and will be back next time we're in town.

The fish is terrific; moist on the inside, crispy on the outside, not fishy; a really nicely done fried fish. The fries were a big miss! Last time they were overly salted, and we did mention this to the staff. This time, it was worse; not too salty, but everyone was unhappy with the texture. Some thought they were frozen (they had that frozen fry texture), but of course, they were not, we were told. The taste was OK, but after a few fries, none of us could eat any more. They all ended up in the trash. Too bad because the most challenging part of fish and chips is the fish, which Rowley's does very well. Chips? Nope! You can ask for a Caesar instead, but it's rather lackluster (more later). My wife had the Green Chile Tuna Melt, which was pretty good and unusual. They use wild yellowtail to make the salad, and it was a nice upgrade from the usual. Not fishy like Tuna can be (although if you like tuna salad, which we do, that's not an issue). Had a nice kick from the Chile, nice bread, etc. We recommend this dish. Came with a side Caesar salad, which was pretty bland. It's all about the dressing, of course, and this version didn't seem to have any anchovies I could detect, nor the necessary other ingredients to make it remarkable. Could have been ranch or any other 'white' dressing. Another miss. Tried the Roasted Brussels Sprouts, which were pretty good (need more roasting), and need the bacon as a default. The version at Box Car is far superior. But not bad here, not a miss. But better We also tried the Grilled & Roasted Vegetables topped with feta. This dish was delicious! A really nice side for those who want something healthy with their fried fish. The waiter knew we didn't like the fries, so he 'comped' us dessert, which was a very nice gesture. We tried the Bread Pudding and the Mango Cheesecake. The cheesecake was way too cool, so its texture was hard and not what I'd normally expect. There wasn't a trace of Mango I could detect. The crust was nice. Not a miss, but not something I'd order again. The bread pudding was pretty good, not the best in class, but more successful than the cheesecake. Not overly sweet, thankfully, but a bit dense. Service was very good! Our server was Gerson C, who got everything right. The kitchen served the food promptly, and everyone was served at once. But overall, too many misses for me to be convinced to go back.

Unfortunately I was highly disappointed by food and service. I ordered fish and shrimp taco. The food wasn't bad but it's didn't come with a side of salsa or any sort of sauce. It did comes with a side of rice which I felt was under seasoned. The service was slow. I walked in around 1pm and door was locked. I was surprised to find them close even though online says that they are open at 11am that day. I checked on google and it was suppose to be open. I called and they said that they are open but waiting for alcohol to be delivered at 3pm. Did they assume that every customer coming in is ordering alcohol? As far as I understand this is a restaurant that serves food and alcohol and not a bar. Shortly after my arrival, there was a large tour with 12 people showed up. I could see that the waiter was a bit flustered because he also had to tend to other customer as well as the tour. I guess this is where the tour take people for authentic taco experience. In my opinion these are more toned down gringo tacos. My taco didn't come with a side of sauce like everyone else. I also noticed that the tour all received a side of salsa which I didn't. I'm not sure if the waiter forgot. I had to flag down the waiter a few time because he also forgot my drink. I also ordered an agua Fresca watermelon and it wasn't made of real watermelon but flavor syrup from the bar. I wished I had known that it wasn't real melon. 2.5 stars for the food and 2 for service. Again food wasn't terrible, but certainly wasn't close to be the best.
