The food was fine, we got immediate seating on a Saturday night when Rodeo was going on, they had a live band which was cool. The server started out great, lacked on the sense of humor though. I ordered margaritas made with patron, no salt. First one came out great... second one was not patron and had salt, maybe she grabbed wrong margarita.... Ordered a bowl of queso.... had a third margarita still was not patron ( I can tell when it is Jose Cuervo, I hate the taste)... Not huge deal.... Until the ticket came and I was charged for three handcrafted patron margaritas... Fine if I had gotten all three... I am not that person But I did request to only be charged for what I had served to me... and we were charged for not one bowl of queso, but two.... so we asked for one to be taken off as well. Then the manager came over... Was very rude about the margaritas. He said "Bartender said she made them with patron" She may have, but I was not brought patron margaritas. He then asked me what I wanted him to do about it. I just politely said that I will be happy to pay for what I received, a house margarita. That was resolved.... Great experience, brought family visiting from Chicago. Ask for "Mac" as your waitress she was fabulous, had knowledge of the menu, gave great advice. The best personality on the planet! Told us stories of her family, we all were laughing and she made us feel at home. I am sorry we did not get a picture with her. The food was very tasty, margaritas, beers, sangria all were hits. We decided to try before a wedding we had in Ft. Worth. My husband wanted to try a New Mexican restaurant that we had not tried before and after a recommendation from a friend Los Vaqueros it was. The atmosphere was spot on. The server was attentive but not overbearing. The margaritas were surprisingly yummy even though the bright green color. No complaints about the food either. I don't even know why people eat here; I have had better tasting Mexican food at taco bueno! Waiter was friendly but Service was ok, had to ask for more hot sauce and basket was empty of chips and we were eating the crumbs but they never asked if we wanted a refill. I also had to flag someone down for a drink refill after 10-15 min. of waiting to see if they would notice. I had a chicken fajita salad, it was subpar. No taste to it and the chicken had a weird smelling seasoning on it. Husband ordered Los Vaqueros dinner with a tamale, taco and beef enchilada, taco was good, he said two thumbs down on the ranchero sauce. We ordered flan for dessert and so disappointed, did someone forget to add sugar to the mix? The atmosphere is full of energy, it's on the louder side. With our group of 6 we were sat immediately during peak dinner time. The server greeted us quickly and our beverages arrived almost immediately after the chips and salsa did. The salsa is really good and so was dinner. I had the brisket tacos and they were flavorful and filling. Others in the group ordered enchiladas and fajitas and everything looked and smelled great. This restaurant has all of the trademarks of a traditional "stockyards restaurant". The decor and ambience is inviting but the tables are relatively close. We started off with fresh salsa and guacamole although the salsa was very salty and the guacamole was bland and overly creamy. The service was spotty - waitress was extremely helpful with food choices and substitutions but drinks were not filled in a timely fashion. As for the main courses, the guacamole enchiladas were very flavorful but not the flavor is almost one dimensional and gets old very quickly - not to mention the guacamole would not be good for leftovers. The rice and beans were average. The tamales were rather dry. Overall, I would recommend this place for the drinks and the atmosphere, however, there are certainly better restaurants close by. read more

Went last Saturday night before a show at Billy Bobs with a group of 11. Crowded of course, but were seated promptly at reservation time when all parties arrived. Props to the waitress who on the front end asked if we needed to split the check and did so four ways. Not typical for a large group. This remains one of the best Mexican food spots in Fort Worth. The brisket nachos, brisket tacos and taco plate were samples and simply do the trick. This is classic old school stockyards mexican food and never lets me down. read more

They just seated a large party that came in after us because they had a "reservation ". We requested reservations twice before we came and were told they do not accept reservations. I had been a long time customer of Los Vaqueros even when it was a few blocks down the street and they had another restaurant known as Mi Casa and granted I have not been here in a few years, but I never anticipated just how much things change. I recently went at 1 pm on fathers day and I did expect it to be busy and it was, but I did not expect stale chips, flavored tomato sauce they want to call salsa or cold tasteless food. Even more disappointing was they no longer offered a spicier version salsa and not one alternative offered, How about Can I bring you some jalapenos? I will never understand why a Mexican Restaurant in Texas does not expect people to like spicy food. HORRIBLE SERVICE! We were told the wait would be 30-45 minutes. That's fine, but we waited 1 1/2 hours to finally be seated in the bar area by one of the owners. Then waited another 20 min. Before I had to go look for a server, found a manager she said she'd send one right over... Again I had to go ask for a server. Quesadillas tasted great, but were a little small. Mostly giving them a bad review for their intercom system. Literally, every few seconds, they would blare "Table party of..." in the restaurant seating area. The restaurant needs to get vibrating coasters to notify people when their table is ready.
