Flavorful Mexican food in Bernal Heights. I went with a couple of friends because we were craving birria. For the appetizer, we got the vegetarian queso fundido. The cheese pull from this appetizer was amazing. The cheese itself was fresh, chewy and warm and the verde sauce that accompanied it was hot and tangy. The tortillas offered with the appetizer were pillowy and delicious. The quesabirria I ordered was a 10/10. The tortillas were both crispy and soft, while the birria was marinated to perfection. The consomé was hearty, garlicky and savory. Our service was great and our waitress was kind and informative about the menu. I had an absolutely amazing chicken mole here. The flavors were rich and amazing, with a subtle and soft spiciness that hits at the end. The service was excellent, they were more than happy to accommodate swapping a salad for rice. It's great to look out over the park while eating - really nice spot. Will return again. read more

This was our first time at this location and it was cute! Different vibes for sure but it was nice. We sat by the window and my view was amazing looking into Bernal heights. We got a mega margarita with strawberry and jalapeño and split the molcajete. Definitely enough for two people. The chile has cheese in it, and that was literally like the best thing of the whole plate I'm just a cheese lover from Jalisco and I love their vibes their drinks and everything !! The first thing we noticed was the fun, lively atmosphere and the cheerful and festive decor right down to the authentic and colorful plates. My husband brought me here for my birthday because he knows I love chilaquiles and my dad is from Sonora. The cafe de olla was perfect that we ended up taking some to go. Stumbled upon this place for happy hour on a Friday afternoon. Had an awesome experience with great service, super fun and lively atmosphere, and delicious food. Specifically, we tried the 1. Tacos dorados de camaron- 4/5, one star taken off bc not salty enough for my preference, but served with a delicious tomatoey sauce that we loved 2. Queso fundido (with vegetables) 6/5 this dish was the BOMB. So packed with corn, onions, veggies, deliciously salty, and served with colorful thick tortillas that were clearly homemade. This place is awesome. This is actually the second location for Los Yaquis and since I love the original one we had to try this place and it was great! The location is more modern and looks super nice with their decor, fits the neighborhood it's in. The food is great, their Molcajete has so much food and great flavor! My favorite dish is still their camerones en crema de chipotle. It has the right amount of spice and comes with spinach and mushrooms which complement the dish a lot. Their tortillas were amazing, they taste like house made! For drinks, they have a huge variety for micheladas but also margaritas, sangria and of course non alcoholic. The server changed the bill on us. The itemized bill on the right was brought to us first, with all correct amounts. Then when he brought our card back for us to add tip, I noticed the subtotal was higher than the original, and therefore tax and tip options were higher. I brought this to his attention and he said it was a mistake and he must have put in the table number or something. It was obvious it was intentional and he was counting on us not noticing. He offered cash because it would "take a few days to go back into our account", but I insisted it be credited back to our card and for a new receipt. Very shady and so many other better options to eat at. But if you do go, def double check your checks. read more

Amaaaazing Mexican food with beautiful colors and presentation, authentic in the food's tastes and ingredients and very creative in their presentations. Absolutely loved their fish tacos - the portions were so big that I felt full after eating just one (2 pieces per plate). The FOOD is FRESH, full of flavor, cooked to perfection. The tortilla chips are made in house and stay just as fresh the next day--I had take out, and just finished a Father's Day re-visit. The re-fried Black Beans are DELICIOUS, chicken tacos soft and full of flavor. They have teeny cooked hot peppers, I don't think it's habanero---but ouch, and it's good. Nothing is super salty or drenched in oil. Your dinner can be ready in 20 minutes to pick up, or you can DoorDash and have it delivered. I was told that there are more menu options for delivery on menufi. Really good place. Give it a try. read more

My husband, toddler, and I shared the following 3 dishes and had a decent amount of leftovers: 1) Camarones a la mojo de ajo - very flavorful 2) Carne asada - quite good 3) Chicken mole - good, but not a standout The salad, refried beans, fries, rice, and tortillas that accompanied these items were also quite good. I came here for a work related event and I was amazed at the menu options. Be warned: The appetizers are served in large portions and they are all delicious. I had the delight of sampling the nachos, ceviche, paella and quezon with chorizo. The service was amazing, quick and friendly. The brightly painted walls, the cactus and flower arrangements provided a wonderful space. The music was traditional and was played at the perfect volume. I give them extra points for having installed sound absorbing panels on the ceiling to prevent the bouncing of sounds across the entire dining room.
