Where in Utah is Lee today?!…read more You voted for Mexican food, so I'm spending some time visiting a few of my favorite spots in Central Utah. Today's stop was right here in Richfield at Playa Azul TacoShop, where I grabbed lunch before heading out for my ride. And just like every other time I've been here... This place was BUSY! The parking lot was packed with cars and motorcycles. Local businesses were holding lunch meetings, and families were enjoying great Mexican food together. Today's pick: Crispy Chicken Taco with chips and salsa First bite? Hot, fresh, juicy chicken wrapped in a perfectly crispy tortilla. Simple, delicious, and exactly what you want before a long ride. Lee's Local Verdict: Worth stopping in Richfield for? Absolutely! Fast, friendly service, great food, and a full parking lot that tells you everything you need to know. Now I'm curious... What's your favorite Mexican restaurant in Central Utah? And if you stop by, tell them the "Where in Utah is Lee?" guy sent you! #WhereInUtahIsLee #PlayaAzul #RichfieldUtah #MexicanFood #TacoRun #UtahEats #WorthTheRide #LiveToRide #RideToLive #WhereToNext

Primarily looking…read morefor a place to eat we stopped by on our trip from the Red Rock country of Southern I Utah to Salt Lake City. The bar is a bit off the I-70 freeway, but not too far. It is spacious inside with large tables and a friendly, welcoming staff. I had a margarita with my lunch; only one though because I was driving. It wasn't strong but was tasty enough. The beers are mostly domestic with only one micro brew selection but there were plenty of national brand choices. The food was home made and not bad for bar food. I had a Pittsburgh cheese steak sandwich that I thought was good. I ordered it with a side salad instead of fries as I had also ordered the loaded Pastrami fries which came with cheese, pickles and mustard on top. It was a bit too rich and heavy for my taste and the flavors didn't really work well together. Maybe without the mustard I would have liked it more. Not a bad place for a rest stop or a reasonable local hang out as well with some decent food.

The cheesesteak was alright. It was nothing to complain about or write home about. The jojo fries were kinda undercooked but good and seemed homemade almost. Attentive service, not overbearing. A lot of locals since Richfield isn't exactly a destination but you'll get the same treatment and be just as welcome.

We are a little hoity-toity though: For my tri-tip 10 oz., it came out nicely spiced, medium rare as specified, but cut with the grain, not across it (which would have made it much more tender). No char / Maillard reaction on the outside. My spouse ordered blackened salmon, which again was spiced fine, but was not blackened at all. She also had a glass of "Merlot" wine, which was red, and had traces of alcohol in it. We arrived on July 24th, Utah's Founder's Day. The place was packed but we were seated right away by the hostess who had a sense of humor - nice!

Since they are a franchise they are not identical, and each one seems to play off the local identity and try to have decor that aligns with the area as well as the bear themed stuff. They have a small gift area, not overwhelming but a few branded items and typical touristy stuff. It's cute and seems to be well made stuff. Food - Oh yea, there's food! They have a really extensive menu and breakfast is served all day. My only regret is I love tri-tip and they have it on the menu but each time I was at a Black Bear they had run out. Admittedly we had arrived very late and I'll assume it's both good and popular since all three had run out. It's worth noting that for breakfast, they have real link sausage as well as other options and the sausage is nothing that grocery store skinless junk most places serve today. I was glad to see they had good quality thick bacon as well as several sausage choices for breakfast.
