I am visiting from Austin Texas and tried this restaurant on my first night in Santa fe and was so pleased. My grandfather and I had the Molcajete am pastor and Chiles en nogada and they were incredible. The Molcajete was this spicy pork and grilled pineapple dish served with a tasty pineapple salsa and the chiles end nogada was a super tasty stuffed poblano pepper with an amazing sauce that I absolutely loved I could eat a whole bowl of this nutty sweet sauce. The chips and dips (2 totally different salsas and a really tasty avocado sauce) were great too but those two dishes were an amazing end to a wonderful first day in Sante fe. Totally different from the texmex I am useful and totally wonderful and a force to be reckoned with. Next time I visit Sante fe I am coming back here its that good. read more

This is Mexican unlike most restaurants in Santa Fe. I don't like New Mexican cousine. My only complaint would be their prices being a little high. I had guacamole and it was $13 a bit high and the avocado wasn't ripe. The enchilada sauce was wonderful. read more

Unique food from Mexico. They have all the standard fair but also many other great dishes with tasty sauces not normally found in most Mexican restaurants. I had the beef stuffed poblano Chile with a rich creamy sauce and loved it. read more

Great staff. Great decor. This was the first time I'd had an agave wine margarita, and it was delicious. Food was good. Green chili enchiladas--yum! Mango sauce chicken breast! The chili sauces were out of this world. The cook here knows a thing or two about flavor profiles. I liked this food better than some of the more lauded restaurants downtown. read more

This place was okay, slightly disappointed because it shows Margaritas in their advertising however they do not carry any type of tequila. So it cannot be an actual margarita that is authentic. Other than that the service was good, I ordered the gorditas which were pretty delicious. I ordered the chicharones as an appetizer, and they were extremely salty. I don't know if that was a mistake or that's the way they make them but I would definitely not order them again. The chips and salsa or just ok but what was outstanding was the chile relleno. Muy autentico! Based on the exterior, we've blown by this place dozens of times without stopping, but finally dropped in for a Sunday evening family meal. The lure was a) not having been yet, and b) the large number of modest cars in the lot at all hours of the day. We thought it might be a popular spot with locals, and we were right! This place has a large and diverse Mexican menu, with kitschy old west decor in a renovated old Pizza Hut building. The dining room was nearly full at 6 pm, and we were seated right away. Lots of large, multigenerational families in attendance, as expected for a Sunday dinner. Service was prompt, friendly, and functional, and patient with our picky kids. The food arrived quickly - in less than 15 minutes. Flavors were fabulous, large portions, served hot, and priced fairly. Very straight forward, no nonsense, unpretentious, good value. Ribs were smokey and spicy; the pork dish I ordered came in a hot stone caldron, with a fresh pineapple pico and homemade pork and beans on the side. Corn tortillas were grilled and piping hot, and the roasted, whole, fresh, jalapeño garnish was killer. This place is all about the authentic family recipes favored by locals, as opposed to a high end esoteric culinary adventure. Leave your airs and the tourists behind, and jump into another side of old Santa Fe. read more

Queso Fundido was microwaved for sure. The oil sat on the top while the cheese hardened almost instantly. Tortillas weren't freshly made, came to us soggy and moist. Rice and beans tasted a day or two old. I'm originally from Los Angeles where there's an abundance of amazing Mexican food so naturally I was excited to see traditional dishes on the menu. We are visiting Santa Fe and stopped here at Yelp and Super 8s recommendation. The entrees were fantastic. The Boyfriend got beef fajitas, which were excellent and didn't taste just like everywhere else. I got chicken with pineapple sauce. I was intrigued by the idea of pineapple with Mexican food but I had no idea what to expect. It was fantastic! On the other hand, the chips weren't great and the guacamole was full of letuice and cilantro so what looked like a huge serving turned out to be average sized. Maybe that's the way they make it here but when I'm paying $9 for Guac I expected to get my avocado's worth! Cute decor, great menu, good service, but if we pass through here again I think I'd like to try someplace different. read more

This place ended up being really conveniently located near my hotel room so my boyfriend and I could walk there and back intoxicated, without fear of a dui. We stopped in to just satisfy our chips and guacamole craving. Chips were a tad greasy, but I've had worse! The guac was good, but different. I've never had shredded lettuce in guacamole before. But the dip itself was good. I did have a margarita - Los Potrillos makes theirs with wine - not tequila. We are visiting for our anniversary and this was our first dinner out. Great food and strong drinks. We got a plate to share for two, I don't remember the name but it had ham, bacon, chorizo, red &green bell peppers and was served with a specialty quesadilla and the beans were amazing. My wife got the green Chile chili rellenos and she loved them. I got the camaron (shrimp) rellenos, they failed. They were peppers stuffed with cut up shrimp and the taste was marginal at best. Stick with the traditional queso ones. BTW, they serve three different "salsas" with the chips. None of them were at all spicy. I asked the waiter for something a little more hefty. He brought some wonderful, spicy stuff. If you like heat, ask for it. read more

This was a spontaneous choice for my friend and I after we rejected a different option for Mexican (I forget which one) in Santa Fe. When we walked in, we were greeted by cowboy hats and boots galore, as well as what we call "horse chairs." The place looks authentically Mexican, with lots of ranch and horse paraphernalia, making the place not only interesting to look at but also interesting to eat in. When we went, the crowd was about half Hispanic and half white. The food was good and there were lots of authentic Mexican items on the menu. I would definitely go again! The shrimp cocktail, which we didn't have, looked delicious... The only sketchy thing were some men in the restaurant giving us the eye, but I guess that is no fault of the restaurant's! read more

On our way back from Taos Pueblos, having to break from a thunderstorm, we ended up having dinner at this little dive in Santa Fe. It's authentic Mexican food and we loved it. This place was filled with a lot of local Mexican food lovers who've had it with New Mexican food (more Spanish style then Mexican = a little more bland, no cilantro and not too spicy). Our servers spoke just enough English, the food was crazy good and the servings were all right. Decor's OK but that's not the reason why you go there. looking at the review, we went and visited the restaurant. The food might be good (cant really say it cause i didnt even get to try), but the service .... Well let me just start with this... Came in, lots of people waiting, so we went and look for the host. When we get to the front, the host was talking with apparently unhappy customer because they double charges her on her bill. To top that, the customer was from out of town and was half way out of santa fe. Back to my experience, i was told the wait will be about 25 min. So we wait...35 min went by, we asked if it will be much longer. Here is the answer from the host: " I dont know....nobody ask you to wait" What a host... I dont know what the owner was thinking when they hire him....maybe a new host needed???? read more
