This place has some of the best mole sauce I've ever had! You will get an up charge if you ask for some. The food is usually always on point. The people are wonderful. The restaurant is clean. However, the prices have skyrocketed. Other Dunwoody restaurants have increased their prices but not as much as this one has. They are almost as expensive as Rays on the River, but with a view of a parking lot. I went in today to pick up a menu so I could phone in an order tomorrow for my dinner for 22. I was aghast at the prices on the menu. We won't be going there again. We had enjoyed having their food at our parties. read more

I'm increasing my review here to four stars after another experience. Food is still good American Mexican however it came out so quickly and service was great. Within seconds of being seated someone came to get our drinks, minutes later the drinks came and they were on to our chips and order. Once we ordered the food came out fresh and hot in 5 minutes. The food was good here. It's your typical Mexican Restaurant. I ordered the Enchiladas Verde and it was good. Had a ton of lettuce on it. I also ordered the fried ice cream and that was really delicious. I would recommend that. I also ordered some churros to take home for my husband and those were really good as well. Queso and salsa were pretty standard. I will say, it was incredibly hot inside. I'm not sure if the a/c was broken or if it's always hot there. One of the best Services I've gotten a long time asked several times if I needed anything refilled my water without me asking picked up my plates promptly after I finished. We love this place, our family has been eating here since 1993, so 30 years is a great tradition. it's always busy and bustling. It's always tasty and consistent. The owner always asks how my folks are doing if I am by myself. That type of personal attention and longevity are rare these days. I had the special lunch number 1, but for dinner tonight. It's the Chile relleno, beef taco, guacamole salad and refried beans. EPIC !! The salsa and chips here are unique and different those most Atlanta Mexican food places. I give los rancheros five stars because I have eaten here once a week for at least 20 years. This staff is outstanding, always friendly and fast. I can't tolerate Mexican food at many restaurants, but I love this place. The chicken is just pulled breast meat, no added stuff. Some favorite entrees are the carnitas dinner, Camarones al ajo, chicken burrito especial and the grouper. The seafood is very nice. Typically they have live music on the weekends. Local Mexican restaurant in Orchard Park in Dunwoody. The menu is quite extensive with the usual Mexican fare. Have not tried everything on the menu, but I've tried lots of the combination specials including enchiladas, tacos, burritos, and rellenos. Everything's pretty average, nothing really standing out. Menu had a combo that would have also included a taco for the same price. She liked the burrito. She said better than other local, but she likes chuys beef burrito better. I had enchiladas mole. Excellent. Good shredded chicken, good flavor from the mole. Had a flan for dessert- will skip that, packaged taste and hard. Prices reasonable . Oh yeah, posted health score was 100. Los Rancheros is a pleasant little surprise of a Tex-Mex restaurant in the heart of Dunwoody. My friends had been munching on chips and salsa and guac until I got there half an hour later, but they waited until a few minutes before I got there to order. I ordered almost immediately after I found my table (I asked the host where my friends were and he just immediately knew where my all Asian group was...). They left me a little bit of guac and my GOD it was fresh and delicious. Could have done with a little jalapeño for a nice kick, but it did well enough without. I ordered a combo that came with a taco and.. Something else. I can't remember for the life of me, and I'm not expert in Mexican food taxonomy. But it was delicious and really hit the post-happy hour spot. My friend had fish tacos and the fish was on POINT. Perfectly seasoned and flaky: I highly recommend giving them a try. Service was quick and food was delicious. If I am ever in the area and have an hankering for Mexican? Wonderful Mexican restaurant tucked away in Dunwoody. They have all the Mexican specialties, with quite a few of their own. My parents are elderly and not adventurous at all when it comes to food- particularly spicy food. They adore the fish dishes. Whereas I can get excellent food that is hot & spicy. read more

I was craving Mexican food while I was in the Dunwoody area. I found Los Rancheros next to the Orchard Park Kroger's store. FOOD: I got the Grouper taco, Salmon taco, and a side of rice. Ok, yeah, so this is my favorite OTP Mexican restaurant!! The food, the service...the food!!! All the staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel like your with friends! It's a fairly large space. It's divided into four sections: the left side is quiet, better for families with smaller children, the middle is larger and for either adults or families with older kids, the right side is the bar section and had live music at night, and then a fantastic outside patio! They keep it heated during the cooler months so it's always accessible! The portions are healthy! You could easily split a dish, but it's so good that you will not want too!! The Fajitas Across The Border for One is enough to feed two people and still have leftovers! It's a amazing!!! Beef fajitas, chicken, shrimp, peppers and onions...to die for!!! Oh, and a side of rice, refried beans and guacamole salad! All for around $13!!! If seafood is more your persuasion, I recommend the Grouper Enchiladas! They are light but filling. They are a little more pricey than your average beef or chicken enchiladas...they run around $15ish for two enchiladas, rice and refried beans. Also, the Grouper with vegetables and rice is amazing! So much pain.... Is it the issues with supply chains? Maybe just a bad day? Whatever the problem(s) are, they have definitely spilled over into the taste and presentation of this locations food. As a 3rd generation Hispanic, I am used to the dumb down versions of Mexican cuisine. The bland pallet, no salt, abandonment of spices, lack of options and the over use of cheese on everything! BUT, when you order nachos .. nachos .. these once super simple: refried beans on individual chip, covered in cheese with a single jalapeño then baked to crispy, now the options have expanded and can be SUPER delicious and at the flip of a coin, extremely devastating! Now, I will say I order my nachos in a, let's "When Harry met Sally" way (those who know the reference, will understand), but even so .. they're NACHOS!!! Let's just say .. EPIC failure! I'm sitting here with some of the worst heartburn I've ever had, from the blandest food ever! This is a head scratcher I'm also sitting here wondering how awful it must feel to have no pride in delivering this subpar food to the public. The beef was dry as a bone, the chicken was simply boiled and chunked. I even found a piece that had been sitting out so long it dried to a hard chunk and discolored. Now, I ALWAYS ALWAYS order my chips on the side because I like to control the ratio of cheese to chip and toppings, plus allowing the crunch to remain. Who likes soggy chips??? Bleh . And what do I get??? One slice of tomato, solid sour cream on top of Dry meats on Congealed beans, on top of congealed cheese on top a bed of chips!!! It was like eating a weird Mexican pizza. I probably could have made slices like a pizza and suffered through this meal that way. To my gente ... where's the love we were all taught to put into the food? Hmmm. Let's start with the fact that this is definitely a family place. I travel alone and am a married-no kids kind of guy. There were a couple of loud ones at the table next to me, for Dad's birthday I would soon find out. Others around the place were making plenty of noise. Next, it was inexpensive. My meal, with a beer, was $13.50 w/tip. The food was bland. I ordered a special combo with an enchilada and a tamale. The enchilada was fine (no choice given on filling, beef is the default). The tamale had some of the driest chicken in it I've ever eaten in a restaurant. The combo came with rice and beans. The rice was ok, the beans, well, not much flavor. The portion size was small for a Mexican restaurant, but who needs that much food anyway. A previous post referenced the quick service. My experience was that the waiter was quick to take my order....then I didn't see him again until he dropped off the check. At that point he realized that he hadn't checked on me, so he asked if I wanted another beer. I thought, No, but how about a lime? No lime for the beer, no lemon for the water. What's up with no citrus? Finally, I was stunned when I heard what sounded like a live musician trying to play some 70s/80s soft rock. I strained to hear over the mixed shrieks of little ones and the not-so-often-enough accompanying parental chastisements. Sure enough, there it was, a true guitar wielding troubadour plying his wares in the "bar". So, my thought was this...the place is either for 1) packing your 2.5 kids in the foreign SUV for a night of bland Mexican food or 2) a lone wolf, out of town on business, in search of some live tribute to Delbert McClinton and a lime-less Mexican beer. This is a solid, consistent and well above average neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Unlike many of the mini-chain Mexican places, Los Rancheros does not serve gloppy food. I usually order a grouper or salmon burrito or fillet and I am never disappointed. They have all the regular American-style Mexican favorites and, yes, the restaurant is loud and usually full of loud families, but the food is good and the atmosphere is appropriately family-style Mexican. This restaurant is always crowded, whereas a nearby restaurant bay in the same shopping center has held one failed restaurant concept after another. I can respect rules & regulations, but if beans are cheaper than meat & I can't eat meat; why can't you make 1 exception 1 time ? ? They did have some good beers for $2 on Wednesday. That's a deal I can agree with. However, the restrooms didn't seem dirty dirty. But, it was soo obvious they never dusted it. Plenty & plenty of layers of dust. The dust had dust ! Toilet bowls were nice & clean. I'm sure they do the regular maintenance, but some days you have to do a little bit more to keep the restroom clean as a whole. If I could negative stars I would. This place is terrible and I have no idea how they are still in business. We found chicken bones in the chicken chimichanga and the fajitas had zero flavor. The chicken fajita came out as one piece and tasted like it was boiled! The beef and shrimp fajitas were barely edible with no salt or pepper or any seasoning on it. You can't be a local without loving this place. I've been going here for as long as I can remember and love visiting whenever I'm in the area. The service is warm and the food arrives in record time. To me this is standard Mexican food. The menu isn't full of lots of unique options but everything on the menu is executed well. They are always on top of drink refills and keep the chips topped off. If you are avoiding animal products the only option is vegetable fajitas but they are 10/10. This place is dear to my heart and I think there is good reason this place is always packed. read more
