Danny's customer service was exceptional! I ordered a Baja Carne Asada Burrito (monster size), and I asked him to please cut it in half. Instead, he made 2 large burritos for me, which was even better! He also offered complimentary chips, and the salsa bar was on point with several options. The hot carrots and jalapeño peppers were a nice touch. Finally, the side of spanish rice and pinto beans was tastey and accompanied the carne asada very well. The artwork on the walls, abundance of seating, and the ability to watch a game on the TV make this place a great sit down dine-in option, which is rare among taco shops in San Diego. We live within walking distance, and if the food had been better, it would have been our new go-to place for Mexican food (other than my own kitchen, that is!), but all five people (we got take-out) thought the food was boring. How can a place make Mexican food boring?? The burritos were pretty tasteless, and the rolled tacos seemed to have mashed beans in with the beef. I stopped in a few days later on my way to Vons. I showed the server my receipt and suggested getting better ingredients or a better cook. I was told most of the ingredients and things like the rolled tacos arrive frozen, and Primo's just heats them up. Well, no wonder! The restaurant's closeness might prompt a second visit. I live only a few blocks from there and frequently visit this location. I must admit that their crispy beef and chicken tacos have changed flavor. I'm not sure, but I suspect they've switched to a new supplier for the frozen tacos. I broke one apart tonight, and it was more like a spread of meat instead of chunks of beef. I really like the shredded beef tacos & their homemade chips. The cheese enchiladas could use some improvement. The enchiladas need more sauce on top. I prefer red spicy sonara sauce on my enchiladas . For now I stick with the tacos which are very good with a semi crispy taco shell. This is THE worst Mexican food I've had in San Diego and to make matters worse, I found a hair in my burrito. I almost threw up. It makes me wonder how dirty all their restaurants are. This place has great food, Great service, great portion sizes. You get what you pay for. The restaurant is clean, lots of choices on the menu, service is friendly and you can eat inside or outside. I was staying in the area and found this place as we drove home and can't complain. I live in LA so I was looking forward to sampling Mexican good since SD Mexican food has just a great reputation and this spot did not let me down. I am not a fan of fries in my burrito or untraditional combinations and this place has many of them so I can't comment on those. But we had carne asada tacos on various occasions and they never disappointed, my kids who are picky eaters loved them and requested them along with their rice and beans. The tortillas are nice and thick and hold the meaty portions in place. I had a Chile verde burrito and it was really tasty, albeit, a bit on the spicy side and I am Mexican. I west in for a small lunch on Thursday. I asked for a taco and was told they only serve tacos on Tuesday. I asked for something else and was told they only serve that on Wednesday. I was told they only have tortes on Thursday. Hard to find what kind on the overhead menu so the only kind I remember was egg and beef. No they said that's breakfast so you can't have that now. I ended up with steak and do much mayo it was disgusting and 5x more than I could eat, threw out 4/5 of it. No more primos for me! read more

I have been wanting to try this place for a few weeks, I work just down the street. I finally had a chance today. I like the signage and vibe of the decorations. Great location too. The girl taking my order was super friendly, but not amazing when it came to taking my order. I asked for a half portion of the chicken fries, with no sour cream or pico de gallo. She repeated back "one crane asada fry with no pico or sour cream" I corrected her, a half order of chicken. I also ordered a small drink. My total was 9$, a little steep but I was excited. When I got my food the same friendly girl brought it to my table, but it was covered in sour cream. I brought the plate up to the front and reminded her I order no sour cream, she did not apologize, and took the plate and told the chef "no crema" I could see him roll his eyes and look at me. So uncomfortable!! And it was their mistake. When my second plate arrived it was the right way, however it was totally cold. And I was worried to eat it because I knew they were upset they had to remake it. The fries were uncooked and greasy, the cheese was unmelted and the chicken was dry. I was really disappointed and I will not be choosing to have an other lunch here :( read more

I order breakfast burritos from here all the time and they are great. However the potatoes are always undercooked. There other location in Carlsbad cooks them fully and they taste so much better. The whole thing is really big and impressive looking, but it is all rice. Came here for lunch today and ordered a Baja Burrito because the woman at the counter recommended it. The price seemed sort of high until this monstrosity of meal was set in front of me. I've never seen a burrito as large as this thing. It was filled with carnitas, beans, rice, and pico de gallo. The flavor was great and it was honestly enough to share with 3 people. Stopped in here for lunch hoping it had opened and got lucky ;) A huge selection of burritos, tacos, tortas and other typical taco shop fare. Meats Including Pollo, Carne Asada, Adobado, Carnitas, Beef, grilled fish etc. They have a really good selection of "monster burritos", they are insanely huge, at least 3x the size of a regular burrito. I'll post a pic up. They have hot carrots, roasted chili peppers, roja and verde salsas and pico de gallo at the salsa bar. For those picky with their soda, they have Pepsi branded fountain selection. I prefer Coke, but I make do. I had the carnitas torta and it def hit the spot, not to greasy with fresh bread and veggies. A great new work lunch option for me. We ordered the Monster Burrito, Chile Verde (more than enough for two). The sauce was very tasty and the beans perfect. The cashier and server were really nice and offered extra chips if we wanted. We sat outside in one of the shaded tables and the breeze made the experience even better. The restroom was very clean and its apparent that they check it often.
